Hello everyone, Its just taken me an hour to catch up on all the posts and now I can't remeber who said what!

clu welcome, I love the comment about Lily breakdancing in her cot, would love to see your HV face I have to say my experience with HV has been a good one, they haven't been anywhere near me since Zoe was 5 wks old so they can't comment on anything I am doing I agree though that most of baby care does seem to be guess work or personal experience, when Zoe was getting her jabs I asked the HV about tummy time and she had never heard of it!

Anyasmum I just started baby massage today and Zoe seemed to enjoy it, I actually think she was quite tired for the rest of the afternoon so we will see how long that lasts!

Inzi, Jane sounds exactly like my cousins wee girl who was born during the summer, she started going down the scale but was still really alert and contented, she was referred to a peadiatrician, but he just said she had been put on the wrong curve to begin with and was finiding her proper curve now. I am sure it is really difficult but if you are happy with her try not to let others worry you too much.

Alice I am sure you do feel pleased with yourself I find it hard enough to cope with bathing 1!

Well we have had a couple of good nights, Zoe has slept through, last night it was 10.30pm to 7am and was even better the night before. She fed at 7pm tonight, played for a while and I gave her another 2oz as I put her down at 9pm as dream feeds just don't work for Zoe, so watch this space she might sleep through and she might not!

Hope you all have good nights, I really don't know how some of you cope with LO who won't go to sleep.

MulledwineandJ2O · 10/01/2008 09:44

Oh god how do you all find time to come on?! have tried catching but haven't got a chance i'm afraid!

Shannon seems fine after her accident but hv is coming to see if i'm ok tommorrow i think they're checking up on me, i wonder if they've got a list of vunerable mothers in the area cos they tried ringinging me 8 times yesterday! oh the shame of dropping my baby on her head

well i think i've got the routine thing cracked, she'll have 7oz at 8am, 7oz at 12, 7oz at about 4pm then 8 oz at about 8pm, goes to bed about 10 and thats it for the night, is that enough milk do you all think? or too much? she is 1.5lb off a stone so i think she's definately getting enough, little fatty. although i have to try and feed her when its quiet cos if there's anyone about she's so nosy, she stops taking her bottle, strains her neck to look round and starts laughing.

she was trying to copy me last night blowing raspberries, it was so cute, i could really see the determination in her eyes

i finally got round to booking dd's xmas present-a night at Alton Towers hotel, one day in the theme park and one day in the water park, i was going to take Shannon but my sil has agreed to have her so it'll be much easier plus dd1 will get some 1 on 1 attention that she is craving so much!

well i'm going to have to try and clean my pig sty up, hope you're all ok, oo actually i'll try and add some pics to my profile first xxx

Inzi - are you sure about only being able to give 2 doses of calpol? - think you can give every 4-6 hours for as long as necessary, just not more than 4 doses in 24 hours. Hope Jane's feeling better. Anya seems to feel poorly for 24 hours, despite calpol. She was grumpy yesterday morning then slept lots. Today she is much more cheerful.

Strawberry - at your idea of a cave!

On subject of hv's - mine is rubbish too. Asked her a couple of weeks ago (when had feeding problems) whether she thought Anya might be teething. She looked in her mouth and said "well there are a couple of white bits on her lower gums so yes that might be teeth". Even I know that gums go red and swollen first - little white bits don't just poke through. Sure enough, she's not teething.

inzi - crumbs, didn't read the instructions properly! Have just checked my bottle and the pharmacist put the prescription sticker over that bit of the instructions! But then the prescription sticker says 2.5ml 4 times a day as necessary and it was prescribed at her 1st jabs when she was 2 months.

Isn't Jane 3mo now though? 3m and over there's no 2 dose restriction.

muppetgirl · 10/01/2008 12:41

Hi Anyasmum and Inzi - I didn't realise you could only give 2 doses also. It doesn't make it clear on the bottle...We had to give Henry a dose on Christmas eve as he had a temperature of 38.

Oliver slept till 5am this morning! Thank God for small mercies Saw my psychologist today for the 1st time since H was born and she is very pleased with how things are going. Am going to be discharged in 4 months but apps. are now stretched out to 2 months so only 2 left! Feel it's a huge achievement considering last year I couldn't even answer the phone, avoided life outside the front door as it was all too scarey and now I'm thinking of looking for a job

Those with PND -there is life outside the anxiety, blueness, not being able to cope'ness'. It has taken me 2 years to get beack to how is was before in terms of confidence levels -I went on a train to Manchester to meet Anyasmum!!! Wandered round by myself with H, got lost but could ask people for directions. This is something that would have never even entered into my head to do. (At 18 I flew to Paris with 2 friends for the weekend with nowhere to stay when we got there, that's how confident I used to be!) CBT really helped as it challenges your thinking and the anxious/irrational thoughts I was having. The 1:1 psychology helped even further as I couldn't go to the group sessions as I was far to anxious to go somewhere new.
Keep asking for help, don't think 'I'm okay..'

Off to swimming now as DH is home and Henry is in bed having a nap. Dh is playing 'Kill, Kill, Kill' or whatever it's called on the xbox.

Stefka · 10/01/2008 12:41

Dareh cried for 4 hours after which he did a massive poo so I guess that was the problem! And he is crying again - bbl.

J2O · 10/01/2008 13:02

working now?

a nurse told me 2 doses of 5ml of calpol can be given in one day, but i thought same as rest of you for 2.5ml-every 4-6 hrs.

just discovered the people who moved into my old address have opened an account in my name for a catologue and been getting stuff and not paying for it-i'm livid i have to go pick my cat up again as she's run off back to the old house, not sure if i can control myself if i see them.

Dalrymps · 10/01/2008 13:09

Awwww your pics are so cute J20, they're both beautifull

afternoon all... i have been catching up on the jabs tips as my ds had his first ones yesterday ( a few weeks later, but better than never). He was grissly all day, then took a 2.5ml dose of calpol and 9.30pm as well as 5oz of milk then slept though to 7am!! Calpol is my new friend!

Today i am battling my own weight demons.... feeling really rubbish as i'm struggling to lose my baby weight. Its seriously depressing. i have put on 3 stone and its killing me.

I'm on Weight Watchers but i just can't see i'll ever get my figure back Only lost 4 pounds in 1 month...... i even put weight on one week !
Sad thing is all i want to do is eat....

inzi-aptamil is meant to be the best, Shannon was fine on it when bf, but now i use Farleys which she's ok on, sometimes gets a little constipated but nothing major, and before that i was giving her Hipp organic which was great but the milk really stunk so dd1 made me change it. aptamil is quite expensive but worth it if it makes her happier x

Inzi you're right it does say on the bottle that you can only give 2 doses at Jane's age. However it is perfectly safe to give 4 doses in 24 hours - I got this advice from a paediatric doc when Adam had a cold when he was only 3 weeks old. Basically it is arse covering because tiny babies who are under the weather should really see a doc. So as long as you are happy with her then there is no reason not to give more. Understand though if you are not happy to do this -you have to do what you are happy with like all these things!

Adam is on cow and gate, I think like Jane? And he's doing OK. If she's unhappy with it then maybe get the doc to see her? Agree reflux less likely if not being sick but the pain on feeding was the main thing that bothered Adam although he was sick too.

J20 great to hear form you! Your dd's are really cute! Can't beleive the shits at your old address - I'd report them to the police if I was you - that's fraud.

Strawberry glad the bf book helps!

Choc sorry to hear you're still having a tough time with the sleep - hope the co-sleeper helps and hope the book does too!

Hello everyone else! Just tried to write all your names then deleted as didn't want to offend anyone I forgot!!!!

We have had a relaxing am walking in the rain to pick up parcels and having coffee. Adam now asleep in the hugabub. Need to go phone my mum in a min so will prob be back later...

MrsFish · 10/01/2008 15:49

Inzi - Ben has only thrown up a couple of times too, think yourself lucky

As regards formula, I started Ben on Aptamil but it didn't agree with him, he would never settle between feeds, he would just grisle and cry and pull his legs up till he did a few big farts I changed to Cow and Gate Comfort (for comfortable digestion) on the recommendation of my SiL and he has been so much better since. The only problem is that you can't get it in cartons which you use don't you? If you do change the formula my HV said to change it gradually like every 1 in 3 bottles over the space of a week. She told me this after I had done a full on switch the previous week, didn't seem to bother him though

Good Luck, hope you get it sorted soon, I can understand why you are worried.

J2O · 10/01/2008 15:51

inzi-when i changed Shannon's milk i introduced it slowly as in 1 bottle one day, then 12 bottles the next day, 3 thre next..etc, it may stop her getting too unsettled with the change

Alice-i've reported it to the police but the fraud team are dealing with it at the catologue, went round and managed to catch the silly little cow out by what she said, even though she denies it, i wouldn't mind, but they got my date of birth wrong and made me 7 years older than i actually am!!

my house is still a tip, been stomping round, pi**ed off, but not actually done anything. just got dd1 from school and she's reading very loudly so can't concentrate, see you all later

J2O · 10/01/2008 15:52

x posted mrs F, great minds eh? hows Ben? 14 wks tommorrow, can't believe it!

MrsFish · 10/01/2008 15:55

Well I went in to town this morning to exchange something at ELC (such a great company, Sam had a keyboard bought him for his b'day in June and it had stopped working, I phoned them up and they have swapped it for a new one for me without a receipt or packaging etc, and the new design is much better too ) So I changed that and went to a coffee shop as it was time for Ben's feed... I had packed the formula and hot water but forgot the bottle poor thing was screaming, luckily Boots was nearby and I got two women to keep an eye on him and I ran to Boots to buy a bottle, then got the woman at the CS to douse it in boiling water, the best I could manage with no steriliser to hand. I'm hoping it won't cause any upset to him. Can't believe I did that, so cross with myself, anyway not a mistake I will make again
Then I went to the chiropractor again and sure enough my two vertebrae had popped out of line again, so hopefully this time they will stay put for a while, I feel so much better now

MrsFish · 10/01/2008 15:56

He's doing great thanks J20 - recent photo on profile
