Hi all

very busy with work/family/christmas etc and W is gong through agony teething - think he's got 2 teeth coming together (which will make his total 9!) so not getting much sleep atm.

anyway...

W feeding routine

6am - bf

8/8.30am - breakfast (porridge or weetabix with cows milk - been using cows milk in his cooking since started solids) and yoghurt or toast

11.30/12 - lunch and pudding

2.30/3pm - bf

5pm - tea and pudding

7pm - bf (then bed)

10.30pm - ff feed (about 7/8oz)

used to have a bf mid morning, but W decided to drop it, which worked well for me going back to work.
He will have bread sticks, biscotti biscuits etc as snacks in between, depending on where we are/what we're doing.

Hope you're all well and have a lovely weekend

I'm glad your back as runnyhabit - I can't remember that

My secret santa presse arrived today and I resisted for 10minutes it was the prettiest wrapped box in pink Christmas paper and a huge handtied bow. I was in heaven. Inside it got even better with showers of little stars and individually wrapped in red tissue paper presents. You have gone to so much trouble I can only descibed it as a mummy pamper kit. Bubble bath, slippers (which dts have been chasing), body puff, chocs, diary and a great mug whcih says 'Good morning, let the stress begin'. Very clever santa for being so thoughtful. I have been spoilt.

Well on a more stressed note, it is ds1's joint pool party later and I have sandwiches and cheese and pineapple to make, other mummy doing loads well she only has a 4 year old .

Can't really think of much else except that I feel very disorganised and no decs up, no cards written and still presses to buy, but I have the Magners in Ange if you fancy one

Eddas I wish I could press the pause button on my life whilst I catch up.

DTs are very whingey and at the moment don't seem very happy - have colds and I still do as well, but not time to rest (must be really really wicked )

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 15/12/2007 15:51

Well I think you could describe today as being full of ups and downs......

  1. washing machine is fixed!!!!!! - after 18 days and umpteen trips to do laundry.

  2. I went into to town and got a few Christmas things - whilst I was there dh was so busy with other girls, washing machine man etc that B hadn't had her lunch - she was very pleased to see me - and was dressed by daddy in a)vest (good) b) tights (also good) c) a pajama top which is very pretty certainly and a bit big for her (ok) and d) dungarees - very pretty and 0-3 months!!!!!!!!!! (not good) He said he wanted her to be cosy and thought she looked cute - which she does, odd but cute!

  3. But whilst in town a very unfortunate thing happened. I was walking along a street and there was a man calling up to someone in the flats above - as I passed he said 'Ok' then he saw me and said 'no wait' (to the person above) I thought 'oh that's ok whatever is being dropped will be held back' WHEN SOMETHING HARD AND HEAVY LANDED ON TOP OF MY HEAD! Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! It was a bunch of keys Bloke was very apologetic - kept saying 'I told her to wait' - turned out he was visting his mum in law and rather than her descending to let him in she chucked the keys down into the street! Anyway she then appeared - white as a sheet and tbh I ended up comforting them. I was very very angry at first - it hurt so much and was so unpleasant - I just didn't feel like being nice and asked him very bluntly 'what the b*y h*l did he think he was doing' - I don't think I said anything worse - but feel I had a good excuse anyway.
Bit of a bump and a tender spot now but I'm ok - just hope she is - they were both very upset by it. Dh was furious and said why doesn't he have his own key - which is a good point. Anyway I'm sure they won't do that again - which is a worth a bump on my part - imagine if I'd had the girls with me - or B - can't bear to think what a bunch of keys would do to a baby's head

What is a bit odd though is this - 2 years ago this weekend I was moving the iron gates at church and bumped my head really, really badly - huge bump, much bruising. Now this - Carol service weekend next year - I'm wearing a helmet!

RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 15/12/2007 16:36

omg NL, hope you are ok. As you say thank goodness it was you and not the children, how scary. LOL at your dh's outfit for B, reminds me of dh getting the dc's dressed He once dressed dd in pj's for a day out

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 15/12/2007 16:41

Eddas - they all do it don't they? My friend's little boy was bought in by her dh to see her in hospital - when his little sister was born - squeezed into some of the 3-6 months stuff she had been sorting out for the new baby - he was 2!!!

cazboldy · 15/12/2007 17:46

Hi all will have to try and catch up!
Have had a truly manic week!

SecretSantaforLUCEYULE · 15/12/2007 17:50

LUCEYULE have you received your secret santa present yet?? It was posted registered post on tues/wed!

Please let me know if it has arrived/when it arrives safely.

Maveta · 15/12/2007 18:40

NL - owwww that must have hurt like all jiggery! ouch.

Thank you everyone for sharing your routines, it does help - it seems like we are all on more or less a variation on a theme which reassures me I´m not going far wrong. I didn´t get far with BLW as it happens despite my best intentions.. it seemed to require more patience and thought re. food planning than I´d anticipated. With work and everything else I find it easier to make soups/ pasta sauces/ stews in bulk and freeze.. but he seems very happy with what he is given so that´s what matters.

iMustBeMad · 15/12/2007 18:43

boo
entirely up to you Katy, not being pfb at all, I think it's me being a bit daft tbh
when we went to stay with Pesha, because he was with me the entire time J had no ff for the 4 days. He slept dreadfully. I decided then that maybe that one bottle a day does give him something extra, even if it's just that it sits heavier on his stomach or something, and if it doesn't, so what, I'm at work in the mornings mon-fri so if he wants milk he has to have ff, and we go to football on saturday pm where it'd be blardy freezing to try and feed him, so he has a ff while we're there.

It works for us, and tbh I think that's the best way to go, so if bf is still working for you, don't change it!

and can I just say how proud I am of those first-time mums still bf, it might sound patronising, but it's really not supposed to, just that there is a huge amount of pressure out there to stop bf before 6mths, and I know that I gave up as soon as the HV suggested it with M, I just thought they must know best. This time I've got more confidence because I've done it all before, but you're still finding your feet in the minefield that is parenting so YAY for you

I think that's a bit of a ramble but I guess you kinda get the gist

BOOGALOOBLUE - when you return to read this, you've met me on MN before, just not as this nickname, (please don't mention the old one on here!). I'm visting the W school at 1.15 on Tuesday, just wanted to warn you

Good to have you back, runny!!

@ the person dropping their keys on your head, NL - I would have been pretty if that had happened to me - thank goodness it wasn't B or one of your other children though - Hope your head gets better soon, poor thing. xx

Been over the rod to see our neighbours who've just had a gorgeous baby girl - she is so small and yummy!

iMustBeMad · 15/12/2007 19:17

ah, now you've slipped up there Dippy, now we all know you're really a garden gnome, as you went over the rod to see them

Evening

Much the same routine here.

6-7am-ish - bf

8ish - porridge & fruit

10ish - bf

12ish - lunch

2-3ish - bf (sometimes misses this out though)

5ish - tea

6-7ish bf and bed!

And yes, I also feel like I'm constantly feeding. And T gets in such a mess with his dinners! Food everywhere!

On the nativity outfits... T is a star in the nativity play! Got a cute outfit from Matalan for £3! He's going to kill me when he's older! Will try to put a piccie on profile.

tcmummy · 15/12/2007 21:09

Have added piccie !

iMustBeMad · 15/12/2007 21:10

pmsl love it!

RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 15/12/2007 21:16

oh bless, but lol how cute though ds will hate me too as i have a picture of him asleep holding a cpink wand and covered in a pink blanket oh well at least I could get away with saying it is dd, since they are so similar

ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 21:18

oooh he makes such a cute star! seems to be having fun
NL , how nasty! Don't blame you for being angry. Do you have a bump?
runny, so glad you're back as runny, your name change was really confusing me, not sure why
imbm I think I've misled you sorry I am still bf and don't plan to stop, but I use cow's milk in porrige etc (well really only porrige, can't think of an etc) as I know you can. But is it the case that formula would be better, or is there little difference when it's in food? I can't be bothered to express and what little frozen milk i do have is needed for feeds!

iMustBeMad · 15/12/2007 21:27

don't think it makes all that much difference, personally I found it way too much faff to mix up formula just for putting on cereal

OP posts:
tcmummy · 15/12/2007 21:29

I'm pleased Runny is Runny again too!

HV told me cows milk was ok in food (ie small amounts). I use bm in porridge, but dh uses water if I haven't expressed any. The reason we don't reach for the cows milk is because we have semi-skimmed and they're meant to have full fat.

Ramble ramble ramble...

Just realised how exciting my life is now, discussing what milk we have on a saturday night

iMustBeMad · 15/12/2007 21:31

ok
I want a christmas namechange, then after christmas I'll go back to usual

OP posts:
iMustBeMad · 15/12/2007 21:33

am thinking when they ask me what I did when I get to work on Monday I might tell them I was talking norks

ah, now last night I did get talking nipples ............

OP posts:
ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 21:36
