Nutty, hope you survive Christmas and New Year and your inlaws ok, and that you reappear at some point.

MJ, fingers crossed that another job opportunity comes up when you're really ready to go for it.

I'm so looking forward to going home and being looked after a little by my own mum over Christmas.

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 15/12/2007 00:35

You know I said B was an angel for the toddler nativity on Sunday - well I have got a pic - and I have of course put it on my profile

ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 07:45

oh that's so cute! A very tasteful angel dress

ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 07:46

Oh, wanted a winge but forgot I know 7am is not that early really (a week ago I'd have been praying for it) but he was up at 2 and 6, I could have just done with another hour or so
zzzzzzzzz

Maveta · 15/12/2007 08:11

Morning! a quick hello before the day gets away from me and I don´t get a chance.. hellloooooooo! Can I do a quick poll as to who is still breastfeeding? Is anyone mixed feeding? Noah currently has his early morning, mid morning and bedtime feed from me and all the ones in the night. He has a 4 pm and 10pm bottle. I think I´m ready to phase out the mid morning feed too now but feel really confused about how much milk he should be having...it would currently look like this

5am breastfeed
7am cereal with formula
10am formula 200mls
12pm lunch
3pm ish formula 200mls
5pm dinner
7pm breastfeed
10pm formula 200mls
and at least one breastfeed in the night.

Does that seem like an awful lot?? It seems like he is constantly eating, about to eat, or just eaten!! Can any of you share your schedules? x

Maveta · 15/12/2007 08:14

Hey EPB! It´s definitely the relative hour of waking that matters, not the real hour.. 7am is great if they´ve slept all night, miserable if they were up at 6am. Absolutely

Noah´s been up at 4am FOR THE DAY several times this week. I think we are very much resigned to it now and just hoping he works it out of his system soon. He slept that one night all the way through just to tease us and then no more.. booo.

ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 08:18

Hi maveta
aargh i'm using whole milk on porrige, just occurred to me should i be using formula?

Not really in a routine yet but typical day might look like this:

7am breastfeed
8am breakfast (combination of fruit/toast/nat. yoghurt)
10am breastfeed
2pm breastfeed (that's right, no lunch )
5pm breastfeed
6.30pm tea (vegetables / chicken / cheese / bread / pasta)
8pm porrige with banana or apricot
9pm bedtime breastfeed

and then usually one breastfeed through the night, although recently has been more with teething, only just resettled

ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 08:19

Yeah thinking about it there's not normally much variation, feeds may vary by up to an hour either way I suppose. Occassionally he has lunch (if we're at mum's or MIL's )

Idreamofchocolate · 15/12/2007 08:35

Morning! Erm, not much going on here except continuing poorly DCs. Em was off school yesterday due to her constant coughing (although she was alright for most of the day, just gets very bad during the night, like last night, constant coughing ringing in my ears all night..... yawn[need sleep emoticon]). S thankfully seems to be more or less over her cold, so a good night's sleep from her last night for the first time in days.

Good job she's OK really as they're going to stay at the ILs tonight as we're going out for a meal for my friend's birthday. Hoping that they both sleep well for Granny and Grandpa (who are also have my nephew staying tonight - they are saints!).

Maveta - S's routine is roughly this:

7.30 - formula, followed by cereal (usually Oatibix) made up with full-fat cow's milk. I usually add some pureed fruit for a bit of sweetness.
11am - formula (she usually only drinks about 3oz at this time).
12.30ish - lunch - main course and pud, with water offered to drink.
2.30ish - formula
5pm - tea - main course, pud and water.
6.45 - Formula
7pm - bed
10pm - woken for a nappy change and dream feed of formula.

And that's it, nothing through the night as she usually sleeps through from 10pm to 7.30ish.

So it's looks like she's having about the same as Noah - yes it feels like a constant round of feeding!

Maveta · 15/12/2007 08:38

No I think you can use cows milk just not as a drink, I tried it with Noah but it made him vomit every time so now use formula. I definitely feel like phasing bf-ing out but am going through that obligatory indecisive bit where I feel alternately relieved and happy or sad and regretful about it Will be glad when we are settled into the new routine and if I can continue morning and bedtime breastfeeds for a while I´ll be happy.

Noah currently flakes out for bed at 7pm, if I could make him hold out til 9pm maybe we´d get a better night´s sleep.. but how many naps does T have to get him to 9pm? N just cannot stay awake later. He is up at about 6am typically and bed at 7pm with a total of about 3-4 hours napping a day.. how does that compare?

RudolphtherEDDASnosedreindeer · 15/12/2007 08:41

NL, lovely dress, bless her

Maveta, can't really help re the feeds as i'm a formula person so it would be different, plus ds isn't really eating atm because of chicken pox, now a cold and I think teething mixed in too. poor little thing

Elf, i use full fat milk for ds on his cereal etc. I think the no cows milk before 12 months is just for the main milk. With dd I used to mix in formula with the cereal, amazing what changes with baby 2

Off to fill in my insurance/solicitors forms Ridiculously it has taken my insurance company until yesterday to ring and tell me the car is being written off and they offered £1,700 which they can poke where the sun doesn't shine Told me they'd looked at glass' guide and I said well I have too and that's not the figure I saw! Thieving gits! They will give us more

Have good days ladies >

liath · 15/12/2007 08:56

NL - aw bless, she's lovely .

Nutty - have a great Christmas.

Our schedule (such as it is, still demand fed)

5am BF
8am breakfast - porridge, fruit
9.30 BF
10.30 BF and nap
12 lunch
2pm BF
5pm tea
6-7pm - usually has 2 or 3 BFs before bed
2am - BF (some nights, thankfully not all).

Am a bit cross with nursery, ds is teething so has a bad nappy rash - I told them when I dropped him off yesterday & left a tube of metanium. He got back with a raw bright red bum, skin breaking down, crying in pain . Am not too happy with his baby room generally but dd is happy in her room and don't fancy having them in different nurseries. I suppose it's just a day and a half a week.......

DippyChristmas · 15/12/2007 09:23

Morning! Goodness, I am tired - have been going to bed too late recently, not good - I'll be pleased when the Christmas newsletter is finished and in the post - not long now - pretty much all done, just needs a final proofing and then printing, stapling and stuffing ...... phew!!

Norma - Don't stay aaway too long honey! Have a wonderful Christmas / New Year though. xx

Am I the only one whose little one doesn't really have any milk at all any more!!? I am not worried, my other 2 did this as well - As soon as they got into solids, they weren't really interested anymore ..... P has three big meals a day (breakfast, 7.30am; lunch, 12.15pm and dinner, 4.30 - 5pm) and then has milk in the morning when she wakes up, before her morning nap and before bed; apart from the morning feed, it is just a few quick sucks tbh.

So there you go - exciting stuff!

Right, jumping in the shower ......

iMustBeMad · 15/12/2007 10:17

hi all

Joe doesn't have as much milk as he did but I guess it's still a fair bit

6am - bf
8.30 - porridge/weetabix mixed with soya milk
10am - ff (but not every day)
12noon - 2 course meal
4pm - bf
4.30 - food of some sort
6pm - bf
midnight - bf

I'm aiming for one formula bottle a day to top him up on extra vitamins etc, and to try to get more into him and keep his weight up and the HV from the door

hope everyone is well, have added some photos to my profile
WARNING - BLW AND PORRIDGE ARE A BAD COMBINATION

OP posts:
DippyChristmas · 15/12/2007 10:31

LOL @ BLW & porridge, IMBM Good to "see" you bet. xx

NorthernLurker - loving the pic of B in her fairy outfit - she is beautiful.

IMBM - Fab new pics on your profile - LMAO! xx

DippyChristmas · 15/12/2007 10:32

Should read btw, not bet

ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 10:39

Would I be better using formula though, for the extra vitamins etc? Have to say it just didn't occur to me? Or am I being a bit PFB about it all?
Naps have completely gone haywire. He used to have about 40 minutes in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, sometimes longer. Now he seems to really fight it, and usually has one about lunch time (which is him finally giving in to his morning tiredness iyswim) and then another in the early evening. Both are usually about half an hour. If I put him in his cot he wakes immediately (luckily this has stopped happening at night, fingers crossed), we have started letting him sleep in his car seat, which I know is terrible. This means bedtime can be as late as 10.30 Really need to start working on it again.
Should have mentioned in my schedule that I am still demand feeding but tend to feed him before he demands now, as I'm trying to get him to sleep or whatever. It's good as it means I can get stuff done without panicking he's going to need feeding. I've never needed him to, but think he could easily go 4 hours now without a feed - ABOUT TIME!
Liath, your poor DS's bum

DippyChristmas · 15/12/2007 11:17

Think it oculd be time to start towing a harder line EPB!!

DH just gone out witho lder two so I've got a few mins, going to check through newsletter once more and do the washing up ...... exciting!!

ElfPolarBear · 15/12/2007 11:19

I know, now the teething is over and the house is almost sorted I think it's time to start getting strict He is asleep at the momet, just to prove me wrong

DippyChristmas · 15/12/2007 11:48

Right. Lunch .........

mammyjounderthemistletoe · 15/12/2007 12:29

Morning all. Thanks for the kind words about the job. I know I have made the right decision and feel happier about it today too

NL, B is beautiful in her angel outfit. So cute

IMBM, lol at the porridge pics!! Dont envy you cleaning him up after that

Maveta, F's day goes something like this -
8am Breakfast, some sort of cereal with formula. I normally make a 7oz bottle and use about 5oz to mix with breakfast. She will sometimes drink the rest, sometimes not.

11.30am Lunch, normally only one course of something savoury like cauli cheese, chicken and pasta etc. I do offer formula here, but again she will often refuse or drink only an ounce.

2.30pm 5oz bottle of formula. Sometimes she will guzzle all of this, sometimes hardly any

4.30pm Tea, one course again of something savoury. Offer milk, often refused!

6.30pm 7oz bottle to go to bed then nothing til breakfast. She is good and tends to sleep through now.
