Going to read your posts in a tick. Just found this one - it got outstanding from Ofsted in November 07. Have asked for prospectus, whether they have places, and can we visit! Is closer than the other one too.

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/01/2008 23:11

Blooming marvellous link not working, but will take a peek tomorrow. Must go to bed now.

Thanks for info re nursery. Very helpful. Sounds like the one we saw has much more 'academic' stuff rather than 'fun' stuff. This new one I want to look at isn't montessori, so will perhaps be more like yours.

mustmakeyouamanmore · 13/01/2008 23:15

link workin for me

Phoenix · 13/01/2008 23:19

Yup working for me too

We haven't a clue what to do about ds' nursery/pre-school but we can put his name down at the primary school just up the road once he's 2 so gonna start thinking about making an appointment to go look round soon. You've got me looking at OFS

Phoenix · 13/01/2008 23:21

Ooops i leaned on the laptop and it posted before i wanted it to.

So..... You've got me looking at OFSTED reports now

EachPeachPearMum · 14/01/2008 00:29

Ummm- csws- the one you just linked to uses montessori methods for maths, or did I misunderstand something? Why are you looking at nurseries? Thought you had chosen?

Gah- too many posts!

Flame- housework? eek! Go with the list you've got, but leave plenty of room to add to it when you find all the other 'little' jobs that need doing. For us, I would add- garden (mow/clear up leaves/cut hedge whatever...DH has to do that one)

mrm- weird- I LOVE hoovering the toaster!
but YAY for ds2! wow- what a star!
And no- its not fair if you don't get any time to yourself, as if looking after children were a breeze fgs! (but way kewl for Tussaud's!)

Phoenix- I had a little red trike when I was small- was my favourite thing! rode it even when my knees hit the handle bars IYSWIM! Dd is a way-off having a trike/likeabike yet, or a trampoline Friz. She could manage one of those little ones with handles probably. She scuttles around on her wheelybug v e r y slowly and jerkily at the moment, and not very often

re toilet training- we have a seat insert and a potty, but she refuses to sit on either for longer than 2 seconds.

Am you all clean your ovens!
One evening when we had had MIL over for dinner, whilst I was putting dd to bed, she washed up, and cleaned my oven oh the shame! (for the record I did clean it when dh changed the element at christmas)

EachPeachPearMum · 14/01/2008 00:30

btw- the way you're grilling mrm on the nursery thing- sounds like you plan to set up your own

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2008 09:01

at the thought of setting up my own nursery.

Crappy wet weather today, so no idea what to do after tumbletots. Was going to go to zoo, but don't think so in this rain. Builder is apparently coming back today too, so won't eve have house to ourselves.

EPPM - we have chosen a school for dd, and hoped that we would like the associated nursery, but that was the one we went to on Friday, and I didn't like it enough to send her there without at least looking at some others. Seems daft to drive 25 mins each way each day for drop off and pick up if it's not better than nearer ones.

I don't clean my oven, if that makes you feel better.

mustmakeyouamanmore · 14/01/2008 09:44

We cleaned our oven when we moved into the house. Then we cleaned this oner when our friend gave it us in exhanchgnae for some chilsminding. So thats twice in nearly 3 years And only because they were new to us in each instance!

Whats wrong with hoovering the toaster? Actully the best way to get all the crumbs out!

Aerobics this morning.

Thnik there's something wrong withme. I burst into tears atthe end of sense and sensibility Even though I already knoew the ending. And even though I'm going through a fairly content phase.

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 10:06

Hormones woman you nutter, toaster hoovering not so bad I suppose if its a handheld hoover (ya know the little ones) but the big ones?? I just wait for mine to set alight like it did a few weeks ago, turns out someone left half a teacake in there?????? scuzzy frizbe....

EPPM don't worry I'm sure dd will get the hang of bikes and the like soon, if you get her one, she's more likely to get into it right?

CSWS I think MRM has nurseries covered in her post, so won't add anymore.

Waves at everyone else, glad the bedrooms coming on Jas

So I was nearly posting dd2's funeral on here this morning
I'm having a wash in the en-suite, leaving the dd's watching tv on the bed, when I hear an almighty crash I spin around, automatically reach out and grab the end of the falling chest of drawers, just off the top of dd2.....the crash was the tv and the rest of the stuff on the top of the drawers hitting the ground (I have no idea how the tv missed her either)....luckily for dd2, who must have decided to climb them??? the bed and my quick reaction saved her from crushing (shudder) I still have no idea how she didn't get squised in one shape or form, I can only assume the bed and my fairly quick reaction did the job oh and the bottom two drawers took a lot of weight too, as the runners are buckled.......my heart is still in my mouth thinking about it.....dd2 stood at the far side of the room looking at me holiding the drawer up, and the smashed tv on the floor, with a 'who me?' look on her face (sigh).....reminded me of that horrible story of the twins who died in similar circumstances a few years ago..........so moral of the story is, if you can, screw your drawers to the wall (we hadn't, as the shower is on the other side of the wall....) shudder.

mustmakeyouamanmore · 14/01/2008 10:17

Eeek, Frizbe. But then I suppose the boys have had many many lucky escaprs, and I'm just too bad a parent to think about it. Think ds1 was about this age when he nearly drowned 5 mins after arriving at the seaside

Er, its the proper hoover! we had a handheld once, but it was crap and we didint use it (except for hoovering the dog!)

Phoenix · 14/01/2008 10:25

Friz, well done for quick reaction, glad she's ok.

My heart was in my throat ysterday afternoon when we were out walking the dog. Ds broke free from my hand and walked along beside me for a bit quite happily then made a run for it towards the road . I nearly strangled the dog by dragging him to catch ds. I got to him and kind of grabbed his arm (he was p*ing himself laughing as he was running along) and spun him round and he fell and whacked his head on the concrete floor

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 11:25

Phoenix, glad he's ok too though, guess its that lovely age eh

MRM you're clearly barking me dears however I'm quite sure the rest of us are too, so shall put it down to English excentricity! Did I say btw that I thought your plan looked good, as opposed to dh's. Although personally I think us British spend far too much time having to work to afford anything, this labour gov appear to have slotted in that many stealth taxes its untrue and none of it appears to be helping most of us stay above the poverty line (waves from below it )

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 11:25

PS: Am not a tory either.....

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 11:25

though you may persuade me otherwise soon!

EachPeachPearMum · 14/01/2008 13:23

Sorry- quickpost to clear up confusion-
I meant I too love hoovering the toaster- as in its weird we both like it, cos I thought i was the only person who did that!
It is very satisfying, and makes me feel better about the rest of the house

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2008 13:53

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.... Just counting to 10 so as not to lose it with dd, who is absolutely hysterical about being left to sleep, despite being clearly very knackered.

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2008 13:54

at dd2's antics Friz. Glad she is ok.

DontDreamItBeIt · 14/01/2008 14:15

And I am less hn happy because ds has gone to sleep on the sofa whie I was helping dp clean up the plastering mess upstais.

Glad small accident prone people are ok
Scary!

CantSleepWontSleep · 14/01/2008 14:46

But oh for a child that would happily fall asleep without a fuss!

I was trying to get dd to go without one at all, but she ends up hysterical with tiredness by 4pm most days, or if we are out, falls asleep on the way home, and if woken prematurely screams and bfs herself back to sleep, with much ranting if you try to prevent .

She went off shortly after I posted though.

Have invited MuffinMcClay over this afternoon, so her ds can help keep dd entertained whilst we sit and gossip and drink coffee/tea.

FlameNFurter · 14/01/2008 15:41

for Friz!!!

MRM... hoovering the dog??? Did he not mind???

I have oodles I should be doing, and yet I am sat here

Boy just called to say there is a house being advertised at work for £60 less a month than we are paying, 2 extra bedrooms He is getting the number/calling (he was at the end of his break, so it was whichever he had time for). Only just down the road too... It is probably either gone already or a 6 month let only, or no housing benefit (although I am sat here trying to work out if we could survive without the HB money if we were paying less rent...)

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 16:42

Oooh Flame keeping fingers very crossed for you being able to move, how long do you have to go on your current contract?

CSWS dd1 used to get like that, if it helps now she's 4 she's over it and lies in in the mornings too

So Meridian has just been into see me and told me about dd2 also trying to kill herself on saturday by eating the bulb out of her ds's star lamp, whilst she was being bbsat, luckily her dh spotted it, and he'd only turned his back for that split second too what am I to do with her

Ohhhhh meridian has a new site up which I said I'd get you all to look at, as I bet you don't go on the craft threads often! Ginger monkey also has a good site on here
"meridians jewellery www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5533702"

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 16:43

why can I never do those links right?

DontDreamItBeIt · 14/01/2008 16:55

Link works.

Why are the prices in dollars?

Frizbe · 14/01/2008 17:10

I think its a USA crafting website that the girls on the craft threads are using!!! (I'm guessing its cheaper than ebay? I think its a site for handmade goods only)
