@BertieBotts I feel like when he's in the carrier his face is against my chest so it's warmer, whereas in the pram I feel like I'm pushing his face into the cold 🙈

I've had to use the rain cover a couple of times. I hate using it. It feels unnaturally to put a plastic sheet over a child, but as you say it's a necessity. I did lift it up to get a bit of fresh in every now and then because the tiny little holes don't feel enough. It's also a massive pain to then have a big wet plastic sheet thing to have to deal with 😒 we've got a little porch thing before our main front door so I'm going to put a hook in there for it to dry off. Annoyingly the porch isn't big enough to leave the buggy in though.

PurplePansy05 · 24/10/2021 11:22

Hmmm that's given me something to think about. I think the wet cover would have to go in the bath for a bit in our house to drip off, or in the sink in our utility maybe. I don't like the sound of them very much.

Also I had no idea some footmuffs stay on the seat, that might be an issue with my car, the buggy might not go in the boot once folded. I knew I should have asked you all before buying, but for whatever reason I didn't Hmm Off to check what I bought. Luckily it was £13 so not the end of the world! xx

Ok, I got it totally wrong. I bought a different thing to what I thought it was 😂 My footmuff has a liner that goes over the whole of the inside of the stroller so I'll have to work that out somehow with the Uppababy insert, it will have to go on top of the footmuff I think to give DS head support. Pretty sure he'll go in it next month. It has a removable top as Bertie said and is machine washable. I can't see myself removing it every time to go in the boot of my car, it's not massive though so fingers crossed it might fit 🤞 Fully lined too so he should be nice and cosy. Overall it looks pretty impressive for a £13 purchase Grin Just need to fiddle around with putting it all together. xx

They are normally squishy enough for the buggy to fold with them on, you just need to press a bit harder :o Not sure whether it will work with a second liner as well but I don't know what the liner you have is like.

Ready2020 · 24/10/2021 12:46

Last night wasn't great tbh. OH and I agree that she wakes herself up with her arm flailing around and has more space to do it in the travel cot. She didn't do this in the pram bassinet at all but she was all cosied up. Not sure what I can do about it apart from swaddling but I think she's getting a bit old for that now? OH wants to try it.

BertieBotts · 24/10/2021 12:47

Saw this on FB today and thought it was a nice reminder for a lot of us.

@notinthestarsigns that one has good ratings on Mumsnet reviews and made for mums! Good luck with your search

BertieBotts · 24/10/2021 15:16

I think you can swaddle safely until they can roll.

sarah13xx · 24/10/2021 17:29

I’m going to move him into the seat unit of our pram next weekend as we’re going away for the weekend and just don’t have space for the carrycot. He’s touching both ends of it anyway so I don’t even think I’ll put him back in it after that! We have a nice cosy footmuff that goes right up the length of the pram underneath him too (terrible description). When I tried him in it he went from looking huge in his carrycot to looking tiny in his big pram 😂

sarah13xx · 24/10/2021 17:31

Quite nervous about taking him away for 2 nights and having to hope he sleeps when not in his snuzpod. He’s so used to sleeping in there at night, the bedtime routine and going for naps in it now too that I think he could be completely thrown by being away 🙈 We might just need to adapt though since we’re about to move house and he’ll have to get used to sleeping in a different room every night 😬

Ready2020 · 24/10/2021 18:28

@sarah13xx yes I'm nervous about our trip away next week too. I'm hoping the few nights in the travel cot have set her up OK.

I got the new mattress for the cot. Am I OK to put it on top of the other mattress? The other mattress has 2 metal rods under it to stabilise it. I just don't want the mattress to sag too much but want to make sure it's breathable too! It's much comfier than the travel cot one.

Such a nice afternoon here. We went fur a late walk and did a bit of Al fresco feeding.

We went away for one night over the weekend, to a place about a four hour drive away. It was a test run for longer trips - we’re going away for three nights, a domestic flight away, next month.

My advice would be to take more cheeky wipes / wet wipes and muslins than you might expect, and a few extra outfits more than you’ll need. DS had two poonamis so this was necessary. I also recommend a good portable changing mat - was essential for changes in the car, on the hotel bed, discreetly in the hotel foyer… I have one from JJMB which I really rate, it’s the stripey navy and white one.

It was actually ok. DS was out of sorts and slept in bursts of 1.5-2hrs that night which was very tiring. Bringing red lights so we didn’t have to turn on the lights to change and feed him was a good idea - as was Ewan the Dream Sheep. Also, always having a spare dummy on hand…

sarah13xx · 24/10/2021 19:30

@Ready2020 how gorgeous 😊 hopefully you’ll be fine then!

sarah13xx · 24/10/2021 19:31

@RandomCatGenerator oh yes I better not forget Ewan! Would be as well turning back if we’d left him 😂

sarah13xx · 24/10/2021 19:32

Haven’t really thought about the lack of changing mat or bouncer even just to have somewhere to put him. It’s a friend’s house that they rent out we’re going to (just us though) but it won’t have any baby things so we’ll need to take everything and somehow fit the dog in too 🙈

BertieBotts · 24/10/2021 19:49

We don't use a changing mat all the time, often we just grab a muslin or something :) But we have ended up with three portable ones somehow :o I put one in the changing bag, one in the car and the third one is lost anyway.

Ready2020 · 24/10/2021 19:50

We seem to have abandoned Euan a bit. We have constant white noise on instead. Wonder what is better!

RandomCatGenerator · 24/10/2021 19:51

@sarah13xx we did take the Sleepyhead… felt a bit PFB but it is so handy for somewhere to put him in!

Smallbean27 · 24/10/2021 20:15

We went away for 5 days last week, luckily Rohan slept as normal in the travel cot. We just did our usual routine at night and it seemed to work fine. We packed 2 outfits per day, just incase of changes. Good job we did!! It was exhausting as it was a pretty active holiday, we lost our day routine but we just went with it and are now back into it since being home. Can't wait for our next get away

PurplePansy05 · 24/10/2021 20:47

@Ready2020 She's absolutely gorgeous 😍😍 xx

Elliot was fine when we were in England for over a week. His waking hours didn't change. He was in a bigger cot and didn't seem to notice! Hopefully yours will all be the same.

Puppy pads for changing in less than desired places are also great! Although obviously not brilliant for the environment...

@Ready2020 what a cutie! That hoody looks familiar 😂

Ready2020 · 24/10/2021 21:03

Oh dear, not having a happy evening here. DD fell asleep in OHS arms but woke when put down then just started crying non stop which is not like her at all. She's now asleep on my boob as it was the only thing to calm her .I wish I could stay awake all night and just let her sleep on me or be better at co sleeping. But neither work for me. Maybe taking away the lounge, pram and snuz pod all in one go was too much!

PurplePansy05 · 24/10/2021 21:07

Leo is making lovely content sounds during the feeds these days. He generally is a very chatty, smiley little boy, it's so lovely 🥰 I'm starting to have my own little proud mum moments ❤ He's also started kneading and scratching me during bf, I didn't know they do that! Kelly mom website says it's normal as your babies get older I may have cried when I read that. Anyway, I will be trying out a silicone bf necklace this week, I'll report back on how it goes in case anyone is having the same issues. Tried giving him a cloth to hold but with two little hands, breast out and two cloths around it it gets a bit too much for me xx

@Daffodil21 yes! I love them when I go into horrible toilets and see the pull down changing table 😷 always so glad to have one in my bag

sarah13xx · 24/10/2021 21:37

@RandomCatGenerator yeah that’s what we could be doing with, usually the dog is in a separate room to so god knows how I’ll keep him away from Freddie when we’re there 🙈
