You're all doing fab jobs Thanks I think it's an achievement just to get out, even if it doesn't feel like it.
Our NCT group are meeting for coffee tomorrow and most are very nervous as it's their first time out alone with their babies and we're all 7-10 weeks in!
@Daffodil21 and her mammoth train adventures is just super woman Grin

PurplePansy05 · 14/10/2021 17:37

Coffee mornings haven't returned in my area, there are some further away, but I'd have to drive, pay for parking or struggle with street parking. So classes are the only option. I'll be taking him until Christmas and then do swimming instead. I said before that I don't love them and they haven't exactly grown on me if I'm honest. Do some people go daily or several times a week? That's so much effort, I go once a week and feel like that's too much sometimes. I still prefer catch ups with friends for walks or coffee & cake 🙈 xx

@dirtyfries 😂 very kind of you but I'm not superwoman at all - he made it easy - not me! He was an absolute dream the whole way back yesterday. We didn't leave the bedroom until after lunch today and I'm still in my pjs 😀

I haven't been to any with dd the timings don't work with ds nursery. I did take him too baby sensory but I remember thinking I was pretty much paying for him to sleep through them.
We do walks with my mum and I take ds to toddler play time at the local soft play which is essentially free play in the climbing frame without big kids and toast and juice in the middle if you want it. They have a sensory room and dd enjoys the bubble tubes.
I have taken them both swimming. Ds did baby swimming from maybe 5/6 months and loves the water. Again timings are going to be a struggle for dd but we have a pool membership so I think we will just go ourselves. So far we are limited to the baby pool as the main pool is too cold for any k length of time for her. For anyone starting I really recommend splash about baby all in ones- it's like a wee fleece lined wetsuit. She is always nice and cosy even when we get out of the water

lucyrp · 14/10/2021 19:14

@PurplePansy05 I try to go to a few a week, although only managed one so far 😂 I couldn't find any groups to start with now I've found one on a Monday at 10-12, one on a Tuesday 9.15-11.15, one on a Wednesday 1.30-3.30, Thursday there's either a buggy walk at 10-11, a breast feeding group 10-12 or a baby sensory 9.30-11.30 and Friday there's a group also🤣 went from no choice to to much choice. Met up with a girl today I kind of know who's just had a baby and had a quick walk and blimey she talks more than me 😂😂x

Daffodil21 · 14/10/2021 19:32

@lucyrp wow you busy bee! I haven't been to any yet but starting a music thing in a couple of weeks. I'm not really sure it's my kind of thing but my peanut friend suggested we go together so I'm going to give it a go. I go to a couple of group walks every week but they're not buggy and sling ones, so I'm going to set one up with my friend 😱

Ready2020 · 14/10/2021 21:30

Has anyone found their baby feeding less as they get a bit older. I find DD feeds well during her 2 night feeds but during the day turns away from the boob more and has shorter feeds and is fussier at the boob. I'll get her weighed but wondered if it's just an age thing that they feed less.

Ready2020 · 14/10/2021 22:04

Oh and also DD has stopped feeding to sleep! I really miss it but is that just something that happens with age too?

dirtyfries · 14/10/2021 22:30

@Ready2020 I think we have very similar babies! DD is much more aware in the day so we seem to be having less 'quality' feeds but still quite a lot of comfort sucking when it all gets a bit much for her.
She's also stopped falling into deep sleep on the boob, she'll have had enough and be drowsy but will fall asleep when I put her on my chest. She's 7 and half weeks now.

Still have to ninja roll her into the crib though over about half an hour. Too soon and those little eyes are bolt wide open again!

dirtyfries · 14/10/2021 22:32

I was also feeling quite smug about how well she takes the odd bottle but is still a boobie monster. In the last few days or so she's started rejecting the bottle even when I know she's hungry.
She's learning to quickly! We can no longer fool her 😂

sarah13xx · 15/10/2021 11:45

Our house is relatively new and we did properly gut it before Freddie was born but now the estate agent is coming next week to take pictures (and possibly have viewers later in the week) I’ve realised just how much there is to do 😳 Also baby stuff takes up so much space! Even our room is full of his things 🙈 This weekend will be spent cleaning every time Freddie sleeps, wish it was Monday already 😭

sarah13xx · 15/10/2021 12:10

He seems to be fighting sleep way more than usual. He had a terrible day yesterday, ended up awake from the car home from that class at 2:30 til bedtime at 8ish. He just wouldn’t sleep or stay asleep for more than a few minutes at a time. Still slept amazingly last night thankfully! I’m trying not to put him down fully asleep every time for his naps and just lie him down as he’s shutting his eyes. My book (Gina Ford) says that’s what I should do 🙄😂 He’s just waking up the second he’s in though and acting wide awake, when he’d been so sleepy when he was on me. After that you’re then supposed to do the crying down method but I can’t listen to him crying so if it’s proper tears I have to pick him up and start again 🤦🏼‍♀️ Hoping long term itl pay off if he can settle himself to sleep in the day as well as he can at night, even if it’s taking up my entire day right now 😂

sarah13xx · 15/10/2021 12:12

I think partly it’s probably made worse by the fact he hasn’t got a dummy and I’m sure that would be enough just to send him to sleep but I feel like we’ve made it this far without one.. 🙈

lucyrp · 15/10/2021 13:09

I made it to just over 2 months with DS with no dummy then we gave in🙈

Ready2020 · 15/10/2021 18:15

So I peed myself today. Like proper wet my pants through to the leggings. I had a lovely day in Edinburgh and met friends. Ended up a bit late for the train and had to run with my pram (Rowan asleep and oblivious). Trying to find lifts to the platform was impossible! As I was running I felt the muscles give and wetness flow Blush I really need to do my exercises.

sarah13xx · 15/10/2021 18:19

@lucyrp oh no, we could cave yet then 🙈 he’s 9 weeks, nearly 10, but don’t know what’s up with him this week.

@Ready2020 🙈 nightmare.. hope you were wearing something that you could use to style it out

Daffodil21 · 15/10/2021 18:44

@Ready2020 I was at Edinburgh station two day ago! I lucky didn't have to deal with the lifts though. Sorry to hear about you accident. I bet it was embarrassing but you won't be the only one and I'm sure no one else thought anything of it x

RandomCatGenerator · 15/10/2021 18:55

Thanks all for the cradle cap recommendations. I was sad about the musty smell so good to know it’s normal.

And thanks @PurplePansy05 for the CS info too.

@Ready2020 I’m so sorry you had that experience, what a shit way to end a good day. As others say - I’m sure it’ll have barely been noticeable and you’re not the first and nor will you be the last. I hope you’re doing ok and aren’t upset about it x

PurplePansy05 · 15/10/2021 18:59

I always take a scarf with me these days to cover leaky boobs (in case breast pads aren't enough) - could save the day if wrapped around the hips too! xx

OP posts:
Daffodil21 · 15/10/2021 19:16

I actually keep a spare dress in my changing bag in case he pees over me, and in a little bag with sanitary pads in is also a spare pair of knickers in case my first period arrives when I'm out (it never arrived when I thought it would!). You could stick these in your changing bag if you haven't already then if it does happen again at least you know you can have a quick change. I'm glad you had a nice time with your friends otherwise x

biscuitcat · 15/10/2021 19:31

Oh @Ready2020 that's rubbish! I was on the plane today back from holiday and when I was feeding my other boob leaked all over my top 😫 was quite obvious, I had to be the one to have the baby in the carrier when we got off as a disguise! I was also wearing jeans which had been milked and peed on by DS...

Ready2020 · 15/10/2021 19:48

Ah thanks guys. It wasn't too obvious as I was wearing black leggings under a black floral dress. It was more the realisation that my body hasn't healed and isn't like it was!

DD is having a proper cluster feed just now and might even feed to sleep. It's been weeks since she did that.

kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/supply-worries/fast-letdown/ this has been really interesting and explains a lot and why she never comfort feeds anymore. I'll need to offer her more feeds during the day I think and maybe hakkaa my boobs before each feed.

BertieBotts · 15/10/2021 20:34

Our wave of sickness is never ending :( DS2 started with diarrhoea today and DS3 is suffering with it too. He's just done two totally liquid poos that were obviously really painful and then had a mouthful of milk and passed out poor thing. I sent DH to get the most premium nappies we can find and extra wipes!

sarah13xx · 15/10/2021 20:48

I started my pill when I thought my period started 2 weeks ago but it turned out it wasn’t. I just kept taking the pills because I didn’t know what else to do. Now my period has arrived mid packed so I didn’t take it last night but I’m going to take it tonight from the start of another packet. No clue what I’m doing or whether that will actually stop me getting pregnant 🙈 Yet to have sex so we should be fine!

One side of my c-section scar now looks like it’s healed over and is white instead of red. Hopefully the rest looks like that soon 🤞🏼

Freddie projective vomited all over me at our class last week and I had just use a baby wipe to wipe my clothes. Somehow despite the fact I wasn’t sick on myself, I still felt embarrassed like it was something I had done 🙈 Even if I’d had a change of clothes I would have struggled to have been able to change them but driving home head to toe in wet clothes was a low point for me

BertieBotts · 15/10/2021 21:39

Sarah you can just finish the pack u have and then run straight onto the next pack without a break. If you have any placebo pills in your pack then skip those. It's quite normal to get breakthrough bleeding when you first start taking the pill so you should just keep taking as normal. If you get worried about it you can ask for advice from a pharmacist as well or I bet there is a helpline. Maybe 111 can advise? I definitely wouldn't cut a pack short. But it's fine to run two together.
