NorthernLurkerwithaSTROPon - lol - that will be my name for when I'm pre-menstrual and you'll all know when to duck!

Ellie - you and Joe and M have been in my thoughs and prayers today - I know it's hard for you to post but I do hope things have gone ok with the GP.

Eddas - good news with the liability - love the seats

Hello to everyone else!

Sexmasonlegs · 05/12/2007 17:33

Hi all

IDOC, your weekend sounded lovely! Was it the Bath Spa hotel??

POTC, how did it goe at the docs today? Have been thinking about you.

Elkie, sorry you are feeling stressed atm. Men are a different breed!

Eddas, glad you got your car seats sorted.

Hi to everyone else - I have tried to read through and have forgotten lots.

All ok here, although K is off her food and her cough sounds awful. Has gone from being chesty to almost croupy sounding. She is still a happy soul bless her. Now not sure whether I should take her to nursery tomorrow.

Had a good day - apart from the smear test (!) Had lunch at my frineds/midwifes house and her dd2 was there - aged 8 weeks. So so cute.

Hope you are all well. Catch up later. xx

NorthernLurkerwithastarontop · 05/12/2007 18:10

oh SOL - well done with the smear - I'm due one but do you know it just keeps slipping my mind.........

dd1 bit upset at end of school again - another remark had been made about 'oh you think you're so smart' It's not the odd little spats that occur that are upsetting her - well used to that - but rather the fact that these particular girls are using the fact that she is clever as a weapon to set her apart - fortunately she has lots of good friends - but I'm not letting this go on. I asked her should I speak to her teacher - and she said yes - which in itself is an indication of how upset she is because she normally says 'don't make a fuss' - she's quite chilled - I'm not - can't wait for the teenage years - not!
Anyway - I spoke to her lovely teacher who is going to chat to her tomorrow and start taking steps. I know it's the age they're at and that's it's very common with girls but I refuse to have my daughter's self esteem bashed by another child and just stand by!
Off out tonight - we're doing a 'preparing for Christmas evening' with the toddler group we do at church - demonstrations of cooking and decorations and 5 things to do with mincemeat - quite excited as I thought there was only one - and I'm not too sure about that. Anyway must go top B up shortly.....dh left in charge

geordiemacminxpie · 05/12/2007 18:36

Any news Ellie.

Seems to be another one of those weeks in our house too - after problems with dps car last week and mine this week dp came home with a cracking bit of news...He is a self employed contractor, and had been told when he finished his last contract that he had over-paid his tax and would be getting a rebate - some where in the region of 2k which was going to pay for our holiday next year, anyways his management company have fucked up and it now transpires that we oew the tax man £1600.. happy days eh - nice little treat 3 weeks before xmas and my birthday.

Forgot to mention that Christoper twin baby had an operation on his tummy and bowels at the end of last week and is recovering well. He is obviously getting stronger for them to go ahead with the operation, so thats good news.

Oh andI took the tyre back to the garage, it was a faulty valve so fixed free of charge. Just as well really

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/12/2007 18:38

Immediate referral to Paediatrician for 'failure to thrive'. The doc we saw is usually quite 'alternative', sees drugs as a last resort, likes to try everything else first, which I like, but I didn't have to argue, she looked at his red book and said she would be sending him to paeds.

I suggested that maybe I should try vitamins etc as he's not getting much in the way of solids and bf so may need topping up, so we have a script for them, just need to go get them sometime. I have a sample pot to get a urine sample from him too.

He has come home, had a milk feed from me, gave him a piece of apple and the whole lot came back up, I know how much came back as he threw it onto highchair tray!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/12/2007 18:40

actually, it's kinda worried me more that she was so forthcoming, don't know when we will see paeds though, she said may not be til after christmas

AngeGabriel · 05/12/2007 18:42

How are you feeling about Ellie?

AngeGabriel · 05/12/2007 18:42

Sorry X posts!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/12/2007 18:50

feeling a complete failure tbh

AngeGabriel · 05/12/2007 18:52

Sorry rushing! Out to singing now, be back later. Hope you're ok Ellie. Sending {{{{hugs}}}} while you're accepting them. xx

AngeGabriel · 05/12/2007 18:54

You are not a failure at all! You are doing a fantastic job of looking after your two boys. Please don't beat yourself up about this.

Will be back later. xx

geordiemacminxpie · 05/12/2007 18:56

Hopefully he will start and pick up soon Ellie. Is there any food that he particuly likes that you could try and fill him up on? Is he taking formula too or are you still ex b/f? If formula could you try adding something to it? Didnt Smole say that Jesse liked milk with banana nesquick? Steak nd chips?

It really isnt reflection on you, I know that it doesnt feel like that but he will pick up, and hopefully by the time you get referred he will be a whole load better!

liath · 05/12/2007 19:11

Ellie glad you got the referral & please don't feel a failure. Honestly though if Jonny was losing weight, sleeping loads and throwing up after feeds I'd be wanting seen before Christmas not after - hopefully Joe will perk up but if he doesn't it's worth trying to get seen sooner to put your mind at rest.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/12/2007 19:15

He usually has one bottle of ff a day, I found that on the days he didn't he was sleeping much worse, which I think was a huge coincidence, but decided to carry on and at weekends am trying to remember to give him one bottle.

It's not getting him to take it that is the problem, he will happily feed, bf or ff, it just doesn't always stay down. He feeds at about 5am, then ff once during morning, bf at 2ish, bf at 4, bf at 6, bed, bf at 9, sleeps til 5 i think. He is still taking these feeds on the whole, although he has stopped asking for milk at 2ish, but 2 feeds a day are coming back up.

He has some favourites, but he is refusing them, he loves pasta usually, but wouldn't eat it today, they said he was clamping his lips shut and hiding his eyes (little sod!). He has been eating toast and bread, and some fruit, but is nowhere near the same levels as before. I did get some 4mth jars earlier, to use as pasta sauces, and after he brought up his evening feed I gave him one of those, which he has eaten most of.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/12/2007 19:17

I do want him seen before christmas, will be calling HV to update them, and asking them if they can push for him to be seen sooner, and will try to get him weighed weekly so I can keep a better eye on it

Sexmasonlegs · 05/12/2007 19:21

Ellie, what a rough ride you are having. I really hope Joe picks up and you get an appointment soon.

And just to add - in no way are you a failure. Lo's get poorly at the drop of a hat.

Ilwym re the clamped shut mouth. I had this with K today, particularly at lunch time - even with her fave food.

liath · 05/12/2007 19:22

Sounds good. Could easily be a urine infection or something. Just not what you need I'm sure.

jingleoooggs · 05/12/2007 19:36

no failure there ellie - yours boys are a credit to you and only you and just you remember that

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/12/2007 19:41

aww, I love you guys
although I think that M's dad should take some credit too, he just called in to say goodnight to him

jingleoooggs · 05/12/2007 19:43

5% to M dad

PillockOfTheCommunity · 05/12/2007 19:46

pmsl

Maveta · 05/12/2007 20:04

Well that was a mammoth catch up and now it's about time I made tracks for bed.. it's only 9pm but somehow with one thing or another these days it can take up to an hour of 'I'll just...' and then 'oh I'll just..' before I actually give up and go.

Ellie - I think I missed the hug treaty of yesterday so won't offer in case they are blacklisted again but I am thinking of you loads and sorry you are having to deal with so much at the moment. You are a fabulous mum and love your boys so much, they are as lucky to have you as you them. Stay strong babe and kisses and hugs to your boys (surely your boys can have hugs??! )

Going away for a couple of nights but hopefully catch up at the weekend xx

elkiedee · 05/12/2007 20:09

Ellie, hope you can get Joe seen before Christmas, seems a very long time otherwise. Either that or that he picks up and starts eating and keeping it down again sooner.

No one else thinks you're a failure as a mum, you sound like you're brilliant to those two. I felt exactly that when D was taken in at a week old.

More hugs to you.

jingleoooggs · 05/12/2007 20:20

could you all please get your tape measures out and help me here please

leakythesnowman · 05/12/2007 20:23

Ellie you are a fab mum, don't feel like you've failed. Kids get ill at the drop of a hat. I hope you get an appointment with paeds soon and Joe starts to pick up a bit in the meantime. sneaking one in while I can - give it to J&M if you don't want it.

GMM - perfect timing for tax mess-up. You must be so

NL- would be interested in hearing the other 4 things to with mincemeat

Off to clean stuff. FTB coming to view flat tomorrow so keep your fingers crossed for me. I want to move into my lovely 3 bed, massive garden, decorated by a 97yr old house by springtime.
