Morning ladies

I am starting my final week of mat leave today ....next week I shall be a working mother.....I just don't know where the last 6 months have gone

DD has started to get much more interactive at feeds now ...blowing and spitting food everywhere, demanding loudly to hold the spoon herself and put it into her own mouth (who needs mummy!), grabs the bowl / bottle / spoon anything and loves risks / hates ricecakes!

She has got a dreadful rash under her chin from all the drooling presumably teething but can't see any

Hope you all had good nights with your LO's x

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 26/11/2007 07:57

loves rusks not risks....obviously

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2007 08:36

Morning Norty. I can't believe time has gone so fast . Are you going back full time?

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2007 08:40

Off to do nursery run now, back later

HaveYourselfaNortyLittleXmas · 26/11/2007 08:51

No not full time. I am very lucky as I'm doing 3 days a week and 7 hours from home.....we're going to the nursery tomorrow for our first settling in visit......

I am quite looking forward to getting back to work in some ways...its just a shame that my mat leave has gone so quickly. In over 20 years of working (god, makes me sound ancient), I have never had more than 2 weeks off work....and I have loved every minute of of these last 6 months....however, I need to go back....I am so lazy naturally than I have done nothing in the last 6 months...perhaps when I have less time available I might get off my fat arse and get things done....like housework

annobalthebignosereindeer · 26/11/2007 09:05

Good luck at the nursery Norty. LOL re doing nothing on your mat leave (except having a baby .

deckthehallswithboughsofholly · 26/11/2007 09:22

another sleepless night in the misletoe household so fruit puree and baby rice it is

norty I know what you mean about the time going quickly. don't worry about going back to work I did with ds1 and he is fine
it is only now I have the luxury of a choice not to work

fairy cafe au play is fine by me what time suits you?

holly hope the funeral isn't too bad [hugs] for your friend

annobalthebignosereindeer · 26/11/2007 09:50

Hope the funeral goes ok Holly

Andie, sorry about your sleepless nights - hope the fruit puree and baby rice works quickly!

DS3 was up 3 times in the night - he has an awful cough but seems to be getting a bit better (can almost breathe through his nose now).

We're off to the gym this morning (I sit in the lounge with DS3 and put DS1&2 in playtime ). On a more industrious note, I did go for a run yesterday (I can hardly walk up the stairs today )

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 26/11/2007 10:16

Morning. Hope the funeral is OK Holly.

Not rnough sleep here either last night. 2 nocturnal wakings (2am and 5am) plus an early start (6.15). Mind, because of travelling yesterday afternoon, she'd been asleep more on than off since about 3pm so what should I have expected? But she's continuing to be cry-ey and cling-ey and upset this morning, so have given her a little calpol. Feel a bit about turning too it so readily, but don't want her to be in pain and I have a mega pile of washing to get through, and the kitchen must be cleaned, so can't sit continuously cuddling Once she's settled a bit I'll take her through to the kitchen and she can play in her chair while she watches me work.

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2007 10:27

Hope the funeral is ok Holly

Annobal - that sounds like my kind of gym visit!

Andiem - could we do about 10:30 tomorrow?

Annobal and Foxy - are we still on for Putney on Weds?

I'm off now to make stock from the chicken carcass from last night , although I've never made stock before so not sure how successful it'll be.....

andiemisletoe · 26/11/2007 10:35

fairy 10.30 is fine for me

apples are cooking as we speak

BadZelda · 26/11/2007 14:42

OUCH I JUST SHUT MY GODDAMN FINGER IN THE DOOR
what an arse!

annobalthebignosereindeer · 26/11/2007 14:49

Ouch BZ! I did that not too long ago and my nail turned black

Fairy i should be fine for Weds - looking forward to it! Well done on the chicken stock - I make my own too (courtesy of mr kallo ).

What are you doing with apples Andie?

andiemisletoe · 26/11/2007 15:01

the apples annobal are for ds2 in the hope that providing him with some other nourishment may help him to deal with his 5x a night bf. having weaned ds1 at 4 mts am now cracking under the strain of 1.5/2hrlybf day and night he is nearly 23wks as well so don't feel tooo bad

andiemisletoe · 26/11/2007 15:01

ouch to the finger bz

annobalthebignosereindeer · 26/11/2007 15:43

Ah, of course Andie - sorry, feeling v thick today.

Sputnik · 26/11/2007 15:49

hope it works Andiem, I would've cracked weeks ago

andiemisletoe · 26/11/2007 15:53

sputnik all I can say is I'm not expecting miracles but 2x a night feeding would be a mahoosive step forward in this house

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2007 16:28

What a waste of time. I spent half the day boiling, straining and reducing the stock and it's really not very nice at all . Back to Knorr for me.....

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 26/11/2007 16:39

how did you make your stock?

andiemisletoe · 26/11/2007 17:17

fairy I use the liquid touch of taste as recommended by nigella

FairyOnTopOfTheChristmasTree · 26/11/2007 17:23

I'll try that Andie. The homemade one really wasn't worth the effort. Is really quite tastless, maybe because I'm used to salty cubes?

Jammy - I put the roast chicken carcass in a pot with water, carrot, onion, celery, peppercorns and bay leaf and simmered for a couple of hours then strained the liquid and reduced it. I will freeze it to use for DS's food eventually, as there is no salt in it, but won't bother making the minestrone soup that I originally planned it for.

nowbringussomeJammypudding · 26/11/2007 17:37

That sounds like how I make stock, except I don't bother reducing. Can't say I've tried it as is, but do think it's fine when used in other recipes.

DD has been really grumpy and clingy all day. Couldn't get her to sleep anywhere but on my lap, and even then she kept waking after short naps. Have had to give calpol twice as she was crying and crying and nothing seemed to soothe her. Poor little thing. She's finally let me lie her on the sofa to sleep, which is easier than holding her, but I daren't go off to the loo in case she tries to roll and falls off!

DaisyNightingale · 26/11/2007 19:36

jammy, h she got an ear infection or something, rather than just teething? how is her temperature?

babyboo won't settle at all tonight. Can't figure out what's wrong with her.

Got some more thrush meds today, including some anti-fungal and steroid cream for DDs bottom, so fingers crossed this will be the end of it.

Anyone know what I can wash my nappies in to de-fungal them?
