ps - lovely photos pulapula!!

pulapula · 04/01/2008 19:53

Catstar, we are doing milk first, and sometimes after too if he still seems hungry. so its something like milk at 7.30, 11.30, 3.30, 6.30 and 10.30pm and solids at 8.30, 12.15 and 5. I am planning to phase out the 10.30pm feed by bringing it forward half an hour every few days as the 'baby whisperer' suggests.

meep · 04/01/2008 20:04

What cuties pulapula!
Poo in the bath..........dd treated us to that when she was about 3 months old - came out solid and dissolved as soon as she kicked - lovely! Lol at your SH's watch catstar!
We've not had any firm poos yet - but we're only 2 days into weaning - I will keep you updated !
As we're just starting out I give dd her solids at 11am - just before her milk - she gets so little at the moment that it certainly isn't putting her off her milk! What do you more established weaners do?
I visited a friend with a 1 week old - can't believe dd was ever that tiny! To be honest I can't really remember the first 4 weeks - recovering from section/horrendous problems with bf/general baby blues - I just kept telling her that everything gets easier and it won't be long before she can actually have a shower, wash her hair and get out the house without it being a military operation!

theprecious · 04/01/2008 21:01

Cute photos - pulapula

About the poos, they tend to look very similar to how it went in, in fact sometimes you wonder why you bother in the first place.

Milk; I found that ds was a lot less bothered by the milk, and also much easier distracted whilst feeding. So I have to be careful to make sure I get lots in him during the day. In fact I think that is why his sleeping suffered after Christmas. There aren't all that many calories in veg.

Have a good weekend all.

dorisofdevon · 04/01/2008 22:22

Thanks for all you kind thoughts, LO is doing well with the weaning thing, we were encouraged by the Dr's to get to three meals a day then feed to appetite today she had three meals and then pudding after two of them. I breast feed immediately before food so she gets enough liquid. ( She's still on the bottom centile tho' and two weeks with limited or no food didn't help!) so very pleased indeed she seems to prefer the expensive Hipp jars to my humble offerings and as for brocoli I water it down a bit but then give it with sweet potato or baby rice ( however I refer back to the previous paragraph0

Feeling like a very slack mother reading the bathing part of the thread, with dd1 we did the bath to settle every night (which she loved) but poor dd2 spent first 2 weeks is hospital (so no bath there too many bugs...) and have continued in much the same vein, normally managed once a week now.... on the plus side she doesn't have ezcema ...yet!

dorisofdevon · 04/01/2008 22:33

And gorgeous photos!!

PinkPussyCat · 04/01/2008 23:08

Just popping in (on way to bed) to say hi to dorisofdevon
Really enjoying all the poo weaning stories, I am getting quite excited about it all now!

pulapula - your children are just beautiful!

PinkPussyCat · 04/01/2008 23:09

meep - meant to ask - whereabouts in Scotland are you? I am sort of in between Perth + Dundee

dorisofdevon · 05/01/2008 14:06

Quite happy to randoml;y wave at anyone tho' in my still sleep deprived state!

PinkPussyCat · 05/01/2008 14:56

Doris, I haven't changed my name I am a newbie! lol
It just took me a while to come across the post-natal clubs section!
Nice to meet you

twoplusone · 05/01/2008 20:08

Hi all hoope you all had a good xmas and new year.xx
Need to catch up with what has been going on.. if anything,, Am going to put some new piccies on profile .

Take care

twoplusone · 05/01/2008 20:47

Hi to the newbies... welcome..

On the pooh front Lees are still really runny.. think I will mention to hv when i see her as he has been on solids for a month now.. christmas went opkay.. I missed dd like mad. she came home yesterday which was great.
new year was a good night.. until my friend decided to go on a downer and leave the party.. (we all had to leave then as she didnt know how to get home.. ) mind you that was 3.30am. (MIL had the boys) I was hoping for a really good night somethingt hat we could all remember.. especially as dh goes in 5weeks... ( I am dreading it.. ) for those that remember last year.. he goes 12months to the day he came back . Trying to get house sorted and other little bits done before he goes so i dont have to much to worry about.. other than the children..
My diet starts on tuesday.. so wish me luck.. hopefully i wont be a hefa this time next year....(or even when DH gets back.. my aim is to loose atleast 3stone in the time he is away.. that gives me 1/2stone a month)

Sorry for going on..

Lee sleep through quite well now, has started going to bed at 1800-18.30 till 5.30-7.00. Both boys are bathed and not allowed back downstairs after Lee and I go and read to scott then when his story has finished I take lee to his room give him a massage and get his clothes on, then he has his last bottle.. then straight down into his cot.
DD helps too with bedtimes whilst it is dark nights anyway..lol.. she sometimes see s to scott whilst I do lee.. then we get our time quicker on the evening.

Must go DD and DH are plaing on the Wii and I want a go..lol

meep · 05/01/2008 21:17

hi twoplusone! Impressed that you were up till 3.30am - ! Is your DH in the army?
PPC I am in Edinburgh - Ladies your 2 newbies are both Scottish!!!
I took my niece to see the Sleeping Beauty ballet today - the theatre was full of little girls getting very excited! It made me feel all gooey (sad cow that I am ) to think that one day I might be taking mini-meep there!
The weaning is going well - she wolfed down her apple mush today and even opened her mouth for the spoon! DH fed her today and he looked very proud! No poo reports from me - I have managed to avoid the 2 poos she did today as DH was on duty at the time (he gave me a lie in this morning - slept till 10am - bliss!)

twoplusone · 05/01/2008 22:14

Yes meep he is in the army..

Have just downloaded some piccies of my 3..

meep · 05/01/2008 22:25

That must be tough - I know that I really look forward to DH coming home in the evening and just can't imagine what it would be like if he was away for a long time - your 3 are gorgeous - loving the pic of Lee sitting with his new toy - cute!!! DD can now sit on her own - she finds it a bit tricky on the floor but seems to manage fine if she is on my knee with her legs hanging down!
Nearly 10.30, so off to feed mini-meep then bed for me too!

PinkPussyCat · 05/01/2008 23:29

Hello twoplusone!
Hi meep, another east-coaster! I love Edinburgh. Will hopefully be jumping on a train there soon for a bit of a shopping spree (post xmas gift voucher extravaganza!)
Very of you going to the ballet, lucky girl.
Off to bed for me too now. See you tomorrow

meep · 06/01/2008 09:33

Morning ladies!
PPC I love the fact thta you are coming to edinburgh to shop - hooray for the East Coast!
I have finally posted some photos of dd if you want to have a nosey! Am not posting any of me - still have fartoo much baby weight (or is that coffee and cake weight ) to lose!

meep · 06/01/2008 09:39

and I appearto be unable to type this morning!

fartoo sounds like the sort of thing that mini-meep does

PinkPussyCat · 06/01/2008 14:15

lol @ 'fartoo!' BabyPC also very good at that sort of thing
Gorgeous pics! Love the one in the towel, very cute. Was she born in Simpson's?
I haven't yet got round to figuring out how you upload photos. Mind you, the hardest part wil be dh's new camera software, far too high tech for my computer-illiteracy... I will not be featuring in any of the photos either! While I lost the baby-weight pretty quickly, I just seem to look really knackered in them. It's a shame as i don't have a half-decent one of the two of us from the early days

Any other Scots Lasses on here then?

catstar · 06/01/2008 19:42

Not a Scots lass I'm afraid - just an Essex girl!! Well, have now escaped to Surrey but can't hide my roots (very grey at the moment!).

Twoplusone & Meep - gorgeous photos . you have inspired me to upload a few of Little O....

Feeling a bit of a zombie at the moment. Little O has decided over the last week that starting the day at 5.30am is a good idea. We can hear her in her room cooing and "chattering" as happy as anything, but no sleep - and not wanting food!!! I left her for an hour this morning before going to her and she was overjoyed to see me - which made everything ok until about midday when the fatigue set in!!! Not sure why she's changed from waking at seven (heaven!!) to 5.30am. Hopefully it's just a phase... Anyone else experiencing this?

meep · 06/01/2008 20:45

5.30am - ugh! Poor you catstar.

We're still dreamfeeding at 10.30pm so mini-meep is still sleeping through to about 7am. About a month ago she was waking at around 5.30 - I posted on MN about it and someone told me to put the heating on earlier - which seemed to work! She's still in the cot beside my bed so if she does wake it is easy for me to just give her a tummy rub to get her back to sleep. Fingers crossed it will just be a phase for Little O (who is very smiley and cute!!!).

It might be that she has just learnt how to make a new sound and is enjoying doing it more than sleep ! Isn't it great when they get so excited to see you in the morning - mini-meep waves her arms & legs about and wriggles her bottom - very sweet!

I need to get round to moving mini-meep to her own room - I just think it will be too much to start weaning, sending her to nursey and moving her to her own room all at the same time. Or maybe it is just all too much for me - I bet she'd be just fine! Thing is I now really like having her next to me.

PPC - yes, she was born in Simpsons - I see you're in the NHS - what do you do?

Jennster · 06/01/2008 21:00

We're up again (and have been for the last oo 6 weeks) once in the night between 4 and 6, but will go back to sleep after a full feed. This morning DH took ds out of the room when he woke him up going to the loo at 7ish. He didn't wake me until nearly 9am, when it was then too late to get up and go to church. I'm secretly pleased the decision was taken out of my hands.

Anybody any experience of the terrible twos? When does it finish?????

meep · 06/01/2008 21:21

No first hand expenrience of terrible twos - only glimpses of my nieces ignoring anything and everything their parents told them !

What is your terrible twoer doing?

Jennster · 06/01/2008 22:48

everything is MINE! Very embarrassing. She's attempting to assert her authority in the home....unfortunately that means she doesn't often eat much dinner....If she won't sit down and have a bib on then she doesn't get to eat it. When she starts standing up then she has finished. But I figure she doesn't go hungry. She has 2-3 bowls of allbran or porrige (3/4 of a pint of milk this morning) for breakfast, and loads of raw veg during the day. Nursery spoils her. She gets pudding there!

Jennster · 06/01/2008 22:49

At least she only bites ds now. She's stopped doing it at nursery but that then means it's only poor ds. I swear he is that big he is going to turn around a batter her back soon.
