Oh catstar - that sounds horrible for your dh!
I am with you on being a bit broody - I am 36 (nearly 37 - shudder!) so I suppose I should get a move on too! It's just trying to work out if we can afford another wee one yet . I also wonder how on earth I am going to love another baby as much as I love mini-meep! I know everyone says that you do - but I have been so bowled over by the strength of my feelings for her that it seems impossible to feel that again! What a big wuss I am
Jennster that is very funny about your shoes! Hope your dd is better?
The pic on my profile of minimeep in her towel shows her looking very serene - I think she was mid-wee when it was taken as I had to chenge the bed sheets straight afterwards!

jennster · 09/04/2008 22:01

DD still not well. She is skin and bones now. She hasn't vomited today, but now has the skids, and so has ds. At least I can carry on feeding ds, and he has plenty of meat to lose. My hands are raw from washing them and my washing machine is in overdrive. My house stinks and I haven't left the house for 5 days but for an hour on Sunday, and for a Dr's appointment on Monday.

jennster · 09/04/2008 22:06

Catstar, DD was 9 months when I got pg with ds. I haven't had a period in 3 years. Thinking about a third but intending to leave a little larger gap this time. I thought it was meant to be easier second time.

jennster · 09/04/2008 22:07

And my point was I got pregnant the first time I realised I was ovulating. Sorry am a bit dim right now.

pulapula · 10/04/2008 23:02

Hello all,

I haven't been on for a long while.

B is ok- he's had 'hand, foot and mouth' and numerous colds over the last few weeks.

He's 9.5 mo but still not on the move yet, but probably for the best!

I am also broody. After thinking DD and DS was all i wanted i've started to think about no.3. Even thought about when (next summer) as DD starts school sept 09 so i will be recovered from my c-section in time to do the school run, and get her out from under my heels!

As for easier conceiving second baby or not, I got pg 1st time with DD and DS and with m/c in between so i'm not sure, although a friend of mine who spent 2 years trying for a baby and had DS last June is due no2 in 3 months time! We might even start trying soon in case things were flukey previously and things may take longer now (i'm 36 so getting on a bit too). I'm fed up with my mini-pill, and want to see if i have periods as i didn't til i stopped bf last time. So watch this space!

Myfairone · 11/04/2008 22:01

Evening all!
All this talk of another baby has me thinking too! I always said I only wanted one but when I was out today I saw the cutest little baby clothes and it got me feeling broody!!!! And please stop saying how old you all feel...Im 38 (but don't feel a day over 60!)

I am still bf my LO (just the nightime feed)so haven't had a period in ages, I love it!!!!

I go back to work on the 28th...it makes my tummy flip thinking about it but I'm trying to remain positive. Its only for 3 days initially so hopefully won't be too bad.

Jennster, I am so sorry to hear that your DD is still not well...poor thing!
Catstar, my friend suffers from cluster migranes...the poor poor thing! I feel so sorry for your DH. I know how depressing they can be and there is really nothing you can do about them when they start is there? Im glad to hear he has a new drug to try...I hope it works for him.

With all the talk of family time with my DH he has come home from work and gone straight up the pub...nice to hear that I am being understood!!!
Can't say Im upset about it though...I get the remote and the computer!

Nite all, hope you all sleep well

Hi JAM, i keep meaning to email you about meeting up again. I will let you know some dates- Fridays are probably still best.

MFO- i find 3 days a week is nice, although even tho i have a jobshare, we're so busy i am finding it hard to get everything done. I found it hard at first, but i do enjoy work so things are good.

OrangeKnickers · 14/04/2008 10:33

catstar - I am sure this has been suggested but a friend of mine's mother had awful migraines. She was allergy tested for food and given a list of food to avoid, food she could have sometimes etc etc. The migraines basically disappeared. She's french though and I think they tested her in France. It seemed very weird that what she was eating would affect her migraines but apparently it did.

Hello OrangeKnickers (still OrangeKnickers!?!). From what we've been told, Cluster headaches are a bit different to migraines and don't have a known cause. They are linked to "grey matter activity" in the brain, but no known trigger. The good news is, DH hasn't had one for 2 nights now so we've got everything crossed that this is the end of this cycle..... .

Glad to hear I'm not the only broody one! It doesn't help that this year a few of my friends are due with their seconds.

Exciting news!!! Little O has at last decided to roll over - I think she got so fed up at nursery of waiting for attention it was her only option!

We went to Kew Gardens today and there was an animal farm - O couldn't have sunk further into her pushchair trying to get away from them. There are many things in the house she backs away from - all the plants for example. I can't walk past one without her whimpering! Also, anything yellow. She cries when she sees her yellow floor mat - I have to keep it hidden away at the mo.

Myfairone - 3 days a week will be great. 4 days for me flies by and 3 days is my dream. I'm on a three month trial, and may look at 3 days if we can at all afford it. I'm not holding my breath though.

Right, off to do an on line shop now. I need inspiration for finger foods!

Hope all well - Jennster, how's DD? Sounds like she had a nasty time. And poor you being housebound for so long - that must be soooo hard.

Myfairone · 18/04/2008 15:38

hello all,
well 3 days a week is better than 5 but i still feel like i dont want to go back at all...sadly, i have to!

just took ds for his 8 month check (at nearly 9 months) and all is well. she seemed pleased with his progress. she gave me a post natal depression questionnaire to fill out. anyway, i answered it honestly and she said that she was concerned with a couple of my answers. I explained that im feeling tearful about going back to work but have left there now wondering if i might be depressed.

can you tell me honestly if you cried before returning to work? im not crying all the time or anything like that but do get a bit teary when i think about 'the day' that i have to go back to work....

i know im making a big fuss about it but just dreading it!

okay better go...lo is asleep and i should be making the most of the time by doing something useful!

meep · 18/04/2008 19:55

MFO - you are NOT making a big fuss - and you are crying less than I did. It is a huge thing letting go of your precious little bundle of gorgeousness and trusting them into the care of people you don't know. You stress over how they will get the food/sleep/play/cuddles right because at the moment you are the only one who really knows how to do it.

I cried rivers and rivers of tears before I went back to work. I probably cried nearly every day! I remember sitting on the sofa with dh sobbing my heart out - I just felt that minmeep was too tiny to go and be looked after by strangers - it broke my heart.

I have now been back at work for 3 months and can honestly say that I feel much better for it. I feel like me again and while I miss minimeep so so much it just makes the days I have with her so much better.

I scored really high on both my depression tests - higher on the second one - though I think it was because I was brave enough to be completely honest.

MFO - it will take around 3 weeks back at work before you know whether it is for you or not.

Please try not to worry - talk to your dh - he will let you know if you are not yourself.

catstar · 19/04/2008 21:13

MFO - I have to echo Meeps words! Being honest in those questionnaires is the hardest thing. I was the same and said I was concerned about how I would cope with going back to work. I found looking at various threads in the Going back to Work and Nursery sections of Mumsnet a great help. All of my friends are SAHM's and I think I grew a bit resentful of them, and of my DH. Let's just say I didn't marry him for his money .

I've been back at work now for 6 weeks and have to say I'm only just over the tears. Now I'm feeling guilty because I think I might be enjoying it !!! Little O is so happy at nursery and now starts bouncing up and down and shrieking with laughter as we go in the door. I say goodbye to her and she doesn't bat an eyelid! When I look back, she's either licking the butter off her toast, or stealing her little friend Angela's!!! I even walk down the hill to the station now with a smile on my face and look forward to reading my book for 20 mins.

I think I would still rather be a SAHM, but I'm now a bit happier with my lot!

Glad your DS had a good 8 month test. We haven't had one yet - did you have to make an appointment or were you contacted? Little O is now 9 months, but have heard nothing?

Hope you are all having good weekends. DH is over is headaches so we're all happy again here! A bit disappointed in the weather though.

JennsterSlugSlayer · 19/04/2008 21:33

Catstar. Ds not had his 7/9 month check yet. We were given an appointment over a week ago, but had to cancel as dd had d&v, and just got another for a week on monday when he will be over 9 months. It's just a guide. DD had her 2 year check at 20 months and her friend had his at 28.

Going back to work in 3 weeks. On a positive note I've just booked a summer holiday.

meep · 20/04/2008 09:44

I've not been contacted for a 9month check either - are we meant to arrange it ourselves - is it with the hv or the doctor? I don't even know how much she weighs - as far as I can see she is growing our of clothes at a rapid rate - her cheeks are always chubby and she seems to be doing the things other babies her age are doing (though still no teeth or crawling yet ) so I'm not worrying!

catstar - I also felt guilty when I realised that I was enjoying being back at work - but 3 months down the line the novelty of work has worn off and when I get bored or stressed I just want to be home with her again! Glad LittleO has a wee pal - it is so sweet seeing them snatching toys/toast from each other!

Nursery has really helped us with finger food - when I put food in front of minimeep now she makes a lunge for it and starts stuffing in her mouth - very funny!

She's no longer the littlest baby in teh nursery now - there is a wee 6mo just started and I couldn't believe how massive minimeep looked next to her - isn't it amazing how quickly they grow!

Jennster - of your summer hol - my dh is scared of flying so we will be holidaying a la bonny scotland this year - fingers crossed for good weather!
