Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
madmumNika · 28/01/2008 23:21

sorry for typos - really should use that preview option!! I type quickly but badly!!!

Myfairone · 29/01/2008 13:44

Madmum, I don't care about the typos, thank you so much for the advice!

I went back to the doctor today and saw the health visitor who took one look at the rash and said its an obvious allergic reaction to the formula. I explained that the doc had no time for me and didn't listen when I tried to explain my concerns (I have a ton of allergies, dairy being one of them!) and she left the room returning 5 minutes later with the Dr.

The doc was apologetic and said 'maybe I didnt listen to you properly yesterday as I was busy'!!!!!!!!!!!

Upshot of it all is that they have prescribed a formula (and I'm guessing its the one thats tastes horrid) for me to try.

I am planning on bf for as long as i can before I go back to work and then hopefully LO will take to the nasty stuff!

I am so stressed by all this. I feel so guilty. I feel like its my fault and I don't want him to have to go through what I went through with my allergies.

OKay, pulling myself together now and going to drink a nice cup of tea!

big hugs
x

my fairone gld you are gettng things sorted.. how is lo..

DH flight is def othe 10th feb now.. he got given his manifest yesterday. The first lot are going on saturday, O si should be greatefull i get an extra week with him. lots planned.. Have decided i want dome new furniture in the front room so we are getting that and getting it all set up before he leaves.
We got a wireless keyboard and mouse yeaterday.. it is great other than the keyboard is in german.. so some of the keys are in unususal places.. luckily we can all touch type near enough but it is of putting. I have emailed the company asking for an english keyboard overlay as think it will confues ds next year when he stars to look at letter properly, etc and there are weird letters on our keybord compared to school.

Both my littlemen have flaked out, Scott on the sofa and lee in the playpen. should really get soemmore chores done beforethey wake up..

2plusone, im glad you get an extra week with dh (but still very sad for you that he has to go again), I really cannot imagine how difficult it must be to see the one you love go off like that. I am full of admiration for you and also for him.

Its really hard to type using a foreign keyboard...be much easier if you can get an overlay.

justabout, thanks for the recommendation. Im still waiting to see if lo has eczema or if this is just a very fast acting allergic reaction to the 2oz of formula he had!!!!

picked up the prescription formula today and my god this stuff is foul! i tasted it and my instant reaction was to gag....tried 3 oz on lo and after initially spitting it out he settled into it and drank it! bless him. I guess that makes him more like his father than i thought....drink anything!

pulling myself together now and hoping to get some sleep tonight.

big hugs to all. nite nite

MFO- we were trying dd2 with nutrimigen ( the hydolysed proteins which taste yuk- believe me i tried it) as dd1 is cows milk protein intolerant ( as is dh) the dietician recomended starting with 3/4 ebm 1/4 formula decreasing as the feed is tolerated 1/2 and 1/2 and so on

However given the need to get volume into dd2 i have reviewed my concerns regarding the phtoeastrogen and tooth decay issue associated with soy based formula and gone for that instead as given the amount of nasty stuff that dd2 already has to deal with I think that a sweet forula that she can tolerate is the least of our worries.

HTH oh and I to you all I do read regularly just don't post too often!

( even though he is happy with me as I am.. i hate all the wobbly bitsand cant feel sexy..lol_)

If I remember righty i did this with the other two when they reached 6 months weight started to come of.. then I had to really try after that.. I a one of these women that look at a cream cake and puton 1/2a stone..

off to have a cuddle with Lee now and a play before we pick Scott up form nursery

Take care all.xx

twoplusone · 31/01/2008 10:12

have added some piccies of lee if interested.xx

MelissaM · 31/01/2008 14:19

Hi all

2+1 glad you get an extra week with dh. And well done with the weight loss. The piccies of Lee are lovely. He's a cutey.

justabout - thanks for the recommendation (I live in Winchester). If dd does turn out to have exzema I will bare it in mind. We think now that she just had a reaction to some soap powder which we have stopped using.

dod - glad you have made a decision on the right forumla for dd2. Hope she gets on ok with it.

myfairone - sorry you had probs with doc but glad sorted now and you have been taken seriously.

Hope everyone is ok and sorry for not being around much the last week or so. Not sure what I have been doing!

theprecious · 31/01/2008 17:15

hello all, everyone is so chatty that I can't keep up. I have managed to read the thread but not reply. I second all of MelissaM's comments!

We are all good here. Ds was doing some lovely sleeping through but after two busy weekends has started waking up at 1.30/3am again. He seems fine, not hungry, not upset, just wanting to play......so we are up for two hours.

I think we are going to try the demon CC soon. Poor little mite is so tired in the day, he's all pale. I would love to blame it on teething but I just don't think it is, there aren't other signs.

Ug ug ug - sorry to go on, compared with lactose intolerant babies, Husbands in Afghan, and various illnesses I am a whinging old bag.

I hope everyone is well and here's to happy (sleeping) babies.

justabout - that would be great. Then you can see I don't look anything like my piccies (much more tired and worn out looking in real life).

Right - off to make some more mush for DD. She had fish today with veggies in a cheese sauce and ate it all. I think she enjoyed it the way she kept wanting to put her hands in the bowl and then tried eating it when it was empty!!!

Swedes · 01/02/2008 14:15

Hello all. A question for you all. My July 2007 born baby is not yet sitting up - he is so lazy. I prop him up with pillows but he just collapses in a heap. He roll over back to front but not front to back - hopeless.

clur79 · 01/02/2008 14:20

My July baby does sit up, but has only just learnt to roll from back to front (the other day). Much to my dismay as he keeps rolling in his cot and getting stuck!!

Jennster · 01/02/2008 16:04

Hello you two. DS can't sit properly but is rolling everywhere both ways, and moving around, although not crawling just yet

meep · 01/02/2008 20:15

Evening all!
DD sits on her own (with strategically placed cushions round her as her wee windmilling arms can cause an imbalance!) and loves standing (with me holding her hips) - but has never ever rolled - so she stays in one place and I ain't encouraging her otherwise !
MelissaM - I have made fish in cheese sauce - not tried it yet but you have given me hope that it might go down well!
2+1 - fab weight loss - what is your secret? (and lovely cute pics!)
Myfairone - glad you're getting somewhere with eth rash. Minimeep has it on her wrists now and I don't want to put steroids on them cos she muight lick them.
theprecious - lol at whinging old bag!
Well minimeep has survived another week of nursery - she had a reprieve on Monday due to the vomit - but was back Thurs & Friday. She now has a snotty nose and horrid cough
I have been told to expect all sorts of germs for a month or so and then she'll get used to it - but it's rotten to see her get one thing after another! Other than that the meeps are all well - and I am looking forward to watching tv till late with a glass of wine cos DH is on the early shift tomorrow

Myfairone · 01/02/2008 20:22

Meep, im so sorry to hear minimeep is suffering..i hope she feels better soon.

twoplusone - well done on the weightloss...wow! i really must get back to 'trying' again! Its just so hard when everything else comes first though.

my ds can roll one way but not back yet (makes things interesting when he's in his cot and i'm in the shower!
he can sit unaided for a short while but as soon as he moves his head he topples. he is just fascinated by his feet and socks right now. bless him

clur79 · 01/02/2008 21:06

Myfairone - my son loves his socks as well, in fact so much I have to remove them at nap time otherwise he pulls them off and stuffs them in his mouth - mmm wondered why he was quiet!!!

theprecious · 01/02/2008 21:18

another sock lover here! Off with the socks and straight in the gob. Ds can sit on his own but will topple if he sees something interesting out of reach.

We are doing lots of standing practise too as my Mum thinks we can go almost straight to walking without crawling much. She claims my sisters and I did this. I will let you know. Dh thinks I am mad.

Poor minimeep but I have heard that the more germs they get early on the better.....? That doesn't make it easier tho.

Am thinking about going back to work for four days a week......My boss is V understanding (has a one year old and wife is preggers with twins) so it is up to me. Any advice over three versus four days?

meep · 01/02/2008 21:31

I do 4 days - Wednesdays off.
I am finding that I have to change the way I work - no more "oh, I'll just do that tomorrow" and I also have 2 Monday morning feelings (ugh) but 2 Friday feelings (hooray!). I am also doing the exact same job but in 4 days - fun!
Minimeep is with my folks one day a week so she is only in nursery 3 days and only for 2 days in a row max which is what I wanted.
I suppose it depends on what you can afford and how ambitious you are? For me, if I went down to 3 days I reckon I wouldn't have any chance of promotion - but with 4 days at least I am seen to be there. I was originally going back full time - but there is just something about those cute wee snuggly bundles of babyness that turns your priorities round, so 4 days it is!
But

Myfairone · 02/02/2008 08:51

It seems that socks are more popular then toys then!

I was going back full time too but as meep said, there is just something about this whole 'baby experience' that changes things enormously.
I asked DH if we could survive with me doing a paperound but he just laughed!
I have planted the seeds with my boss about going back part time. I would ideally like to do 3 but not sure we can live on that money. Maybe I will do 3 days for a while and then 4....really hate to think about it.

Hope you all have a great day! Suns out here so its starting out well.
Big hugs to all.

pulapula · 02/02/2008 11:13

I will be going back to work 3 days a week, but using the leave I built up whilst on mat leave to fund a day off a week in the short-term (I was working 4 days a week since having DD). That way I can test how I feel about 3 vs 4 days, and when my leave has gone, I will decide whether the extra money or the extra day off is more important.

Like Meep, I used to have Weds off. DD was in nursery 2 days a week, with DH one day and with my mum the other.

When I go back I'll be doing Mon-Weds. I'm lucky because I have a job-share who started when I was last on mat leave and she does 4 days a week, so hopefully things won't be too busy (although she's got a 3 week hol planned a couple of weeks after I return).

Myfairone · 02/02/2008 16:54

Pula, that sounds like a nice compromise.

We had a great day today...LO managed to roll over and back again (but with a bit of a head bump on his return!)

Gotta go, he requires his tea!
