Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
twoplusone · 14/01/2008 18:31

Ment to say Dh date sdefo the 8th Feb which gives us a few extra days together.. however is is away the beginning of next week for 3days and was in the uk last week for 3days!!! I think if we totaled up the amount of time e has spent away last year I will be lucky to say he was at home for 4 months.... (with allt he little courses here and there he has been on.. it was 4months solid away.. a 6wk course and loads of other little 1weekers.. and excersises..)
THat sounds like I am whinging I am not.. sorry if it sounded like that. I am sure the kids will keep me plenty busy...lol

meep · 14/01/2008 19:27

whinge away 2+1 - that's what we're here for! It must be really tough for you.
Thanks for thinking of minimeep everyone - she seems totally fine now - a bit of rapid breathing when she coughs but nothing like Saturday night thankfully! PPC ,she was seen at outpatients - so not actually admitted, just checked over.
We haven't started with cups yet - we've got a "magic handle" that you can put on an avent bottle here. I've also ordered a Doidy cup here - it hasn't arrived yet though!
I have been told not to use cups with valves (non-spill/leak ones) because it can damage teeth when they are older - is that right? I have one beaker and the valve is removeable. Anyone know any more about this?
PPC, I was also kind of dreading weaning - but am loving it now. 2+1 good to know about the fromage frais - I have some but didn't know whether I could give it yet.
Minimeep spent her first hour at nursery today - I cried while I was there (oh the shame ) more cos she was happily playing with the carer and her toys and didn't check whether I was there or not for a good 15 mins! I will be leaving her on her own tomorrow for a couple of hours - cue more tears

twoplusone · 14/01/2008 21:08

bless you meep... tbh I was thinking of putting Lee into creche one morning a week then getting them to pick scott up from nursery and have him for 1.5hrs so that I can go shopping for the weekly food kid free.. but they dont take babies.. only a year plus.. So will have to do it with lee.. wont be to bad once he can sit in the trolly.. DD gets stressed when we all go as scott runs riot or if in the trolly (meaning we then need two) he takes things of the shelf as we go along..lol..

TBH havent thought about using a cup yet.. I didnt with the other two until they were a year old.. both of mine had bottle till 2.5yrs.. only for bed though..

twoplusone · 14/01/2008 21:08

ment to add glad minimeep is ok now..

pulapula · 14/01/2008 21:21

meep -glad to hear minimeep is ok- must have been scary.

2+1 - i remember how much you missed DH when you were pg, but like you say, i'm sure the kids will keep you busy!

I am really enjoying weaning DS, apart from the nappies- yuck! He's had 8 different veg, 4 fruits, weetabix, readybrek, fromage frais and good old babyrice. He's eaten everything except brocolli, which was a bit grainy.

As with DD, from 7mo, we plan to use jars. We used to give her half a savoury jar with some homemade veg and fruit after. However i've borrowed a friends 'beba babycook' which is great for steaming and blending small quantities of food, so i may end up pureeing more of our meals for LO.

And DS has a tommee tippee 2 handled cup too- it was cheap (95p!) and DD had the same too as her first cup. They do leak, and he doesn't seem to like his water anymore and screws up his face and then clamps his mouth shut!

Myfairone · 14/01/2008 22:17

Twoplusone - YOu can whinge away, I really admire you! I whine when DH goes to the gym, god only knows what i'd be like if he had to go away like your DH. I hope that the time really flys by for you and hopefully he can get home inbetween.

The cup I bought LO is a two handled tommy tippee. It does leak but for the most part LO seems to keep it the right way up!

Im taking it slowly weaning LO but only for my own peace of mind. I have food allergies so need to be careful. He loves baby rice and so far the Plum Baby Sweet potato seems to be his favourite vegetable dish with the Organix pureed apple coming a close second.

Well, just finished my 10pm feed so its bed for me.
Nite all.

Catstar - yes we do put toys in Evelyn's cot - keeps her occupied when she wakes up at 4.30 in the morning, without her crying (usually) and she often sucks on them to go back to sleep. Beats crying for my boobs

Jennster - good luck with the scan. Don't worry about ds not being able to sit up unsupported - I keep being told that most don't really get the hang of it until 8 mths. If they sit early they tend not to roll over (like my dd who has no interest in rolling).

MFO - no idea sorry. We're still bf'ing too, but I am really confused by how to know if dd is getting enough, or whether she should be cutting down or not! Guess I will find out soon enough.

Meep - sorry to hear minimeep hasn't been well. and glad to hear she is much better now.

Right gotta go as lo waking after her second nap today!!! Not sure what's going on, but dh did wake her at 5am when getting up to catch a flight. Will catch up more later

PinkPussyCat · 15/01/2008 11:57

Well said justabout! I really feel we should be 'bigging up' the boys + girls in our armed forces, we should be more vocal as a nation about how proud we are of them.

twoplusone · 15/01/2008 13:48

thank you ..

MelissaM · 16/01/2008 14:25

here here...

MelissaM · 16/01/2008 15:57

Just added some pictures to my gallery if anyone is interested. Why didn't you tell me it was that easy!

Myfairone · 16/01/2008 17:45

afternoon all, ive had a great day today because i got sleep last night! woohoooo!

melissa, your piccies are great, and little evelyn grace is absolutely adorable! thanks for sharing (didnt realise it was easy to put pics on there, should try it myself).

big hugs to all

Jennster · 16/01/2008 17:58

Oh you make me sick MelissaM! How did you get to look so gorgeous seconds after giving birth? I had a homebirth too, but I did NOT look like THAT.

twoplusone · 16/01/2008 17:58

lol.. will have a look now..

Jennster · 16/01/2008 18:00

And mine wasn't a waterbirth like my picture suggests..ribbet.

twoplusone · 16/01/2008 18:01

Evelyn grace is adorable.. loads of hair..

I never seem to do close up piccies must start to use the zoom on our camera..lol.. The only one I have straight after birth is from theother end of the room and it shows all my rolls of fat on my back ...0 nice not..lol

meep · 16/01/2008 19:24

I love the one just after she was born - and the one of her eating her toys!!! Your hair looks perfect in the first one - how did you manage that - I have big black & yellow circles under my eyes with nasty scraggy hair (you're not getting to see them!)
Great pic of you and your dh Jennster!

Myfairone · 16/01/2008 20:29

I am sure that we all looked beautiful after birth! (yeah right!!!!)
For some reason no-one wanted my picture

Was just sitting counting my blessings tonight as I fed my DS. Having him has been the most wonderful and fulfilling experience of my whole life. Sorry if I'm starting to sound all emotional...I think its time for a cup of tea and a sit down!

Nite all

PinkPussyCat · 17/01/2008 11:39

Wow MelissaM - fab photos!

The pics of me just after ds was born are truly shocking! I will never show them to anybody

Hope everyone is ok, it's been quiet the past couple of days hasn't it?

We are going to start ds on a wee bit of porridge at the weekend - joy!

See y'all later

MelissaM · 17/01/2008 12:57

Hi All
Thanks for the compliments. I think Evelyn is adorable too, but then I am biased . I look a load better in the birth piccie than I do now, that's for sure. I could always add the picture of my on g&a - that would make you all feel better - definitely in the spaced-out-zone in between contractions!
Meep - my hair had been straight...
Jennster I love the picture of you and dh
2+1 - I always use zoom if I can - otherwise you would see what a state my house is! Photoshop is also good for cropping photos (otherwise you would all see much more of my boobs than I or you'd like!)

Myfairone - glad you got a good nights sleep. Wish I had! And we have hardly any pictures of me with Evelyn - there are loads of dh though

DH away until friday and I have been finding it difficult to sleep. I think I am worried that I won't wake up if DD cries (like that's ever happened!) and for some reason DD has been waking about 4am and singing. Then she starts winging, and eventually crying after about 45 mins so I have had to go in to settle her. I did try ignoring her last night, but somehow, she had managed to wriggle up the bed (not disturbing the covers) and was freezing.

PPC - good luck with the porridge!

dorisofdevon · 17/01/2008 15:02

hi to you all

gorgeos photos melissam

Am having 5 mins of mummy time before all hell breaks loose again (that was the plan but dd2 is now on my knee!)

DD1 has also just got up... quiet time was nearer "fairy elephant time".

Don't know about anyone else but I am more knackered now than ever, "they" are taking it in turns to wake at night and getting through the day feels like an endurance race. Also finding dd1 more difficult at the moment, she's tired from not sleeping properly and her behaviour is worse than usual (she's usally pretty good)

Have been having a few bad mummy moments over the past couple of days please tell me I'm not alone!!!!!!

Note to self must go to bed earlier

meep · 17/01/2008 15:12

I'm with you there doris - I tend to get to bed around 11pm and I really should be going at around 9.30pm!

Minimeep had 3 hours at nursery yesterday (settling in time) which was over one of her nap times. Did she sleep - did she hell - it was far too exciting for sleep. She is one ofthese babies who sleeps really badly at night if she doesn't get her daytime naps. So last night was a bit up and down!

She also delighted me with a poo in the bath again last night - ugh!

She's in nursery for a full day today - I've been shopping (to buy a larger sized suit for work ), caught up with phonecalls and watched tv. I am now really really beginning to miss her

PPC minimeep loves her porridge - it tastes quite sweet so that's probably why

MelissaM is your dd in a grobag? That solved our cover traumas!

Jennster · 17/01/2008 16:13

Both of them asleep right now, so folding nappies, putting washing on and tidying up...well maybe not. Gave ds some banana and yoghurt last night (just a couple of mouthfuls) and had to change my pajamas three times as I got puked on 3 times on the trot. Yuk. He is feeding every 3 hours now, but really not interested in food. I got the 'is he on solids yet?' from my mil today, but no tutts yet.....

DD's birthday today. we had a poo on the bathroom floor too
My neighbour came round this morning and brought dd a better present than we gave her It's very generous of them but she's only 2!

DOD you are not alone with bad mummy moments. Beleive me.

twoplusone · 17/01/2008 16:51

Happy birthday to you dd jennster..
