I know what people mean about the patter of tiny feet now, I was just in the kitchen and heard a pattering then a tiny face appeared round the door

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2007 08:53

Bless SPB Was thinking of you the other day - I don't know if you can stop T coming into the kitchen, but if you can't might I suggest giving him a cupboard all of his own!!? Pop safelt catches on all the other low cupboards except one, then fill this cupboard with lots of exciting stuff that is safe (pots, pans, wooden spoons etc) ... he'll love it and hopefully let you get on for a while

I would take him personally Pesha .....

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2007 08:59

The problem with our kitchen is we have ceramic tiles on the floor, and if he gets tired / incredibly angry he tends to just 'collapse' crying Plus it would be really cold! I've started just pulling the playpen over the door if I need to be in there for more than a minute or so.
Am having BLW problems as well, really stupid ones! Off to post in weaning.

Eddas · 13/11/2007 09:07

i know it's not just my dh but it's so annoying. Thanks though, at least we're all having the same 'issues'

Can't remember how old dd was when she stopped the crying when you leave, but ds doesn't apear to do it. I think a cimbination of dd and cbeebies helps

The floor business is worrying. With dd we had laminate in the whole of downstairs. DS has a scummy carpet which the old owners left, but he's sick so much it's not getting changed til he stops! But we have steam cleaned it

Right really must be off now, 25 mins til dd is out of my hair for 2.5 hours

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2007 09:28

Yes, tis good to know we are not alone, Eddas!

Ooooh yes - recommend getting a couple of Baby Einstein DVDs SPB - All of mine were mesmerised for a short hwile so I could get on with a few bits ....

Unbelievably ..... P STILL sleeping!!!!!!!!

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2007 09:34

STILL sleeping .......

underwire · 13/11/2007 10:39

Flippin' 'eck CD, she must have been exhausted!!

Eddas, know where you are coming from. Had it out with dh over the weekend as he asked why I was so miserable. To be fair he did listen and has been more helpful since. We shall see how long it carries on.

Maveta, you may have gone already, but I would go to the baby group. They will get coughs and colds all the time anyway whether you take them to such groups or not. Its how they build a good immune system. Ds was ill all the time up until he was about 3, but now he fights things off pretty quickly. He now has an immune system which is more efficient than mine!!

SPB, I love hearing about T crawling. F is desperate to get moving but isnt quite able to yet. She lies on the floor like a big slug and gets very frustrated!!

I have been to the gp this morning. I am having major issues with my weight (which is rapidly getting out of control). It is really starting to get me down and I dont seem to have the ability to get my eating under control. It sounds so ridiculous when I hear myself say that. Anyway, gp was so lovely and told me I wasnt daft and that she would help me. Feel better for having been and spoken to her. She has given me some medication (which I am a bit reluctant to take) but I suppose as a short term thing it might be ok. I have to go back in 4 weeks to see her again, and maybe get another months supply if it is working. We shall see

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2007 10:48

Wo Dippy, have I got this right, this is since 6.45 last night??
Hi mammyjo, we had weeks of frustration with T, the crawling when it happened was fairly quick (the progress I mean, not the crawling itself!)
Glad you feel better now you've spoken to the doctor, I know what you mean, I can't stop myself eating the wrong things, but when I was pg and worried about gestational diabetes, I stopped eating anything sugary. So I can do it if it's important enough

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2007 10:50

Glad the GP was so nice and helpful, UW - I know howy ou feel about "medication" - I am always very wary too; but if it becoming "ridiculous" as you say, then perhaps it is worth a try - Like the GP said, it can be reviewed in 4 weeks time when it has had a chance to make some difference.....

STILL asleep ..... should I be worried!!!?

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2007 10:52

I eat loads of crap!

Sexonlegs · 13/11/2007 11:07

Blimey CD, I assume you have checked up on P??

She she must be exhausted.

Have to run. x

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2007 11:19

Does anyone else's LO grab hair as soon as they are picked up? Ouch!!

Frankendooby · 13/11/2007 11:48

Yes Stealthpolar...M does it and it blinkin well hurts dosen,t itThanks for all your supportive postsI used to be a paediatric nurse..but found that no help whatsoever.I think i will go on a childrens resus course that is a very good idea.Hope you all have a lovely day.I am going to try to read the posts when M in bed as dp around at the mo and can occupy ds1

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2007 11:53

Well she finally woke up at just gone 11pm - tbh, I just peeked into her room to check on her again and she was lying there on her back (she sleeps on her front usually) just staring at me - She gave me the biggest grin when she saw me - bless! Am a little concerned though as she is being much quieter than usual - no crying etc when I leave the room - just sitting quietly in her bouncy chair - unsual for her (but quite nice for me, I have to admit ) Just quite "subdued", iykwim!!? She's just eaten 2 big bowls of cereal and has done quite a big sick and is sitting there holding her spoon and staring at it. Hoep this isn't the beginning of some nasty illness.

underwire · 13/11/2007 12:24

Oh bless her. Hope she is ok. She obviously needed that mammoth sleep!

Dooby, I am a paeds nurse and it is no help whatsoever to me!! I can be very objective with friends children, and give them sensible advice, but with my own the motherly instinct kicks in and I cannot be sensible!! I panic over the slightest things!

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2007 12:32

Right, well now she is all up and dressed and fed and wotnot I'm going to take her for a little walk to blow away the cobwebs and meet up with a friend for coffee!

"See" you lovely ladies later ......

CaptainDippy · 13/11/2007 12:41

Just went downstairs to pop her coat on and she is asleep again on the sitting room floor!! Poor thing, she must be poorly.

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2007 14:22

poor p

NorthernLurker · 13/11/2007 14:29

Hi B slept ok after 12 last night - but in bed with me - it was obviously what she needed to do as I felt her relax as soon as we snuggled down - so why do I feel bad about this and like it is inadequate of me somehow? A proper third-time mother should be able to persuade her daughter to sleep all night in her own cot!

Further inadequate mothering as dd1 couldn't find anything to wear for school today. I don't know how but all her clothes have been eaten by the washing monster and none have been removed from his ravening maw - yet the rest of us have clothes ready (bit of a close thing for me - drying trousers at 8.15) Anyway I found dd1 crying quietly because she was going to have to wear a pair of trousers that she hates (see more bad mothering - I didn't know that) Found a nice dress instead and scambled around for tights phew but still feel rubbish about it - and poor dd2 - didn't take much notice of her at all just walked to school too quick for her legs ( we were late of course)
Then went into town on the way to baby group, went into well known store to look in children's section for a jacket for dd1 for Christmas, fitted into tiny lift, up to the floor (because of course no shop ever has the kids stuff DOWNSTAIRS) - no kids stuff - apparently they don't do it anymore grrrrrh - and going in and out of tiny lift woke B before she'd been asleep long so she got tired before the end of baby group.

Oh somebody slap me quick!
