Here you go Eli!

I almost put 'your clothespegs' on the end there. Ds loves clothespegs. Came home from Rainbows the other day and dp had made a deal with ds. He could play with the clothespegs as long as he did it in his playpen and let dp make dinner.

All this talk of cake is making me hungry! I am cheating for DS's birthday - getting my mum to make a hedgehog cake complete with milk and white chocolate buttons for spikes! YUM!

Would be very grateful for suggestions about what to do at DS's party. Will have 8 babies so thought of making up a CD of action songs like Hokey Kokey etc. so the mums can dance about with the babies?
Am having party bags too, so thought Magic Stars & bubbles. What do you think?

Totally OTT for DS I know, but i want to celebrate!!

castlesintheair · 13/12/2007 13:51

Happy birthday to all the birthday boys and girls. Sooooooooooooooo busy at the moment I only have time for a quick log-on. Hope everyone is well and enjoying the pre-christmas festivities. Will try to read and catch up ... one day! Life is just great here I've just been interviewed for 'Junior' magazine, so if anyone reads it, erm, there you go!

jabberwocky · 13/12/2007 15:38

Congrats, castles I keep meaning to post on your other thread, btw. Just having trouble keeping up with the two I'm on right now! Ds1 just had OT eval and we have some home therapy to start. Now I have to juggle that with his play therapy appts...

accessorizewithbabysick · 13/12/2007 17:49

Have to look out for that , castles
I've failed to do cake, there is no chance to do it before the morning. Haven't eaten most of the day, so busy with work and got to go out and make pleasant conversation in an hour. Feel like v.bad mummy as all I got was ordinary fudge cake from tesco!

Calmriver · 13/12/2007 22:41

Come on girls.....A meet up around Kingston/Richmond/Ewell/Barnes...wherever!!!

Our little ones are getting big now!!!

How about a day in Jan...when school is back, so after say the 10thish!!!???

Eli?WB?and all the others????

xxxxx

accessorizewithbabysick · 14/12/2007 07:01

Wish I could!
Came home last night at 11 after (very enjoyable) works do and dp had decorated the cake I'd forgotten I'd ordered from tesco like a pirate face! Bless him, he even made icing

Indith · 14/12/2007 10:25

Go AQ's Dh!

OP posts:
babypowder · 14/12/2007 14:42

AQ, we love your DH!

How, exactly, does one administer Calpol to a very-nearly one year old who clamps her little jaws shut and/or spits out what little one can get into her mouth? Her temperature is 39C, and I really think she could do with some paracetemol!

Indith · 14/12/2007 15:13

I have been known to resort to squirting it from the syringe right to the back of ds' mouth as he screams so he has no choice but to swallow

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 14/12/2007 16:53

Syringe it into the side of her mouth BP. That's what they do in hospital. 39c isn't a worry though. You can always add it to milk/drink in cup.

castlesintheair · 14/12/2007 16:56

CR, I am game for a meet up in the NY. Am in Richmond btw.

Jabber, our dreamer thread has gone a bit quiet but you'd probably find it interesting reading. Know what you mean about fitting everything in: DS has 3 different therapy sessions a week which have to fit round after-school entertainment. Poor DD2 she never gets a proper sleep as she is just carted around everywhere.

GodzillasBumcheek · 14/12/2007 20:25

and a little at stories about birthday cake! DD3s birthday today...lovely day! We didn't do anything special, but the presents went down extremely well.

Would've been nice if she could have had 'proper' birthday cake. Instead she had a lovely fluffy (and very cheap - i'm no cook) Victoria Sponge with real cream in...and a very wonky number 1 on top (done with writing icing by me ). She still isn't managing much chewing of anything, unfortunately.

Oh, and now we know she doesn't like jelly (she refused the second mouthful point blank - but accepted more cake, the little piggy).

babypowder · 14/12/2007 21:01

I'm getting really excited about DD2 birthday! We haven't bought her much - just a couple of toys just for her (rather than DD1s hand-me-downs), but we are both taking the day off to do something fun with her. Poor old DD1 will be at school, but we'll have a little family party when she gets home. I'm going to make a chocolate cake. Part of me (the food fascist that I'm trying to indict for crimes against pleasure)keeps niggling away, warning me that I'm sending her on a dangerous path. The other part (the glutton, who loves chocolate more than life itself) keeps insisting that it will do her absolutely no harm whatsoever. I didn't have these internal battles with DD1 - very odd.

Thankfully, the glutton is winning

Calmriver · 14/12/2007 21:23

DD1 is getting such a monkey at the moment...really testing me!!! I feel like she is trying to get more attention, but I try so hard!
I have just done another swimming teaching course(hense lack of MN'ing) which has taken 10 weeks, and its really taken out of them I think.....there was so much paperwork!!!I was up till all hours doing it and felt like i was rushing them off to bed at night, but I need some me time!

Anyway its got to be time for another hot drink now,xxx

FrostyGlassSlipper · 14/12/2007 21:24

I am a lot less stressed out about food this time around and DD2 eats anything we are having, including chocolate, jam on toast etc. She is such a pig though and will eat absolutely anything (except cauliflower).

I might be able to make a meet-up. Would need to talk to DH about it as I've never met anyone off t' 'net before and he may be worried. iykwim

Anyway, DD2 did the most adorable thing today. She 'roared' like a lion and 'moo#ed' like a cow!!!! We made her do it again and again as were so in love and proud

DD1 has also in her own highly strung stroppy way melted my heart this week as she drew a picture of 'mummy with a heart' because "i love you soo much mummy"

sob!

SantasUnderGodzillasBumcheek · 14/12/2007 21:27

It IS time for another hot drink!

A lovely whisked milky hot chocolate (Options, Belgian Chocolate), topped with mini marshmallows and grated dark chocolate.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm [sigh]

Calmriver · 14/12/2007 21:53

Oh Santa!!! That sounds really yummy!

Frosty...I know the net is a scary place to meet people, but it would be really cool,x

babypowder · 14/12/2007 22:16

I have just tried, and failed (again) to give DD2 Calpol. Even with a syringe, she just holds it in her mouth and then spits it out again. Its distressing her, and me. At what point do I have to worry about having paracetemol to bring her temperature down? She's still sitting at 39Cish.

Sorry to hijack just don't know anyone else who would give me calm, practical advice!

santabebespain · 14/12/2007 22:20

Hmm yes cake! I am going to attempt my first ever choc cake for DS Birthday next week, fingers´crossed I don´t make a pig´s ear out of it. Still as long as its edible...

Another little monkey here Calm! Must admit to dreading DS walking, I can hardly keep up with him as it is and I find it amazing just how fast he can crawl now, seems to have happened over night, blink and you miss him!

Frosty - tell your DH not to worry too much about meeting people off t´net I´ve done it twice since being in Spain (was so desperate for a friend )and it worked out really well! Totally weirdo-free!! Must say though I never considered doing it when I was in the UK. Here´s to more mooing and roaring - that´s soo cute!

santabebespain · 14/12/2007 22:25

Awww BP just saw your message - poor little mite, must be awful for both of you,

Sorry I don´t have any calm, practical advice on this one, hopefully someone will be along soon that´s of more use, have you asked the folks over on "Health"?

Sending get better soon wishes....

SantasUnderGodzillasBumcheek · 14/12/2007 22:32

Sorry BP, no advice...except what about mixing it with a suitably flavoured yoghurt?

Sounds disgusting actually, but, well, you never know

FrostyGlassSlipper · 15/12/2007 08:11

bp - try nurofen or medised instead. might just be the taste...

babypowder · 15/12/2007 12:14

She's a lettle tinker. I've tried alternatives, I've tried mixing it into her favourite porridge, I've tried clamping her mouth shut (as recommended on another thread). She just won't swallow.

She's not so hot today, though, so maybe she's on the mend. Thanks all for your suggestions.

babypowder · 15/12/2007 14:39

So, tell me honestly, is it wrong to make a Buche de Noel for DD2s birthday? I just think it might make a nice tradition, and its a damned sight easier than making a full-on birthday cake at this time of year.

Or am I simply taking the easy way out

SachaF · 15/12/2007 15:00

All this talk of cake! I'll make one in June for his 'official' birthday maybe....
Hi all, back online again (yay!).
We have a new house, we have a new house!
It's got shiny new windows and electrics that work. Next week it will have carpets and our stuff will arrive. yay! [wiggles back to take out kinks from sleeping on an inflatable mattress atm]
