Hi all thanks for nice words about D

Was lying in bed with him earlier trying to get him to sleep (didnt work!) looking at his little face with these little chubby cheeks and its like looking at a different boy! He looks so different to how he looked a month or 2 ago but in a good way

Have to admit to not sticking to the blw that rigidly, its just sooo hard to find finger foods for every meal! he has cereal for breakfast, mostly weetabix at the moment. Oh maveta while i remember you asked the other day about gluten, as far as i know its only up to 6 months you should avoid it and thats really only if theres family history. My gran had coeliacs disease so I have avoided it till 6 months for all 3 but after that they've had loads, otherwise its just a nightmare finding food! Anyway he generally has a sandwich for lunch with philadelphia or marmite and cos of his need for iron a whizzed up some steamed greens and spinach and mixed it with the philly and spread that on. He had gypsy toast or eggy bread as I believe the rest of the world outside my family call it and loved it. Scrambled egg tonight from a spoon but bits of toast for him to feed himself and some bits of broccoli (brocolli, broccolli ? ). He loves fromage frais and those little pots of fruit puree. Steamed or roast veg sticks. Mashed potato with more grenn things mixed in. Dp made a beef stir fry and he sucked some beef strips to death! Gonna steam some cod tomorrow and make a veggie sauce for it with philly for extra calories. But he's got the hang of chewing finger food and eating off a spoon brilliantly now so we just go with whatevers easiest at the time. And the gagging is now greatly reduced. Oh and he has lots of those snacky baby finger food things like ricecakes, savoury fingers, rusks and the things that look like giant wotsits but taste exactly like carrots!

BWI lol at izzy crying when trhe fireworks stopped!

M and N watched them out their windows, lots going off over the allotments out the back.

Ellie - yes I am trying to beef him up so joe doesnt mistake him for a twiglet and eat him!! Not sure he'll quite be up to joe size though

Right baby crying and dp moaning about it as hes holding him, think my breasts are required!!

weeonion · 05/11/2007 22:11

hi folks. gmm- i was just wondering earlier where you were.

fireworks have woken baby - grr!

maveta - c usually has porridge with fruit and toast for brekkie. 2 spoons are on the go for it - she does get quite a bit in herself and also uses the hands. lunch is a mixture but no purees. we do have sauces that she uses pancakes, rice cakes, pasta etc to mop up. dinner is her main meal - tonight she had cheese and avacado toasted in pitta bread with lentil curry and fresh pineapple. eats better then her folks!!

weeonion · 05/11/2007 22:13

pesha - great news on d btw!

PeshaCake · 05/11/2007 22:43

Ok im now abit confused as earlier i missed out a whole lb of growth. 12lb 4 to 14 lb is 28 oz not 12, thats nearly 2lb in 2 weeks. So recently ive been told hed not gained but lost 2oz over 3 weeks, then less than a week later he'd gained 10oz, 1 week later and he's only gained .5oz on that and now 2 weeks later hes gained 28oz Think there may be a few problems with their scales!

But whatever it is I can tell myself he's gaining weight and has got longer and just bigger all round so im still happy!

elkiedee · 05/11/2007 22:57

Great news about D's weight gain Pesha.

Interesting stuff about the weaning from several posters, I've not got very far yet, just a few bits of banana. Hoping to start doing more for breakfast some time this week, I'm wondering if the highchair will arrive tomorrow.

Glad the bonfire and fireworks went well, CD.

Eddas · 06/11/2007 08:01

i've just had an ill-fated attempt to catch up too much chatter

dd is in the front room laughing at The Jungle Book I love the belly laugh, so cute!

Just incase any of you don't know Disney release a film twice a year then after a while it disappears and you can't buy it unless you pay ebay gits ££££££££££££ so I now buy them when I see them as trying to get dd/ds a collection of the classics, anyway The Jungle Book is out now. Bit of a saddo (me that is) but I decided I wanted JB ages ago only to find it was about £80(may have been more) on Amazon

Right that's my Diseny plug over

MY BATHROOM HAS A TOILET AND BASIN yay!

Looks lovely, isn't complete yet but only those little bits to do now, you know toilet roll holder, that kinda thing. It's so much nicer than the shit hole it was

Hope everyone is well, oh and I did see that D has gained lots of lovely weight. am really pleased for you Pesha Well done D

StealthPolarBear · 06/11/2007 08:17

Morning everyone
Wow it sounds like all the babies are eating really well, we're still munching the odd bit of vegetable here I really must make more of an effort.
Really good night here - from half 11 to after 7!
OK, I admit, the novelty hasn't worn off but how do I stop him chewing the speaker wires / pressing the stereo buttons / pulling the wine out of the rack??? Good thing is he's learning the word 'NO'

Eddas · 06/11/2007 08:22

SPB, my adive is to move everything

I just got fed up shouting at dd the entire time so moved things and gradually put them back as she got older but my front room looked tidier than ever

I also taped shut the doors to the TV cabinet and taped the skycard into the slot but I didn't have to shout anymore!

liath · 06/11/2007 08:24

Morning.

New bathroom sounds fab, Eddas. Thanks for the Disney tip too, the Jungle Book is one of my favourites.

Great news about D's weight gain, Pesha.

SMB - I thought my house was pretty baby proof but am realising that it certainly isn't BOY proof - ds is in a league of his own. I don't remember dd chewing electrical cables........

Had another pretty good night here, really hope it continues. I've taken to shutting ds's door after the 4am feed so I can't hear him chuntering and it stops him waking dd up. Bad, but less knackered mummy....

StealthPolarBear · 06/11/2007 08:36

Ah so it's a boy thing?
Eddas, I think you might be right, we were hoping to not have to do anything significant before movng but I think it's inevitable.
Oh hang on, he's in the kitchen, doing a bit of BLW with something he's found on the floor

Eddas · 06/11/2007 08:56

oh no, am I gonna have to move even more than i did with dd, eeeeeeeeek

Mind you with all dd's tat lying around i'm not sure moving a few bits will make much difference!

Trying to retrain dd to not leave her things on the floor is a nightmare, and it's only just started. I think i'll have to give her certain things that are bedroom only toys! Mind you she prefers playing with ds's stuff atm anyway

oooggs · 06/11/2007 09:00

morning all - Erin is the easier baby by a long shot - must be a boy thing

lovely weather today, toddlers this morning and under 1's this afternoon (and I am running it as the nursery nurse is on a course ) have all 3 delights all day, dniece popping in after school and dh home at 4.20pm. All fun

catch you lovely lot later

Idreamofchocolate · 06/11/2007 10:17

Just popping in to say Hi, not caught up yet I'm afraid. Just sitting here waiting for the wasp exterminator men to arrive as we appear to have lots of the little blighters buzzing in and out of our roof. Dh was stung by a monster wasp in the loft earlier this year and had to have antibiotics as his thumb swelled up to scary proportions. We also found another dead monster wasp which Emily has kept in a pot as it's so freakily huge. Going to show it to the wasp blokes to see if they think it's an alien species .

OK so house hunting/going on the market saga continues. Looks like I'm gonna have to do this all by myself as dh is showing absolutely no interest in helping me whatsoever. He's gonna come home from work one day this week to find a for sale board up outside the house.

Then one day he'll come home and find we've all moved out

PeshaCake · 06/11/2007 10:34

Would have to agree with it being a boy thing. When ds1 was a toddler i was looking through some old pics and was astonished to see a photo of dd aged about 1 1/2 standing next to a glass and the remote and my mobile and other things that I could never have left within ds's reach! Definitely tape the sky card in. Keep everything out of reach. Remove all boxes or box like toys as they will be used to climb on to reach everything thats supposed to be out of reach. Put all dvds and cds in a different, child proof room that has locks on the door. If its remotely breakable/valuable/important lock it in a child proof room. Invest in multiple stair gates. Buy reins to use as extra harnesses in pushchairs and highchairs to prevent escape. Buy a straitjacket. Grow an extra pair of eyes/arms/legs.

Ok its possible that this was just my ds1 and not all boys are this bad but I promise you I am not exagerrating! There is a reason I left a 4 year gap before having another and why I was scared when I found out I was having a boy.

My friend, mother of 2 girls, was chatting to me the other day, "I remember you calling me nearly in tears saying 'he's climbing everything!'" she laughed.

Oh yes I remember now. I had cupboard locks on the tv cupboard but he snapped them. He snapped the arm of his cot mobile. He climbed stair gates by gripping the bars with his toes. He stepped backwards off a child height table landing on his head, twisting his neck and then shouted at me as I tried to cuddle him because he wanted to go and do it again. He irreparably broke a pine bed.

I'd forgotten just how hard he was. I'm praying D continues to be so calm, although theres a definite temper and he has very little patience when hes hungry or really wants something

PeshaCake · 06/11/2007 10:37

at giant fraek wasps idoc!

And at the idea of your dh coming home to find you've all moved! I like that idea

D has just eaten a whole weetabix with formula and half a banana
And he did his best to eat the banana skin too

Bramshott · 06/11/2007 10:43

Hello, I'm just popping in to say hi too!

We survived my mad work period, including Orla spending all day with me at a singing day event I was organising. Hopefully all will be much calmer now in the run-up to Christmas, although now it's calmed down, I need to start looking for more work!

Our extension is nearly finished I think - they're going to be plastering it this week! Now we just need to work out how we're going to pay for it as we've borrowed the money from my mum as a short term measure.

O is doing well - sitting really well and has 2 teeth (seems to be much happier since they came through). She's eating for England, which is good as she's not drinking a lot of milk - breastfeed morning and evening, with a half-hearted mid-afternoon one some days, depending if I'm there or not. Still not that impressed by formula but seems to be thriving anyway! No signs of crawling thank god - I'd really like her to stay put till after Christmas please!!

One thing is that she doesn't seem to drink a lot of water, and I'm wondering whether to try diluted juice to try to get more liquids into her? What are others doing? I'd prefer her to have water, but she doesn't often seem to drink it, and now she's not feeding very much, the only liquid she gets is in her purees.

N being quite challenging atm - very anti going out to school in the mornings (although fine when she's there), and very drama-queeny - the slightest thing is met by sighs and fake crying and storming off (like when I had only brought 2 sparklers to the fireworks on Saturday night!). Ho hum! Sure it's just a phase but it is quite wearing!

Off to try and catch up with what you've all been up to now! Will try to keep up a bit better over the next few weeks!!

cazboldy · 06/11/2007 10:54

I must be the odd one out...... my girls are definitely harder work than my boys......dh says it's because they take after me

cazboldy · 06/11/2007 10:59

oh and potc(can't call you pillock) sorry but I can't do that day.... dh is having a rare weekend off and already booked lunch out!

Sexonlegs · 06/11/2007 11:05

Morning ladies

Sounds like the babies have picked up on the sleep vibe then. Long may it last!

Bramshott, great to see you. Sounds like you have been manic. Sorry N is being trying. B is atm too, but I think she is a bit under the weather tbh. Not ill enough to miss school, but not quite herself.

Eddas, glad the bathroom is sorted.

Oooggs, sounds like you have a dippy kind of day, ie mad running around!

Dippy, glad the fireworks party went well.

Pesha, what a huge amount of food to put away!

Hi to everyone else I have not mentioned.

StealthPolarBear · 06/11/2007 11:53

Aaargh surveyor has just been to survey our house, 2 mins before T did a great big stinky nappy and quickly smeared it all over his body. I had got as far as getting nappy off when doorbell rang. I answered the door holding a pooey baby and said "Sorry but I'm going to have to bath my baby" Oh well, think he understood

oooggs · 06/11/2007 12:43

on group down and one to go
good to see you bramshott and glad Orla is thriving.

Erin is very fast commando crawling now and it is manic I need eyes in the back of my head on thats with only one so mobile, Jack can do it but is much slower and chooses not to very often.

I feel very tired today - physically think the last couple of weeks have all caught up today.

But no rest for the mummy - the show must go on!!!!!!

catch you later

Maveta · 06/11/2007 15:41

Thanks for the info re. what you are all feeding. We seem to be on the right track. N loves his morning porridge, I have to say I am surprised how good it is with fruit mashed into it. I love porridge but always have it with sugar, might have to have it Ns way from now on

Worrying news about babyproofing the house although N doesn't look like moving in the near future so we still have time. dh finally fixed the shelves to the wall in the living room this weekend, bit by bit we are preparing! Wouldn't be surprised if N is a little terror, he is identical to his older cousin in temperament (and in fact often people say they look like brothers!) and he was such a quiet, easy, happy little boy and now at 2 is a horror! his mum has to be on top of him all the time or he's writing on the floor, on the walls, on the table, falling off chairs etc etc. eek. And pesha like D, N definitely has a right temper starting to shine through when he doesn't get what he wants right when he wants it.

Another poo in the toilet today I think it's fab.

Maveta · 06/11/2007 15:41

.. for N that is.. I always poo in the toilet

Sexonlegs · 06/11/2007 16:03

pmsl Maveta!

Eddas · 06/11/2007 16:06

can everyone please refrain with the boy horror stories please[scared witless emoticon] ds has so far been a lovely little man(touch wood) and am now worrying that this will mean in a couple of months he will turn into the devil, I guess he was born on friday 13th

Was trying to think of a witty response to your pooing on the loo Maveta but alas wit is not my strong point so have a well done N instead
