Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

I'm part way through leap 7, I think she u it s slowly starting to come out of the fussy phase! Like others I just had a great week before leap 7, where she had stopped feeding to sleep and I was able to settle her in bed without picking her up half the time. This was such massive progress for us... now that's all out the window!

I'm hoping after this leap she will get back to that! Although I expect the next thing will be her top two teeth!

Have any of you had any luck with reducing breast feeds in the day now that babies are on solids? I was down to 4 in the say (7-7) but then I guess the leap messed that up too as I'm back up to 7/8.

Busylizzie85 · 18/04/2021 19:07

@Magpie21 small miracle last night and tonight she's self settled without me having to go back in 🙌🏼 and thankfully she's slept longer, still two wake ups but that's been normal for a while and it's a million times better than the last two weeks. I might be speaking to soon but I hope this means the worst is over.

Magpie21 · 18/04/2021 20:02

@Busylizzie85 That's great news!! Very encouraging. We are still about the same here but I'm holding out hope. I'm honestly going to sleep in the next 15 mins 😅

Picklesbaby · 18/04/2021 20:58

@UKtoSK Tbh I actually manage a bookmakers . It’s hard work but an interesting experience 😶. I’m doing an extended sen course and hoping for primary aged children ..teaching English is a great idea . enjoy all the time you have !

Sleep has got worse and worse over here. He went from waking every hour to every half hour to crying every time I put him down . I couldn’t take it any more . I go to bed with him at 8pm now and he sleeps next to me most of the night . It’s all I can do to function . he still wakes up to nurse 4/5 times but it’s the best of the worst atm . Who knows if it is the current leap 7 or if it will get better or not . 🤷🏻‍♀️

UKtoSK · 20/04/2021 01:03

@Smiffette we are down to just 4 some days (wake up, before each nap and bedtime) but last week she was coming up to me all day and wanting a little feed. She had a tooth break through this weekend and also I started my period so I think the combination of teething and the dip in my supply at the end of my cycle is the reason. She’s back to just 4 in the day now (and however many at night).

@Picklesbaby oh that’s interesting. It has given me flashbacks to “helping” my grandad fill in his betting slips for betting on the horses. Good luck with the course! Oh and we are back to lots of nursing during the night, too. They say 8-10 months is the worst period of sleep so I am hoping that from now it will only get better with the odd bad day or week here and there but hopefully less often!

@UKtoSK oh I had a thought the other day about your little ones issues with dairy. Have you considered lactose free milk/yogurts etc?

@Busylizzie85 ooh thanks. We've had a bit of hit and miss trying to brush her teeth so we now just wet the toothbrush and let her chew which she seems to find fun!

We also had our 10 month development health check. We received a questionnaire to go through and had a phone appointment. They said it'll take an hour but only took about 15 mins. Most of our answers were sometimes, with a few yes and a few not yet and that seemed ok.

Picklesbaby · 21/04/2021 10:02

@UKtoSK we are now covered in spots so I’m putting the last week down to that . Poor baby has them awfully even round his eyes I could cry for him .
I have to agree I saw an improvement with dd from 12moths so fingers crossed for better sleep now we are nearly through the first year !

mrssunshinexxx · 21/04/2021 13:56

Had a scan this mor due to some bleeding and so relieved everything is ok with baby no 2 x

Magpie21 · 21/04/2021 21:30

@mrssunshinexxx glad that you got some peace of mind after the scan, I'm sure the worry of pregnancy doesn't get any easier second time round. Hope your first trimester symptoms are easing xx

UKtoSK · 21/04/2021 22:52

@PurpleLaws I actually stick to almond milk anyway, but it’s hard to find dairy free yoghurt etc here. You’d think there’d be more of it since lactose intolerance is supposed to be higher here but vegetarian/veganism is so rare here that meat and dairy free alternatives are almost non-existant. We do the same thing with the toothbrush! She used to let me brush them but not so much anymore so I do what I can and then just let her chew on it.

@Picklesbaby oh no! Hope it passes soon. How long does it normally last? I still remember having it as a child myself.

@mrssunshinexxx glad everything was ok. I had some bleeding in my first trimester, too, I think it’s actually really common, just so scary to see.

mrssunshinexxx · 22/04/2021 08:24

Thanks @UKtoSK & @Magpie21 ha yes I think the worry is worse somehow this time ! X

Smiffette · 22/04/2021 12:58

@UKtoSK Im just starting to drop the midday day feed and will see how that goes before dropping the morning nap feed. I think that will be hard as she's used to being fed to sleep... but that's something I want to stop too so may as well do the two together!

MrsMarrio · 25/04/2021 13:20

Rowan has 4 bottles a day still. I’ve tried everything to reduce it to 3! But he still wakes up asking for his 4th! I’ve reduced the oz but he’s refusing to drop one! And he drinks every last drop! He eats all his meals plus he’s there with his mouth open asking for food whenever I’ve got food for myself! So if anyone has any ideas please share 😂. Oh and he drinks plenty of water and he’s not chubby, he’s tall and well proportioned

Picklesbaby · 25/04/2021 13:45

@mrssunshinexxx oh how awful for you ! Glad everything is ok . I hope the rest of your time goes smoothly🌸

@UKtoSK He’s had it 10X worse than dd he’s going to scar for sure 😢 The first week is the worse then the spots last a couple of weeks after that ..

First evening shift in over a year at work on Friday!!Got home and dh said guess what he’s crawling . he said he was trying to pull himself up on the sofa then he just got up and started “proper” crawling 🤦🏻‍♀️ So I missed that !

Picklesbaby · 25/04/2021 13:53

@MrsMarrio I wouldn’t worry tbh ,I remember sending dd to nursery with 3 9oz bottles and she drank them all so she must of been on 4 a day . I didn’t take any off her and She just dropped them herself when she was around one . Some babies just need the milk 😅 jj barely Breast feeds anymore I struggle to get longer than a few mins per feed!

mrssunshinexxx · 25/04/2021 14:57

Thank you @Picklesbaby

Magpie21 · 25/04/2021 20:43

@MrsMarrio no suggestions but just to say my LO is a little milk monster. She'll demolish 3 x 7oz bottles a day plus 3 meals and a snacks and water. She is also well proportioned. I'm sure she'll grow out of the extra morning bottle within a month or so. Where is the time going! 10 months old next week 🥺

SRS1311 · 27/04/2021 11:33

Hi all, just catching up on all the messages.

@mrssunshinexxx hope your okay, does the pregnancy feel like its going quick this time round?

Mine still on 4 bottles also, I've considered dropping one and have reduced it to 5oz but he drinks it and still seems to need them. He has 3 meals also but depends what mood he is in / what I've given him with how much he will actually consume! So I still feel like he needs the milk

Have people heard anything from their health visitor? Mine got measured at 6 weeks and I haven't heard anything since. I'd really like to get his measurements done again just to see where he's at. I think I've heard of a 10 - 12 month review, anyone had anything about it?

I feel like I've entered a pre-toddler stage haha. He's crawling, climbing and cruising everywhere, it's quite exhausting! He starts nursery next week, not sure how to feel about it. Think he will love it but I will find it strange.

Anyone had any thoughts for your little ones first birthday? I've just started to think about it and going with a safari theme Smile

mrssunshinexxx · 27/04/2021 13:26

Hey @SRS1311 thank you erm I'm glad to be out of the first trimester and the nausea has gone I reckon it will start flying now.
My lo has her 12m check last week which they are meant to have any time between 9&12 m and she said she was doing everything a 12 month old should be so I'm super happy. She's crawling and cruising too and standing at everything I am sure she will walk before her birthday it's so sweet seeing them change seems a lifetime ago when she was my tiny newborn now x

Busylizzie85 · 27/04/2021 14:13

@SRS1311 we had our zoom 10-12 month review a couple of weeks ago, the letter came via post with the appointment date on and I would assume it would come any time before their first birthday. There was two questionnaires to fill in about development etc and they score each section. We were slightly behind on gross motor I think as Ivy was not yet standing much but she's now doing that a lot more although she is not cruising yet.
I wish she was like a lot of the other babies on here regarding milk and food, it's so hit and miss, mostly miss.

Busylizzie85 · 29/04/2021 19:03

Does anyone know if I should give additional vitamin D supplement along side a multivitamin with vitamin D in it?
Ivys not drinking enough milk so I need to make sure she's getting her vitamins but I don't want to give her to much.

mrssunshinexxx · 29/04/2021 19:53

Not sure sorry can you text your HV ? @Busylizzie85 I just give the vit d drops but I never remember daily but I aren't too worried in spring/ summer we are outside so much and she eats really well in winter I'll be more on it with them x

Gigitree · 30/04/2021 06:29

@Busylizzie85 so long as the multivitamin has 8.5-10 micrograms of vitamin d in it then you don’t need to give her an additional vitamin d supplement.

Here’s the nhs webpage on vitamins which is helpful

Busylizzie85 · 30/04/2021 07:08

Thank you @mrssunshinexxx @Gigitree

Smiffette · 07/05/2021 05:41

How's everyone doing?

I feel like I need to offload... I go back to work next month and LO is still waking 5 times a night and having up to 10 BFs a day on top of 3 meals and snacks in between.... I don't know what I am going to do! 😩😩😩
I have dropped the lunch time milk so she will go 5-6 hours in the say with food and water.
I've managed for a week now to get her to settle herself in her cot at bed time after milk feed, before she would always fall asleep on the boob. I had hoped this would help with reducing night wakings but it isn't.
I just don't see any light at the end of the tunnel... in January I was sure her sleep would be better by now and BFs reduced.
