Hi everyone! I made a new thread as we were at the end of the last one. A new thread for the new year! I changed the title as we don’t have newborns anymore!

@MrsMarrio I'm hoping we will be ready by the end of the year!
I'm 38 this year so don't really want to leave it too much longer! would be nice not to be breastfeeding when I turn 40!

UKtoSK · 07/03/2021 03:09

@MrsMarrio have the ovulation cramps been equally bad every month? I don’t want to deal with it every time!

@mrssunshinexxx haha we were being careful anyway but the last time my boobs were this sore was when we conceived... I really hope I’m not pregnant! How are you feeling? Any morning sickness yet?

We had a nightmare of a day yesterday. Sleep regression or something else going on, no idea but morning nap was only 30 minutes and then she refused to nap all afternoon... so she was awake from 9:45am until she fell asleep feeding at 5:30pm but it was too late to nap and too early for bed and she was so upset when I woke her (accidentally, handing her to her dad so I could eat dinner) and then she vomited all over me while I was eating 😫 she also bit me while nursing three times so between the sore boobs and her razor teeth I’m dreading feeds right now.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/03/2021 06:58

@UKtoSK oh no that sounds rough! Hopefully she's back to normal naps today.
I'm feeling fine so far thank you don't feel pregnant yet only symptom the dreaded insomnia lay awake for hours each night desperately trying to be asleep so annoying!

MrsMarrio · 07/03/2021 20:46

@UKtoSK for me it has been, possibly even worse than period pain, when it happened the other day, I was convinced I was going to have a period. I was curled up in a ball in bed. I’ve never really suffered with bad cramps either with ovulation or period, so these are worse than before I had Rowan. I always got told cramping got better after having a baby

UKtoSK · 08/03/2021 02:19

@MrsMarrio oh no that’s awful. I was like that in the middle of the night last week. I had heard from some friends that postpartum periods are really bad and others that they’re much better but I’ve not heard anyone talk about ovulation cramps.

@UKtoSK I was right!! . Cycle returned this morning. My back is in agony 😩

Missgemini · 09/03/2021 23:39

Hey ladies! I went back to work a few weeks back and have been swamped! Just catching up on everything!

So sorry to hear about the babies that got unwell. Glad they're doing better now :)

@mrssunshinexxx that's brilliant news! I was genuinely wondering how you were getting on with ttc! You must be so fertile! Congrats :)

@zoey92 so sorry to hear about the fire. I hope things are settled now. Congrats on the new house too x

@picklesbaby that sounds horrible. Hope you're feeling a bit better now x

UKtoSK · 10/03/2021 00:33

@Picklesbaby oh no I’m sorry. I hope it doesn’t last too long. I bought myself a bunch of pretty reusable sanitary pads as a treat to hopefully make me feel better about it when it starts lol. I used to use a cup but not sure how comfortable it would be now after giving birth.

We have a poorly baby, bad cold, so congested she barely slept last night and kept tossing and turning and snuffling and whining. Poor baby. She’s had a cold once before but nothing like this bad, it’s so heartbreaking to see her not feeling well and struggling to sleep and even nursing.

mrssunshinexxx · 10/03/2021 07:36

Thank you @Missgemini hope juggling work and baba is going ok x

Zoey92 · 10/03/2021 09:27

@missgemini thank you lovely, yes things have settled, i haven't though i feel on edge come a nighttime now. Hopefully house process isnt too long as it's already empty, all this time off work & no doubt we'll be moving once I'm back 😂

LO sleep has gone to pot she's started waking at 4am every morning for a feed, i think shes having a growth spurt she's like a bottomless pit at the minute 😂

Missgemini · 10/03/2021 09:34

@uktosk so sorry to hear that. It's so upsetting when they're unwell. I felt so helpless when my LO had a viral infection.

Working has been a welcome change. My LO goes to childminders, so I feel quite comfortable at work. I was off work yesterday and he still went to the minders. Actually meant that I was able to have a good rest yesterday in the day haha!
Still waking multiple times at night. That's just our norm.

Picklesbaby · 12/03/2021 06:55

@UKtoSK hope lo is better . It’s the worst .I’m going to order some ! I’ve used my left over huge ones I dug out from post birth 😶hoping it’s a one off being the first in 18months.

@MissgeminiI glad to hear work is going well and to see we’re not alone . I caved sleep training after a week!he was still getting so upset being sick 😕It’s a good night If we have less than 5 wake ups , he still comes in the bed around 2am and has taken to waking up at 5:30 with dd . I’ve just been going to bed so early . I’m hoping for a lie in for Mother’s Day 😂

Magpie21 · 12/03/2021 10:58

@Picklesbaby I go to bed at 9pm every night these days 😅 I think you did well to try a week of sleep training! My LO has always been a pretty good sleeper but I've had to make tweaks to improve her sleeping over time and for me that has been the best approach. For example I was rocking her to sleep and then placing her down asleep but over a 6 week period I have been trying to put her down awake and now she will mostly go down awake. Also, in the night if she does stir or cry I leave her for a minute to see if perhaps she is just having a bad dream or is trying to find her dummy whereas before I was jumping up and going to her room immediately. Teething throws all the rules out of the window and we just have to do what we need to get through!

First Mother's Day this weekend! 💕💫

Missgemini · 12/03/2021 17:22

I have been busy ordering mother's day and birthday presents for my mum, mother in law and other family members. I completely forgot that I am supposed to be celebrated too! It was my sister who made me realise. She wanted to check that I would be in for my delivery, and I realised that my DH has bought me something he's currently trying (and failing) to hide. I feel a bit of a fraud, like I don't qualify haha
Sunday is going to be a good day! I hope everyone has good plans for the weekend. Baby free time at the very least! :)

Blizy · 12/03/2021 21:08

Congratulations @mrssunshinexxx!
@UKtoSK Jia is a wee cutie, here's Rose twinning with her.

Nothing exciting to report here, just plodding along.

@Magpie21 putting down awake is such a big step well done ! I’m having a late one dp is getting up with the kids tomorrow 🤩 We are still teethless but I can’t imagine it can get worse 🤭

@Blizy ohh beautiful little love!

I can’t believe I have a nine month old . He can now crawl the full length of the lounge .. but only backwards or sideways😅 . Sleep is terrible and He has some funny little ways. I do wonder what the future holds for him sometimes but I wouldn’t change him for the world ❤️ Happy Mother’s Day for this weekend ladies X

@Picklesbaby he's adorable! Rose is pretty much a potato, she only rolls when I put her on her tummy. She rolls straight into her back because she hates tummy time!
She was 9 months yesterday and today she has cut her first tooth (well both bottom teeth!).
I need time to slow down, she's my last baby and it's going far too quickly.

UKtoSK · 13/03/2021 04:17

@Blizy oh adorable! That’s my favourite outfit we have, I love that you have it too! Also Jia’s middle name is Rose so double twinning ❤️

@Picklesbaby I always love seeing your photos, he’s got such pretty eyes and such a cute smile.

@Missgemini @picklesbaby we were also still having multiple wakes a night and it was even worse the first two nights of her cold. But then two nights ago she did a 7 hour stretch and then last night she did 11 hours... 7:55-6:45. I’m in total shock. I think it might be the cold medicine and now I’m wondering if I can just keep giving it to her every evening 😂

@Magpie21 how did you make the transition? Just put her down a little more awake each time? Jia often cries if she wakes up as I put her down, unless I catch her at just the right moment. But I really want to get her to fall asleep in her bed before she gets any heavier (and she’s only just over 7kg)

Jia is crawling about all over the place now. She follows me all over the apartment and takes things off shelves. It’s definitely extra work but so fun watching her explore. She’s also pulling up to stand on everything but still wobbly and so falls and smacks her face a lot so I can’t turn my back for a second.

@Blizy last baby here also . I’m in no rush this time round .enjoying the baby stage lasting longer potato made me lol .Great news on the teeth, both at once!😁 hope it wasn’t too bad for you all .

@UKtoSK aw thank you . He’s so happy despite his lack of sleep! & I’m biased but his funny eye only makes him cuter 😌
Look at jia go!!!! She looks so grown up.oh I bet it was a nice surprise .It makes you appreciate good nights more ,You must be super proud . Jj was 9.5 kilos when he was weighed in hospital last month .maybe that’s why he can’t get on his knees to crawl he’s too heavy 😂

Busylizzie85 · 13/03/2021 08:18

Ivy turned 9 months today she still is not crawling but she does bum shuffle as it were so I don't think she'll ever crawl. She loves babbling to herself at the moment and blowing endless raspberry's.
Her sleep has got better recently since she started to go to bed more awake but we still have on average 2 wake ups. Teething is our biggest issue with sleep tooth number 7 is finally poking though!

@Picklesbaby well I went and jinxed it....my LO was up and down constantly between 10:30 and 1:30 last night 😅 You have to laugh! I just kept thinking oh I shouldn't have mentioned it on Mumsnet. It felt like one of those regressions between she was just wide awake, would go back down and then wake 20 mins later.

@UKtoSK The transition occurred with a lot of failed attempts...even now I often have to go back in her room and give her a little re-rock and pop her down again. I read her a book (honestly she doesn't always look at the book!) then I give her a tiny rock so she knows it's bed time and then I put her down awake or semi-awake with her comforter. I'm sure with time il be able to put her down fully awake and leave the room. Now that she is on her feet (against the furniture) and moving around a lot she is more tired and ultimately that's probably what has helped the most.

Love all the pictures of the babies. All growing beautifully...we are almost getting to the 9 months in, 9 months out stage!

UKtoSK · 13/03/2021 09:29

@Picklesbaby haha possibly. My friends baby is 3 weeks younger than Jia and about 9kg and barely rolls. She’s happy to just lie there and not move. Jia has been non-stop since she was born, and even before she was born lol.

@Busylizzie85 such a cute smile! I bet she looks adorable doing that bum shuffle!

@Magpie21 sorry about the bad night last night, I hope it was just a one off! I was worried I would jinx it talking about the previous two good nights too, but I’m attributing them to medicine not to any permanent change although that would be amazing! I feel so refreshed today.

Lovely to hear all your updates. We’ve now got 4 teeth and is obsessed with the ‘S’ or ’shh’ sounds he can now make.
We aren’t crawling yet but he’s getting up on all fours rocking backwards and forwards but it’s always an anticlimax when he lies back down 🤣 although you would think he was crawling because he worms his way over to the mantle piece (exactly where I don’t want him to be) every time I put him in the furthest away position.
We’ve ordered his next size car seat, his first stage his feet are hanging over the edge 😂😂 no way would it last until he’s 13kg he’s far too long!
Don’t know what my husband has in store for tomorrow, I’m just hoping for the much evaded lie in!

Picklesbaby · 13/03/2021 10:15

@Magpie21 haha it’s always the case hope it’s a one off. my little one Actually went to sleep at 8pm& only woke 3 times until 3.30 ..then he was up laughing till 5am🤭

@UKtoSK she will stay slim doing at all that moving lol Early walker on your hands perhaps !

@Busylizzie85 7teeth🤯 Oh my.she’s a cutie

Can’t get over how grown up these babies are becoming.

Has anyone gone through a milk strike? Solids are going really well but trying to get any formula down LO is a nightmare. Managed to get her to take 7oz this morning and then 3oz in weetabix. None since then. Yesterday she refused to have any milk all day. None when she woke up and none before bed. Eating food as normal though.
