hello, we're over here

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Seansgirl · 01/11/2007 12:34

JB, don't get me started - my Foo Fighters tickets for this tue coming haven't arrived yet. I really think we've been 'had' by a bogus ticket agency Its London ticket shop BTW

Seansgirl · 01/11/2007 12:36

Foxy I haven't caught up - but sounds like its tough at mo. I don't think you are self absorbed at all - tell all woes and moan away! We don't mind at all.

Hi Bumper, Andiem, Sputnik, BZ and anyone elase who said HI!

Seansgirl · 01/11/2007 12:38

Right off to try and persuade DS that he'd like some mashed potato before his milk! Having the HV tell me to wean early has made me happier too - I do love babies but am not so very keen on newborns - I like when the start eating, moving etc, much more fun!

annobal · 01/11/2007 12:47

JBM, what a pain. I never buy anything from abroad either after being burnt from the US.

I have never been so pleased to send the kids off to nursery. They were up at 5.30 this morning! And of course they griped all the way there because they were so tired.

So it will be bed at 6pm tonight. I've also told them that if they get out of their beds in the morning before i come in to get them, we're not going away for the weekend. Lets hope I don't have to hold to this one .

DS3, on the other hand, was as good as gold - he woke up at 3.30 and put himself back to sleep

annobal · 01/11/2007 12:49

Hi SG. I think weaning will be quite a way off in our household. DS3 not showing any signs at all, the other 2 were weaned by now.

andiem · 01/11/2007 12:54

I'm holding off too as well annobal my ds isn't the least bit interested in food

IamDaisy · 01/11/2007 12:55

flying visit for me today. DD has been awake all morning and wanting to be entertained. I hope this doesn't mean she'll sleep all afternoon and then won't want bed. At the minute she is in her pram, blowing raspberries to keep herself awake and getting very grumpy with the world.

gotta go brave the elements and get a prescription filled and buy another V shaped pillow as I left mine on the ferry

Taking DD to see the pharmacist about her dry skin as it hasn't cleared up at all. I don't think its the re-usable nappies as a week and a half of disposables plus E45 lotion three times a day hasn't shifted it. It's red and sore looking, but not like nappy rash as it's dry rather than wet iyswim. Don't know what's going on. I've tried sudocrem, E45, metanium, red clover, and nothing is shifting it. she doesn't seem bothered by it at all though!

Bumper, how did your hot coal thing go? I saw your photos on facebook. Very impressed I must say!

andiem · 01/11/2007 12:57

Daisy ask for doublebase if you can get it off prescritpion
whatever you do don't let them give you aqueous cream it is crap

IamDaisy · 01/11/2007 13:00

I'm regretting giving DD food now, as it didn't solve the sleep problems and she has lost all interest so we're back to exclusive BF. Will hold out as long as possible now.

sorry to hear about your ebay woes jbm. DH buys from parts foreign all the time (mainly Russia and Eastern Europe) and so far hasn't had a problem. I've been lucky as well, but a few friends have had things go missing and didn't get their money back.

DD not settling at all now....gotta go!

IamDaisy · 01/11/2007 13:02

we had some doublebase for DS andiem, but I gave it to my sister a few months ago for her DSs bad skin as my DS wasn't needing it any more!

I think you can buy it off prescription, but I may as well see the doc for it as then it'll be free!

although someone told me that if you have an NHS card for free prescriptions you wouldn't be charged for over the counter stuff? Not sure how true that is.

foxystein · 01/11/2007 13:23

Daisy - could she have thrush? Its quite hard to tell it apart from nappy rash (at least my dr had trouble). small red raised spots is what you are looking for, i think.

IamDaisy · 01/11/2007 13:26

I don't think so foxy....it's more dry, like eczema. She also has a patch on her tummy and at the tops of her thighs and on the backs of her legs.

annobal · 01/11/2007 13:30

Hi Daisy, the homeopath gave me some cream for DS when he had nappy rash and it cleared within 24 hours. I also used it on his cradle cap and that has also gone and hasn't returned. Also add a drop of calendula to the water when you change nappy. Calendula cream is good if it is mild. I'll find out what is in the cream and let you know.

annobal · 01/11/2007 13:40

Daisy could it be a reaction to something she's eaten? Another natural remedy is hypercal cream.

BadZelda · 01/11/2007 15:51

Hey there

'Relentless' - hit the nail on the head! Am now having a bit of me time in between folding laundry while DD2 sleeps and DD1 listens to cbeebies radio in her room...good for 20 minutes at least.

OHHH FFS the cat has just come into the house, vomited right in the middle of the living room floor and wandered back outside again! Do you think she's trying to tell me something?

justbeme · 01/11/2007 15:58

Oh BZ - children and animals- they do choose their moments dont they??!!

Im feeling really uptight today - everywhere has "bits" that need tidying - Ive done a little bit of tidying, but just cant get into it and I shouted at L earlier when she was screaming and I was trying to think and couldnt........can I go to bed???

IamDaisy · 01/11/2007 17:32

thanks annobal; you are a mine of homeopathic information

the pharmacist had a look at it and thinks it is eczema and that we need some steroid cream to sort it out. Meanwhile, I'm piling on the e45 and giving her wee bottom as much air time as possible. My washing machine is definately not rinsing properly, so it could be exascerbated by soap in her nappies, but I would've thought that using dispos would help it to clear. I'm going to put some canesten on it tonigt and see if that actually makes a difference.

she's only had a half hour nap today and then another sort of nap when she fed this afternoon (for 50 mins!!!!) s is a bit fractious. early bed for everyone tonight.

BadZelda · 01/11/2007 17:38

I couldn't agree more - though they are both calm at the moment, and about to have tea. Daisy: could the excema (sp?) be a reaction to your diet on holiday? Just you mentioned you had to eat a lot of wheaty stuff as there wasn't anhy free-from stuff around...just a thought.

annobal · 01/11/2007 18:00

Daisy, avoid steroid cream if you can as it is very suppressive and can cause worse problems later on (if it can't come out on the skin it will come out in another way).

Sorry, roid rage over

All bathed and fed and ready for bed.

Not sure what the kids are going to do tho

IamDaisy · 01/11/2007 18:01

That's a good point BZ. If her system isn't used to my milk having wheat proteins in it, then I suppose it might have an effect ......I'm off to see if I can find any info on t'wibbly wobbly web.

I'm going to have to watch introducing wheat with her as there is a genetic link with coeliac disease and she has a 1 in 10 chance of having it. DS is all right thankfully.

bumperlicious · 01/11/2007 18:01

Hello!

Daisy, I'm crap on fb so I'm in the process of emailing you.

btw what is anyone's opinion on Kushies? just went in a shop where they had a pack of 5 for 40 quid but said they might be able to do me a deal on them. what do you reckon?

Sputnik · 01/11/2007 18:51

I think people were saying kushies are crap. MHC maybe or Holly?

milkyJammy · 01/11/2007 19:24

Mad afternoon. Went to a group which was nice, but DD got tired then wouldn't nap so got grumpy. Screamed for an hour, including half an hour that a friend was round Then DH rang to say he'd be late home from work, so had to do bedtime by myself (yes, I know loads of you do that every day). DH now home and we're grabbing a fish finger sandwich before I go out to photography club.

Re cat vomit: when we were selling our previous house, I was just showing a family round when the cat wandered into the dining room and vomited copiously in the middle of the floor. The children kept going "poor, poor pussy cat" so I asked the family if they'd like to go have a look at the garden while I cleared up. Thankfully they understood and I think they still put an offer in.

Anyway time to go off out and see what the club makes of my fire photos.

I had the non-napping baby scenario today too. he's used to sleeping in the car for the school run so if that doesn't happen then it all goes to pot. Had the most boring day, we were meant to go out but it was cancelled, so spent all day at home, both DCs with colds and dD acting up from the moment she got up at 6.30.
Somehow i have survived

Where is everyone tonight?
