Ttc 1st baby catch up 3rd thread!

Thought as I'm bored and we're on page 40 of thread 2, I'd make a thread 3!

@MrsEG, aaahh your Halloween plans and costumes sound awesome 😀 I hope they get to go ahead as planned...

I have no idea what will happen in terms of a lockdown?? I think maybe they'll start with closing non essentials again first? My friend was saying she'd rather have a lockdown now or soon and then maybe be able to have things ease up for Christmas. To be honest I think over Christmas, people will do whatever anyway!

Well! Saturday night we started in his room and made it until 11pm. Last night we started in his room and made it until 2am. Slow progress, but still progress! He's got 3 teeth now and I think a 4th on its way. Isolation is getting a bit grinding, but we're getting through the house jobs, having time in the garden and eating like little piggies to make it more bearable! Joe is constantly shuffling/scooching around and has been up on his hands and feet this morning 😂

Hope every one is doing OK? We'll need a new thread soon 😛

@ELW85 sorry to hear you're struggling. I'm glad you're doing CBT, I found it quite good. I understand the avoiding MN thing when your mental health isn't at its best, phones in general are a bit of a black hole when I'm going through a hard spell. We will still be here when you're ready.

One week until Daisy turns 1, arrggh, how did that happen?! She's now walking (albeit a bit drunkenly) everywhere and looks like a little duck waddling about the place. She's mainly given up crawling now as walking is much more fun. Also I take back every complaint of a few months ago about her being into everything because now she really is into everything. Clean out your drawers ladies if your babies haven't reached the super explorer stage yet. Daisy was raiding my bedside drawer the other day which is a complete dumping ground. I then had to chase her down the hall as she made a bid for freedom with an (old) pregnancy test in one hand a bottle of lube in the other I've had to put locks on all the kitchen cupboard so now she just opens up the kitchen bins and empties them onto the floor. How I'm not the size of a rake between all the chasing and all the anxiety I do not know 🙄

@cupcakesandglitter, ha ha omg I wish I had secrets of success but I'm afraid it all seems rather random! The next night was awful, then last night 7 till 7 with the 3 small wakes again! We'll see how it goes, but hopefully we're getting there. How's Dina doing?

@Lemonysherbet, I think Joe may be an only child to be honest! This might sound weird, but I had a much more straightforward pregnancy and c section than was expected and he's a fairly easy baby (apart from the not sleeping obviously!) and I'm not sure I want to gamble having another one?! But we'll see, there's plenty of time. What about you?

I'm so sorry to hear so many on this thread are having a hard time lately. This pandemic and being parents in general is haaarrrrd! We all need to look after each other and cut ourselves serious slack. Sending hugs, chocolates and wine 🍫

@Fivebyfive2 Sounds like Joe is doing great in his own room! Is he still in his travel cot? I’m sure his transition from that to big cot will be much easier! My sister is currently trying to get her daughter from cot to bed and having a terrible time of it!!

@Lemonysherbet That made me feel a bit emotional! So many of us on that old thread and look at how many babies there are now, some already having 1st birthdays! How are you getting on?

@TrashKitten10 1! Do you have any birthday plans? LOLd at the lube story haha! The boys are very mobile now, they can crawl too fast for my liking and so often decide to go in opposite directions, my nerves are absolutely shredded!! All the drawers and shelves in the living room are now completely bare! But then of course they decide to pull at the poor dogs tail instead 🙈

Hope everyone is as okay as can be at the moment! Our area has just gone in to Tier 3, and we have a holiday in the Lakes booked in just over a week 😫 The guidance does say that travel out of the area is just ‘advised against’ so we wouldn’t be fined or anything for going, and we’re in a self-contained caravan in the middle of nowhere. So just trying to decide what to do at the moment! I SO needed the break too!

The boys are fab, Conor can now just stand up on his own 🤯 luckily he’s only holding it for about 2 seconds. I am not ready for walking I can barely cope with crawling! But they’re great, lots of teeth, lots of colds! We finished our baby sensory course and have nothing else planned now but I’ve seen a baby ballet class starting so might look in to it. Twin Billy Elliott’s?

@MrsEG @Lemonysherbet I'm ok just think I'm running myself down. Charlotte last night decided we didn't need sleep, went from her usual really good self to needing resettling every 1-2 hours I went up about 0030 to try and have an evening with DH. She then woke up and was crying and awake until I think 0140. Woke at 5 for a feed then was awake again at 6 and I gave up trying to get her back down. I can't moan it's really unusual for her to be bad at night. Think it is maybe teeth I don't know!

Sometimes find DH doing shift work hard it's a lot of time alone.
I've booked onto a baby sensory course so at least Charlotte sees more than me during the day. We've started weaning on the dieticians advice that's been stressful already! Got to introduce allergens which I'm dreading.

Well today is caffeine powered i think and making the most of DH last rest day before he starts 7 days at work 😩

I've been looking at all of her newborn pics (crying) every night because I can't believe she's not a tiny newborn anymore 🥺 unfortunately I'm back full time but I can WFH with the COVID situation so it's not too bad. I can't believe daisy is a year old soon?! That's absolutely flown! Laughing at the thought of a little monkey waddling around with lube and a test in their hand 😂😂

@Fivebyfive2 fingers crossed he's just setting into his routine?! Sounds promising! Dina is doing okay - she absolutely hates attempting crawling and screams at me until I pass her what she wants. She's also teething and massively constipated - she's crying every time she's trying to poo, ends up falling asleep after every time 😓 she has also been exhausted come 6-7 recently, so much so I just let her boob to sleep on me without a bath and it goes great... until she wakes up 2/3 hours later and is then wide awake until 10/11/12... no idea where I'm going wrong but I'm so exhausted 😭

@MrsEG I always have something to vent about 😂 I think atm it's a mixture of everything. Going back to work, Dina being fussy, exhaustion, I have put so much weight on in lockdown 😳 and then all of the usual family drama. I'm just very snappy atm but luckily DH let's me just get what i need to off my chest so he's trying to support me as much as possible. Awww wow how is he standing already 😭 I swear they were just little tiny babies not so long ago? Time is really flying 😳 baby ballet sounds good! I've signed up for a tester session for one that's starting in a couple of weeks x

@purplefig hell yeh, I second that. Ladies were all doing pretty bloody amazing for one of the strangest times to ever birth our first baby, and then muddle through the early months with little support.

@Fivebyfive2 oh stupid lockdowns, that's such a shame about swimming!

How is everyone doing? I'm really enjoying this stage (jack is 5 months at the end of the month), it's a lot of fun. He sat up on his own for the first time today and then swiftly faceplanted the carpet 🤦‍♀️ he's such a smiley happy little baby I feel like if I ever had another it would have to be a devil child 😂 we've been giving him purees and he loves it! Except for avocado. His face was priceless 🤣
I packed away the 3-6 month clothes today, he's such a long boy everything is too short, or long enough but too wide!

Hope everyone is ok, surviving lockdowns and sleepless nights 🥰

Our baby jail arrived yesterday, it's fab! There's a zip up flap so we let him crawl in and out as he likes when we're watching him and then zip him up so he's secure when we need a minute... Or 10 😂

Sorry I’m still largely MIA. I had a massive set back anxiety wise, so dodging the internet has been really helpful.
I miss you all and really hope you and your gorgeous babies are doing really well.
We’ve been in Tier 2 forever and it looks like Tier 3 is on the horizon as well as me being back at work next week and dealing with a house move, so lots going on at this end! Finn, DH and I went to a Halloween class so pic attached for baba bat cuteness!

@purplefig - are you and M ok? Wish we had this MN mansion.
@Lemonysherbet - it took us a while to get into the weaning groove but Finn adores it now. I’m pleased you’re both doing so well!

Hi all!
Hope everyone is good, I’ll catch up as much as I can now!
I’m utterly exhausted at the moment. The boys are incredibly mobile and it’s getting really hard. Conor can actually stand unaided, and now he tries to pull up on something, let go, and take a step and he falls spectacularly- to the point yesterday I ended up in A&E as he landed on his face, looked up at me and was drooling blood! His teeth had gone through the inner skin of his lips. SO MUCH BLOOD. He’s fine though, docs just wanted to check him over given he’d landed on his face but he was fine. But Jesus. When I’m on my own with them now I can do nothing, nothing. They go in different directions. Can’t just take them with me around the house. Baby jail is useless as it’s just too small for two and they crawl so much they get frustrated being enclosed. I’m baby proofing everything in sight but nothing stops the falls! I’m this close to re-doing the living room floor with gymnastics-grade crash pads!!!

They also had their first nursery settling this morning and it went so well. No tears at all, they had a great time in the baby room. Was just 30 mins, next time is 2 hours! But I feel much more assured now that they’ll love it.

@MrsH497 my DH works shifts too, he owns his own gym. It’s so so hard isnt it, not always knowing at bedtime some helping hands are walking through the door. You have my total sympathy! Hope you’re feeling better.

@cupcakesandglitter I’ve put on a lot of weight this year too - I think lockdown has done this to a lot of people! Eat out to help out, all the lockdown takeaways, the ridiculous amount of wine I drank to get through it... all the baking! I go back to work in 4 weeks!! I’m telling myself once I’m at work I can get in to a better routine with my meals and stuff again. At the moment I eat what I can when I can!

@Lemonysherbet Jack looks like an absolute beauty! So lovely when you have a dream baby. I have one angel baby, and one tiny little Bart Simpson. Thank the heavens every day at least ONE of them is good!!

@MrsEG oh god you poor thing! Are you ok? Yeah I'm ok I just find the late shifts of leaving st 12:30, and not getting home till midnight hard and a long day sometimes. Weaning is going well apart from aubergine! Weirdly she seems to have a sensitivity to! Picture of my little food monster enjoying puréed spinach today!

@cupcakesandglitter I've put on weight too it's lockdown and comfort eating I'm sure of it.

@MrsEG same here! Hoping the routine helps a bit and I eat a bit more sensibly. Could it be an idea for you to get those jigsaw padded mats? We've got them (haven't used them all over the living room yet) but the plan is to use them to soften the fall? She fell flat on her face on the rug last week and SCREAMED. Horrifying! I don't know how you do it with the two of them, sounds like they're keeping you on your toes 😓 you're superwoman!!

@mrsh497 how long have you guys been weaning for? Are you doing purees? We started quite early so we're doing purees then will give jack finger foods when he's 6 months.

Ugh this rain is relentless. Ideas for activities when it rains for a 5 month old other than the garden centre? Cheap as possible because stat mat pay doesn't even cover my half of the bills.

I've only just felt strong enough to come back to Mumsnet, and avoid the covid threads as much as I can. Exciting on the house move! Are you going far? I've heard of hartbeeps, is it good? Finn makes a bloomin cute bat 😍

@mrseg that sounds scary for you! Glad he's ok now. I seriously take my hat off to you with twins. Jack isn't even mobile yet and I'm in total awe. I know you just have to get on with it but seriously you need to give yourself all of the kudos because I don't know how! Funny you say you have a Bart Simpson, when jack was in the womb he moonied at every scan so he was nicknamed Bart 🤣 it's now one of his middle names. Am I a cruel parent 😉

@cupcakesandglitter to say I've put on weight is an understatement. I just bought some new leggings and they don't fit.. leggings!!! They're stretchy and I can't get them on 🤦‍♀️ I survive the day on sugar. My habits are awful. I don't go back to work until June so I seriously need to get myself in a better habit before then.
