LOL foxy...one-handed typing, perchance?

milkyJammy · 10/10/2007 15:16

Back from walk, hot, a\ bit sweaty, but invigorated! Yes, I am hoping to do a long walk next year, so thought I'd better start gearing up towards it. Also thought if I did a bit of exercise my tummy might wobble slightly less

Sorry you didn't get to your group JBM. And sorry that you're feeling a little bovine, Foxy.

HellHathNoFury · 10/10/2007 15:51

Wish I could go for walks... I didn't make the most of my time off. Now I am just struggling to cope with the bare minimum of just functioning

BadZelda · 10/10/2007 15:53

What you mean spending ten hours a day on Mumsnet isn't constructive, fury? [cheeky grin]

BadZelda · 10/10/2007 15:54

And no one says you HAVE to work six days a week...or that I have to give any sympathy when you moan about it! Right I'm out of here before I get lynched...

SuperPooFighter · 10/10/2007 16:00

so how many smug mummy points do I pick up for baking mini quiches with smily faces on with DD?
she really enjoyed it and ate them too, which was great as she eats healthily but a very limited range and is wary of "new" stuff.

AND how many bonus points do I get for then sticking an e-cloth in her hand and getting her to clean every surface in the kitchen? this was not exploitation as she loved it!

luckily the baby was good/asleep or it could so easily all have gone tits up.

They are both asleep and I just drank my second cup of hot tea, I am on a roll here, woohoo

Anyway, good to have you back Bumper, sounds like your new flat is cool.

I've also been wondering where are these people who allegedly lose weight bf. Teabag are you one of them, or are you ff? On the cloth front, you could just get a few and use them when you feel on top of things, I don't use them all the time atm as I have very few in small size and Baby Sputnik has nearly grown out of them already. Just get 4 or 5, give them a try, and enjoy the virtuous feeling when you do use them.

SuperPooFighter · 10/10/2007 16:03

Oh and best of luck to your sis Fury.

bumperlicious · 10/10/2007 16:10

no weight loss here either. sputnik, i thought you were doing really well with the whole weight loss/exercise malarky? good show on the quiches!

HellHathNoFury · 10/10/2007 16:11

!!

So it's ok for other people to come on here and moan, even if it's because of something they decided to do, but it's not ok for me?

BZ I work because I have to. I worked saturday because I had to. For the money. I work to provide a better life for my son so we can move out of the dodgy estate we live in before he is at a school age.

Am I not allowed to say I wish I had made more of my time off? Am I not allowed to feel tired because I work my arse off seven days a week?

I find that attitude very judgemental.

bumperlicious · 10/10/2007 16:13

that's a bit harsh BZ... no-one says we have to have kids but we all chose to yet still come on here to moan about it and get sympathy

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 16:13

i did a big post earlier and MN crashed. When i typed in the url it was going to googke as if it was a search I'd done it may be just as well as i was having a rant on another thread

foxy...IKWYM about being sweaty...i hsate it. I used to be really sweaty then when i stopped eating gluten it cleared up, so it's horrible to be back in that situation with blardy hormones!

Bumper, the fluff is free. It's part of the council nappy incentive scheme. It was either free nappies or £20. I went for the trial pack as the value is more than the £20 cash.

a friend of a friend of mine only bought eight nappies and she washes and dries them every night.

I was reading some horror story about the chemicals in disposables today...it's put me right off.

babyboo hasn't slept since she woke from her morning nap at 9:30. She is now reaching meltdown.

SuperPooFighter · 10/10/2007 16:15

Whoa TA, I think she was being tongue in cheek.

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 16:17

TA, i think BZ was being cheeky....not nasty, although it does read a bit harsh.

SuperPooFighter · 10/10/2007 16:18

Is it possible your computer has a virus Daisy?

HellHathNoFury · 10/10/2007 16:18

I think the first post was, but the second was a bit below the belt for me.

One of the thing I liked about this forum was that we were all different and individual but had one thing in common - and we accepted each other.

Through all the BF debates etc etc, we have been friends.

I feel, personally, that even if BZ does have an opinion on my life, until she has walked a mile in my shoes it's unfair to judge it.

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 16:26

SPF....We have very good anti-virus software so I hope not.

I'm definately having gremlin moments where computers are concerned at the moment.

TA I'm pretty sure BZ didn't mean to sound judgemental. The written word is a bit crap for showing irony/wit/sarcasm/humour sometimes. Me, I think you deserve a medal for what you're doing as I know I would crumble into an emotional heap if I had to go back to work right now.

Babyboo is now fast asleep....yay! I can go and do some chores now......oh joy

milkyJammy · 10/10/2007 16:37

At risk of stiring things up, I just want to agree that the written word is pretty rubbish as expressing tone etc. For example, while I quickly realised it wasn't what was intended, my initial reaction to "I wish I could go for walks" was a feeling that someone was saying to me "Well, it's alright for you, with nothing better to do..."

On a different subject, and sorry if I've asked this before, I have a feeling that at least some of the time, LO is waking at night because she is primarily wet, rather than hungry. At night she currently wears Tots Bots nappies which have a "soaker" attached at the front. Can you nappy gurus recommend anything better, that might help her sleep a bit longer? If we're only buying a few for night use, I don't mind if they cost a bit more than average.

bumperlicious · 10/10/2007 16:38

TA I think you are doing a fab job. Sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do. It won't be forever. Think of the nice break with DS you can have when you have finished your contract. Hun kissy wissy.

Here is a really good book for those who would like to be a bit more eco friendly, or even just a bit more natural. The whole idea is that few people can be really good all the time but just changing little things can make a difference, lots of good links and natural products.

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/10/2007 16:51

ella's house bumhuggers...we loooooooooove them so much in this house, although I think the baby beehinds are going to be just as good.

Or you could try putting a hemp or microfibre booster between the nappy and the wrap as a short term measure. Also try using a fleece liner as it wicks all the moisture away from baby's bottom into the nappy.

I've got some small bumhuggers which fit her perfectly with some room to grow, but I've also got a couple of the bigger size for later but have used them once or twice and they are OK on. It doesn't matter that they are bulkier at night.

If you want I could lend you one to try...

riabutterflew · 10/10/2007 17:05

which BIG walk are you planning MJ?

OP posts:
BadZelda · 10/10/2007 17:09

You're right - I was being bitchy, and there's no call for it. Was just rather that you think it's funny to sack people...but then realised maybe I had overreacted because I missed the tone. Still think a little break is in order - see you girls in a little while.

hi holly!

milkyJammy · 10/10/2007 17:19

Not sure yet, Ria. I'd love to do the Moonwalk (26 miles, in London, through the night), but don't think I've got the time to devote to the training for that. I trained to walk 26 miles last year, and did 2 short and one long walk each week as training. To start short = 1 mile, long = 2.5, by the end short = 7.5 miles, long = 20. That's a lot of hours. So think will have to limit myself to half-marathon, 13 miles this year. Hoping to enter the Sunwalk, which is a daytime, 13 mile (or shorter) walk in Bristol.
