south london, near croydon - i wasn't flying anywhere far!

teabag007 · 09/10/2007 13:58

sounds ideal. do they need any homeworkers? i could set up a couple of screens with DH computer crud around the house / in the shed....and i'm ok at pressing buttons

but i suspect there's more to it than you're letting on...

HellHathNoFury · 09/10/2007 14:01

erm...not really

I am a 'test consultant'. My job is to find security holes/network problems/technical glitches/spelling errors/grammatical errors in software.

Then, I tell people about it.

That's it.

So really...I get paid to whinge.

teabag007 · 09/10/2007 14:07

ah hah - but you do need to know what you're doing from a technical point of view - that would be (one of) my shortcoming, not knowing how to find the holes...

BadZelda · 09/10/2007 14:12

Ahhhh explains the work cycle then...hang back and chill whilst the production cycle gets stretched and steeetched - and then work like mad because they haven't really left enough time for testing? Used to drive me mad when I was a producer - not my problem any more now that I've moved over to IA

BadZelda · 09/10/2007 14:13

(Sorry that was information architect for anyone not working in noo meedja)

justbeme · 09/10/2007 14:15

All this talk about BFP's - and Daisys feeling queasy.............

HellHathNoFury · 09/10/2007 14:20

yes am in new media also.
Testing is pretty much the same everywhere though...weeks of boredon then a few weeks of mad panic and 16 hour days and the whip being cracked by project management.

I don't know how permies can do it, at least as a contractor I can job hop meaning I don't get stale in one place too long.

daisyandbabybootoo · 09/10/2007 14:20

DD is being very high maintenance today. she has learned that if she screeches people pay her attention, so as soon as I'm not looking at her she lets of a high pitched squeal....the sort of noise that goes right through you....nice.

She's also started with the separation anxiety and cries when i leave the room. I never had any of this with DS. He was 10 months before he realised he missed me.

daisyandbabybootoo · 09/10/2007 14:21

LOL JBM....would need to be an immaculate conception I'm afraid....either that or DH has been takig advantage when I'm sleeping and I've been to zonked to realise

HellHathNoFury · 09/10/2007 14:25

I don't know what a BFP is

BadZelda · 09/10/2007 14:30

I think it stands for 'big fat positive' on a pregnancy test.
GOD this rain is depressing...as is the amount of soaking wet laundry on my line.

daisyandbabybootoo · 09/10/2007 14:30

a Big Fat Positive

daisyandbabybootoo · 09/10/2007 14:31

DD has been in disposables all morning as I've been waiting for nappies to dry.

Put a lovely soft bambinex on her and yup...she pooed in it after 5 mins. she obviously loves her cloth!

justbeme · 09/10/2007 14:35

Thought that would make you post Daisy!! Lol
but... I wonder who will be the first?!!
Is any one planning on a small gap?

BadZelda · 09/10/2007 14:44

Not me! Don't think my body could handle being pregnant again this soon - or my sanity handle having kids that close together. I do always wonder at people that plan such small gaps...or if they're actually planned at all.

riabutterflew · 09/10/2007 14:46

well I survived, despite random children wanting to hug me - eeww. Even had a couple of nice chats with ds1 who was pleased to see me rather than embarrassed. I got a yr6 class for indoor playtime. I'm not going back except as relief though - it's amazing how long an hour can last

baggins played nicely on my bed for 1/2 an hour while I sorted some laundry. now I need him to go to sleep so I can put it away.

it WON'T be me

HellHathNoFury · 09/10/2007 14:52

not sure when we plan to, in about a year I think.

HellHathNoFury · 09/10/2007 15:00

oh bollocks

I just organised for the driveway to be done, and bought a car, without checking my payment terms. A month in arrears.
Bugger.

riabutterflew · 09/10/2007 15:11

most important job done - got my BACS set up for my MASSIVE new wages!!!

I think I would have found a small age gap difficult, but maybe 7 years is TOO long. Unless we have a major finance-increasing miracle that's it for us

Back from having her jabs done. She screamed blue murder, so much that when went back to waiting room to pick up bags I got looks of sympathy/wonder/horror from the other mums. Fell asleep 5 mins later while I was picking up my prescriptions from the chemist though. And she's continuing to follow the 75% weight thingy, at 13lb 13.5 oz. Was glad she stayed at that level, a month ago she moved from 50% to 75%, and was worried she might keep going up at that rate.

milkyJammy · 09/10/2007 15:23

Glad you survived, and huzzah for wages Ria, big or small!

riabutterflew · 09/10/2007 15:30

we have jabs tomorrow. thankfully after lunch, but clinic is before lunch and i have to go as baggins put on very little weight last fortnight. Then after tomorrow I will make a decision on mixed feeding.

baggins will not go to sleep. I am bored and my chair is becoming shaped to my bottom

Afternoon.
Just been swimming with DD. Couldn't use baby pool cos schools in so had to go in main pool. jeez it was cold but DD seemed to enjoy herself. Shouldn't swimming tire her out tho? Why is she sitting wide awake on my knee blowing raspberries to herself?
