Feeling fed up. Am really tired, and lost the will to do anything more than the bare minimum at the moment. Can therefore feed, change and hold DD quite happily, but can't face anything that falls under the "entertainment" umberella. Not sure another day of gazing at mummy will cut it for DD though (we did that all day on Wednesday), so fear I will have to drag my stumps out for a long walk with her.

andiem · 05/10/2007 09:43

saw her on bbc breakfast she des not look like her publicity shot in rl and they gave her a hard time about the own room thing but she still wouldn't back down the woman from fsid said it doubled the risk of sids and still she wouldn't back down

andiem · 05/10/2007 09:44

jamantha tbh I don't think a day gazing at mummy is a waste and try cbeebies always good for 20 mins

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/10/2007 10:01

she's mad, mad, I tell you!!!

TA, I'm glad things are working out for you and you are getting into a routine. I felt like that when I went to work after I had DS...admittedly it wasn't ill he was 2, but by then I was definately ready for it.

When I think I used to work full time, commute an hour each way (sometimes more) do the dropping off and picking up of DS, manage to keep my house (reasonably) clean and tidy, have tea with DS when I got home and still had time to make all the invites, place settings, orders of service etc and plan a wedding single handedly......

I would buckle under all of that lot at the moment!

But, I'm getting on top of the housework slowly thanks to FLY lady...it really does work!

DD was up at 4:30 this morning and wouldn't go back to sleep. She kept turning herself round in her cot and getting her legs stuck through the bars. I don't have a cot bumper, but I think one is needed to stop her....it was doing my bloody head in. I'm shamed to say that after an hour of being up and down to her I shouted at her and she got such a fright she started crying . Then DS got up at 6:00 so I feel like it's lunchtime already.

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/10/2007 10:03

Jamamntha....don't feel bad about it, they don't need to be entertained all the time.

Can you leave her with DH for a bit and go for a swim. That always makes me feel better.

MHC, I love your line about your DH's calming strategy for DS2!

foxybrown · 05/10/2007 10:11

So true, isn't it? DP came to find me on the loo with lo the other day. She wasn't even whinging

Jamantha, there is such a thing as over-stimulating the lo's. It is best to avoid it as will lead to a baby who is very difficult to settle and will scream. Therefore, a day of mummy-gazing is definately the right strategy.

loonylovegood · 05/10/2007 10:15

Men are so shit! Last night I was in the bath and dp came in with screaming ds. "What is wrong with him?" says he, "How the fuck should I know?" says I! They seem to think that if baby is crying then mum has all the answers. The only thing we can do differently than them is feed them!

I think it's a bit like washing up. If they do it really badly then they think we won't get them to do it again!

Jamantha, mummy gazing is the way forward!

foxybrown · 05/10/2007 10:22

don't get me started on men ....

I can't even be arsed to rant about him anymore. So am going to buy myself something from him by way of an apology. that he won't know he's made

loonylovegood · 05/10/2007 10:23

Good idea foxy! What you gonna buy? I vote for expensive make up or perfume!

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/10/2007 10:26

every time DH has to change a cloth nappy, he manages to get it wrong...it's hardly rocket science, especially as mine are mostly 2-part with terrier and wrap. He never straightens them up properly so the corners of the velcro scratch her leg or tummy (and it's quite vicious on tots wraps), and he always puts the wrap on too loose or tucks in tje nappy proerly so it always leaks.

I think it's a strategy to get me to do it myself all the time! They can be cunning like that!!

holly, did you see the pram sale threads got worse last night. There was a lot of piss taking going on, and I'm shamed to say there were tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks reading it all. I'm chuckling again just thinking about it. Must go catch up with them as they're still going today!!

foxybrown · 05/10/2007 10:26

perhaps he'll want to pay off my Next account

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/10/2007 10:28

LOL you can tell from reading my last post that I've been awake since 4:30 can't you?

terrier.....that's just nuts; everyone knows poodles are more absorbant

foxybrown · 05/10/2007 10:29

Wasn't that pram thread funny!

There's a thread on the CV on 5L you might be interested in. Claire Scott posted on there. Have you seen it?

Don't the males of the species realise that women cottoned onto that tactic generations ago? We just let them get away with it.

Well I don't! DP blatently sits on his arse refusing to do anything, badly or not!

loonylovegood · 05/10/2007 10:30

I did wonder why you were putting a small canine on your lo's botty!

Good idea foxy, but make sure you buy some more stuff first!

foxybrown · 05/10/2007 10:30

ROFL Daisy. I missed that!

andiem · 05/10/2007 10:53

that pram thread was funny pmsl this am at it

my dh is back tomorrow I do miss him then he comes in leaves loads of crap everywhere and has to sleep as he is sooooooo tired then I want him to go away again

my lo slept till 5.30 fed him got him back to sleep and then overslept aagh had to run around a lot this am but all is calm now

riabutterflew · 05/10/2007 11:28

i had a night like that too daisy, and dh slept through it, despite being in our room with lo and i was in ds2s room.

ds2 slept better though,

off to sainsbury's for a treat

daisyandbabybootoo · 05/10/2007 11:52

i've just seen (and commented on) a thread on the for sale board. some dizzy bint is asking if she can "borrow" a paypal account as hers has had illegal activity and has had a limitation put on it!!

"yeah ok hun, here's unfettered access to my bank account, knock youself out"

WTF???

Jamantha · 05/10/2007 11:52

Foxy, totally agree about avoiding over-stimulation. I do realise they don't need entertaining all the time, it's just this morning she didn't seem to be happy if we just cuddled, or if we put her in her chair. DH insisted he had work to do so couldn't look after her, so I couldn't leave her with him.

We went for a 4 mile walk in the end, which soothed her to sleep and thus gave me a break from her whingeing, and gave me some exercise and nice country views which has done me the power of good psychologically And while we were out DH found out he doesn't have to work today after all, so I might get some time off this afternoon after all

trendaverter · 05/10/2007 13:14

Daisy nothing surprises me. I am still £100 out of pocket with those bloody nappies. They never turned up and neither did my refund...and I don't have her address either (so can't take it to small claims court, not to send the heavies around )

trendaverter · 05/10/2007 13:30

what's the link for this pram thread? I need a laugh
