lavender liquer? sounds interesting. I love parma violets and DH got me a lavender cupcake from Waitrose when I'd had a particularly stressful day the other week, It was yum.

faylisa · 02/10/2007 20:42

Hi everyone.

bumper - I love that thread but fear that I may have got a bit carried away!

Daisy and Annobal - hope Lo's feel better soon

Nothing exciting happening here today - I bardy hate this weather, it;s so depressing and the fact that it dodn't even follow a nice summer just seems to make it feel worse

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 20:50

I've decided it's actually quite nice. I got in from Norfolk Lavender nr Hunstanton when we visited there in April!

It is nice drizzled over vanilla ice-cream which we had in the cafe......the reason I bought the stuff in the first place.

faylisa...are you scrabbling?

BadZelda · 02/10/2007 20:50

Hi there

Holly: I'm really starting to worry about your nappy obsession!

bumperlicious · 02/10/2007 20:50

oh dear, I just polished off a whole tub of B&J chocolate brownie frozen yoghurt ooh in about 2.5 minutes!

loonylovegood · 02/10/2007 20:56

Daisy, that sounds yum, I lurve parma violets!

BZ, my dp is even more worried! I just have to hide them from him!

When can little people eat nuts? My dd is scoffing cashews and I'm not sure she is supposed to be!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 21:00

My DS has eaten nuts from aboout two or three. Other than allergies, I think you need to watch out for choking.

Are we all ready to watch channel 4 in slack-jawed horror then?

There is a thread about trying to get the programme banned and writing to the NSPCC and complaining to Huggies etc etc. I know it's shocking, but I'm pretty sure the babies weren't harmed at all.

annobal · 02/10/2007 21:00

How old is she Holly? I think DS had them from about 2. Think I'd go easy on the almonds as they are a bit harder but cashews are great protein!

annobal · 02/10/2007 21:02

I'm stuck to football. MU are playing...

BadZelda · 02/10/2007 21:06

DD1 hates nuts...won't even eat peanut butter. Which is a shame as PB sandwiches would just be so handy.

faylisa · 02/10/2007 21:07

Daisy I am scrabbling...

My DD had ground nuts in cakes, peanut butter, etc from about 18 months. I tried her with a tiny bit first to check she wasn't allergic. Not sure whether that was a bit early but am pretty sure that they advise not to give whole nuts until they're 5, to avoid choking.

bumperlicious · 02/10/2007 21:08

join the club annobal. farking MU!

bumperlicious · 02/10/2007 21:09

don't blame her BZ! when I was pg i wouldn't even let dh near me with PB, and her would have to clean his teeth straight after!

annobal · 02/10/2007 21:11

I used to love peanut butter and honey sandwiches

DS1's fave snack is dried fruit and cashews...

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 21:13

DS stuck his honey covered fingers in DDs gob today.....so now I have botchelism to worry about. How long for botchelism to develop, anyone???????

bumperlicious · 02/10/2007 21:14

is that why you are not allowed to give them honey? Sorry, no advice but I'm sure she'll be fine.

faylisa · 02/10/2007 21:19

No idea about botcchelism I'm afraid but am sure she'll be fine - a friend of mine recently found out that her Mum had been dipping DS's dummy in honey for months, whenever she looked after him - wrong in so many ways! Her Mum's comment was 'it's ok, it's organic honey'!

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 21:20

I'm sure she will as well......I think botchelism is very very rare.

God, it'll be kicking off about the BF/FF debate on bringing up baby.

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 21:23

Gosh that poor woman BFing...it's bringing it all back to me

faylisa · 02/10/2007 21:24

I can't watch. I am recording them all so that I can fast fwd through any bits that annoy/upset me

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 21:25

you'll be FFWing a LOT then Faylisa.....Claire Verity is a certifiable loon!

andiem · 02/10/2007 21:30

I think the botulism is only a problem from honey that is non processed but yes it is the reason why it is not recommended for under ones

you don't need to watch channel 4 to see a load of parenting crap you can read it right here just saw a thread where someone said this about an 8 week old bf baby who was feeding a lot

'she needs some dicipline, which sounds harsh but all i mean is dont give in at the first whimper from her, try lieing her down and getting her big brother to help play with toys with her or around her to distract her, if you do this for a few days she should start realising your not giving in and she needs to either have more when she feeds or needs to wait for you... '

I love it who thinks 8 week olds are this calculating

faylisa · 02/10/2007 21:34

LOL andiem - how ridiculous. In a similar vein, I overheard a parent complaining the other day that "her DD just wouldn't listen to her and do what she was told" - DD looked about 11 months!

annobal · 02/10/2007 21:34

lol, but you have to win the battle early

daisyandbabybootoo · 02/10/2007 21:38

oh that's just awful andiem...i hope you set them straight.

babies don't cry for no reason.

Claire Verity is suggesting now that the baby is being calculating.....I'm

The honey we use is from a chap who lives locally, but it has been processed to an extent (ie there is no honey comb in it). I can always call him.
