Hi all

As I’m rubbish and keep double posting I thought I’d start a new thread as we’re nearly at 1k.
I don’t have all of the OG’s so apologies for anyone I miss or anyone I miss in general (blaming lack of coffee this morning!!)

@TrashKitten10, that's great you had a good night away, sounds lovely! Ouch with the hangover though! Xx

@MrsR16, he loves the rings! I also got him some blocks, that are different shapes and he can just chew them, stack them, take them in and out the box (he loves taking things out and putting them back?!) It should come today, I'm stupidly excited 😂 Joe also loves his dad... In the night sometimes, he comes off the boob and just really quietly babbles 'dadadada' 🤷‍♀️

Well, he's still asleep so I'm taking full advantage and am having 2nd breakfast!

ELW85 · 28/07/2020 10:47

@MrsR16 - I’m so sorry I missed your post and that you’ve been upset this morning. It’s awful.
Do you reckon Finn and Ethan were on WhatsApp last night like “ready to party?” Haha! Trying to cheer us both up I think.

@TrashKitten10 - thank you. I’m now living in fear of the night times. He’s still so flailing! I’m tempted to give him his bunny to hold on to until he goes to sleep. My heart broke for him last night; just thrashing around everywhere.
He did a huge laugh at me at 4am and then again in his sleep which was adorable.
Your night away sounds perfect. I’m so pleased Daisy settled for your MiL. I keep fantasising about nights away but we’d really need to get him settling consistently I think.
Did you go far?

@Fivebyfive2 - haha I love that it gets to 5am and you tag out. I wish! How was brekkie #2?

@purplefig - how did last night go?

@MrsEG you've done such a tremendous job with the boys sleep! Must be your methods given you've got two totally different babies and both are such decent sleepers. Funny To hear how different they were with even the spoons! I look forward to hear how you get on on Friday. I never would've guessed you put on 30kg, look like all bump to me! AMAZING news about validuser!!

@MrsR16 ahhh sorry you've had such a rough night with squigglebutt! Sleep deprivation is the pits. Is he going through a regression?

@ELW85 oh mate, I'm sorry. I had exactly the same with M, thought it was the regression and then it hit and she was up every hour. Hence we ended up cosleeping as it was the only way I could sleep...but she ended up using me as a dummy all night long. Can you get some rest today? Can DH do a night shift tonight? God these babies like to test us don't they?! You need to get to the mumsnet mansion....Tom awaits ;)

@Fivebyfive2 hope it goes ok with your MIL today 😬

@TrashKitten10 OMG a night away sounds positively dreamy!! Five teeth in a week?! Aghrrr. We're ruddy faced and whingy here today, I wonder when her first is going to sprout.

So last night was pretty good on balance, bearing in mind the last few weeks she's been up AT LEAST every 2 hours, some nights every 45 mins. Went down like a dream at 7pm, up at 9.30pm for a feed then asleep until 1am. She was then awake for 1.5 hrs, only cried for 20 mins but then she just couldn't seem to get comfy. Ended up feeding at 2.30 then DH took over. He heard her stir at 5am but she put herself back down until 6am. I'm taking it as a win!! X

Fivebyfive2 · 28/07/2020 18:18

Sigh. Dhs was round for 3 hours! Apparently I'm too thin, shouldn't let Joe spoon feed himself as well as breastfeed 'you have no idea how much of anything he is having'?!! Oh and also I should be going out more and letting her babysit 😕 AAAAAAGH! Dh said I should have asked to to leave after an hour 😂

purplefig · 28/07/2020 18:46

@Fivebyfive2 she sounds like a barrel of laughs 🙄 did you say anything to her? I'd be nipping that unhelpful and unsolicited advice giving in the bud stat!

Poor M has been teething today. Well at least I think so, her cheeks are ruddy and she's proper chomping down on my hand / anything she can get in her mouth. She's still managed to put herself to sleep for her three naps, though did a cat nap for 2nd and 1.5 hrs for 3rd. Whatever, I'll take it! Hope everyone else is having a decent day x

MrsR16 · 28/07/2020 18:59

@Fivebyfive2 second breakfast is an awesome idea!! 😂 sorry to hear MIL was being a pain in the arse... why do they feel so entitled to give you their opinion on what you should be doing with your child??? And also on how we look? "Yes, I might be a bit thin for your liking, but I am breastfeeding, not sleeping very well, trying to bring a tiny human up without having the first clue what I'm doing!" I'd probably have just cried haha!

@ELW85 I reckon they have something going on for sure!!

@purplefig I am desperately hoping this is the dreaded 8 month sleep regression! God knows what'll happen if it isn't 😂 I would definitely take that as a win! Good for you! Poor M with her teeth though... it's such a relief when the first one cuts!

MrsEG · 28/07/2020 19:01

Evening ladies! Boys are down, dinner is on. My mum called round today - the boys are really recognising her now and smile as soon as they see her! DH is working like crazy though with the reopening so it really was fab to have some help today. Also did some more high chair practice! We have a HV apt on Thursday for Conors latest weight check and then I’ll have a quick chat all things weaning with her, then probably crack on on Friday!

Also, yes - 30 whole kg haha, I was 70kg when I booked in and when I got on the scales before my c-section I was 100kg!! I lost 20kg in a flash, there was a heck of a lot in there - two babies, two placentas, two amniotic sacs. Lots of McDonalds. But finding the last stone very hard to shift. I still see a physio but we hope I’ll be approved for all exercise again at my next appt in 2 weeks if I’ve corrected my pelvic floor! Diastasis has healed so well I got it from 5 fingers at its widest point down to 3 by myself over lockdown - a 1-2 finger gap is deemed ‘normal’ so I’m so so close now!

Anyway enough waffle...

@MrsR16 why do babies all say bloody Dada first, it’s like the final insult! They look like them, smile for them... where’s our thanks haha!

@Fivebyfive2 He looks like he is loving that you! Oh your MIL sounds like a treat... I hope you told her where to stick her ‘advice’! Just let it totally wash over you and stick to doing your own thing!

@ELW85 Oh Finn you can’t be laughing at mummy at 4am!! Hope he’s been okay today!

@purplefig Sounds like she’s doing great on the sleep front! Yeah when the boys are bad with teething they chew their whole fist and also really like to chew material, they’ll try eating their bibs (dribble bibs a total must for the bad teething days!). There’s all sorts of stuff you can get but honestly I’ve found nothing really works quite as well as calpol or neurofen. Tooth pain is just the worst, I think it must be so confusing for them. Poor M - it really is horrid! Ruairí yesterday literally spewed up drool!!

MrsR16 · 28/07/2020 19:12

@MrsEG isn't it just wonderful when they recognise other people?? 😊 "lots of McDonalds" 😂😂😂 that's one thing I'm really missing at the moment! Ooh, I'll tag you in one of my insta posts - he says Mumumum pretty well too 😂 started with something that vaguely sounded like Dadadadadada but then got really good with mumumum 🤣

MrsEG · 28/07/2020 19:24

@MrsR16 I’ve just seen it - oh my gosh how gorgeous!! And that was 7 months? Ruairí has started just making the ‘mmmmm’ sound constantly and I keep convincing myself it might turn to Mama!! Ethan has so much hair!! He’s such a beauty!
Oh god so much McDonalds. There was one right next to the hospital (dreadful really but fantastic for the maternity unit haha!) and I’d ‘treat myself’ after every appointment..... I had an appointment at least once a month haha! To my utter shame I once went through the drive thru, got a McChicken legend meal (large), sat and ate it in the carpark and then went back around for another order of chips 🙈 IT WAS FOR THE BABIES

MrsR16 · 28/07/2020 20:00

@MrsEG yeah, that was a week or so ago! So 7.5 months really... that's exciting about Ruairí making noises! It's super cute 😊 aw thank you! I think he's quite cute 😂😂 of course it was all for the babies!! They needed to learn that McDonalds is a good thing for a pregnant mamma!! 🤣🤣🤣

Fivebyfive2 · 28/07/2020 20:48

@MrsEG, absolutely nothing wrong with double tapping macdonalds!

@purplefig, to be honest I don't really say anything... She is kind of batshit so I just let it go over my head mostly. It helps knowing dh is on side, otherwise we'd have a real problem! That's great about M and her naps 😀

@MrsR16, to be fair, Joe did say mama first, has been for a while, but Dada is fairly new.

Oh actually, that's another thing... Mil seems to not like that?! Today when Joe said Mama, she would immediately try to get him to say Dada or Nana?! She does it all the time. Wtf?! I'm irrelevant apparently 😂

We actually woke Joe up at 6.30 to try and avoid a repeat of Sunday night. Had a nice chilled evening with him, reading, a bit of wriggle nappy free time etc. He's just gone down, hopefully he sleeps OK tonight. I'm in bed too, gonna try and catch up myself! Good luck ladies... Probably see some of you at 3am! Xxx

Fivebyfive2 · 28/07/2020 20:54

Also... Pull up nappies! I thought they were only for bigger /older babies, but got some pampers in size 4 to try, they're ace! He can't pull the tabs off and we don't have to hold his legs down to get them on 😂

Here was Joe during chill time 🙂

TTC First Baby Catch-up With Our Babies Continued!!
MrsR16 · 28/07/2020 21:58

@Fivebyfive2 sleep well!! I hope Joe does too! Pull up nappies are a bloody awesome idea - I've been debating on changing Ethan into them for a little while now. Aldi do them, so I may have to trial a pack and see how we go! 😊 I think I'd have a huge falling out with your MIL! 🤦‍♀️

purplefig · 29/07/2020 07:05

@ELW85 hope you and little Finn are doing ok. Lack of sleep is the worst. Thinking of you.

@MrsR16 oh Christ, I'm barely over the 4 month regression...the 8 months one can sod off!! How was last night?

@MrsEG ahh glad your mum was able to help and so nice the boys are recognising her. You've done so well oh rehabilitation! I'm sure you've said before but are you seeing a private physio? I "feel" fine, but I find it mad that nobody has checked me out....postnatal care in this country is pretty thin on the ground ime. Have the boys had any teeth yet? M's top front two are out but to the front rather than down if that makes sense? We can see them, but they need to cut through.

@Fivebyfive2 fair enough, it's probably best if you can let it wash over you. But if it gets worse as he gets older would you say anything? As someone who didn't know what a boundary was until a few years ago i'm quite hot on them these days!! How was Joe last night? Ooo love the sound of pull ups...

Last night was M's best night yet! Bed at 6.45pm, dreamfeed at 9.30, awake at 12am but resettled quickly, awake at 2am for a feed and then up at 6.15am. I cannot believe how quickly this has all worked. Really hope it's not a fluke!!

What's everyone up to today? It's a nice day here today and DH is off. We're meeting a couple of friends for a drink outside later I think. X

MrsR16 · 29/07/2020 07:17

@purplefig you sound like you had a great night last night!! I'm so pleased the plan is working for you! Ethan actually did ok too - we didn't hear him till 5am and he fell asleep at about 6.30pm, so that's a definite win in my eyes. The only issue is that he's now on his first nap already as he didn't go back to sleep after waking up 😂 I'm probably going to end up going to the ILs - MIL's babysitting tomorrow for me while I go for this interview 😬

ELW85 · 29/07/2020 08:28

Morning all!

@Fivebyfive2 - urgh your MiL sounds like a right delight. Is there not some remote uninhabited island we can drop her off at and she can get the local wildlife to say ‘Nana’.

@purplefig - thank you for thinking of me ❤️ Finn didn’t have too bad of a night last night. He was down at 6.45, didn’t hear from him until 00:45 for a feed which he drained then out til 4:45 and up at 7.
He always cries when he wakes up?! I’m assuming hungry this time but mostly I assume over tired. But I kept an eye on him last night and he self settled really well. I’ve got to learn at being better to not jump in though. He whinged a bit last night and I just let him get on with it for about 90 seconds then he was back out again.

@MrsEG - if I go for a McDonalds today it’s on you!!

Well today I’m resolved to get more done around the house for it going up tomorrow, and to go for a walk. It’s a gorgeous day.
Got a call with the docs at some point today as Finn’s eczema is spreading and he’s point blank refusing to have the non dairy formulas. One made his reflux really bad (coughing, screaming with arched back as he fed) and the other he just refused his bottle. They both smell like cheese and apparently taste awful so I can’t say I blame him!

ELW85 · 29/07/2020 08:30

@purplefig - forgot to say; I’m so pleased M is doing so well for you! It’s scary to embark on any sort of sleep stuff but you’re obviously doing really well, and I hope you’re feeling loads better for it?

OP posts:
purplefig · 29/07/2020 08:47

@ELW85 ahhh that's more like it Finn!! So chuffed For you. I think it's pretty normal for babies to cry when they wake, as it's the only way they can communicate? I always think of it as her saying "I need an adult please" 😂. But like you say, it's worth paying attention to their different cries/grumbles/fussing as sometimes they're just self settling. Exciting about your house! What do you need to get done? Fingers crossed the doctor has some idea for his eczema. That cheese smelling formula doesn't sound very appetising bless him! Yeah I've been blown away by this week tbh, we'd got to a pretty awful place so I had very low expectations and high determination 😂

@MrsR16 ahhh that's amazing, clever boy! The 5am wakeup is hard isn't it, because often they're too awake to go back down. Have fun at the in-laws!

MrsR16 · 29/07/2020 10:15

@ELW85 oh well done, Finn!! Yeah, Ethan is either crying or "shouting" when he wakes up. I agree with @purplefig that it's like "I need some attention!" Good luck with the doctors! I hope you get a good one who listens.

@purplefig it is hard, but we ended up dragging him in bed with us and he was happy enough poking DH in the face 😂

@Fivebyfive2 how did Joe do last night??

ELW85 · 29/07/2020 10:36

@purplefig - thank you! The docs are doing an urgent referral as they’ve finally listened to how bad it is and that he won’t drink the milk but normal milk is making it worse.
Are you going far for your drinks?

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 29/07/2020 10:39

@ELW85 I really hope you start to get answers soon! At least you've got that referral now 😊

ELW85 · 29/07/2020 10:40

@MrsR16 - sorry I started writing my post ages ago and got distracted!
Thank you, I hope they refer him quickly. It’s getting worse and no amount of hydromol or oilatum is helping. Poor baba!
I’m pleased to know I’m not alone in the crying when waking up! I thought it was just Finn!

God the amount of work I need to do to get the house sorted for tomorrow is freaking me out. Not least of all cos I tried to do loads just now and poor Finn got overtired so I couldn’t get him in the crib. May have to ninja into his crib at 11 and see what I can get done!

The agent said yesterday now is the time to get a stupid amount for the house. Fingers crossed, and I hope it goes quick so we can get the one near the sea...not the mansion sadly.
@purplefig do you reckon Tom will come and be a butler anyway!? 😂

OP posts:
Fivebyfive2 · 29/07/2020 15:18

Hi all, sorry it was super chaos this morning!! Glad to see most of the babies decided to give us OK nights last night! Joe did OK, 8.30 till 6am with 3 short wakes to feed.

@ELW85, omg I was in the park when I read your comment about teaching the wildlife to say nana... I cackled so loudly, people looked over 😂 Try not to stress too much although I totally get how overwhelming it is when all you can think of is how much stuff needs doing! Have a big mac 😛

@purplefig, I probably will need to get tougher with her. It's hard as she's just a very needy person, but also totally tactless!! So I try to be patient or whatever with her because she's separating from dhs dad (although it's totally her choice) and feeling like she just wants to be around us and her other kids families etc... But it's hard work when she just comes out with bizarre crap, seemingly without realising?! It's a work in progress 😕

Joe had a right moment earlier! He rolled from back to front, which he hardly ever bothers to do and was trying to push up on his arms and get his legs bent to support himself as well! Sooo much grunting!! He's having a nap now and I'm chilling with a packet of party rings! 😋

ELW85 · 29/07/2020 15:30

@Fivebyfive2 - I’m pleased I can make you laugh 😂 well she deserves it! I’m sure she is having a tough time but from what I remember she’s always been a bit of an over critical cowbag to you, so 🙅🏼‍♀️
OMG I totally want a Big Mac now. Whhhhyyyyy!
Joe is doing phenomenally well with his development. You should be so proud; especially when MiL harps on. You’re doing a cracking job and I hope you enjoyed the park!

Fivebyfive2 · 29/07/2020 17:40

@ELW85, thanks sweet it's nice to be reminded I'm doing something right 😂 You definitely deserve a big mac!!

Here is Joe getting excited over his new shape sorting toy 🙂
