Good luck for another boiling night ladies! Sleep seems like a long lost dream right now!! We can do this! What is everyone's favourite thing to do while feeding/cuddling a sweaty newborn over night?

@Babybird20 I think the frequency of the Amazon Prime delivery van at my house tells you what I end up doing!

@APD1981 we're having daily visits from
Amazon!! 😂 what're the best things you've bought so far?

We have a TV in our room with built in Netflix. I'm currently working my way through the different Star Trek series.

We've had the windows open and the room is starting to cool down enough to put Charlotte in a baby grow.l0

Freddie is now in just a nappy after his 2nd feed of the night. It's 27 degrees in our room and we have fans and an air cooler going.

Without doubt the game changer for us on Amazon was the Next to Me crib I got when he just wouldn't sleep in the 'heirloom' crib we were given at all. It was on Prime and I got it the next day. He now sleeps!

Benji is in a next to me crib but currently sleeping less than 40 mins at a time, it's a killer!! I just want to put my head down and sleep but I can't!! 😩😩😩 I'm working my way through the Harry Potter audio books for distraction!

Ivy has been up at least twice an hour all night she'll settle for 5-10 mins then stir and then cry. I'm so exhausted 😴

I spend my nights either searching the web or on amazon a well!

@BabyBird20 I really do not know how I am awake right now! It must be so hard to keep twisting and lifting as you say with the scar 🙁

Hi ladies Baby j is 3 weeks old tomorrow !
Been hard adjusting to dp going back to work and being home recovering with baby&dd3 aswell .
I’ve managed to open my c scar at the end and get an infection, but the antibiotics have given him the worse wind and belly ache 😔

We went to get his tongue tie clipped and the lady couldn’t do it because it’s too tight and pulling on his saliva glands ! so now we have to wait for the referral to the children’s hospital . Going to have to get some nipple shields or start expressing in the meantime sadly . Loving the newborn haze still though 💙

Just had the health visitor Ivy is in the 95% percentile for length she's going to be a tall girl at this rate! Not sure where she gets it from as me and her dad aren't particularly tall. She was very reassuring made me feel a lot better that we are doing a good job with her which is much needed after the recent sleepless nights.

Cluster feeding .. is it normal for them to be on and not suck ?? Also baby gets so angry hands everywhere and I put her on pretty quickly !

Hi ladies, my little girl arrived Tuesday so joining you all over here now. How's everyone getting on?

Currently I'm concerned about her latch not being quite right, as she rarely lasts on either boob more than 5 mins and her mouth just doesn't seem to open wide enough to get much nipple in. Feeding is a little uncomfortable but not excruciating. I'll usually put her on both breasts twice making an overall feed of 20 mins. She always falls asleep afterwards so seems content. I'm waking her for feeds every two hours as I want to give her the best chance of getting enough milk. No idea if this is normal or not. Anyone else experiencing similar? I'll find out tomorrow how much weight she has lost, so I guess that will tell me.

My milk seems to be properly coming in today (day 4) and it's leaking out of me. I had no idea it could do this in such an Obvious manner. Glad to have breast pads to hand. This is all such a steep learning curve!!

@SearchingTheSkies I would maybe check if she's tongue tied that might be why she is not opening very wide or latching quite right?! Ivy is but it's not affecting her eating so they won't do anything about it I assume it's sort of gets better over time, 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Busylizzie85 Thanks, I'll ask at my mw appt tomorrow.

Hi @SearchingTheSkies, when mine was newborn he would only eat for 5-10 mins at a time and seemed happy enough. My nipples were wrecked quite quickly but the lansinoh cream is a miracle worker!! Benji lost quite a lot of his body weight as my milk was late due to c section so the midwife advised waking to feed every 3 hours. Since my milk came in he's gaining well and I leave him to sleep and wake naturally for a feed. Sadly that can be 3 hours during the day and is currently hourly at night 😩😩😩

E's latch was fairly shallow the first few days and couldn't open her mouth very wide. I found having her in the rugby hold or laid back positions helped her get a deeper latch. Things have naturally improved with time (now just over 2 weeks old). I think sensible to wake at 2-3 hours when they're so new and tiny, especially if they're a bit sleepy. Lansinoh is good, also rub a bit of your milk in after a feed and leave them out to air dry!

E is doing pretty well weight wise - was 7lb 8oz with the HV on Thursday. She's referred her for a hip scan as she thought her left one was a bit clicky. She's started doing a 4 hour stretch overnight, which is amazing, but then is up every 1-2 hours the rest of the night. Tends to cluster feed in the mornings and evenings. I know it's normal, but I find it immensely irritating!! Fusses on and off the boob, sometimes just wants to lie there "guarding" it, then acts all hangry like she's not been fed for hours 😂

Yesterday, I had a surprise recurrence of lochia, after not having any for a few days. Of course, we were out and I had no pad on 😩

@mrssunshinexxx my baby also gets angry and hands everywhere no matter how quickly I get to her.

I'm having a real day of wanting to not bf anymore. Nipples sore and hot - have all the remedies to soothe but cannot bear to feed today due to the pain.

Will just have to pump for today and see how I am tomorrow. Thought it was getting a bit easier but the tongue tie and the rage just makes it agonising.

@MissisBee I'm
So jealous of your 4 hour stretch! Last night I couldn't put B down between midnight and 6 am! Each time I tried he would wake and cry within 5 mins 😩😩 it's killing me. Currently considering trying a bottle of expresses or formula from DH last thing to give me a break and hopefully help him sleep a little longer 🤞🏻🤞🏻
