I'm so glad I am not the only one with tantrums starting. DS is very, ahem, vocal if I try and bring him in from outside or put him in the car seat before he's ready 😒 tricky times around the corner I think!

Expecting a bad night tonight, DS has a stinking cold so I'm expecting multiple wake ups!

Dyra · 03/09/2020 07:55

Happy birthday babyKyle's! 🥳

Hope your night was better than expected @ happydays00.

Stroan · 03/09/2020 11:52

DS has a bit of a temper too, but it's hilarious. He stands and flaps his arms while shouting at us if we take things away or don't let him climb things that he could fall off!

We also have a toddler now! He's been taking 1-2 steps for months but couldn't be bothered doing more as he can crawl/cruise/climb to anything he wants. My Mum was visiting and asked to buy him his first shoes (family tradition). The woman in the shop didn't want to sell us any, but put a pair on him to check his size and he walked across the shop!

I had a battle with nursery this week as he has a cold and they tried to insist we had him tested for Covid. It's the same nursery that DD went to and where she will go for out of school care eventually. We have literally no other option as I can't work if both kids aren't in the same place for pick up and drop off, but I don't feel very happy with them at the moment. Giving them a few weeks to see how they cope with all the changes. I know this sounds ridiculous but our only other option is for me to get a new job or move house!

Holy crap I've managed to keep an actual baby alive for a whole year....

Stroan · 05/09/2020 09:23

Happy Birthday Alice! Hope you have a lovely day (and remember it's totally about you as much as her!)

Happy birthday Alice! Well done @dyra lol

Hope nursery improves @stroan. That's a great walking story hehe

Geegrl19 · 05/09/2020 13:54

Happy birthday Alice and enjoy the day @dyra

Dyra · 05/09/2020 16:49

Thanks everyone! 😁

She's having a great time. No idea what's going on naturally, but she's enjoying herself nevertheless. Got her first taste of cake as well to her amazement.

Ah lovely cake :) Hope she enjoyed it!!

Geegrl19 · 06/09/2020 13:23

I did a home made lockdown photo shoot cake smash for Nate's birthday. He wasn't over impressed and probably wondered what the super sweet stuff he shoved in his gob was. I'm sure he'll thank me for these pics when he's older.

Is taking some steps now too. Looks like a wobbly drunk person, very cute.

He has another cold now and cough. Thanks daycare. Going to have to rearrange his needles that he's booked in for tomorrow Think he was phlegmy last night as he spewed on me. I didn't quite know what to do first, l and just sat there. Youngest dd came to the rescue. So gross!

Very sweet cake @dyra and @Geegrl19

Shame about the cold. Arthur has something too now but I'm not sure if it's from nursery or from him having his jabs.
I had to keep him in our bed last night and I got very little sleep. Uft.

Dyra · 07/09/2020 00:27

Happy birthday Ivegotthebaby!

Love the cake smash photo. Nate looks very happy.

Ick on those colds. Alice has spewed on me twice in the past 5 days. No idea why. She was perfectly happy before and afterwards as well. Jabs are booked in for the 22nd. Earliest I could get them. Only realised afterwards that the time of the jabs is mid nap time.... facepalm So I'll have a miserable grizzly baby before a needle even goes near her.

THATbasicrebelBITCH · 07/09/2020 11:57

Ty ! Cake

Geegrl19 · 08/09/2020 13:33

Oh @dyra. Spewed in twice. That's terrible. It's that sour smell that gets me, urgh. Glad she's ok though.

I've got jabs rebooked for next Monday. Not looking forward to it.

Horehound · 09/09/2020 04:13

Anyone else up and having the night from hell?!

kyles101 · 09/09/2020 08:28

Missed this but I did indeed have the night from hell. On the back of three pretty grim nights. I'm like a zombie this morning. Reckon nap time is about 10 minutes away... for both of us!! I read this morning that very unsettled are really common around the time of walking - frustration and needing to practice - that would definitely coincide here, he's so close to being off I think. I just neeeees some sleep 😴

db92 · 09/09/2020 09:06

Hellish night here too. In fact the last 4 have been absolutely horrendous. I can't believe we're days away from E turning 1 and he still isn't sleeping through!!

Horehound · 09/09/2020 10:07

It's just shit isn't it?! To be frank!

Arthur I think is having side effects from the jabs. I read online it's common 7-10 days after and that does tie in. We had to get him early from nursery monday, he didn't eat breakfast or lunch and a only tiny tea. By husband then got a bad cold and I'm still trying to work (back 2nd week!).
Yesterday he seemed better and we managed by taking turns whilst I worked mum also came to help, then I thought he seemed better until last night and then he seemed to have bother with teeth and couldn't breathe. He then woke up every 20mins with occasional hour in between but it was relentless and he was in pain. Awake 2am to 4.30am and then finally asleep until 7 in bed with me. I had to call my manager and say there's no way I can work and I'll either take annual leave or work Friday instead and thankfully she is very understanding.

Poor boy though he is not happy at all.

Interesting about the walking too @kyles101 because he seems close.

Sorry you also had shit nights @kyles101 and @db92

db92 · 09/09/2020 10:32

Oh poor Arthur. Babies don't have it easy with all the jabs and teething do they. How has he settled at the new nursery?

The first time he woke last night I thought it mate have been his teeth. He was hysterical in his cot and then when we got him out. Just wouldn't calm down but he kept pointing to the bedroom door as if he wanted to go out.

When he woke up screaming again at 4.30 I relented after an hour and got him out and went downstairs. Only for him to curl up and sleep until 7 on my lap. We don't leave him alone to cry but we're trying to not get him out of the cot. It's not going well 😞 and were still having to lay on the floor next to the cot holding his hand to get him not sleep. Not sure how many more sleepless nights we can take but we also can't get a break because his night times are so bad that none of our family will take him overnight. Sorry for the moan!!

Hope everyone else is doing well and getting sleep!

Horehound · 09/09/2020 12:17

Well you're doing better than us with the sleep thing @db92! We still have to carry Arthur around then put him in although my husband can get him in to cot awake and pat to sleep sometimes.
It's hard to know what's wrong sometimes isn't it? I do go get Arthur every time but we were trying to start putting him into cot awake and just reassuring however that's all on hold until he's better. I can hear his voice is hoarse when he cries.

Well, it is a shame because he only got one day there last week but he was absolutely fine. Then this Monday had to come home early so not a great start and was off yesterday.
Hoping next week will be better! I think he will love it when he's well. He seemed to do just fine at the settling in days.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 09/09/2020 12:37

We're having pretty horrendous nights here too! After two completely ridiculous nights at the weekend where she was up at least every hour we decided maybe it's time to night wean. I think we're getting there and hopefully it's short term pain for long term gain but I am SO tired and back at work tomorrow 🙈 Sorry to hear about everyone else's rubbish nights!!

Horehound · 09/09/2020 12:44

Yeh we were starting to do that too but also on hold for now.
It's hard work isn't it @Littlehouseinthebigcity?!

Oh and mum came round yesterday and she had met with her friend who's a midwife and mum was saying the friend was surprised I was still breastfeeding and that it's for me rather than baby.

I'm like Errrr no...I don't actually enjoy breastfeeding that much but even NHS says feed for two years alongside food.
Jeez and this is an NHS midwife :o it really annoyed me and so I sent mum some articles to charge to her friend. She won't though but still. Uft

Dyra · 09/09/2020 21:52

I'm so sorry for those having horrendous nights. I thought we were having bad nights, but at least Alice feeds back to sleep and goes back into her cot. If really bad nights are a marker of getting ready to walk, then she's still not quite there yet. Can't say I mind tbh. She can take her time in this milestone.

She spewed again tonight. But it seems we've found the common factor. Beef. Either that, or she's getting overfull. But whenever she's about halfway through boob 2, after eating beef, something is causing it all to return.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 10/09/2020 06:31

@Dyra Sorry to hear she spewed again. and odd about the beef! Not a common allergen is it!? But maybe she just can't digest it yet.

@Horehound it is tough! And I was hoping to just let it happen naturally (it did with dd1) but if anything she seems to be ramping up how much she wants to feed! And Logically I know what with three solid meals a day plus multiple breastfeeds she doesn't need to feed every 2 hours at night!!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 10/09/2020 06:32

But DH is super stressed at work atm and she is still in with us cos I don't think it's fair to put her in with dd1 yet. So feeding her is by far the easiest way to guarantee he gets enough sleep...
