Urgh. Jeans. People keep buying Alice jeans. She wears them once, then never again. I keep them in the change bag in the event she has an unexpected volumous bodily fluid expulsion.

I got given a ton of stuff second hand, but it was all boys stuff. I used some of it, but most of it went into the attic. We'll see if it can be used for future kid(s). I've mostly bought multipack stuff from Next + M&S and augmented with second hand pieces from charity shops.

THATbasicrebelBITCH · 29/08/2020 08:04

Even my 7 year old dd is not a fan of jeans! Much too much like hard work!

db92 · 29/08/2020 10:25

Wow that's so good centile hopping from Felicity @Megan2018 . E is still pretty tiny. still hover around the 25th somewhere I think and only just now going into 9-12 months clothes. I thought we'd get a big jump with weaning too but nope! Still holding out for some mad growth spurts

Horehound · 29/08/2020 12:16

@db92 Arthur is also quite small. He is sometimes in 9-12.
The last time he was 25th percentile although that was a few months ago. However seeing other babies at nursery he is very slight compared to some others there who look like they would do real damage to him if they got into a tumble or something 😬

Megan2018 · 29/08/2020 12:35

I’m relieved that with lockdown we’ve not had to see a HV as they take a dim view of very big centile leaps-but Felicity is a supreme eater. She has been since day 1, we’ve done pure BLW and she’s just incredible at it.
She was also late to crawl though, so the combination of endless sitting and eating led to her getting rather rotund! She’s slimming down now she’s crawling and starting to stand so I expect her to level off a bit. She’s certainly got longer recently too. I think she’ll settle around 50th.
We are just transitioning to 12-18 months clothes so pretty much bang on for age. Her head is struggling to get into the 9-12 now although the bottoms still fit and 12-18 too long.
They are meant to have an increase in head though about now so that makes sense!

We are still EBF but feeds finally reducing gradually. I’m so pleased we will have made it to a year without a single drop of expressed milk or formula. It’s one of my proudest achievements, especially as I was convinced I’d be crap at it Smile

I’m looking back at the last year and can’t quite believe how well it’s gone. I’ve been a much better parent than I expected but I am apprehensive about this next stage of toddlers and work etc. I thought I’d hate the baby stage but it’s been marvelous!

yevans · 29/08/2020 15:21

@Megan2018 congrats on the golden boobies!
We are still feeding on 3 feeds a day now which is nice although she's taken to pulling my top down and shouting when she wants milk at really embarrassing moments....like in the middle of the supermarket..

We've just moved into 12-18 months, she's bang on 50th centile which she has been since she was born.

Had first steps yesterday, she took 5 and then a few single steps around the house which was exciting! Think it might be mayhem once she's off!!

Dyra · 29/08/2020 21:26

Oh wow. GJ babyYevans! Not so much on the exposing your mother in the supermarket, but definitely on the walking!

Glad you've enjoyed being a mum @Megan2018.

We're also moving into 12-18 clothes now. They're a bit roomy on Alice, but the 9-12 stuff is just that little bit too tight in places. Plus it seems that since summer is over, rompers aren't going to cut it anymore. So it makes sense to change over now.

I think Alice has gone from: 50th centile at birth, dropped to 25th while EBF, jumped up to the 75th once weaning was established, and is now gently dropping back down to the 50th again. Though according to my bathroom scales, she's hasn't gained any weight in the past 3 weeks. I say bollocks to the scales. Her clothes and my arm muscles can attest to there being weight gain...

It's so weird. My NCT group had a bit of a get together yesterday and we were talking about what we were doing this time last year. On this day last year, I was working my very last shift at work, which was interrupted by getting admitted to hospital. How was that both only yesterday, and a full year ago?

Horehound · 29/08/2020 22:48

It's crazy how time is flying by! Well done on first steps baby @yevans! That's a big achievement. :)

I'm absolutely loving this age, I didn't really love the first six months but it won't stop me having another.
I only used formula to top up breastfeeds for the first 8-10 days or so of Arthur's life and then stuck to breastfeeding so I have achieved what I wanted to albeit disappointed I did have to use formula. However, i don't think it's that huge a deal and in sure in years to come I'll wonder why the hell i was sad about that. It's such a small thing in the grand scheme of life 🤷

I did mix feeding with Arthur and actually nursery are not so keen on dumping food onto a tray. They said the babies use plates and I'm like errrr if you put a plate Infront of Arthur he will tip all the food out into the floor 🤦... So that's a negative for doing baby led unless you used a plate. 🤦 Not sure how to train him to use one now lol

We fucked up today in that Arthur woke at 06.30 went for a nap at 9.30 and we stupidly let him sleep until 12.15 so then we said ok no naps for him today he will just go to be at 7pm or something. Well, 5.45he had a feed and fell asleep, there was no way we could keep him up. So out him to bed as if that was him down for the night. Oh how foolish! He woke at 9pm and was probably the most wild I have ever seen him. We've only now just got him back down. Poor sausage he will be confused and wonder what's going on. I bet he wakes up loads tonight. So on that note...I'm going to bed!

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 29/08/2020 23:01

Where are people up to with teeth!? We still only have one, wondering if I should be worried...

iano · 29/08/2020 23:10

dS has 8 teeth. He keeps biting my shoulder when I carry him. I've got big bruises. I wouldn't worry. They'll probably all come quickly one after the other.
Ds started off at 50th centile then went up to 91st and has slowly dropped back to 50th now. He seems well so I'm trying not to worry.

Megan2018 · 29/08/2020 23:21

@Littlehouseinthebigcity
Felicity has 6 and a couple brewing but my friends daughter who is almost exactly a year younger didn’t get her first until she was 15 months (I was with her when she spotted it funnily enough). Her dentist wasn’t concerned so honestly you have nothing to worry about. Also the later they teeth the easier they find it apparently so it’s a win win Smile

@Horehound You did amazingly after such a tricky birth! I’m not bothered about formula, I’d have used it if I needed it. I’m just gobsmacked that I did it at all and will celebrate it quietly. But it’s a personal achievement- I’m not on a crusade as everyone has a different baby journey and they all end up the same at the end Smile.

I was so negative about every aspect of pregnancy, birth and parenting. I think I’d read so much and listened to so many people I was convinced it would be hell on earth so I put it off until the 11th hour. Rather annoying really-if I’d known I could’ve got my shit together years ago and had a few.
Alas we are old and spent all our money recklessly so it’s not to be. C’est la vie Hmm

Horehound · 29/08/2020 23:37

@Megan2018 thanks :) well done to you too for achieving what you hoped :)
That's a shame you won't go for another but Felicity will be your star of the family hehe. It's so hard to know what it's going to be like, How you will cope etc and really you don't know until you have one. I always knew I would and really I wish I'd done it sooner but I hadn't met the right man yet. Had to wait for DH and I'm glad I did because he is an amazing father. Arthur is so lucky to have him as a dad. I had to kiss a fair few frogs before I got him though!

@Littlehouseinthebigcity we have 8 teeth here and I think more coming ..uft....but no, don't worry they will just come in when ready.

Right deffo off to bed now 🤦

Dyra · 30/08/2020 00:02

Alice has two teeth properly out, and her top two are poking out. There's a few more brewing I can feel.

I wouldn't worry @Littlehouseinthebigcity. Apparently I didn't cut my first tooth until my first birthday. Then I proceeded to cross cut all the rest

Oh no Horehound.... Good luck for tonight. I think you can get plates with suction cups on the base. Otherwise, give some food on the tray at the start of the meal, then introduce food on the plate once Arthur's a bit more engaged with eating. Alice still tips her plate, but only once she's done eating now.

I think I preferred 0-6 months over 6-12 months. Though I think a large part of that is pandemic related. It's definitely getting a bit more fun now that Alice is getting more interactive though.

Dyra · 30/08/2020 10:01

Happy birthday baby easterbuns! 🥳

easterbuns1 · 30/08/2020 19:33

@Dyra thank you! Nice quiet day to celebrate today.

happydays00 · 31/08/2020 20:25

DS has 6 teeth and a couple of bottom ones brewing. He is really struggling with them the past couple of days and has gone from sleeping 12-13 hours at night to waking 5 or 6 times 😩 12-18 months was my favourite stage with my daughter but I am finding DS to be very full on! He is running and climbing everywhere: constantly falling over as he's going too fast or climbing things he shouldn't be. You have to watch him constantly and it's just exhausting! I'm hoping he settles down a bit soon 😬

db92 · 31/08/2020 20:51

8 teeth here with two more coming through.

I really loved the 0-6 months. And E his absolutely hilarious now and so so lovely to be around BUT he is getting a serious temper and the tantrums have started already which I'll admit I am finding really difficult! Hoping it's a stage

kyles101 · 31/08/2020 21:15

Hello ladies! I'm keeping up with you but struggling to get time to post!!

We have 7 teeth here, but his first molar is nearly through and it's causing issues. We've had to co sleep for the last few nights and naps, I'm not sure if it's only the tooth, or a leap or a 12 month sleep regression but I've never been so thankful that a human has gone to sleep in their own bed tonight!! He seems a bit young to be dropping to 1 nap but it does seem to have worked tonight... thank god!!

Wrapped all of DS's pressies tonight... I'm glad we didn't go mad 🙄 can't believe he's going to be 1. Like others I'm enjoying this stage but he is starting to become a bit of a handful. He knows his own mind and is starting to have temper tantrums when frustrated. He knows what no is but frequently chooses to ignore it / me.

yevans · 01/09/2020 07:31

We've got some serious temper tantrums here as well. She throws herself on the floor on purpose, hits her head and then actually hurts herself 🙄

Horehound · 01/09/2020 07:40

Happy birthday baby @kyles101!
Glad one nap worked for you. Hopefully that's the last tooth for a wee while then! I think we just do anything to get ourselves through these weird periods and i think I'd have Arthur in my bed if it helped.

We aren't getting tantrums per se but occasional foot stomp and a shout but that's it really. I just distract and then try to make him laugh. I've got some great videos of arthur absolutely in fits of laughter. .it's great!

I've ballsed up today. It's Arthur's first full day at nursery and they provide brekkie, snacks and lunch but if we want him to have tea there then we need to send it in and they'd give around 4.30. well I didn't make anything and I'm just thinking by the time they get home at 5.30 that's far too late. I'm Gona have to try and sort something out for him but it's tricky cause I'm working from home and he will be 40 mins away.
What am I Gona do?!

Horehound · 01/09/2020 08:14

I've just remembered I packed an emergency pouch and biscuits so that'll be ok for one day lol

Dyra · 01/09/2020 08:24

I think Arthur will be ok with dinner at 5.30. Try something light and easy like beans on toast or an omelette?

On behalf of my own one napper, believe me it's not too early for them to drop to one nap @kyles101. Alice was ready at about 10.5 months, but I didn't clock on that this might be why her daytime naps were so bad until 11 months. Blush She's been on one nap for about 3 weeks now. Her night sleep didn't really change much though. If anything it's worse atm due to the teething...

We also wrapped birthday presents last night. Counting down the days...

db92 · 01/09/2020 09:45

Happy birthday baby @kyles101

As much as I feel for you mums having tantrums too, I'm glad I'm not the only one. E's are pretty full on. Throwing himself down on the floor and hitting out. Lots of shouting and fake crying already 🙄 knowing we're not the only one has honestly made me much calmer this morning, I asked my mum yesterday if I was doing something wrong! Mr independent just doesn't think he needs our help right now.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 01/09/2020 18:35

Very impressed at babies dropping to one nap!! Dd1 only dropped her second nap around her second birthday but I guess I shouldn't assume it will be the same this time round! Nighttime sleep is certainly not 🙈🙈 DD1 slept through from about 8 months and C is still waking about 3 times a night!

THATbasicrebelBITCH · 02/09/2020 06:35

We are still on two naps. They are all so different! One of my older lot stopped napping completely before 18 months. My nearly 4 year old still has a nap 50% of the time!

Tantrums here too!
