Just putting this on in case anyone wants to catch up? We're all at different stages, so might be able to help each other out?

@Delilah7 @RanchoRelaxo @MrsR16 @thumper59 @trashkitten10 @Bostonfern @crossfitgirl sorry I know I'm missing people, I'm blaming newborn brain!

I'll leave the link on the 'pregnancy' catching up thread xxx

@MrsEG Haha I can totally relate. The problem right now I'm finding is drying it all while the weather is grotty. We've got two airers which are completely full with all Daisy's bits and some of her bamboo nappies take a couple of days to dry by which time I'm putting another wash in. I'm literally taking everything off to start again loading it all up. It's like a military planned event making sure it's all washed and dried. Then DH will want his gym kit or dressing gown washing and I'm like 'Do I LOOK like I can wash anything right now?!' 🤦🏻‍♀️

I think to be honest you'll find BLW the easiest way. You're going to be completely tied up trying to spoon feed them both simultaneously but really with baby led weaning you just leave them to it so it's a lot less work in that regard. We just sit and eat our meals and Daisy sits with us happily sorting herself out. It's all pretty hands off. Obviously you need to keep your eye on them but I love being able to properly eat my meal while she sits there quietly exploring and munching.

MrsR16 · 10/06/2020 09:48

@TrashKitten10 it's nothing in particular! I think I'm just exhausted and not feeling like I'm doing a good job at the moment. I know that's rubbish as I'm doing my best (like we all are!) so I think I'm just having a down couple of days! I'll sort my life out and get back to normal once I've had a nap (if Ethan ever lets me hahahaha!)

@ELW85 thanks lovely! Yeah, we're ok, just bloody knackered lol that's amazing that Finn did such a long stretch! Well done him!! 😊

@MrsEG he is for now, although he was quite happily napping this morning while Ethan was sleeping on me haha! He's gotta go into the office later, so we'll see how we get on today... oh I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough night! I hope the boys give you a bit of respite today!

MrsR16 · 10/06/2020 09:49

@Lemonysherbet here you go hun!

purplefig · 10/06/2020 09:54

@ELW85 Oh how I envy thee - that is an incredible stretch! Please get Finn to have a word with M...!!

@MrsEG oh my gosh that's an amazing weight for a twin! And a 37-week-old regardlessly! M was 7.7 at birth. Good job she wasn't any bigger as I had to deliver her OP!!

@Fivebyfive2 your new plan sounds good - I think it is easy to get worked up about things. As long as you're both happy and healthy, that is all that really matters in the grand scheme.

@TrashKitten10 Rubbish. Pass the coffee!!

@MrsEG oh solidarity, we had a right mare here as well. Why oh why is the four month regression so hard?! It feels so unfair...just as you're starting to recover from pregnancy and birth, and things are settling down and you're getting some good rest, BAM. CHAOS!!! Are you excited for weaning? And am I right in thinking you're veggie? Will the boys be veggie too? I need to do some extra reading around.

@MrsR16 Be kind to yourself lovely, this is hard at the best of times never mind living through a global pandemic where our support village has literally been ploughed down. We're all doing so well given the circumstances.

Last night was awful here. She napped beautifully all day, and went down to bed at 7.30pm and was still asleep at her 10pm dreamfeed, so I was quietly confident. Foolish me! We were up at 12, 2, 4 and 6. Just resettling, though I did give her a feed at 2. It's so freaking hard, I feel like I have a newborn again. X

MrsR16 · 10/06/2020 10:11

@purplefig you're so right!! It's difficult with the weather being pants at the moment too... I've got hardly any clothes warm enough for this weather that fit Ethan lol he's just gone up to 6-9 stuff! 😂 layers it is!! M is keeping you on your toes huh? Goodness me, sounds like lots of babies were up and about last night!

MrsEG · 10/06/2020 10:16

@purplefig Yep - nobody could believe the size of Ruairí when he came out! Yep - Solidarity here for sure. This is the hardest it’s been since those early newborn weeks. By some miracle their naps are still generally okay - some of my NCT friends can now only get their babies to nap for 30 mins max in the day as well as having terrible nights!
Weaning - I’m not sure. I ended up eating meat while pregnant (mix of iron levels and mad mad cravings) and am about 50:50 now. Also I kinda want the boys to make their own minds up about everything - but can’t decide if that should mean wean as veggie but allow meat if they want it when they’re older, or wean with meat and let them go veggie when older... it’s tough! But initial weaning is very much veg, fruit, eggs, toast - so I don’t have to worry just now! I do feel like I’m edging more towards giving meat though. Just let them experience it all and then let them make their own choice later.

@MrsR16 Really hope you have a better day today lovely. The days are a million times harder when you’re shattered aren’t they!

@TrashKitten10 I agree - BLW seems much much easier with two so I can just let them figure it out for themselves! How have you gotten on with it?

@ELW85 yay go Finn - what an amazing stretch of sleep! Did you ever get the Charmian Mead book? She discusses how much milk to give depending what times they wake up - we did use this method with the boys to try and help wean them off waking for food and it worked really well!

ELW85 · 10/06/2020 10:23

@MrsEG - sorry I missed your post, and that you’ve had a rough night. You’re a superwoman for doing so well with two, and don’t forget that! Fingers crossed for you that they nap well today!
Weaning sounds exciting, have you got any high chairs in mind? The cosatto ones are expensive but good! We ended up buying a noodle as you can use it from birth and it helps with Finn’s reflux.

@purplefig - oh no! Finn says ‘come on, M, give mama a break!’
So sorry she’s giving you a rough time with the regression. Head up, you’re smashing this and it will pass.

@MrsR16 - sorry to hear you’re having a couple of down days. You’re doing a great job so please don’t beat yourself up!

ELW85 · 10/06/2020 10:25

@MrsEG - sorry, cross post! I did get the book and I’ve read bits of it when I can, haha! I’ll struggle with the 2 hr wake times but I do like the night feed weaning. I guess it’s so they don’t think it’s worth waking up for?

MrsEG · 10/06/2020 10:39

@ELW85 Pretty much exactly that. The boys are fully formula fed but I was making them a full feed in the wee hours. Once we started dropping this down it was still enough to send them back off to sleep, and then they just sort of stopped doing it! It was a lifesaver for us! Yeah I think I’ve said before - we’re not even at 2 hours awake yet at 18 weeks!! I just took the bits from the book that worked for us, eg I can’t get on bored with the pre-bath snack and then big bottle after the bath either - they would just fall asleep on the bottle!!
I know this probably makes me sound awful but we bought two high chairs that were cheap in the sale 🙈 it’s all about the savings when you’re getting two of things! We got them from mamas and papas - they look like they’ll do the job!!

ELW85 · 10/06/2020 10:57

@MrsEG - that’s a great point, to take what works! And yeah they’d definitely fall asleep on the bottle post bath!!
Doesn’t sound awful at all - babies are super expensive and I wish I’d bought more on market place etc!

MrsR16 · 10/06/2020 11:06

@MrsEG @ELW85 I have also just remembered that AF is here atm! 😂 that would explain it! You'd have thought I'd have remembered, being on the pill and everything... 🙈 I amaze myself sometimes!

ELW85 · 10/06/2020 13:15

@MrsR16 - I’m day 2 of first AF in a year and I forgot how fuzzy and emotional I get!
I hope you’re feeling a bit better? If not, I vote chocolate!!

MrsR16 · 10/06/2020 14:10

@ELW85 yeah, DH has gone to work today, so it's me and Ethan! He's doing ok, still fairly whingy and clingy, but he had an epic nap and is farting/pooping right now lol so I know he's doing ok! 😂😂

Fivebyfive2 · 10/06/2020 14:22

@MrsR16, glad Ethn is farting like a trooper, always a good sign 😂 Hope you have a better evening. Eugh, I'm dreading when my af returns, bet it'll be a right biatch!! Have alllll the chocolate! Xx

@ELW85, yeah one night when Joe was 12 weeks, he'd woken for a feed, we'd changed him half way through and after he'd done he was still awake, so we swaddled him, put his heartbeat sound on and popped him in his snuzpod, waiting for him to kick off... And he nodded off! We were amazed. He'd do it for day naps sometimes then too. Was going fab until 17 weeks, then it just went poof!!

We're halfway through the week ladies 😀

OP posts:
MrsR16 · 10/06/2020 14:28

@Fivebyfive2 my first one was bloody awful... it's settled right down again now thankfully!

Woop woop! I'm glad it's Wednesday 😊 I need to go somewhere and get a birthday present for my niece... she's 5 tomorrow! And then we have one of DH's aunt's birthdays on Friday 🤦‍♀️ June's a busy month!

ELW85 · 10/06/2020 14:45

@Fivebyfive2 - that would be the dream! Finn has been sleepy today so I hope he wasn’t lying awake in his Snuzpod chatting to himself long last night! I’ve seen him self settle and go to sleep on his own before though so I’m sure it’s not that.
Is it ok if I pop you my email address for the NCT stuff?

@MrsR16 - I’m pleased he’s doing well today 😊

Fivebyfive2 · 10/06/2020 15:18

@ELW85, I've sent you a pm 😀

I know it's a coincidence and it's just a noise he's making, but I swear Joe has been shouting Mama today 😂

OP posts:
ELW85 · 10/06/2020 15:33

@Fivebyfive2 - oh I bet that’s the most amazing feeling in the world; coincidence or not!
I get excited when Finn just chats to me in ‘ah-goo’ language let alone anything meaningful!
Once I said to him “say hey! Daddy!” As DH was being cheeky and I swear to God, Finn made a ‘hey’ noise straight after. I know it’s impossible but the coincidence was stupid!
I should have put the lottery on...

MrsEG · 10/06/2020 16:39

@ELW85 I defo take what works best from a few different methods! Maybe I’ll write my own book when I’m done haha! How is Finn doing today? I meant to say - they class ‘sleeping through’ in the first year as 8 hours or more so Finn has basically nailed it :)

@ELW85 @MrsR16 I’ve had one AF since babies and immediately went back on the mini pill which you take all the time haha. Noooo thank you! It was awful. I could barely get out of bed!!

@Fivebyfive2 Ahh take it as a win!! I’m hoping one boy says Mama and one says Dada first so neither of us feels left out haha!

The boys are nailing their naps today! 1hr 15 mins this morning and nearly 2 hours at lunch. DH popped back before to take them out in the pram so I could have an hour to myself - the dream!! I have even found time today to sit with a mint tea and read my book!! Fingers crossed they carry this on in to the night...!

Lemonysherbet · 10/06/2020 18:23

Thanks @MrsR16

Hello ladies, nice to be on this board now :)

Ttc first baby catch up with our babies!
MrsH497 · 10/06/2020 20:00

I'm not getting any notifications for the thread ahh! I'll have a proper read through

@Larrydavid huge congratulations what a darling! How are you doing?

@Lemonysherbet huge congratulations to you as well!! 10lbs!! Wow you did well.

Gorgeous new additions

Sorry some of you are having rough times and down days. I've had a down couple of days reflux is awful poor Charlotte just struggles and I'm trying everything to help her. Anyone got any tips? We're doing the burping/upright after feeds/little and often as best as we can. I've cut milk out of my diet. She's done so well with her tongue tie and the breastfeeding is going better.

@MrsEG I remembered you saying to look after myself the other day when I realised I wasn't drinking enough and felt like a UTI was brewing. Lucky DH is literally forcing me to eat and drink.

Sending love to you all x

MrsEG · 10/06/2020 20:09

@MrsH497 Have you seen the GP? Gaviscon has sorted Conor right out, he’s like a different baby. Reflux is hell though it really is. Yes keep hydrated! I got so bad I ended up with a kidney infection but my fever was bad (it was pre-COVID!) they sent me to hospital to test for sepsis. All because I just wasn’t drinking water!

@lemonysherbert Ahh hello Jack! 10lb!!! Wow! Congratulations :) How are you doing?

MrsH497 · 10/06/2020 20:37

@MrsEG I spoke to the GP Friday she said I had to try those things for 2 weeks first before she would go down the Gaviscon route. I just hate seeing her in discomfort and being sick. I've questioned myself whether I should try anti reflux formula instead of breastfeeding I just don't know what's best.
I'll keep drinking I promise! Found the scar sore today which I thought was weird as it's 4 weeks post section now. Absolutely drained today xx

ELW85 · 11/06/2020 09:28

Morning all

How are we today?
The registry offices are finally reopening but we need to wait our turn based on Finn’s DOB. It’s mad he’s still not registered!

@MrsEG - Finn looks so tired! I wonder if he’s just lying awake at night? I’ve definitely seen him self settle...all naps are still on me. When I try to put him down, he’s awake like 10 mins later so for the sake of his sleep, he’s on me. I’m stressing that I won’t be able to undo that!
How was your night?

@Lemonysherbet - congratulations and welcome!

@MrsH497 - sorry that Charlotte is suffering. Finn has silent reflux that’s landed us in A&E before so I know how awful it is.
If she has full blown reflux (as opposed to silent) you’d need to go down a thickener route if she wasn’t gaining weight etc. The docs are reluctant to medicate at such a young age, which I understand, as there can be lots of other factors that make reflux seem really bad when actually, they’ve also got colic and might be overtired etc.
For example, Finn could be heard swallowing his reflux (he was never sick so the acid sat in the back of his throat) whilst I was holding him up after a feed (he was really young so he’d usually be asleep) then he’d wake up screaming which meant he was sucking air in, which made him reflux more and perpetuated it.
The older he’s gotten, he doesn’t reflux after a feed, and it’s only taken a few weeks to get there. We were on omeprazole but he started screaming and choking as he wouldn’t swallow it and if we tried to feed him milk after every ml, he would refuse his bottle so we had to stop or he’d not feed.
It’s been a long journey but we’re getting there!
It’s great the GP is exploring dairy first as 60% of babies with GERD have a cow’s milk protein allergy that causes the reflux so it’s better to treat it at source. My GP wouldn’t entertain a special formula trial because “it’s hard to undo and he’ll grow out of it after a year” so yours exploring that is way more helpful.
Give me a shout if you have any though; I’m a reflux expert now, unfortunately!

MrsH497 · 11/06/2020 10:54

@ELW85 will definitely take you up on the advice and help!
She's sick after a lot of feeds but also swallows the reflux, the trapped wind she also struggles with. I'm still breastfeeding her but would switch to formula if it would make her better. Don't know if she has silent reflux or reflux.

Can take a while for the milk/dairy to get out of our systems, eliminating milk first and will move to all dairy and egg if I need to.

Infacol doesn't seem to help so we've got gripe water, don't know if it will help or not.

She does sometimes take a dummy (gags on it the rest of the time) I know that can sometimes help reflux.
