A place to catch up on what's happening with our November 2019 babies.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Weathergirl1 · 30/12/2019 17:12

@codenameduchess no, not yet but I have tried a bit if gripe water & we went to my parents for Christmas and my DM has decided she's chief winder! He's been better actually since we got back home.

We're off for 1st set of jabs on Thursday and I'm totally dreading it as I'm sure he's going to be upset and I'll feel helpless 😥

Sleepyquest · 01/01/2020 13:02

How is everyone doing?
I was sad to say goodbye to 2019 - the year I became a mother after growing my baby.
She is doing so well though and I'm enjoying every minute of her!

ruralcat · 01/01/2020 17:35

We're doing really, I feel as though things are really starting to settle down now. DD3 had her first injections last week, I always feel awful but luckily she only screamed for a minute.

goingtoneedabiggercar · 05/01/2020 14:54

Afternoon all. Hope everyone's ok. Anyone been to any baby classes yet? We have our first on Thursday and I'm weirdly nervous!

codenameduchess · 05/01/2020 19:15

We have our first on Thursday too
@goingtoneedabiggercar ! What kind of class are you doing?
I've been to a bf support group a couple of times now, it's been great for support with the little ones tongue tie but I'm looking forward to doing something he will (hopefully) enjoy.

goingtoneedabiggercar · 05/01/2020 19:48

@codenameduchess I'd planned on breastfeeding support groups but because it didn't work out for us there was no need. I have baby massage and a baby sensory class, this week it's just sensory, he's still little bit I thought we'd have a go and if he didn't like it we wouldn't go back. How about you?

codenameduchess · 05/01/2020 20:04

@goingtoneedabiggercar we're doing baby massage. There's a new pool opening near us soon, aimed at babies/little ones so it's heated that we'll be trying too!

Lilkat · 06/01/2020 16:40

Is it okay if I join in? My little girl was 19th November. I love being a mum, I thought the days might drag but I find them a bit of a whirlwind. It feels as though you experience a whole week in one day!

My lo is so windy, she cries and writhes about in her sleep until she wakes herself up. I pedal her legs, massage her tummy, which doesn't seem to help much. We changed her formula which has helped her reflux settle down but the windiness came back... Anyone else dealing with this?

codenameduchess · 06/01/2020 16:57

Hi @Lilkat and congratulations on your baby girl! My boy was born 18th 🙂 our days are definitely a whirlwind with him and my 4yo dd!

Have you tried infacol for the wind? It works well for my little guy and he loves it, smacks his lips and waves his arms about when it touches his lips 😂

Lilkat · 06/01/2020 17:20

@codenameduchess thank you and congrats to you too! I keep wondering how I'll manage when I have two to look after!

I haven't tried infacol, we tried gripe water and she loves the taste of it but even half a dose makes her sick on her burps. Also tried colief which did seem to help but she was pooing so much!! Starting the colief coincided with her reflux kicking up a gear and her going off her bottles, so we took her off it just incase it was playing a role (not likely I know but she was so miserable with the reflux I'd have tried anything). Will give the infacol a go!

codenameduchess · 10/01/2020 07:59

@goingtoneedabiggercar how did your first baby class go?

goingtoneedabiggercar · 10/01/2020 11:17

@codenameduchess we couldn't go, we've got the cold. Poor wee thing. How was yours?

codenameduchess · 10/01/2020 12:46

Aw no way! Hope you're both feeling better soon @goingtoneedabiggercar it's awful when they're poorly!

Baby massage was good, naturally he did an explosive poo about 30 seconds after arriving 🤦‍♀️

goingtoneedabiggercar · 10/01/2020 14:14

@codenameduchess it's such a shame for him. He's making himself sick because of all the snot. He still managed to smile for the first time through it all though, my heart nearly popped.

goingtoneedabiggercar · 10/01/2020 14:15

Also I'm so glad baby massage went well, we have our first class booked next Thursday obviously depending on how he is, he has his first vaccinations next Wednesday so I'm not particularly hopeful if I'm honest.

codenameduchess · 10/01/2020 16:48

Aw the first smiles @goingtoneedabiggercar 😍😍 we've had some too, usually when he knows food is nearby 😂

codenameduchess · 18/01/2020 08:59

How are you getting on @goingtoneedabiggercar ? Has the cold passed?

How is everyone else doing?

Weathergirl1 · 18/01/2020 22:35

Been a bit busy here so haven't been checking in lately. DS is getting heavy was 13lb8 on Thursday night (10 weeks).

We are seriously struggling with sleeping though. He will not settle in his snuzpod - when we lay him down he just gets agitated, makes sounds like a goat (honestly), thrashes around and then throws up everywhere (he does that during the day too if he gets in a flap). I don't believe it's reflux or anything like that because he settles perfectly well being cuddled or in bed with us. I am not sure what to do. I keep telling him that he'd better not snuff it if he's not on his crib 🤷

goingtoneedabiggercar · 19/01/2020 17:36

@Weathergirl1 is he at a different angle there? DS has been quite bad with reflux but only when laid flat on his back. He could sleep on me all day long and he's perfectly happy in his car seat too.

@codenameduchess we're a lot better thanks. The odd snuffle but he's back to being able to sleep properly, well as properly as an 8 week old can lol. How's things with you?

codenameduchess · 19/01/2020 18:15

@Weathergirl1 if you elevate his legs does it help? Sometimes wind/tummy pain can make them scream when lying down. You can try rolling up a towel or blanket and pop it in a U shape under his legs (so the bend is under the bum bringing knees up).

We're good, baby is a boob monster and won't be comforted by anyone or anything else... I'm getting good at doing things with him in the sling 😂

amazedmummy · 20/01/2020 11:25

@codenameduchess the sling is the best thing ever! DS isn't breastfed but he has reflux and the sling lets me keep him upright and still get things done, although he's pretty long, I nearly dipped his foot in the dishwater yesterday.

codenameduchess · 21/01/2020 16:55

@amazedmummy it is a danger when they get bigger 😂 I sometimes forget he's there until he makes a noise or licks me haha

Weathergirl1 · 23/01/2020 22:17

@codenameduchess @goingtoneedabiggercar success the past couple of nights - he's actually settled better in fact we've had him in the snuzpod until the last feed at about 4am when I gave in because I couldn't face clearing up sick... I think it's gas and I think I have oversupply - probably due to all the pumping I did for the first 6 weeks... 🤦 Poor sod is getting hit in the back of the throat when he latches on 😱. I'm off to a La Leche League coffee morning tomorrow so hopefully will get some tips on how to sort it out. Reckon it explains the collosal weight gain he's had in the past fortnight though (went from 13.1 on the 13th to 14.0 on the 19th 😳).

codenameduchess · 24/01/2020 19:46

How did it go @Weathergirl1 ?

LouH1981 · 27/01/2020 12:03

Hi ladies, I wondered if I could join please?
DD was born by c section November 21st, 2nd child.
Have started a thread about how run down I’ve been feeling and how the 2nd c section recovery has been much harder but would be great to be around ladies at the same stage for a bit of mutual support! xxx
