gmm - Jack isn't rolling anywhere - would take a lot of effort to more that belly , Erin has been rolling for weeks.

CaptainDippy · 13/08/2007 19:06

No rolling here - P's cheeks are just waaaaaay too fat & heavy for her to be moving anywhere .... ....

JoMa · 13/08/2007 19:14

Katy, Joe slept on his front for the first 2 months, and yes, once they roll themselves you just have to leave them to it!

speaking of which, at exactly 4 months old, JOE ROLLED OVER TODAY!!!!!!
did it at nursery, but at the exact moment I walked through the door! little sod didn't know I was there!

oooggs · 13/08/2007 19:16

roll Joe, roll Joe >

geordiemacminx · 13/08/2007 19:23

oooggs · 13/08/2007 19:35

I have been considering washables but everytime I read this thread more are being bought - how is that going to save me money/washing? - how often do I need to get new ones? do they outgrow them?

JoMa · 13/08/2007 19:39

loving the vid GMM

and I too am pmsl at Finn (in a good way!)

JoMa · 13/08/2007 19:42

i've thought about it too oooggs, but not sure I could do it with work as well, and i'd have to use terries to make it financially beneficial

JoMa · 13/08/2007 19:43

Joe will only roll front to back, he too is happier to lay on his back holding his feet

JoMa · 13/08/2007 19:43

did you see my pictures? did ya? did ya?

ickleandficklefinn · 13/08/2007 19:54

Joe is such a cutie

BF at bedtime and topped up with bottle - am busy sterilising breastpump - dinner, eastenders, express and bed!!! How sad is that?!

oooggs - lol at Jack and rolling

geordiemacminx · 13/08/2007 19:57

I did indeedy - had fun guessing who was who - matthew is scrummy!!

geordiemacminx · 13/08/2007 19:59

I'm a bad mummy and have given up sterilising anything - it goes in the dishwasher and thats it... I'm working on the theory that my boobs arent "sterile" and all the toys that he picks up and puts in his mouth arent sterile - same with his fingers!!

JoMa · 13/08/2007 20:03

work on that one GMM, hven't actually got a steriliser (shhh, don't tell sis )

JoMa · 13/08/2007 20:10

on the subject of sis ...........

today's gem -

called in at gran's to collect Matthew (she had him for an hour after nursery)
on the side are 4 bottles with water in, and each has one of those little pots of powder that fit inside the lid. (niece is 11 months and 2 weeks, no cow's milk yet )
i say to gran, surely lily doesn't take that much in one day? bearing in mind it's now 5pm and sis has been out since 8am, so there's only just over 12 hours left in which to need it. no, gran says, as laura has so many bottles she makes up several days in one go, just puts the water in the bottle and adds powder when she needs it. now correct me if i'm wrong, buut isn't current advice that the water should not be left sat there for more than 24 hours, made up or not?
so apparently sis asked gran had she not seen the little powder pots before? didn't i use them? gran had to explain that as i was bf i didn't need them and that i didn't use them for matthew as advice then was to make up bottles in am for all day and keep refridgerated.

sooooooo glad they were out

Bugmum · 13/08/2007 20:18

Not a prayer of catching up, but wanted to send my love and I hope everyone is doing well.

Did read a few posts, and ooogs, I changed when PG with G to washables for DS1, and now use for both children and I would NEVER go back. Wish I'd gone with washables earlier with DS1. Love, love, love them.

You can get birth-to-potty nappies, eg Motherease do some really nice ones. Others come sized. You could of course go with terries but I am not woman enough for those! I like the shaped ones. And you will need wraps, which do tend to be sized. I don't soak (ugh!), I use the drawstring bags that go into the machine with your nappies, and I wash once a day (in the evening). Occasionally need a pre-rinse but not often. Any stains are taken out by line drying - but to be honest, I think I've had about one!

Octo is the person to talk to (sorry, can't remember all the new names ) or Dippy or Maveta or Nutty, from memory. Octo in particular, I think. And I heartily recommend the Nappy Lady service and Flamesparrow's wonder Bum Fluff site.

Hope that helps!

only make up water in bottle for a 24 hour period, chuck if you don't use it.

Pesha · 13/08/2007 20:34

Read something on here the other day that water is meant to be at 70c plus when powder is added to kill germs that can be in formula.

JoMa · 13/08/2007 20:34

thanks oooggs, might have to drop that into conversation when i see her next

happimummy · 13/08/2007 20:44

evening all

oooggs/joma - i'm a complete convert to cloth nappies. I love them and they really havn't been as much trouble as I thought they might. My main worry is drying in winter (no tumble dryer) and so I think i'm going to use more terrys with a few shaped ones to see us through the nights. But will probably get the bamboo terry squares from lollipop they're softer and not too much more expensive and still really cheap compared to shaped ones.

We've had a mooch around day today. T has been screamy all day with teething and so I've not managed to do nothing. Oh, well i guess you just have days like that sometimes.

gmm- cute vid. T is a real giggler. dh can make him giggle until he screams. It's soooooo cute. He wont do it for mummy though

flash - lol at you babe! You're making me dizzy going round in circles! Bless ya

JoMa · 13/08/2007 20:52

hm, doesn't bamboo take much longer to dry tho?

WestCountryLass · 13/08/2007 20:55

Have you givne him baby rice before FF? Course you have to try a few things and what works for you and all that....Jacob was a hungry baby, he would feed every 1.5-2 hours all day and night, I used to give him a bottle before bed because my boobs were empty flaps of skin having been drained dry all day. When he was 3 months the HV asked me about his feeding and I told her and she said, he needed baby rice which I duly gave him but it did not change a thing. He fed as regulalry as ever until he was about 9 months but he still woke for a between 2 and 4am bottle until he was about 18 months and one day he just stopped. I don't think they necessarily sleep better/longer if given bottles/food but, of course, all babies are different!
