Couldnt see a post natal group so have taken it upon myself to start one! Will obviously still keep up on antenatal also until babies have all arrived!

Shall we start a list of arrivals?

Very jealous of all your nights!! Ruth will be 4 weeks on Wednesday and still going every two hours for feeds through the night, is that normal?!

danigrace · 19/10/2019 13:43

@yevans totally normal, much more common, but I hope there's some longer stints for you soon!

@happydays00 ahhh Grin sending you "sanity vibes"!! I could use some too! Managed to get the house acceptable for the viewing but with both boys crying the last few minutes whilst I raced to finish whilst pleading with them...

danigrace · 19/10/2019 13:45

@DustyDoorframes is DP going with you and is he helpful? And is MIL nice? If yes to all of that and you're physically well enough I'd go for the "adventure"

DustyDoorframes · 19/10/2019 14:12

@danigrace and @decaf DP is going whether or not I go, and he absolutely does pull his weight, he's great. MIL is generally not at all well, so it's very stressful visiting but not hard work. She gets very stressed! But also very much wants to see us. The bigger two are likely to get quite hyped up. I'm being a wimp, aren't I?? Hmm.

Littlehouseinthebigcity · 19/10/2019 14:34

@yevans We are the same! She'll be 4 weeks on Monday and still feeding every couple of hours throughout the night. I had one night with only 4 wakings and felt that was a good one! Jealous of those long stints others are getting!

Stroan · 19/10/2019 14:58

Ah, don't worry about those of us who are having longer stretches. DS is 9 weeks now and we definitely had some nights where he was up every 2 hours.

@dustydoorframes ah, sounds difficult. I'm not sure what I would do to be honest, the journey itself would probably push me over the edge.

Sympathies on the poorly 3yo. I had one of those yesterday and by the time DH got in from work I was practically begging for just 2 minutes without someone touching me or talking at me. It makes me feel really averse to feeding sometimes, I have to psyche myself up to start because I know I'll either have a preschooler sitting on me too OR she'll be causing havoc while I can't stop her.

cinderfeckinrella · 19/10/2019 15:41

Ooh can I please join? I just had baby girl 13/08 induced at +13, 10lb 2 oz. Just recovered now. 🙁 2 ds at school and since they've been back to school they've passed on cold to dd already...

@happydays00 you're amazing to survive 5 days with the in-laws. I find visitors the hardest thing to cope with.

RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty · 19/10/2019 17:17

@DustyDoorframes the thought of that journey would terrify me! You have a totally valid reason to stay behind, although if it's easier to have you and DH together versus all the kids I get why you're tempted to go.

@danigrace moving house with a newborn- are you some kind of superhero or just plain crazy?!

@cinderfeckinrella welcome! 10lb2 gosh, I'll be pleased if DD manages to hit that by 6 weeks. Well done!

cinderfeckinrella · 19/10/2019 23:21

@Roly thanks, was traumatised by the birth really, had never experienced induction, it was awful. She was much bigger than my boys and looked so swollen, she lost about 9%.
@happydays00 @DustyDoorframes that's good to know about the 1 in 6. Was used to her constant poos but since her first vaccine only 2 poos per week for last 2 weeks. Anyone know how to help with constipation? She seems sore with it.

@iano I hope you feel better soon, that's so horrible. I had high bp week after birth and the hospital suspected postnatal preeclampsia...worst headache I've ever had. Hope you get sorted quickly. Honestly cabbage helped for me, in fridge. Doctor said savoy is best Grin For cold my dd had I also used saline spray and shower steam (which really helped although I didn't think it would.)

@Geegrl19 I have never managed to get any of mine to do daytime naps in their cot. I always had to do pram/car/baby carrier/bouncer. Fine at night but never during day.

@Moraxella agree with @kyles101 they smell the milk and get mad at you. My husband is like a baby whisperer in comparison.

RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty · 20/10/2019 00:01

@cinderfeckinrella so sorry it was traumatic. Have you had/are you going to have a birth debrief or similar to help you work through it and process?

If you're bottle feeding I think a tiny bit of cooled boiled water is the recommended antidote for constipation but not sure what if BF Confused

kyles101 · 20/10/2019 12:08

Apparently bf babies can't get constipated 🤷‍♀️ I don't get it but it's what the drs and hv keep saying. I'm in the lucky 2 poos per week camp though and I definitely know ds is uncomfortable passing wind on poo day. We've been using gripe water to help, just a half dose generally towards the evening. It must taste nice too as ds gets ever so excited about it!!

Myspiritan · 20/10/2019 12:27

@cinderfeckinrella I think 2 poos a week for bf baby is totally normal, my DD was doing that up until this week when she’s had a poorly tummy. They do get sore with wind though, the pipes are all so small and new. Warm baths can help ease things for them or you can try massage and bicycle legs, that seemed to help my colicky DD1. I watched a YouTube video with someone demonstrating if I remember rightly!

My DD tricked me with 2 nights with longer gaps then the last 2 nights has gone back to every 2 hours...so cruel.

Dyra · 20/10/2019 15:58

I'm also finding myself in the twice a week poo camp. Very weird after DD had been producing a little for every nappy change for the first 5 weeks of her life. Not sure which is better. A little every time, or an expoosion every 3-4 days.

happydays00 · 20/10/2019 16:25

DS has done a few weeks with multiple poos a day, a few weeks with 2-3 poos a week and now we seem to be on 1 poo every day / every other day. 10 weeks this week 😬

So after our worst night yet on Friday, last night I slept in the spare room and DH did the whole night. Naturally, DS slept from 6:30 to 6:30 with just one feed. No doubt we'll be back to feeding every 3 hours tonight 😂

Horehound · 20/10/2019 16:40

Arthur has his 8 week jabs tomorrow..do all babies become feverish from it? Not looking forward to it!

Also, been out and about with him a fair bit this week and I'm not impressed with any baby changing facilities!

RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty · 20/10/2019 16:48

@Horehound I think it's quite likely hence why you're recommended to give a dose of paracetamol straight after to reduce the risk of them getting one and it going too high for such a small baby. For my DS the calpol was enough to stop him getting one at all, he was just cuddly and sleepy for the afternoon so hopefully you have the same!

RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty · 20/10/2019 16:50

@Horehound also good luck! I found it harder for me (I cried and expecting to do the same this time!)

Stroan · 20/10/2019 17:00

@horehound no fever here after paracetamol, just an extra snuggly baby with a messed up poo schedule!

Baby changing facilities are the worst. The smell from nappy bins Envy

Horehound · 20/10/2019 17:16

Oh I like a sleepy cuddly baby. Yea hope I cope ok! Ok paracetamol it is. Thanks.

DustyDoorframes · 20/10/2019 17:47

Thank you @Stroan and @RolyHappyNorrieTagBetty ! I think I'm staying put. We took DC2 up at six weeks, but it was after her and my checks, so seemed more "established" somehow. And poor DC3 already has a cold so less shclepping and less exposure to germs seems best!

Re vaccinations - mine have been a bit grumpy in the evening of the first one, and a bit sleepy the next day, but otherwise nothing to report really (and subsequent doses have had even less impact)

boodles101 · 20/10/2019 18:57

horehound no fever with my two either, we actually had our best night sleep after their jabs on Thurs as they were just sleepy after!

April88 · 20/10/2019 20:04

Mine got a fever (despite calpol) and a really sore leg. He’s got his 12 week ones on Thursday but think it’s only one injection so hopefully a bit better.

PhoebeBear · 20/10/2019 23:08

Hi can I join? I had my first baby August 10th and absolutely loving motherhood! We had an awful start (forceps delivery, infected episiotomy and prolapse) but now feeling better than ever. Photo of my boy, Luca

iano · 20/10/2019 23:28

Thanks @cinderfeckinrella! Got a BP check up tomorrow and am hoping it'll have settled. I'm feeling fine but have nearly fainted several times last week so they defo need to adjust my medication.

I'm sorry to hear about your and @PhoebeBear's experience during labour. I hope you both feel completely recovered soon!

iano · 20/10/2019 23:29

What sort of nursing bras do ppl recommend. I'm so uncomfortable in my old ones. I want some decent support! Hit me with your recommendations please!!
