Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 22/09/2007 21:33

Oh dear, it seems all of your los have a virus. I hope they're alright and recover very soon.

{{{hugs}} for everyone

accessorizewithbabysick · 22/09/2007 22:15

Good lord, does anyone have a healthy baby at present? What a dreadful month for illness. I hope they all start getting well v.soon. I second Margo's hugs {{hugs}}
Indith, met your mum today She was lovely, ds1 delighted to have an audience. Hope you feel better soon as well as ds & enjoy your time in France.
Gloria, hope you've enjoyed your weekend, sounds really fab. I dream of a night away maybe by the end of the year if I stop bf.
Castles, NO, walking?!!! Honestly, those of you with moving babies, what do I do to prepare? I'm used to leaving the ds's in the living room for up to 15 mins at a time whilst I get some tea on or put some washing on. What am I meant to do with crawling ds2, not that he is yet. What are the stages, as he can slither on his tummy, do 360's and go from sitting to tummy & back again right now. Do I have weeks to go? Do you all have playpens or something? Do you take the crawling one with you wherever you go? I seriously cannot remember from ds1 and anyway then my house wasn't filled with choking hazards like lego and pencils and lots of small useless things that must be kept for eternity.
Night, all.

jabberwocky · 23/09/2007 18:19

Ds2 still very snotty adn a bit wheezy. We have his "well baby" check scheduled for tomorrow so I'm hoping for a bit of reassurance that it really is just a cold. I'm also hoping to get more information on his eczema, although it has gotten a bit better the last couple of weeks.

Calmriver · 23/09/2007 18:40

Hi All, I have become really rubbish at this whole contact thing! Anyway, i need to make more of an effort and so I WILL!

DD2 is great, although teething and generally a little clingy! She also in the last 2 days has pulled herself onto her feet and is cruising! She stands unsupported for about 15 seconds(her record!)...was doing that before cruising!BUT she still hasnt got any teeth! 10 months tmw!

Please Castles and not sure who else it was...please can we meet soon???
Weirdbird and I met on Thursday which was really cool!

Anyway, please please please!!!???

FunkyGlassSlipper · 23/09/2007 20:51

Hi guys.

DD2 still not well. She has a permanent cold it seems.

Where are you calm?

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 23/09/2007 21:54

Why should these little one be suffering so much? It's not fair.

I have felt quite useless in these last few weeks, all I want to do is take away their pain and make them better. Of course, dd1 was made better by antibiotics but mummy hugs should have the same effect.

It was dd1s birthday yesterday, I am the proud mother of a threenager!

jabberwocky · 24/09/2007 01:04

oh, margo, hold on to your sanity The 3's were when things really got tough with ds1.

magnolia74 · 24/09/2007 07:27

Calm, aren't you near me? I,m Epsom Surrey

FunkyGlassSlipper · 24/09/2007 08:24

Margo - hate to break it to you but 3 has been much harder than 2 with my DD. I thought I'd got away with it and missed the terrible two's...

Elibean · 24/09/2007 09:57

Calm, am in SW London, any use? Definitely hoping to meet with Castles soon, viral LOs allowing.

All poorly LOs, extra (((mummy hugs))) from this mummy. My dds are sort of just about better, so have some to spare...though took dd1 back to pre-school with trepidation this morning: that'll be half an hour of phonics and some pink playdough play, with a pinch of vomiting bug and two ounces of RSV please

Margo, happy birthday to your threenager! My experience of 3 yr old dd has been hard work mixed with the most lovely moments yet: extremes of affection and fury combined with heaps of awareness and new skills. Enjoy

dd2 is 10 months old today

babypowder · 24/09/2007 12:33

Margo, for me 3 was fantastic!

Hands up, who cleans their LO's new teeth every morning and night? How do you do it?

castlesintheair · 24/09/2007 13:20

Er, not me BP

DD2 is keeping me up all night with her teething dramas so I am back to being a zombie. She's currently sprouting incisors but doesn't have the 2 top middle ones. Is this normal?? Apart from that, we are all well so I'm very sorry to hear about all the yucky bugs etc. Hope everyone is better soon.

Thanks for the sympathy re DD2 walking! I am hoping it was a temporary blip as she hasn't walked freestyle since just continues to cruise extremely fast, crawl extremely fast and cause general mayhem.

Calm, I'd love to meet! Best times for me are Monday or Friday morning. You can email me at [email protected]

Margo, DD1 has been a little angel since hitting the so called 'threenagers'. I found the terrible 2's more appropriate for her.

castlesintheair · 24/09/2007 13:23

Happy 10 months baby-Elibean! We are going to a 1st birthday from one of our little group this afternoon

I must say I am rather enjoying having just DD2 for a couple of hours each morning, that's once the flippin' nightmare of getting the other 2 to school and nursery is over

accessorizewithbabysick · 24/09/2007 13:31

I have brushed ds2's teeth once since he got them (he's got 4) I forget every time! Even when he had chocolate cake for dp's birthday.
Margo, I've found 3 to be great with ds1, so great when they can express themselves & just do more things.
hugs again to all poorly lo's!

Elibean · 24/09/2007 13:38

Thanks, Castles

I thought the ? re tooth brushing was about older sibs for whom yes, of course, twice a day, but dd2? Not once yet - mind you, she only has two partial teeth so far. She's SO pissed off if anyone tries to spoon feed her, the thought of brushing her teeth makes me quail tbh - she'd happily try and do it herself (as per spoon) but 10 mos might be a touch young

I don't remember brushing dd1s teeth until she was well over a year old, either

Elibean · 24/09/2007 13:40

Just remembered chat with my dentist, from the mists of dd1's babyhood: he said (and he's a fusspot) that kids don't get plaque till they're over 2 years old, and that he didnt' care about people brushing baby teeth till then (except as play, to get them used to the routine, etc) but what he DID mind was what they ate and drank. ie dried fruit, fruit juice etc far worse than not brushing teeth for the under 2s.

Phew

babypowder · 24/09/2007 14:16

LOL Eli I'm not that bad a mum! Mind you, DD1 (who does have her teeth brushed twice a day by me) has 1 decaying tooth already That's despite me being a food fascist. Apparently its because she was allergic to dairy as a baby and the calcium supplement isn't as effective. Terribly upsetting, though.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 24/09/2007 14:26

I brush DD1s teeth. DD2 only has 2 so I dont bother although she has a toothbrush and loves to suck it

Elibean · 24/09/2007 16:58

bp no, clearly thats me with the bad-mum thinking, not you. re dd1's poor tooth, I can see why it feels upsetting - especially as you were utterly powerless in preventing it. I didn't know that about dairy and teeth, interesting (and worrying).

FunkyGlassSlipper · 24/09/2007 16:59

I am still on my period

babypowder · 24/09/2007 22:17

FGS, aren't you exhausted? I meant what I said about the iron, you know. Poor thing.

Calmriver · 24/09/2007 22:35

Hi All, Im in Kingston, so close to you all it seems...where should we meet? What about in Starbucks sometime? Can you guys do Thursday 4th Oct? so next week? let me know.?would be sooo cool! x

margosbeenplayingwithmynoonoo · 24/09/2007 22:37

FGS

Okay - re. my threenager, expect the worst but hope for the best?

After her bout of illness, all cheekiness and naughtiness has been forgiven.

jabberwocky · 25/09/2007 02:50

I was just admitting with embarrassment today at the dr's office that I forget to brush ds2's teeth quite often He seems to like it when we do it though. I seem to recall ds1 hating it. so we did our well baby check which was supposed to be at 9 months but our dr. moved so by the time I found her and got in ds2 was 10 months + 2 days She said cough was nothing to be worried about and iron levels are good and is being a perfect angel about doing singles instead of the MMR in a few months

magnolia74 · 25/09/2007 13:14

I have brushed ds1's teeth about 3 times but keep forgetting
Still snotty here
Calm, I can get to kingston but might have to wait till dd4 goes full time in November as I have to pick her up at 11.45 and then get back for 3pm for older girls so its a bit of a pain
