New thread for our incessant chatter!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
castlesintheair · 20/09/2007 13:15

Oh dear the sickness has started hope everyone's LOs get better soon. Hope DD4 is OK Magnolia? And Elibean, let me know if you want to meet and chat anytime ... I still have nightmares about DD1's stint in hospital aged 4 weeks and I also can't really remember much of the gory details, so I kinda know how you feel.

This is my 1st 5 minutes on-line in a week??? I seem to be in a mad rush now taking to DS to school, DD1 to nursery (different locations) and DD2 to all her activities/playgroups. EXERCISE!!!!! Where do you all find the time? I'm so envious (and lazy ) but I just don't seem to be able to do anything about my blubber at the moment. Maybe next year???? And we are talking end of 2008 when DD1 starts school!

castlesintheair · 20/09/2007 13:18

How I wish I could post photos on here as I've got a brilliant one of DD2 cheekily standing in the middle of the room unsupported, before she walked to the coffee table

magnolia74 · 20/09/2007 13:51

WALKED!?!?!? Omg Thats it now, you won't need any extra excersise!

Why can't you post pics?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 20/09/2007 13:58

[schock] walked!

My DD is cruising now so i'm not sure it will be long. DD1 was nowhere near trhat at this age.

magnolia74 · 20/09/2007 14:01

Ds1 has only been crawling for 2 weeks and started pulling himself up to his knees the other day. I don't really want walking for a while

castlesintheair · 20/09/2007 14:16

Magnolia, I can't post pics as I don't know how to

babypowder · 20/09/2007 16:00

OMG - Walking? DD2 isn't even crawling yet, and yours is walking?! Its true, though, you won't need to schedule exercise into your routine now!

Eli, my youth is a distant country now - wartorn, ravaged and economically broken, and very, very far away. Thank god Sadly, my parents seem much closer to it than I, and will insist on referring to my indiscretions at every conceivable opportunity!

magnolia74 · 20/09/2007 22:18

castles go to my mumsnet and create a public profile, add your pics there

jabberwocky · 21/09/2007 04:12

Wow, castles, I don't know whether to say congratulations at having the first walker or offer my condolences

DS1 seems to be bouncing back already, ds2 still snotty and wheezy

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/09/2007 08:21

DD2 ill again. Cold & cough. Snot everywhere ..sigh.

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/09/2007 08:23

and I am on day 12 of a heavy period. Double sigh.

babypowder · 21/09/2007 10:13

Jabber and FGS (and everyone else with sick LOs) hope your DCs feel better soon.

And FGS, hope you're getting loads of iron in your diet, dear

Gosh, I'm feeling really blue today, for no good reason at all. Must get busy and see if I can shake it off. Wish my back didn't hurt so much.

Maybe I'll have a good cry first - that usually sorts me out!

babypowder · 21/09/2007 18:35

Much happier now, and no crying required. Just lots of strong coffee and G&B 70%

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/09/2007 20:11

Glad you feel a bit better. We all have days like that.

Indith · 21/09/2007 20:25

Walking! Walking!

Ds still not worked out crawling, but the frustration is easing as he can shuffle forwards a bit so between rolling, turning in the spot and going backwards can pretty much move where he wants.

Magnolia I really hope that all goes well with the blood tests. Hopefully they find whatever it is and fix it (am assuming that is a better option than finding nothing and her continuing to be ill iykwim)

Chocolate always works for me BP. That or a good cry in front of something pointless, Neighbours can usually set me off

Well Jabber I discovered tooth number 3 so you may have been right or it may have something to do with the following. In any case, can I press pause on the teething for a bit please?

I have felt like poo today, resorted to crawling around the house earlier as raising my head at all made me feel sick and dizzy. Thakfully a friend came and entertained ds while I went back to bed. I am starting to hate the way you just can't know what is wrong with babies. Ds and I are good at sharing bugs and I have been exhausted the past few days, still shattered today and my throat is swollen. Ds has been very sucky, unsettled but shattered, got very annoyed at me when I tried to feel his throat but then was grumpy anyway. And how can you tell if a baby is swollen? They have 10 chins anyway!

Arse, that reminds me that I have yet to get an E111 for ds and we are off to France on Sunday!

Gloria42 · 21/09/2007 22:13

Hello everyone, me and DS want to join your snotty-nosed gang! So far (touch wood) just runny noses but I think DS is teething as well. A little top tooth has appeared this week (making 4 in total) but I think there are more on the way.
I should be happy or excited as DP and I are off to Cardiff for the weekend, he's golfing and I'm keeping him company from the warmth of the spa! But at the moment I can see it far enough. I hate packing and am having major separation anxiety from DS. It's the first time he's been away from us even overnight and we won't see him from lunchtime tomorrow until Monday night (actually he won't even see us then as he will hopefully be in bed!) My DPs are coming here to babysit for the weekend so should feel comforted, they did manage to raise me and my DB safely!?

babypowder · 21/09/2007 22:18

Gloria, I'm so impressed that you are getting a weekend to yourselves!

Indith, get yourself back in your bed, woman! It sounds like your DS and my DD have been sharing mobility tips. She can't crawl yet either, but still manages to move at pace across rooms! Where in France are you going - can you tell I'm desperate for a holiday?

Any news, Magnolia?

Elibean · 21/09/2007 22:24

Another ed post re WALKING! Castles, do you mean to tell me that sweet little bean I met a few months ago is upright? Mobile?! Yes, be lovely to meet up again (as soon as we're germ-free, or nearly) and she can help me baby-proof, I've forgotten what a mobile baby can get up to.

Jabber and all others with sick babes/LOs, or who are sick themselves (Indith, that sounds horrible), hope you and they are better v soon. And there was us lot thinking visiting Jabber would sort out the viruses, eh? No escape then

Still feels like a hospital here. dd1 has ABs 3x day, puffer 4x day. dd2 has her reflux meds 3x and calpol whenever, and is terminally snotty with a very sore throat. I am doing lots of talking about last year, and HDU, and the details I never got to talk to anyone about, and can finally separate my healthy little 10 month old (in 3 days!) with a stinking cold from the almost-died little 4 week old with RSV.

Though I admit I still feel a bit stressed at night, and popped in to see GP this pm when her temp seemed to rise (dropped again when we got there ) to make sure nothing nasty was happening

Am bored with myself for talking viral talk. On more exciting note, dd2 crawled (properly) across floor today, yelping with frustration all the way. And thats plenty enough mobility for me, thank you, dd2...

Elibean · 21/09/2007 22:26

ps BP, your youth sounds suspiciously like mine - we can agree to let them crumble quietly into the mists of time unmentioned. My own parents try not to remember too much about mine, though

Gloria42 · 21/09/2007 23:12

BP, must try to count blessings! It's so good of my parents to take him all weekend, what would be the point to worry all the time?? I might as well enjoy myself. Have already packed 2 books and intend to buy lovely magazines at airport!

jabberwocky · 22/09/2007 03:17

I thought of that, eli. The first hint of cooler weather and down the two of mine go. Ds2 is still a bit wheezy, which I hate, but he seems to be in a good humor for the most part so I'm trying not to worry. I keep telling myself it is obviously just a cold.

magnolia74 · 22/09/2007 16:15

Oh more babies with colds

Indith, go to bed!!! Can't believe you are going to france when you are ill. Will you enjoy it at all? I know you probably can't cancel but travelling when ill is horrible

Dd4's blood test went ok, she screamed but was fine after. Dh took her. Results won't be back for 2 weeks

Ds1 has the worst cold ever, streaming nose, eyes are red and puffy and he is just whinging, sleeping, feeding

Elibean · 22/09/2007 17:02

Magnolia, yours too? Glad blood test went ok, relatively. Two weeks seems long!

Am very tempted to book winter sun holiday regardless of a) cost b) thought of long haul travel with two LOs and c) odds of one of them being ill and unable to travel anyway

Jabber, dd1 is still wheezy, when she runs etc - I hate it too. GP said it would clear up though; hope your LOs well soon.

Gloria, you lucky lady, enjoy

dd2 excelled herself at 5am by feeding, then coughing and throwing up all over self, bed, and then me. Full change, followed by more milk, followed by explosive diarrhoea over self, bed, etc. Full change. dd1 woken up by noise. Finally, they both slept till 8am...!

Still, they're both in much better shape today, so am happy

babypowder · 22/09/2007 20:15

Quick note - DD2 FINALLY has a tooth! Now the fun begins ...

babypowder · 22/09/2007 20:41

I've been a bit AWOL today, as DD1 has had a temperature of nearly 39C all day. She has no other symptoms, but she's clearly under the weather. It's so scary when they have fevers.

Ii's suddenly dawned on me that my mum and dad are going to be arriving on Friday. My mum is a bit like the queen, in that she thinks that the everywhere smells of furniture polish. I'm going to have to get my skates on and get this house clean!

How are all the poorly ones today?
