In the night garden fans here too! We have bought the magazine this month so DS has been having lots of Igglepiggle bedtime stories with the free glove puppet!

Sallyallyally · 13/09/2007 18:28

Very tired....yawn!

Sallyallyally · 13/09/2007 18:29

Actually very, very tired. Anyone fancy babysitting!!!

babydriver · 13/09/2007 22:30

Tired here too. DS2 has another cold thanks to his bro, or another tooth coming through, or tummyache, or something anyway which kept waking him up every hour or so for the last few nights. Just now burbling through the monitor probably as a precursor to fullblown screaming fit...

Haven't yet got my head round only having DS1 out of the house for 2hrs a day instead of all day for a couple of days, so huge backlog of jobs, and not much time to log in. Can't believe there are crawlers out there already! EEEKK!

Must dash!

SmudgeMum · 14/09/2007 09:28

Morning all. Can I join in the tired club. DS has got a cold/tooth/something combo too Babydriver and has been waking up loads too. He had croup the last 2 nights so I've been taking him in the bathroom and putting the shower on full blast at about 3am!! Nearly scalded DH this morning as I obviously forgot to turn the temp back down! Also, does anyone know if it is physically possible for snot to come out of their eyes or does DS just wipe it up there?
We're nearly crawling properly (as opposed to wriggling and inching around) but I think that's going to stop for a while as I'm not allowed to put him down without puppy like whimpering. Sallyallyally I can babysit tonight if you want to get some sleep!!!

Sallyallyally · 14/09/2007 09:58

Bless you Smudgemum! Have negotiated a lie in on Sunday so fingers crossed!!!
Have had to put in stairgates...Henry has taken off, however hasn't affected sleep (waking regularly!!) just appetite...eating large quantities of dinners now with associated mmmmmm noises and lip smacking!
With naps (2 or 3 a day of 20 to 30 mins), Henry is averaging about 12 hours sleep in every 24. (Although he wakes about 5 or 6 times during night!) How does this compare?

SmudgeMum · 14/09/2007 10:29

I'm hoping for a lie in tomorrow Sallyallyally but I've got a bit of a milk problem. I seem to be only able to express about 1oz at a time so I have to weigh up how much I need a lie in versus how long I want to spend pumping to get about 4oz that he then probably won't drink because it's out of a bottle grrrrrr!!
DS up until now was waking two or three times in the night between 7pm and 7.30am. Then has 3 or 4(but starting to drop this now)naps in the day of about 40 mins each. He is loving his food, especially fruit which he would eat til he popped. He always has a nectarine/plum/pear in slices at various points through every meal and really loves them. It's hilarious to see him shovel it in. He also inhales kiwi I'm sure.
DS is also a TV addict and will even watch the blank screen!! He's also a wee bit confused and thinks the microwave is a TV too (bless!) He smiles when he sees the TV on and flaps his arms around. I don't let him watch much though but it's such a godsend when you need to make a phone call etc

peachygirl · 14/09/2007 20:22

I'm very tired too today. DD has woken at 2 ish the last few nights, the dream feed doesn't seem to make a difference to this so we have dropped it for a while to see what happens.

peachygirl · 17/09/2007 20:39

gosh, that tumbleweed is rolling past again

marmitemad · 17/09/2007 21:15

no crawling here yet, just mini push ups and lots of rolling. dd can stand up when supported on furniture (new pic on profile)or by hands and actually resists bending her legs when we are trying to get her to sit down sometimes.

Food is going ok with chicken, lamb and beef well received but not impressed with hoki. I have been introducing some pots of Plum baby food in preparation for our holiday and strangely the favourite is carrot & sweetcorn when carrot is rejected in every other form. We are down to 3 milk feeds/day and can drink water from a cup with help. No teeth yet though.

We have also joined the library and been along to bounce & rhyme and story-time sessions leading to much clapping from dd at the wrong times .

off now to attempt more packing (how on earth am I going to fit everything in 2 cases?)

MoosMa · 17/09/2007 21:51

MM, I meant to tell you, now that I've been taking the amitriptilyne (or however you spell it) for quite a while I'm not getting so drowsy in the mornings with it although it does still help me get to sleep at night and stops DH's snoring waking me up

marmitemad · 18/09/2007 09:39

Hi Moosma,
Yes I forgot to say that I finally picked up the liquid Amitriptyline yesterday (pharmacy took over 3 weeks to order it in!!) and took it last night for the first time. I did still get a numb tongue but slept better and felt ok this morning, so thanks for your recommendation. I have now also had my 6 month consultant review and have decided to go back on Methotrexate but to take it at a lower dose in combo with my other drugs so hopefully this will improve the pain without too many side effects.

peachygirl · 18/09/2007 20:47

Hi all, nice to see you marmite I was thinking you hadn't been on for a bit. I couldn't remember when your holiday was. i thought you had already gone!
we are weaning quite well too, but haven't really ventured into the protein zone yet.
We did take about maybe a meet up at the baby show .... anyone up for it. I am thinking of going. You all know I love a freebie!

MoosMa · 18/09/2007 22:06

I would love to go to the babyshow (I've never been to anything like that before), where and when is it?

babydriver · 18/09/2007 22:17

Might be up for the baby show, depending on when it is.

Weaning going OK I think, but next batch of teeth on their way and really seem to be bothering him so meals can be a bit fractious. Chicken v popular, and mince fine too. Hoping to drop the lunchtime bf in the next few days as it's fairly perfunctory now.

Keep meaning to mention, we went to the toy library the other day and got a fab fisher price thingy with lots of balls and whirly things to play with when sitting up. DS thinks it's great. Can def recommend toy libraries - great for stuff LOs might like for a few months and then grow out of so not worth buying. DS1 likes it for the jigsaws.

See y'all!

peachygirl · 19/09/2007 21:22

It's at earls court. I went last year wth my mum
babyshow

I may have a problem with it actually as my childminder has just told me they are off on holiday the week before and my mum and auntie will be around so I can ask them to help out but their stay may overlap.. I'll know more in a week, Mum and Dad are in spain.

Bienchen · 20/09/2007 08:25

Good morning all!

Gosh, no sitting here but DD will sit in highchair quite happily.

She loves fruit but not sure about some veg especially tomato sauce. Also good with bread and pasta.

She has been fairly grumpy and restless at night for a few days so maybe the top teeth will make an appearance soon. Resorted to a nightfeed last night just to get her back at 3am!

We had a few appliances play up, so I had to go out and buy a new router for our PC, have to use a different programme on the dishwasher and the low heat tumble dry function seems to have stopped functioning too which is a pain with the nappies.

On a personal note, I got the results back from my RHS exam and I passed with commendation - no idea how as I really found it difficult to revise with a baby around. If the jobsearch is going nowhere, I might just set myself up as a self-employed gardener.

Midlands mee-up did not happen yet as not enough feedback re dates. It has been suggested to pick another date some time in October and see whether this appeals to a few more.

peachygirl · 20/09/2007 20:27

Well done bienchen with your exam!

forgottenfreetime · 22/09/2007 15:36

Hi, Been away for a few days so not on the net for a while. Hope everyone is well. Have finally moved DD into her own room and it has done the trick with sleeping - she has gone for 4/7 nights without waking so hopefully this is the start of better sleep for me. I really need my sleep before I go back to work so I'm soo thankful. DD has started sitting for longer after my lament last week! She must have heard me! It's good actually since she seems a lot more settled now she can sit up and play with and reach her toys. DS seems to have reacted well too as she is getting a lot fewer 'cuddles' which were always a bit too rough and a trigger for some upsets.

Bienchen - I replied to your mail last night. Sorry it was too late for last week but remember any Mon, Thur or Fri is ok with me in Oct after the 8th Oct.

MoosMa · 23/09/2007 21:33

SHE CAN SIIIIIIIIIIT!!!

All of a sudden she can sit completely unaided for ages and ages

She's getting a tooth too (1st one, bottom left). And she weighs 18lbs - hoorah.

babydriver · 23/09/2007 21:58

It's great when they can sit isn't it! DS2 now loves being on his playmat in the kitchen with a tub of things to explore, or a takeaway menu or other illicit pleasure. Shame he's actually not far off crawling (I think) so he'll be banished from the kitchen once we get round to putting the gate back up...

DS1 seems to have settled very well into school and thankfully calmed down a bit. I can now manage to leave them together for a short while again without random acts of violence taking place. Now all we need is for DS2 to sleep through the night. Still wakes for a feed 4/5 ish and has been suffering with tummyache/teeth for a few weeks now.

Hope everyone has a good week.

peachygirl · 24/09/2007 20:36

Hi everyone.
Great news about the sitting Moosma and about DS1 at school baby driver.
We have a tooth beginning here too and
we have also been having better nights, for the last few DD has slept from 11ish til 5-5:30am which I happy about.
I am still breast feeding when I'm with her but I'm getting a bit concerned that she isn't getting enough milk during the day. Today she fed at 5am then two little feeds this morning 10 mins or so and the one this afternoon and then a tiny bit to get her off to sleep. My breasts don't feel full and I don't get engorged when I'm not with her. Any advice??

babydriver · 26/09/2007 22:21

V quiet this week?

Just have to report that I (unintentionally) made DS1's day yesterday. Whilst hanging around at the vets a few weeks ago I'd filled out a card requesting a free fire safety check for our home, which was organised for yesterday. I was just expecting a bloke in a van to pop in and check our alarms and stuff, so little did I expect - nor DS1 who opened the door with me - to find four burly firemen AND THE FIRE ENGINE!!!! DS1 followed them around the house and then got to sit in the engine and try on a helmet and stuff. So, if you have a thing for firemen, or a LO with a thing for fire engines, book your safety check now!

Bye for now.

suzi2 · 27/09/2007 09:13

lol babydriver. I just had mine yesterday too. DS was sleeping and would be gutted if he had known an engine had come around. I was quite chuffed with the quality of the firemen lol. Shame DH was upstairs and I couldn't flirt pmsl!

Baby driver that happened to my mum. All her friends got a man with a van but they got the fire engine. It made my brothers day too.
I shouldn't have spoken so soon about the sleeping the last two nights have been terrible!
