Hi everyone

Mossy - I think the time between rolling and crawling varies TBH - they can seem "on the verge if crawling" for weeks - they often can crawl backwards first (very frustrating - the more they crawl, the further away their toys get!! )

Hi Choccie [waves]

Piff - I get that ovulation pain too - R U having AFs again now? [nosy personal emoticon]. Is it possible to conceive before AFs come back [in my dreams emoticon ]

Rosy how many BFs does Hasan have every 24 hrs ?

sazzybee · 22/09/2007 22:06

Elliot cannot crawl or roll over or stand up. Should I be worried?! He can feed himself with a spoon though and he seems happy enough.

I had him weighed the other day after my mum's fat comments. He's not even 18 lbs! He only weighs 2 oz less than my friend's baby who's 2 months younger. I told my mum and she said that she thought he'd lost weight . Ha! And I was hoping for an apology or something

sazzybee · 22/09/2007 22:06

oh yes and my AF came back the day before he turned 6 months.

evenhope - I loved that story about the man in the supermarket

Rosylily · 23/09/2007 07:16

Foxy I have no idea, it's all a blur! Feels like about 10.

Sazzy I think it's very clever of Elliot to be able to feed himself with a spoon! Hasan is rolling and still trying to get up on all fours. I don't think you should be at all worried.

Callieco · 23/09/2007 09:45

Sazzy, Jordi's not doing any of those things. He prefers "standing", ie while I'm holding him up, although he doesn't need too much support on his super-strong legs. I think he's light years off crawling as he still doesn't like being on his front. I think being prem he'll probably be behind on those things anyway, so I'm trying not to worry. He's 8.5/6.5 months now.

Mossy · 23/09/2007 09:46

Sazzy how annoying about your Mum not apologising. I could give you a whole story about something similar with dh and mil but time prevents me... maybe later!

As for Elliot... wow he can feed himself with a spoon! And babies develop different things at different times. One of my rl friends used to say her baby was thick because all her friends' babies could sit up by themselves and some could roll over. Then one day, her son was able to:

Sit up
Roll over
Finger feed
Crawl (backwards)
Say dadadad and nananana

... and he even cut his first tooth!

Will come back later, Bertie having a wail.

DollyPopsOut · 23/09/2007 11:35

Hola everyone. Just checking in before we zip off on our holidays to sunny spain. It's very hot there at the moment though - hope the babies will be OK

Sazzy, Tilly can't crawl yet either. If you put her on her tummy she skydives and raises her arms and legs, but that's it. I think feeding oneself is a far better skill to have than crawling. Know which I'd rather do! Piffle, think it is only days beofre Mr Finn is off though! He has a great smile too.

No AF or anything here yet. I did have an "ohmygod am I pregnant" moment last week as i felt a bit odd but happily am not. Twould be a miracle as DH and I have only done it 2x since T was born but you never know. I see that he has put a packet of condoms on his pile of clothes that I have laid out to go in the suitcase . Will have to see about that. T is still completely milk fed but I don't feed often enough in the night for the Lactational Amenorrhea {sp?] thing to work, despite what the GP said.

I worked yesterday and so DH had both girls for the day. T had 5 bottles which I suppose is fair enough as I was out from 6.45 til past 7 at night. My boobs were ready to explode though. I could feel them inflating as my afternoon class went on. Hope that no one noticed though.

HAs Diva been on lately by the way?

I must go and feed T then do more packing. Have a wonderful couple of weeks, enjoy your beautiful babies and i'll see you at the beginning of Oct.

Love to all XX

Rosylily · 23/09/2007 11:46

Dolly have a great holiday!

sazzybee · 23/09/2007 12:47

Have a lovely holiday dolly - I'm envious! Although possibly not about the condoms

Thanks for reassurances everyone - I know it's silly but I get those emails from Babycentre still and they keep saying that he should be rolling in both directions by now and he can't even do one. He hasn't spent a lot of time on his back up until the last few weeks though which probably doesn't help. He hated his babygym till recently and was only really happy in his bouncy chair which isn't going to help is it?

Those of you who've moved the baby into their own room - are they sleeping through the night? I'm thinking of doing it as Elliot wakes me up a lot (even when he's not woken himself up iyswim) by the odd cry etc but he rarely sleeps through at the moment and I'm worried that if I have to get up and go to another room, I'll never get back to sleep. x

Where is diva?!

foxcub · 23/09/2007 13:57

Dolly - have a brilliant break in Spain LOL at your inflatable boobs [wink

I hope Diva - and Kitty - are OK

Sazzy - I bet if you let Elliot soend more time on his back he will soon start rolling over. I noticed Monti didn't start until I let him go on his back more. He was proppsed up on cushions before (not good for rolling).

DH is working very long hours atm, so I had to ferry three kids to church on my own this morning. Then of course they all needed the loo in the middle of mass. DD was being a star, practicing her writing letters, which DS1 embarassed me by pulling out his nintendo .

Planning on visiting Kew Gardens this arvo so they can all have a run

Rosylily · 23/09/2007 16:53

Diva is attempting to stay off mumsnetcome back Diva!
I think kitty's a bit stressed. Come back Kitty!

Rosylily · 23/09/2007 16:54

Foxcub much sympathy and well done for making it to mass with the kids on your own!

Sazzy, since rono's been in his own bed he's slept through everynight 12 hours!!!!

OP posts:
foxcub · 23/09/2007 19:40

Kitty - at Rono!! Is he in your room or a seperate room?

Sorry about the Au Pair attached to you - that would drive me up the bloody wall - its bad enough having yer kids follow you round, without a full grown woman doing it as well

Leoladyofleisure · 23/09/2007 19:57

Hi all, sorry its been such a long time again! I do wonder how you are all doing though.

We've just got back from 3 weeks holiday.

DTs are still adorable, but still keeping me up too much at night, I went through a really bad, bad time, although I only realise now how bad I was feeling. Also anyone who says their babies are sleeping through the night! But they will tonight, they will tonight, they will tonight.....!!!!!!

I think 6/7 months is early for a baby to be sitting themselves up, standing themselves up or crawling. DTs are rolling, moving along the floor (backwards), but definitely not sitting themselves up or crawling and they are only making oooh, aaaah, eeeeh sounds (not mentioning crying, burping, farting, raspberry blowing....) and eating with a spoon themselves , I've given them spoons but they tend to flap their arms around a lot so I'm going to leave it at empty spoons for a bit longer, although I do remember ds1 fed himself almost from 6 months.

Anyone doing only finger foods instead of purees?

Callieco · 23/09/2007 20:12

Leo, good to hear from you. Am on the purees here.

Having a stressful evening- Jordi is running a temp - was 39.1C but he was crying a lot, then took it after calpol and milk when he was in his cot and it was 38.1, but he's still hot and he's been crying on and off (mostly on) all day. He woke up three times last night, not like him - I think it's probably a cold, as he's a bit snotty, but am just worried cos he hasn't really done this before even when he had colds previously. I'm not putting him in his sleeping bag but just with a sheet and blanket over him cos I'm worried about overheating. Any suggestions welcome.

Leoladyofleisure · 23/09/2007 20:15

is he teething?

wipe his hands and feet and legs with a cool, wet cloth that can help bring a temperature down.

Advice here is that if he has a temperature for 3 days you should see a doctor.

kittywits · 23/09/2007 20:34

leo, i bet those twins are keeping you busy! the lack of sleep must be very stressful
Rono's in his own room foxy/.

He can sit up on his own now and at 5 months I think he's been my earliest 'sitter'. He kind of walks his hands forward and then falls flat on his face .
Absolutely no rolling though and he HATES it on his tum.

Still somewhat 'ginger' of colour. I say Strawberry blond, it's yummy!!

Still a miserable git for great swathes of time, scream, scream, scream. But when he smiles it lights up his whole little face (ahhhh!)

Callie keep him cool, just in a vest, hope he's feeling better tomorrow. Rono had a horrid temp 2 weeks ago, all hot and floppy and an awful rash all over his torso.
This caused him to be even more crotchty than normal!!
Anyways what i mean is that they get all sorts of viral infections which although annoying will pass.

OP posts:
foxcub · 23/09/2007 21:01

Callie have you tried infant nurofen/calpol together to bring his temp down? [higs to Jordi]

Leo - lovely to hear how those twins are doing. Monti is blowing rasberries too - its quite funny!!

Kitty - nice to hear of another red head in the world

foxcub · 23/09/2007 21:02

I mean [hugs] to Jordi

Piffle · 23/09/2007 21:10

Foxy no Af's yet but reckon now Finn going 9 hrs at night and given the ov pain, I'll be looking at one in a cpl of weeks.

Sazzy Finn cannot even get food to his mouth via his hands yet, so the spoon feeding is fine motor which is awesome - see it as the difference between a famous writer and a footballer LOL

Sazzy splurge and buy beg or borrow an ikea poang chair, I got this and when I put Finn in his own room this made the night time visits bearable. He def 10% honest sleeps better and now so do I after moving him.

Weel dp has bought me a b'day present, however he is away on my b'day morning at work conference...
he has given 4 yr old dd strict orders to stop me from opening it (I hate surprises lol)
now pissing him off is do able and I don;t care but if she knew I'd done it and sneaked a look early I'd be sad, so it's bloody worked then!

Right new hair all short, loks nothing liek the sodding pic I took in and requires much grooming to look decent but if I do bother I look much better IMO
Will post a pic when I get it looking like the hairdresser did LOL

CAllie sorry Jordi is under the weather could be teething dr's always say it does make babies ill but it is always worth getting it checked as 39 is quite high BUT it means his body is fighting things off itself and this helps build immunity so well done Jordi! Hoep is is feeling better soon

oh yeah we've got two teeth here (blase 3rd child syndrome) only noticed as when he sucked on nice cool cucumber slive earlier he bit a decent chunk off and nearly choked
ahh well...

right must go and cosy up to dp as he is away til Tuesday pm

xx

TheBlonde · 23/09/2007 21:34

Hi all

Welcome back ChocPenny and Leo

I had lunch with a friend and DD was not happy she didn't have anything so I gave her some cucumber to gum on (no teeth yet)

Leo - I am doing finger foods and puree

Sazzy - Both of mine were in their own rooms from 6 weeks and I find everyone sleeps better apart

No AF here but with DS it didn't return until 8 mths. Hope it stays away longer.

LunarSea · 23/09/2007 22:02

Leo - doing a mix of finger foods and puree here, but he definately prefers the finger foods, or the lumpier not-quite-purees (like shredded wheat for breakfast!) to the really smooth stuff.

kittywits · 23/09/2007 22:02

Ladies you've GOT TO, I REPEAT GOT TO to do this quiz it's off a middle class ponce/bore thread!! My names jade-kaylah!!
