@WhatALearningCurve oh I really feel for you. I was sat thinking to myself the other day what I'm going to be like when I have to go back to work. It brought a tear to my eye the thought of leaving her. Let's get that lottery win haha

BadBadBeans · 04/07/2019 11:38

@kee80 @WhatALearningCurve I do feel so lucky to work freelance. Although I am kind of at the other end of the spectrum wondering how the heck I'm going to sort out enough days of childcare to get the amount of work I need to do done! I copy-edit novels as my job, which involves having to work at least two or three days in a row because it requires a lot of short-term memory power in order to spot continuity mistakes. I only really want to put J into nursery 1 day a week from about 10 months old, which is what I did with my first and it worked beautifully. But my husband will potentially be going up to 4 days a week... Argh! I'm thinking I might start up a little crafting side-business where I can get a load of stock made up now and then all (haha, 'all') I have to do is to sell it when it comes time to work again... Question is, what to craft? I've been thinking about having a bash at felt flowers and making little wreaths to sell online and at craft fairs, but I don't know how realistic that is. I need to find me a crafts business person and question them!

melissa112 · 04/07/2019 12:24

@Angelmiracle thanks for the link to the pram shade. Glad you had a lovely holiday and sounds like your little one did really well. I'm with you on the handwashing after the rotavirus! Did you find any baby classes that let your DS come along? That's great that DD is settling in the snuzpod and for naps too!

@kee80 glad you had a good day out the other day. We haven't converted the pram yet but i know he'll be made up when we do. We have a gro egg for our thermometer, it seems to be good. We have the newer version upstairs and the old one downstairs and both aligned when we had them next to each other to test so I'm happy with them.

@Sheeni no advice on the hair pulling sorry, has he calmed down with it over the last few days?

@cardboard33 where are you off to on your holidays? Hope you have an amazing time! Oh yeh i saw that there was a sensory class during the summer, very pleased about that! We've also had more poos than usual this week along with dribbling and wanting to chew on everything and i definitely think they can start teething this early even if the tooth doesn't come through for a while

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever we are using Aldi size 3 nappies. We've been in size 3 about a month as although hes only 20percentile for weight he is quite tall and the size 2 weren't covering him. We've had no issues with leaking apart from when DP forgets to point his bits down 🤣

@Jenfur i think theres a development leap starting around 14 weeks and potentially lasting to 19 weeks according to my wonder weeks app. My little one definitely changed around week 14 and was fighting naps very hard so the opposite to you but I guess they all handle them differently.

@BadBadBeans you're welcome, and thank you for your support too. Just knowing you have managed to come out the other side with the anxiety really helps a lot. It has gotten worse sadly in the past few days with the amount of hand washing and convincing myself i have an imaginary coldsore even though I've never had one. But my mind is still asking me 'what if' and making me wash my hands way too many times. Ive got an appt with the think referrals team next week so i hope they can help. And also well done for getting through the art class, i dont mean to sound patronising at all and don't mean it that way, i just know how it can be hard to do these things but really glad you are in a better place with it now.

@WhatALearningCurve hope today goes well. I get teary at the thought of going back to work too.

melissa112 · 04/07/2019 12:49

I think we have reached the dreaded 4 month sleep regression... he is 4 months next week and the night before last he woke about 4ish and took ages to go back to sleep. Last night he woke at 2:50am and even though he settled off to sleep after a while he just kept waking throughout the night every half hour or so. He wasn't crying or anything, just lying there eating his feet and banging his arms around but being so noisy! We had gone a few weeks of him sleeping 7:30pm-6:30am with one dream feed at 10:30pm and he had just started sleeping til 7am 😔 hope this is just a short phase!

kee80 · 04/07/2019 14:49

@BadBadBeans I would really love to work from home but with working in a school I've no chance of that. With ds I didn't go back to work till he was 2 so felt fine but with little one she will be about 10 months when I go back and I'm dreading leaving her so much already.

@melissa112 I ended up getting a gro egg not sure which it is but think it was o my about £18. Can't believe how warm my bedroom is, since getting it the bedroom hasn't gone below 21!
My little one is 4 months next Tuesday and for the past few nights she's been waking around 4-5am, not crying just fidgeting. I've laid her next to me and she's gone back till I wake her around 7.30.

Has anyone's little one started to scream at people? Yesterday we saw my mum and she's screamed hysterically and today we went to my dads and was same again. It took me about 20 mins to calm her down then she eventually fell asleep. She sees them once every week and she's never been like that before, she was literally scream like she was in pain and absolutely heartbroken. Not sure if it was a mixture of the heat and tiredness just really hope this is not the start of things to come!

melissa112 · 04/07/2019 14:58

@kee80 tell me about it, it was 24 degrees when we took him up last night and slowly went down to around 21.5 through the night so he's just been in a short sleeve vest and 1 tog. The other day it went up to 26 and I was panicking a bit.

I remember my friend's baby going through a phase of crying at people she didn't see literally every day but can't remember what age she was..something to do with a development leap where they now realise that you are mummy and other people aren't?

kee80 · 04/07/2019 15:08

@melissa112 I panicked too. I've been putting her in a shortsleeved vest and 1 tog bag. When she's been waking around 5 I've felt her and her arms and hands feel quite cold, not sure if that's the reason she's waking but the temp doesn't drop to below 21 so who knows!

melissa112 · 04/07/2019 15:29

@kee80 I've thought that about his arms too but when I've felt his chest or the back of his neck he does feel warm so I'm not sure. As he's not crying I'm not sure if he's cold as he's been in the short sleeved for a few weeks with the weather but only now waking up and being way too busy for just before 3am 🤣

Jenfur · 05/07/2019 11:25

@cardboard33 Thanks, I don't know whether to do a bottle at the same time each day or different times and hope it doesn't affect my supply too much. The thrush appears to have gone (seriously don't know how) so I don't feel quite so upset about breastfeeding now anyway. He has some feeds where he latches and feeds for probably 10 minutes then comes off by himself satisfied. Then he has other feeds where he latches for a few minutes, unlatches, does another minute, unlatches and so on until I give up because he's not really feeding. I don't know if he's struggling to get milk or if he has enough in the first few minutes that he's just sort of comforting himself after that. It stresses me out a bit because I feel like I should know this by now.

@melissa112 Thanks for the info about the growth spurt. He was back to normal yesterday then today has been super clingy and screaming which is very unlike him. Hope this doesn't last too long!

kee80 · 05/07/2019 12:47

@Jenfur my little one is 15wks and think she's having a growth spurt.
Yesterday she was having a screaming fit whilst at my dads then slept for a good 2 hours which isn't like her and today she woke at 5.30 (usually about 7.30) slept for 3 hours at 7am and is now sleeping again which isn't like her

Jenfur · 05/07/2019 13:00

@kee80 you have my sympathies, it's not fun so far. I'm also wondering about teeth - he's been drooly and chewy for a while but today's nappies are extra unpleasant and Im wondering if the screaming is pain 😟

kee80 · 05/07/2019 13:14

@Jenfur she's been the same with the drooling and co start chewing on her hands and whatever else is in reach. Poor baby have you tried him with some calpol see if that helps?

kee80 · 05/07/2019 13:15

Typo *constant not co start

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 05/07/2019 16:36

I hate to break it to you all who have currently got a screaming baby. At approx 14 weeks old they have a mental development leap which lasts a month. My LB is also screaming, I opened the wonder weeks app and was met with "This leap will end in 30 days".... 😫😭
He's still dodging milk and I'm really worried with this heat ☹️ nothing I do seems to help with the screaming and I can't encourage him to eat. It's getting bloody difficult.

TheWanderlust · 06/07/2019 07:03

Checking in! Very late to the party after baby brain forgot my password Confused

Hope everyone's doing well and surviving the 4m sleep regression / leap 4 if it has hit already... if not I'm sorry you've got it all to come 😴

WhatALearningCurve · 06/07/2019 17:14

Little man has just rolled over! Left him playing on his mat when I went to the toilet and when I came back he was happy as Larry on his front!

Sheeni · 06/07/2019 17:41

@whatalearningcurve Amazing! We're doing tummy to back only so far and not sure how we'll ever achieve back to tummy, considering he's almost on his back, but we'll see.

We've been off Omeprazole and back on Ranitidine last couple of days, waiting for hospital appointment next week, as O was giving him tummy ache and constipation and wasn't even working that well.
But we've made some progress with the bottle! He only ever drinks 50ml or so, but it's something!

WhatALearningCurve · 06/07/2019 17:42

@Sheeni ha he can't roll himself back over. I think my child is wired the wrong way round 😂

melissa112 · 06/07/2019 18:08

Yeh i also read that this leap lasts til 19.5 weeks ha. George is 17 weeks tomorrow and still showing some signs that he's going through something but not as bad as the 14 week mark. I cant actually believe its been nearly 3 weeks since i posted asking if anyone else was going through something similar at 14 weeks. Where is the time going!

@TheWanderlust welcome back! I think we're going through the sleep regression but cant be sure. He definitely wakes now during the night whereas before he did 7-7 but he does drop back off if we hold his hand and doesn't fuss really.

@WhatALearningCurve that's amazing! We've just managed to roll front to back this week but he hates tummy time so can't see him trying the other way round in a hurry! My friends baby is 5 months and rolled back to front first too, looks like yours has gone straight for the harder version 🤣

@Sheeni glad you are making some progress with the bottle 😊

TheWanderlust · 06/07/2019 18:21

We're celebrating beings 20 weeks old today by rolling back to front for the first time,, no sign of going the other way as we the tummy time so much she rarely spends any time on her tummy before screaming to be turned over 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sheeni · 06/07/2019 20:49

We had our first back to tummy today as well! Or more like side to tummy, as he was lying on his side, getting his back moisturised after the bath and decided to go for it.
And I thought it won't ever happen!

He's such an impatient baby, I can see he already wants to know everything - sitting, standing, walking. When he's on his tummy, he's getting frustrated, as he's trying to crawl, but a. doesn't know how and b. doesn't have the muscles for it yet.

He's also trying to sing along, I think? When I'm singing incey wincey spider or row, row, row your boat, our two favourite tunes, he's blabbering and humming at me. No tune yet, mind you, but it's so funny still! Anyone else got this?

melissa112 · 06/07/2019 21:41

@TheWanderlust ha same here, although at his baby class he does tummy time as though he absolutely loves it and shows off. Get him home and he flaps making cranky noises. He can do it, just doesn't want to unless there is something clearly more interesting than yours truly, such as lots of other babies to look at!

@Sheeni oh wow that's great that he has rolled the other way, especially after you thinking he wouldn't yet! Hope my LO does soon!

We have the same with his getting frustrated. He tried to crawl on his tummy towards a cushion we had yesterday. Managed to push himself slightly forwards with his feet but was so frustrated and started getting cranky. He just has to be sat up and if you put your hands near him when he is lying down he'll grab them and pull himself into a sit. I think it'll be hard when they are getting closer to crawling and can't work out what to do and just rock back and forward. He also makes noises when i sing, like a mmmmmm noise. So cute! We went to my friends 2 yo party today and there was a baby there who sat up alone just before 5 months which i think is quite early. George can sit up on the sofa well and its so weird to think it might not be long before he is sat on the floor playing, or in a high chair being fed! There was an 8 week old baby there who looked so small!

Sheeni · 07/07/2019 04:31

@melissa112 There's a little girl in our sensory class and she's roughly 5 months and standing (with a bit of support). She was sitting in 4 months. I think it's way too early. But she seems like a pretty strong baby. I guess they do all develop differently!

melissa112 · 07/07/2019 07:59

@Sheeni wow that is early! Yeh i think theres such a huge window for being able to sit, crawl etc isnt there. We've only just got him to tolerate tummy time! How often does everyone do tummy time? We do try throughout the day but its very hit and miss and we give up as soon as he cries or whinges.

kee80 · 07/07/2019 08:18

My little one started rolling from back to front about a week ago, she can only roll to the left though haha.
@melissa112 she doesn't really like tummy time, she tends to be sick if I let her do it for long. I do it probably a couple of times a day for a couple of minutes, she gets frustrated. She does roll into her tummy though quite a few times through the day
