Thanks everyone for the advice. I rang 111 and they told me to book a doctors appointment once the bank holiday is over. But that it sounds like the doctor forgot to cut the wires. I'm so pissed off with our doctors at the moment, first they wouldn't give me an appointment to check is my c section wound was infected just told me to wait and see if it gets worse, then they couldn't get G in for his 8 week jabs until he's nearly 12 weeks and now this. I took G for his 6 week appointment and mentioned that he's got a lump behind his ear, he just said mmm... probably just a cyst. Come back if it gets any bigger. I've completely lost trust in them so going to change surgeries. But that's now made me worry about G's "cyst".

WhatALearningCurve · 26/05/2019 19:28

@Jenlou1992 I was at a festival yesterday so today I've been a little delicate ha - been to see my mum and went to the supermarket today, DP is in work till 10ish so I've just put little man to bed and I'm going to tidy the house then get an early night.

Tomorrow I'm going to go to Mothercare and look at buggies suitable for before 6 months because I need one I can take on holiday this summer.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 26/05/2019 19:45

@WhatALearningCurve not sure how much you want to spend on a buggy but Argos have got good deals on at the moment. They've got decent looking cuggl ones that are suitable from birth for £40. For that price it wouldn't matter if the baggage handlers broke it! (If you're flying that is). Not sure how good they'll be but maybe worth a look. 😊

Is anyone else's LOs showing teething signs? George is 8.5 weeks and has been very unsettled for the last few days and is very dribbly, red cheeked and keeps gnawing on his fists. Seems a bit early though?

WhatALearningCurve · 26/05/2019 19:59

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever yeah I've been looking at them but I don't like the fact I can't see it before I buy to push around etc.

I agree with the teething signs. I know it seems early but I think there's a difference between teething and actually cutting a tooth

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 26/05/2019 20:25

@WhatALearningCurve yeah that is the problem and it's probably more hassle than it's worth buying it, building it up and then returning it!
That's true on the cutting teeth front. I just hope we haven't got months of this until they finally emerge! 😂

Angelmiracle · 27/05/2019 01:17

@BadBadBeans thank you! Those leggings are beautiful I thought you were going to tell us where to buy some 😉 I thought having a DS and DD that would be us done but can't help but think there could be a DC3?! Maybe it's just these current mushy hormones 😂

Sucking hands can be a development sign and DD has done it a lot from birth to soothe herself. DS sucked his at 8 weeks for the first which I put down to teething however was another 12 weeks before his first tooth appeared.

Bought one of those inkless foot/handprint kits off eBay and finally got DH to help me do DDs prints before she's any bigger! It's a good job.

DS has midterm this week...I don't know what I'm going to do all week to entertain him with DH working. This will throw DD's and my routine off 🤔

So poor baby had his jabs on Tuesday, caught thrush, is going through a growth spurt or leap and has an awful cough.

On the plus side, he slept from 11pm Saturday night to 7am. Up until now we've had one night where he slept 5 hours and otherwise the best we've been getting is 3 or 4 hours. On another downside, I have the cold and was more flu like Saturday night (hot and cold, achy all over) and couldn't sleep. Got less than 3 hours I think.

But my amazing baby slept again last night from about 10:30 to 8am!! Aside from my eldest complaining that his duvet had come off twice during the night, I easily got the most sleep I've had since probably the start of my pregnancy.

Boobs are feeling it though!!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 29/05/2019 08:02

@Jenfur oh ☹️it's awful when they're unsettled isn't it! Hope baby's feeling better now. Wow! That is a good stretch. Just out of curiosity... what counts as sleeping through the night? George slept from 8.45-6.15 this morning

Jenfur · 29/05/2019 08:44

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever He's pretty fine in himself now, thanks, just has the occasional cough. I'm feeling sorry for myself today because I'm so tired and still feeling rough myself so keep crying. I didn't get the baby blues this time around because I feel like I've been on a total high since having DS2 so should probably count my blessings that it's taken until now to upset me. Got DS1 home with us this afternoon though so dreading the exhaustion already.

I don't know if there's a set number for sleeping through the night - I would count it personally from maybe 5:30 or 6 because (if I wasn't so tired) I know I could get up at that time and start my day. Congrats on your LOs long sleep! Mine has gone back to waking once or twice as night after his 2 night stints.

Angelmiracle · 29/05/2019 14:07

@Jenfur I empathise with the engorged boobs but appreciate the sleep nonetheless it's 6.5yr old DS that's the bad sleeper in our house 😫 However managed to get him sleeping to 9.20am this morning woohoo lol.

DDs jabs are tomorrow hope they don't upset her sleeping Confused

OP posts:
AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 29/05/2019 16:45

@Angelmiracle my DS has got his jabs tomorrow too and I'm hoping the same thing. We've definitely dropped down to just 1 feed per night so im hoping they don't cause him to regress!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 29/05/2019 16:46

@Jenfur oh ☹️ is there no one that can look after the children whilst you have a nap?

Angelmiracle · 29/05/2019 18:10

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever good luck I'm not looking forward to it 🙈 poor babies

@Angelmiracle Good luck to you too! Me neither! ☹️

Does anyone else's baby kick and thrash their legs around when they're asleep? Mine is 12 weeks and has recently started doing this so I can't tell if he's awake or asleep, or if he's hungry/wanting changing or just happy making a noise. It's driving my husband mad as it's always around the 3 hour mark which makes me wonder if it is hunger, so after awhile I feed him to stop him from doing it but I also don't want to create an expectation that he will get food every time he does it and then he will do it more. It also feels like he's trying to get a fart out as once he farts he will be relatively quiet for a few mins and then it starts again until the next one.

He's always been ridiculously active and has never been particularly happy on his back as much prefers being upright or on his front so I do wonder if this is just how it will be until he can roll over, or is it something more like a build up of gas... But this theory isn't much relief for my husband who wants me to "solve it" so he can get back to sleep!

WhatALearningCurve · 30/05/2019 03:15

@cardboard33 sat here watching my little one do that as I type ha. I hadn't thought about the wanting to roll over but I agree because there's something about it that's different to when he has had. I can't explain what - but it is different!

This time was over five hours since his last feed so I fed him straight away but usually I try dummy and shushing etc first to see how that helps and if it doesn't then I feed him

melissa112 · 30/05/2019 09:43

@BadBadBeans those leggings are amazing, also had no idea they were homemade, you're very talented! Glad the nipple cups have helped, you must feel so much better! Thanks for the tummy time advice, I'm doing as you suggested and scooping him up when hes upset and trying again later. He seems ok on his tummy time toy for a minute or two depending on his mood and surprised me by doing little pressup type things on his daddy's chest so obviously just doesn't like the floor part of it yet.

@cardboard33 think youre onto something with it being to do with rolling over. George kept doing it, pulling his legs up quickly then pushing them flat again and managed to roll onto his side, now he knows how to do it he's always doing it but hasn't worked out how to go the whole way over. Its not when he's asleep though but sounds similar.

@Angelmiracle and @AssumeItWasSomethingClever good luck with the jabs today, hope both babies are ok

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever hope you manage to get some answers about the pain from the coil, that doesn't sound right. Could you get a second opinion on the cyst from another doctor at that surgery if you are worried just to put your mind at ease?

@Jenfur hope you're feeling better now after your cold and glad your little one seems better in himself, that sounds really rough with the thrush, jabs and leap all hitting at once Sad

I'm starting to feel more confident with getting George out and about now but still avoiding shopping alone with him as he is so unsettled in the pram after ten mins no matter where we are. We took him to a little sensory room yesterday as DP was off work and he was proper nosying at all the other babies 🤣 we start baby massage next week and baby sensory on 21st June and really think it will do me and him some good, moreso me probably to help with my confidence. Although its amazing to see how well he is doing, i was a little sad yesterday at how fast the time has gone. I was wondering why my back was so sore when i was in bed each night and realised its because he's not a newborn anymore and carrying him round on me all day when he wont settle is putting pressure on my back. Saw a much younger baby yesterday and made me realise how quickly he's grown!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 30/05/2019 13:04

@cardboard33 my LB does that too. It's always been when he's trying to fart/poo (done it since he was born). But now he's started doing it and ends up shuffling himself up the top of his crib. I hadn't thought it was him trying to roll. He's a lot more comfortable on his front/side so that would make sense!

@melissa112 We've changed doctors now because of it so we're booked in for a new patient check up. Going to mention the coil then. I rang 111 and they suggested giving it a few days to settle down as the wires can tuck themselves away and become less hard as time goes on. If not, then book myself in at the new GP to get them trimmed. It's just a bit of a ball ache! 😂

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 30/05/2019 13:04

Posted too soon. The whole reason I got the coil was so I could have it done and then forget about it for 5 years!

SoBoredOfWaiting · 31/05/2019 10:14

Hi all!

@BadBadBeans those leggings are amazing!

@melissa112 hope you enjoy baby massage! I am starting a course on Monday with ds 😊

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Any tips for getting your baby to sleep?! My ds is now 11 weeks and has had a major sleep regression. He is currently waking up every 45 mins - 2 hours, and then takes ages to go back down. I am so tired and completely out of energy. He is ebf, and I am wondering if this is a factor?

Angelmiracle · 31/05/2019 10:55

@SoBoredOfWaiting maybe it's a growth spurt and he's trying to increase the milk supply? Does he cluster feed during the day or evening before bed?

My cousin introduced formula for the final feed before bed with her DS as he was waking a lot and it made no difference to his sleep much to her bewilderment Confused

OP posts:
SoBoredOfWaiting · 31/05/2019 11:23

@Angelmiracle no cluster feeding at the moment! I feel like I am constantly blaming his sleep on a growth spurt but reality is it is constantly bad ☹️
Interesting about the formula, it may be worth a try!

cardboard33 · 31/05/2019 11:52

Glad to hear that others have got similar issues with baby thrashing their legs around. We woke up a few weeks ago (maybe week 9?) and he'd got himself stuck on his side, but he hasn't done that since. He had reflux when he was born and we thought he'd grown out of it but it now seems to be back as he definitely sleeps better once we've got a burp or really big fart out of him... I thought it was supposed to get easier once you got out of the 4th trimester!!

@soboredofwaiting our baby is nearly 13 weeks and his sleep has definitely gone downhill in the last week or so. Not to the extent of waking every 45 mins but he won't sleep for longer than 2.5-3 hours at the moment, whereas he was doing about 4.5 hours from week 6-10. We also give formula for the final feed before bed but we're trying to get him to sleep earlier (he used to go to bed when we went to bed, whereas now we get him down for about 9:30pm) so we're now considering whether to do breast at that point then formula when he first wakes up, which is now around midnight/1am.

For those doing baby massage - I did a 4 week course and found it really beneficial as you learn how to get burps/farts/poos out effectively and it honestly does give results on the poo front. Mine also covered facials so I've been using that when he has a blocked nose (aka constantly) ... would highly recommend! It was a children's centre one, so just a "recommended donation" of a couple of pounds for each session.

@melissa112 we're also doing baby sensory this term. Our class is up to 6 months and it's amazing/scary how much the babies can do who are 5-6 months as they look so big even though we are at 3 months! We started going a few weeks ago when he was about 8 weeks and there's some stuff where I think he's a little too young but then other stuff he really enjoys, like the music and wafting his face with feathers. We go ultimately for me though as I need to leave the house every day otherwise I'd go crazy. It's really easy to talk to others as you generally start talking about your babies, how old they are etc and then I usually ask for their numbers as then we can meet up outside of the sessions and what's app in the middle of the night Grin My husband also came with me when he had a day off once - that's definitely worthwhile as then it made him feel more involved and in the class we go to there's normally at least 1 baby with 2 carers there.

I've got a reputation in my NCT group for always befriending people wherever I go so I've now got a "* mum's club" whats app group where I add everyone in so then they can all expand their mum networks/I then don't have to message everyone individually to find someone to hang out with... it's like this thread but real life. Anyone else like that... or is it just me?

KarBB · 31/05/2019 19:55

@SoBoredOfWaiting we had 3 days of sleep regression at 12 weeks and then a good night last night. We moved him into a bigger cot last night as thought banging his arms on the crib might be waking him up and it seemed to work. We shall see if it lasts - I was just getting used to a bit of sleep!

ballanj · 02/06/2019 22:55

Hi all,

Haven't had a chance this week to catch up on the thread but hope you're all doing okay. I guess our babies are keeping us very busy!

I'm having a concern with my period at the moment. Had a period 6-7 weeks after little one was born which was as expected and nothing to write home about. However my next period which would have been a more 'complete' cycle I'm guessing has been non stop. I'm on day 12 tomorrow and still bleeding. It's not heavy now but there doesn't seem to be any let up. It was incredibly heavy at first to the point where I was leaking through tampons and my underwear AND clothes which led to more than one highly embarrassing incident. I'm going to make an appointment with the GP as this length of time is not normal whatsoever. I've started back on the pill and hoping that will kick in soon and my next period goes back to normal but for now I just want to stop bleeding! I feel not too bad in myself but pretty sure any extra tiredness might be resulting from it. Any advice?!
