Do your babies wiggle a lot in their sleep? Baby A seems to be asleep but thrashes her arms and legs about as well as moving her head from side to side. I check on her but her eyes are always closed. She settles down for a few minutes and then starts wriggling again. It’s driving me crazy as I can’t sleep because of it!?!

She goes down silently but starts wriggling after a few hours! 😡 x

Yakadee · 30/05/2019 09:39

@bubblybrit - I don't hear Emma much (although she fidgets before she's in a deep sleep) but she must do it a lot as she's usually in a totally different place in the morning to where I put her! X

bubblybrit · 30/05/2019 10:24

@Yakadee. I’m such a light sleeper that I hear everything! So frustrating but I don’t feel comfortable putting her in her own room yet x

Notquiteagandt · 30/05/2019 11:25

Anyone moved onto size 3 nappies yet? Any reccomendations.

We moved up last night with distaterous results.

Toy in horrific 4month sleep regression. Last thing I want is when she finally sleeps waking up soaked through.

The size 3 seems a rediculous jump from 2 so they are swimming on her 😭

sunday38 · 30/05/2019 11:54

bubbly Ro is a fidgity sleeper when his reflux flares up. He keeps ending up sideways in his crib at the moment! I'm also a light sleeper and although he usually sleeps through until 6am he wakes me up several times with his twitching

Notagain currently using size 2 in the day and 3s at nighttime but will switch to 3s once I've finished the last pack of 2s. I've had no problems with Aldi. And Ro is not a big baby, just under 50th centile.

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/05/2019 13:27

DS2 goes through phases of being a noisy sleeper sometimes. He currently is pretty noisy and moves a lot, sounded like he was lifting his legs and slamming them down in his Snuz Pod last night! DH is so keen for him to go in his own room (DS1 was in his own room at 12 weeks) as we're also definitely disturbing him when we come to bed, but I'm so not ready yet. Will probably do it at the end of June when he'll be 4 months old.

I never know what to look for with teething signs to be honest, except for the obvious bright red cheeks! DS2 is really dribbly and has been for weeks, and also chews on his hands etc a lot (although still turns his nose up at dummies!) but I know they can just be developmental signs. I try not to assume everything is teething as it can feel like a bloody long wait til that first tooth pops otherwise! DS1 was definitely teething on and off from 6 months but he didn't cut his first tooth til 8 months. I didn't find the powders worked with him but I'll try them again with DS2. DS1 also had an amber anklet which I'll dig out when the time comes!

Yakadee · 30/05/2019 15:20

@Notquiteagandt - we're in size 4 and have been for about a month! We like sainsburys though x

Celebelly · 30/05/2019 16:28

We've just switched to reusable nappies and they are amazing! No leaks!

Anyone else get really frustrated by the lack of parent&child spaces?! I NEVER seem to be able to get one, so have to find a space on the end of a row so that I'll be able to open the door wide enough to get baby out! Annoyingly there always seems to be hordes of empty disabled spaces, I'm considering asking the retail park management if it would be acceptable to use one if there is no free parent&child space. Although I'd find it quite embarrassing to do so!

babyp160 · 30/05/2019 18:14

@detachablehoof this drive and mad. Also to add to your vent. Super markets..... wonderful they have trolleys you can put the car seat on. However trolleys the furthest away point from mother and child and carrying a 17lb baby with a 4lb car seat 🤪

Yakadee · 30/05/2019 19:12

@babyp160 - is this sainsburys? I have the exact same issue. Why aren't they next to the kid spaces??

Also, don't get me started on kids spaces! I've dobbed quite a few people in now. I wish they'd actually enforce the fines they say people will get! X

mummymummymummummum · 30/05/2019 19:32

I shouted at a family who were heading into Sainsbury's from a P&C space once! The kids were teenagers! I shouted "you've forgotten your baby". They weren't sufficiently shamed 😡

The trolleys with baby seats are right next to the P&C spaces. All right outside the doors to the shop.

I'd actually rather that the spaces were at the back of the car park. They'd probably be abused less if they were. I need the extra width not a shorter walk!

detachablehoof · 30/05/2019 20:01

Yes agree it would be better if the spaces were further away! Ha and yes I always ferociously glare at people with kids who are borderline too large to need the extra width for their car doors 😂

Also the car seat trolleys in Sainsbury's are so high that you can't see where you're going!

DeliberatelyGinger · 30/05/2019 20:31

I think the p&c spaces are close so parents with smallish mobile children don't have to worry about crossing so many lanes. Could maybe do a split; some by the doors and some further away.

Yakadee · 30/05/2019 21:22

@detachablehoof - I know! I have to take the cloth hood down on the car seat so I can see lol x

Lookingforadvice123 · 30/05/2019 21:44

Ooh really celebelly? We're having leaks every bight as DS2 sleeps through and the disposables just can't contain the pee! Tempted to get a cloth just for night time. Which brand do you have?

Celebelly · 30/05/2019 21:50

I use Bambino Mios all in ones with a couple of boosters in for overnight and have no problems. If your baby is on the skinnier side, the leg holes might be a bit big though (my baby is a chunk!). Totsbots do a really absorbent nappy specifically for overnight, the Bamboozle, which you use with a wrap over the top. It holds like 750ml of pee or something crazy! It takes ages to dry, though, so you'd probably want a few so you can rotate them. So far we've been fine just with the Bambino Mios, though, and the boosters even though they're not strictly designed for overnight usage. For cheaper options, Littlez and Bloomz pocket nappies are only a fiver or something and you can stick some boosters in there to make them more absorbent. It'll give him a big bottom but they're nice and soft inside.

My MH nurse has persuaded me to attend a baby yoga group at the hospital. I'm not hugely keen on the whole idea but have agreed I'll go for one session and if I like it I'll carry on. I'm not sure I even know what adult yoga is... what on earth is baby yoga?! 😄 I have no idea what to wear or what to take or what to expect!

(amazing provision though - the NHS is amazing 😊)

Another thick question - those of you who have done baby swimming... do you book lessons or do you just go with your LO? Wondering about giving it a go but literally have no idea what to do!

Celebelly · 30/05/2019 22:05

There's a baby yoga class near us. You basically do some moves on your own if your baby is settled and then do some things with them, even using them as weights :D

We're starting lessons with Turtle Tots next month but it is expensive (£140 for a block). There's Water Babies too, which I think is even more pricey. Our local council do swimming lessons from three months onwards that are much cheaper (£5.50 a session here). DP and I took baby E swimming a couple of weeks ago - we only spent about 10-15 mins in the pool and we just moved her around in the water slightly, blew bubbles at her, passed her between us, etc. Just stuff to get her comfortable with being in the water, and we made sure to get out while she was still happy. You'll ideally want somewhere with a toddler pool or a studio pool that is warmer than main pools, or you can get wetsuits to keep them warm. I'd recommend going with your DH or someone else to help if you can for the first time - our pool has family changing rooms so we could all be in there at once and I think I would have got quite flustered without him helping out. I'll have to manage solo when we start lessons, but I feel a bit more confident having gone before!

I think baby yoga class sounds like a great idea detachable! With it being an activity you can talk to other people as much or as little as you feel like. Even if yoga isn't your sort of thing (not mine, I have awful balance!) it's good to get out and have somewhere to be. I'd wear comfortable joggers/leggings and loose top and take a towel or blanket, they'll probably provide a yoga mat. With DC1 l just went to the local pool during a midweek session, that way we weren't tied into expensive lessons if he was ill or we'd had a bad night.

Notquiteagandt · 31/05/2019 13:01

We swim. We just do payg things at the leisure centre. Still not at stage can prebook termly things yet. So drop in is ideal.

We do aqua tots which is in the pool with a swimming instructor who teaches you things to get baby comfortable in water.

We also do sing song swimming which is a rhyme time type thing in the water which you splash baby and do actions etc.

Id reccomend both. Worth a look at doing something like that before commiting to a big block booking.

We did a few baby yoga classes. It was a combo of stretches, meditation, relaxation and baby massage. I enjoyed it. It was chilled.

detachablehoof · 31/05/2019 13:32

Thanks for the tips all, starting to look forward to the yoga. And think I'll drop in at my local leisure centre to see what the pool changing facilities / swim sessions are like.

lanalawr · 31/05/2019 19:11

I've started using reusable nappies too and haven't had a leak yet (except from toddler dd when we tried a friend's - I think I underestimated how much she weed at night). I'm sure we'll get a leak at some point but it's stopped the poo leaks we were getting in disposables.

We do water babies for swimming but there'd be nothing to stop you just going to the leisure centre to try it. I'd recommend a wetsuit to keep baby warm and try to keep her body in the water to conserve heat. Water babies near us do taster sessions so that's also an option.

Yakadee · 01/06/2019 15:46

Going out for tea tonight, kid free (and husband free as he's with them - it's at 6pm so bad time) for my mum's 60th birthday. I'm quite excited about eating in my own time / peace!

sunday38 · 01/06/2019 19:10

Living the dream yakadee enjoy! We took both our boys to a wedding over the bank holiday, bad idea, baby was easy but couldn't relax with the toddler on the loose!

I've got some reusable nappies in the loft that we tried with DS1 but no chance I'm putting them on this one! Still having awful poos due to the milk protein allergy so probably going to have to try another type of prescription formula.
