@Notquiteagandt - only 14 weeks here so all to come for us! X

Notquiteagandt · 12/05/2019 16:32

@Yakadee 14weeks here too. We are usually about 3 or 4 days earlier than app says. Tbf its just alot cluster feeding and broken sleep.

But we are finally at 9lb13 so back on the percentile chart so she can cluster feed all she wants as its paying off 😬 a proper growth spurt.

DeliberatelyGinger · 12/05/2019 21:46

What's the weirdest thing you've bounced/rocked instead of your baby? For me it's bouncing an Easter egg in its box

Yakadee · 12/05/2019 21:55

@Notquiteagandt - we have hv on weds so curious to see what this little chunk weighs now! She was 13.5lbs last time so who knows!

@DeliberatelyGinger - I often just rock nothing. I sway all the time when I'm just on my own! Haha x

Celebelly · 12/05/2019 22:26

Baby E got weighed on Thu and she was 13lb 7! She's gone from bang on 50th percentile to between 50 and 75th. Little chunk!

I'm really cross with ML: she never kisses me when she has a cold sore but didn't think twice about kissing LO. WTF?

bubblybrit · 13/05/2019 20:35

For those of you with experience of teething....I’ve tried a lot of things over the last two weeks with varying degrees of success (teething powders - ok, teething ring - dd hates with a passion, dummy - ok but she only takes dummy every so often, wet cloth in fridge - dd rejects this).

I’ve just ordered some bonjela which I will pick up tomorrow so hopefully that works better.

My concern is that when she is really distressed I’ve been giving her calpol. This seems to do the trick and she settles really quickly and is much happier in general. She has been given 3 doses today (the max is 4 in a 24 hour period) as she has been suffering really badly and screamed that much that it caused her to choke. I’m just worried about giving her calpol too frequently??

Yakadee · 13/05/2019 22:54

@bubblybrit - we used anbesol liquid for my son and it worked well. I get your concern over calpol, I always stick to the guidelines too.

Teething sucks! 👎

sunday38 · 14/05/2019 04:09

I get why you are worried about Calpol but if it works and you are sticking to dosage it's fine for a few days. Ibuprofen is supposed to be better for teething but I found Calpol and bonjela best for DC1. They've changed the ingredients in bonjela since last year so I need to try and which ones have local anaesthetic in still.

Teething here too Sad And reflux problems as well. He's getting more and more reluctant to feed and often only taking 4 oz at a time now, down from 6/7oz.

bubblybrit · 14/05/2019 04:18

@Yakadee. Thanks. I’ll add that to my list....willing to try anything!

@sunday38. These teething symptoms started 2 weeks ago but I’ve only given calpol today as a last resort as nothing else seems to take the edge off. She has her jabs tomorrow so will speak to the GP then. Teething and reflux are horrible. Baby A has mild silent reflux. Carobel is enough to help her thankfully although she is definitely taking less milk per feed. Was previously 5 bottles at 5-6oz but we are down to 4oz as well (she does sometimes take 6 feeds though so I guess that kinda makes up for it!)

Yakadee · 14/05/2019 05:38

Emma has been sleeping great, but the last few days she's been waking herself up as she's been knocking her arm / head on the cot bars. This isn't her big cot as that's in her room, it's a smaller one as she's grown / growing out of her moses basket.

Any tips on how to stop her from waking? Obviously you're not supposed to use bumpers etc. She's only 15 weeks so I'm not ready to put her in her proper cot (as it's in her room) x

lanalawr · 14/05/2019 08:15

I'd second anbesol liquid. I tested on my tongue with dd and very quickly couldn't feel the end of it. Otherwise Nelsons or Ashton and Parsons powder isn't too bad. For dd we usually start with powder, then offer anbesol with calpol as a last resort. Only one tooth left for her though - hooray!

sunday38 · 14/05/2019 10:34

Lots of anbesol recommendations, I'll have to give that a try! Can you buy it off the shelf or do you have to ask the pharmacist for it? I think legislation for teething products changed at the start of the year so it might be different from when I had DS1?

It's so so hard with reflux babies to know what is upsetting them at any given moment bubbly and teething does make reflux worse because of the extra saliva. Jabs this week too and HV clinic so I feel like we are constantly at the doctors.

Yakadee something to stop the startle reflex perhaps? We use a rolled up cellular blanket either side but making sure it doesn't come above shoulders. They do it like this on our children's ward at the hospital although probably against safe sleeping rules.

Yakadee · 14/05/2019 12:59

@sunday38 - thanks, might give that a go x

lanalawr · 14/05/2019 15:03

@sunday38 anbesol is usually behind the counter at the pharmacy. They do a gel and a liquid but I think the liquid is more effective.

AmberRose17 · 14/05/2019 15:41

@yakadee I used Airwrap cot bumpers for my eldest when he was trying to stick limbs throughout his cot bars. They’re great as the fix with velcro and there are no ties.

Anyone else’s baby given up long sleeps during the day? Baby O used to nap for 90 mins or more (albeit in the sling mainly). Now we are managing some naps in the crib (hooray) but they seem to last a max of 35 minutes (boo).

detachablehoof · 14/05/2019 22:22

We're home!!! (after three weeks with my parents!)

mummymummymummummum · 14/05/2019 22:27

@detachablehoof Woohoo! Well done xx

sunday38 · 14/05/2019 22:33

Excellent news detachable ! Nothing better than home Brew

detachablehoof · 14/05/2019 22:36

SO nice to be back. Hopefully permanently 🤞🏻

Baby has been sleeping in her pram for the last three weeks but as of Saturday she's been in her own room. We have both slept much better as a result (although going to put her dummy in is a pain now I have to actually get out of bed to do it!). Hoping for a good night to get me off to a good start at home!

Yakadee · 15/05/2019 06:44

@AmberRose17 - we actually just moved her into her big cot but just put it in our room. She's got a cold now though so she still woke up but because of snuffling!

We have the health visitor today, curious to see how much this chunk weighs now!

@detachablehoof - hope you had a good night x

Yakadee · 15/05/2019 11:17

Emma weights 18lbs!! X

bubblybrit · 15/05/2019 13:22

@Yakadee. Oh whoa! That’s a good weight - they grow up so quickly! We had the health visitor on Monday and Anna weighed 11lbs at 13 weeks. She was just under 7lbs at birth but the HV said her weight wasn’t a problem. I still see her as huge though given how tiny she was when she was born.

mummymummymummummum · 15/05/2019 14:41

Anya weighed in at 9lb6 yesterday. She's close to crossing a third centile line, but has put on the required 15g per day over the last couple of weeks. Back to get her weighed again in a fortnight. In the meantime breast compressions, both sides every time and Ranitidine.

Yakadee · 15/05/2019 15:18

@bubblybrit - Emma is 15 weeks. It seems I have chunky babies. My son was even bigger and he's perfect now. It slowed down once he was mobile. The hv commented on how long she is and that's not worried so all good x
