I have heard tell that the first period can be pretty bad.

Off to a wedding today and it’s our first anniversary. Wish us luck!

kee80 · 05/05/2019 11:40

@Gronk27 have a lovely day and happy anniversary Thanks

kee80 · 05/05/2019 19:57

Does anyone else's baby have these little spots on their cheeks? Was wondering if it's baby acne

@kee80 looks quite similar to newborn rash. My little one had something similar. So long as the spots are fading when pressed (the tumbler test) I shouldn't worry too much. Have you used anything on baby that's different, any new bath stuff or washing powder etc? Just to rule that out.

kee80 · 05/05/2019 21:38

@ballanj I've done the tumbler test the rash does fade. No I've not used anything different.
Got the health visitor coming next week so will ask her. Thank you

Wineandchoccy · 05/05/2019 22:49

@kee80 dd has had spots similar to those I used breast milk on cotton wool on them no idea if it helped but they cleared up quickly

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 05/05/2019 23:29

@kee80 my LB had this on his forehead. Health visitor said it was baby acne. We didn't use anything on it and It cleared up on its own within a week or two. 😊

HidCat · 06/05/2019 08:02

@shiny888 sorry to hear you're having these thoughts. Hopefully it's just sleep deprivation but definitely get to a doc, just in case.

@Gronk27 hope you had a lovely anniversary!

WhatALearningCurve · 06/05/2019 09:45

Just wondering if anyone here was more organised than me in sending their child benefit application off? If so - how did you know when it had been received and processed? Is it just by money going in your account?

KarBB · 06/05/2019 10:07

@kee80 We had baby actually two and it looked a lot like that. We just use water and cotton wall and it cleared up after a few weeks.

KarBB · 06/05/2019 10:07

@kee80 That was meant to say baby acne too!

Gronk27 · 06/05/2019 10:08

@whatalearningcurve I had totally forgotten about the existence of child benefit!

Thanks re. Anniversary we had a nice day and Adela was golden at the wedding and we had a block of 4 hours and a block of 3 hours sleep last night. Still feel hungover despite not drinking.

@kee80 does look like baby acne/milk spots but like you say can show HV for reassurance.

MistakenHoliday · 06/05/2019 10:10

@kee80 we've got some spots like that too! HV said baby acne and we've got our 6 week check tomorrow so will co firm with the doctor. DD is fine otherwise and they dad when you press on them so I'm not panicked.

@Gronk27 happy anniversary!

@shiny888 have you spoken to your DP about how you're feeling? It does sound like it could be PND maybe. The pumping idea sounds like a plan!

kee80 · 06/05/2019 10:31

Thanks all regarding the spots.

Child benefit I did mine a couple of weeks ago. The money (back dated) went straight in to my account maybe a week later. I also received a letter co forming payment about the same time money went in

kee80 · 06/05/2019 10:31

Confirming not co firming!

cardboard33 · 06/05/2019 12:35

Glad baby was good at the wedding @gronk27 you must be so relieved! And happy anniversary too! Did you do anything to mark it?

@kee80 we've also had something that looks like your baby has, they seem to come and go and doctor wasn't worried at his 6 week check but you could double check with the HV?

@whatalearningcurve we sent the forms off even though we knew we weren't eligible as apparently it means he will get his NI card easier or something, but they wrote back with our "eligibility" really quickly (within a week) so I'd imagine it's pretty quick if you can get payments.

Gronk27 · 06/05/2019 17:56

@cardboard33 DH has given me a beautiful eternity ring. We had the wedding yesterday and a family lunch today.

So I have decided to no longer express milk and to worry about the 2am feed (in terms of breastfeeding) we are now formula fed with a little bit of BF when we feel like it. Feel very relieved. We’ve had such a rough start and I read a great article about BF guilt and how it’s not about me but what’s best for us, the whole family. We all need to catch a break and just enjoy it as much as we can.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 06/05/2019 22:15

For those who use formula, do you all actually throw away made bottles that haven't been drank within two hours?
We make bottles up as needed using a prep machine and throw away the milk after the two hours but we waste so much. He usually drinks about 3 ounces and then grazes over the next hour or so before falling asleep.
I was just wondering how stringent everyone is or if it's just very clever marketing on the formula companies part.

HidCat · 06/05/2019 22:27

@WhatALearningCurve we had a statement confirming child benefit through the post a couple of weeks after we sent everything off.
