@CaseofEllen I hope you are ok and I understand why you sent ds home you need to concentrate on getting you better x

@hermagsjesty I saw a great tip on the can I breastfeed in it fb group about wearing a vest top with a primary crop top over the top it makes a cheap one up one down nursing top and the vest tops can we worn with other things.

@BadBadBeans love that poem in fact I had forgotten how much I like poetry I may find some to read whilst on mat leave expand my mind and all that jazz Grin

DH has gone into the spare room he said I was snoring and sounding like a train that’s what happens when dd has a nice long sleep I fall soundly asleep Blush

Dd1 is in nursery today I’m going to sort dd2 clothes out we are fully in 0-3 now so need to pack away all the newborn. Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a brand new wardrobe every 9 weeks

shiny888 · 25/04/2019 06:31

Anyone else dealing with bad reflux? Poor little A is in so much pain and I just don't know what to do to help Confused

kee80 · 25/04/2019 07:56

Ladies who had a c-section did it feel like your pain returned?
It's been 5wks 2 days since I had mine and the past day my lower stomach as been quite sore/achey. Not enough to take pain killers. It's mostly when I'm getting up and walking around.
Also I was checking my scar yesterday and noticed a small home just a little bigger than the tip of a pen. When I lifted my stomach more to get a closer look some thick yellow puss cam out of the hole. I cleaned it then watery bloody liquid came out. Sorry TMI.
Not sure whether I should go to the doctor or just keep an eye on it. Anyone else had any problems?

kee80 · 25/04/2019 07:57

The pain I'm feeling is kind of like the pain I had the first few days after the section when moving around. Just not half as bad though.

cardboard33 · 25/04/2019 07:58

Sorry, been reading the thread but haven't replied for a few days. I've just been going through my pre pregnancy tops to work out which are baggy enough to bf in so have only got a few proper nursing ones. Is that an option for any of you?

@shiny888 we did initially but it seemed to get better from week 4/5 or so when he worked out how to wind himself better. Massaging also helps - can you go on a baby massage course? I spoke to the health visitor about it and she put me as priority for the next council run one step children's centres so starting that next week. We also found he slept much better (and still does) in an upright bouncy/rocky chair. I know they say don't put them in there but we figured if it was the only way he'd sleep then it was preferable. We also let him sleep upright on us a lot, and also got infacol which helped him on the burping front. You can also tilt the crib so it's not flat which helps them - this was the only way he'd lie in it at all and they had his cot at the hospital like that too. We've still got it like that and prop up his pram cot with books when he's in there around the house.

BadBadBeans · 25/04/2019 08:13

@kee80 to the GP pronto! That is definitely not okay and sounds like an infection. You need antibiotics to nip it in the bud.

CaseofEllen · 25/04/2019 08:22

Thanks @Wineandchoccy @BadBadBeans

@kee80 sounds like a small infection? I had one too, literally on one tiny bit of my scar and your symptoms sound similar. Went to GP and got antibiotics, all cleared up and basically healed now but there is a slight bump in the scar where the infection healed over so I would go GP as soon as you can to get sorted.

Sorry to see so many of you are struggling with pre pregnant body image. Trying not to worry about it and mostly don't have the time but not always possible! Most of my weight has come off, I'm back in some of my pre pregnancy wardrobe although haven't tried any jeans yet! Had a csection so have an overhang and stretch marks are fairly bad though, found it quite difficult to deal with my scar at first but gets easier everyday. Didn't think I'd wear any maternity clothes after birth but still loving those leggings Blush

kee80 · 25/04/2019 08:40

@BadBadBeans @CaseofEllen thanks I will give the docs a call now

MyMumDimensionJumps · 25/04/2019 08:50

I've not posted a while on here and thought I'd check in again to see how everyone is doing. I can't believe DS2 is 5 weeks already. He was awake most of the day yesterday and very fussy with it, so I can definitely identify with the wonder week first leap. He seems more alert too.

I see you're all feeling similar to me about post-partum body. I feel quite down about it too. I'm not really one of those celeb followers, so it's not really comparing myself to them that's getting me down, but the lack of suitable clothing in my wardrobe! I've bough a few cheap second hand things 2 sizes up from my prepregnancy size on eBay and none of them fit. I'm just big all over and a bit saggy at the bottom of my abdomen. I don't really want to buy any new clothes, but my weight
loss seems to have plateaued and I still have a stone and a half to lose. It's just not coming off despite trying to have a walk each day. My diet could be better, but the whole "you burn tonnes of calories while breastfeeding" isn't true for me, so it looks like I will have to start looking at that. Same happened with my first DC who was breastfed and I'm hoping it will start dropping off gradually at 3 months like it did then.

BadBadBeans Thanks for posting the poem. It does help put it all in perspective and I'll try not to let it bother me too much.

caseofEllen sorry to hear you're not well. Hope you recover soon.

Is anyone having issues with knee pain? I've been told you can still have relaxin in your system for a while.

Hermagsjesty · 25/04/2019 08:56

@caseofellen so sorry that you’re back in hospital. Wishing you a very speedy recovery.

@badbadbeans thanks for sharing the poem. I love Matt Haig.

In a way, I’m relieved not the only one having issues with post partum body image - although sorry other people are struggling. It didn’t help that at my 6wk check the GP went on at length about how lots of women struggle to lose the weight after DC3!

I’m taking DS to baby massage this morning - it’s the first class we’ve been to so I hope he’s awake/ enjoys it.

Sictransitgloria · 25/04/2019 09:02

Aww @caseofellen hope they sort you out. What I have learnt in these short weeks is that you absolutely must trust yourself - if you think DS in hospital is not a good idea then you are right! Don’t worry about what other people think, you are doing what’s right for you. Plus, you need to recover and sleep is the medicine. Get better soon.

@badbadbeans love Matt Haig. The Humans is one of my favourites.

Gave baby a dummy this morning. The last few days he has been so fractious and I loathe giving him a bottle all the time as he doesn’t graze he guzzles and ends up having 4oz every 2 hours, sometimes less! Thoughts on dummys? Feel like it is early but he has just fallen asleep on it 🙏

MyMumDimensionJumps · 25/04/2019 09:08

I would have liked to have got a dummy in to DS2 - he has a very high pitched, ear drum bursting cry that would make a thousand dogs howl! He's not taking it though. I don't see an issue with it as the baby is getting some comfort from it. I've just heard from a few people it can be hard to stop it once it's started.

Luckily DS2 has so far managed to have a bottle of expressed milk a few days ago, so might be able to have a life away from DS2 this time instead of taking him everywhere with me. I'm just not finding the time to express though.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 25/04/2019 09:34

@Sictransitgloria Before G was born I was adamant that he wouldn't have a dummy and DH said we'd give him one when he cries without reason. We got a few in a bottle starter pack so I kept them. Now he's here he often whinges for a bottle and then doesn't swallow the milk, just wants something to suck on which sometimes causes him to be sick. I'm now in favour of giving him one for times like that but DH is now very anti them. Funny how things change! I think they're a very handy tool as long as they're not given as a first resort. 😊

G was whinging for a feed last night so I gave him a bottle. Turned out he just wanted it to suck on (as above) but I was too distracted by the tv to notice he wasn't swallowing it. Bad mum award!! So he was massively sick everywhere. His breathing today is a bit wheezy and clogged so I'm wondering if he inhaled any ☹️
I woke up this morning smelling massively of sick and so does he so he must have thrown up a bit during the night feed. Poor boy, I'm not doing well am I!
Our shower has also decided to break... a month after our heating went costing us nearly £500. Why does there always have to be something!?! Hoping G stays asleep for half an hour or so today so I can have a bath and not smell of sick the whole day.

shiny888 · 25/04/2019 10:16

@cardboard33 thanks for the tips I will definitely try all of them and get on a massage course. Glad your little one managed to sort himself out. and is better now. A is 4 weeks tomorrow and never had a problem before but the last 2 nights have been awful for her poor thing!
Is a pillow wedge a good/safe thing to use under the cot mattress?
I would use the swing but she slumps down in it and isn't very comfy. Maybe il look into getting a different one!

@MyMumDimensionJumps
I'm also suffering with on and off knee pain just in my left knee and it's really painful. How long as yours been going on for?

cardboard33 · 25/04/2019 11:55

@shiny888 I mean literally having the whole cot on a tilt rather than just the mattress. Our next to me crib has an option to have it at slightly different levels like the hospital crib did and then we've just used books under the pram carry cot downstairs to emulate the same thing. I've read that just tilting the mattress isn't that safe but figured that the whole crib tilting thing is what they taught us in hospital so it must be reasonably safe? That said I also know they're not supposed to sleep in their bouncy chair things but ours is very padded/has a newborn insert and it's his favourite place to sleep and where he looks most comfortable so we've just gone with it.

Reg dummies - we gave him one around week 3 (he's 7.5 weeks now) and it has been really good for us as he was sucking continually on my breasts just for comfort and it's also helped him sleep better too.

Sheeni · 25/04/2019 17:30

@sictransitgloria I didn't want a dummy for my LO and ended up getting it on day 5 or so anyway. He didn't take to it then, but now takes it every now and then. He loves to just comfort suck, so we use it on those occasions, as I only have one nipple to give him and don't plan to let him ruin it for nothing Smile When DH went to buy the dummies, the shop assistant recommended taking several different types, as not all children take all dummies. So we have 4 different types and he only uses 2 of those as the other two seem to be too big for him and he almost chokes on them.
Also, it might be difficult to wean off the dummy sucking, but thumb sucking is apparently worse. From what I read the worst of comfort sucking is over around 12 weeks age and you could try weaning off then?

shiny888 · 25/04/2019 21:28

So we are spending the evening in hospital. Little A was struggling to breath and turned blue and was unresponsive.
I feel as though because I was so terrified before she was born of her becoming poorly that I've wished it upon her to be.
Iv never been so frightened in my life. Still currently running on the adrenaline of it all. Don't feel like il ever be able to sleep again after this il just be continuously watching her.
Does it get easier?!

Wineandchoccy · 25/04/2019 22:21

Oh no hope everything is ok have a virtual hug from me @shiny888

Gronk27 · 25/04/2019 22:28

@shiny888 so sorry to hear that. It’s nothing you’ve done xx

@caseofellen what a rough ride. Hope they sort you out. Xx

@sictransitgloria I didn’t want a dummy but gave on day 3 and TT considered glad I did x

I had yet another bleed last night and rang triage but asked to stay home and they agreed. Had a scan first thing. Some small amount of blood and clots left in there. Was looking like tablets or surgery but then doctor spoke to consultant and they want antibiotics to take their course and then see unless yet another bleed. So happy it doesn’t seem to serious but still a little bit in limbo. Not sure how I felt about general anaesthetic and surgery! But at least it would some finality?! Now I don’t know if or when it’s going to look like a murder scene from my waist down but hey I don’t feel too poorly or anything.

Gronk27 · 26/04/2019 07:22

Oh and my Nan on Monday ‘are you dieting’. No Nan, I’m not.

melissa112 · 26/04/2019 08:53

@Wineandchoccy thanks for the advice for pram shades, I'll have a look as would like something that doesn't heat the inside up but keeps them shaded for the summer. Funny how quick the weather changes, currently googling how to fit the rain cover on the pram

We also packed up all the 0-1 stuff yesterday. Are you keeping the smaller stuff? I don't really want to part with it but there's loads! And I may want another DC in a couple of years so thats my excuse!

@Gronk27 sorry to hear you've been struggling with bleeds, I'm glad it doesn't seem serious but can understand your concern about surgery. Fingers crossed the antibiotics clear it up for you.

@Jenfur hope your little one is ok now?

@Hermagsjesty we were meant to go for lunch on Tuesday but randomly decided to check when my car was due its MOT thinking it was the end of May but it was 1st May. Couldn't get it in before then with enough time for any fixes if needed so had to go on Tuesday and didnt have time for lunch which I'm gutted about as DP back in work. I definitely need to take a leaf out of your book and just do all the normal stuff with him in tow. DP still does all the supermarket runs as I'm not sure on the logisitics of pushing pram and trolly or carrying a heavy basket! How is your 7yo DDs leg ankle? The street water fight sounds like loads of fun (ankle aside of course) did your DS enjoy the massage class?

@Sictransitgloria thats really frustrating about the tongue tie not being picked up! Hope the lactation consultant gave you some helpful advice on the best way to proceed now. We gave DS a dummy after the first week. I read that they can reduce tje risk of SIDS so I'm all for them. Oddly he only wants it for daytime naps, spits it out once asleep but doesn't really want it for his night time sleep.

@CaseofEllen so sorry you've had to go back to hospital, are you still there? I agree that you did the right thing in sending your little one home where he would be more comfortable. Hope your referral comes through quickly.

@BadBadBeans thanks for posting the poem, I'm another who has felt a little disheartened at my post baby body. Mainly my belly really. I knew i had stretch marks towards the end of pregnancy but because i couldn't see under my bump i didnt realise how bad they were. Now my belly has deflated there are loads round my belly button and i also have the wrinkly loose skin around there

@kee80 hope you got on ok at the GP? Sorry you're in pain. As others have said, sounds like it could be an infection so hopefully it will resolve quickly with antibiotics.

@MyMumDimensionJumps oh i feel you on the wonder leap fussiness! We had the same thing but pleased to say after a few days he's much more more settled. It's definitely noticeable that he's had the leap, loads of smiles now and so much more alert. Hope hes been more settled for you.

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever hope you got a chance to relax with a bath yesterday, that's really bad timing on the shower breaking!

@shiny888 oh gosh what a horrible time for you! Agree with others that this is nothing you have done. How is she today?

Sorry if I've missed anything and sorry for the essay. Tried to go through the thread since i last posted and didn't realise how much I'd missed!

melissa112 · 26/04/2019 08:59

Oh before i forget, is it too late to get a stretchy sling like a close caboo? G is 7 weeks on Monday and starting to be both awake for longer in the day but also harder to put in his moses basket for a nap so really struggling with getting anything done. I have to pop him in his bouncer to wash his bottles and change steriliser which is fine apart from he then starts crying after a few mins and i have to bounce it with one foot while standing on one leg washing bottles Grin would be so much easier to carry him round with me. Must admit though that I'm terrified of doing it wrong and dropping him. Can you bend down in them? Like to empty the washing machine without baby falling out Blush?

We're also struggling with what sleeping bag to put him in during the night. Our gro bag instructions say 16-20 degrees 2.5 tog and then its split by 16-18 and 18-20 for what to wear underneath. Then 20-24 is 1.0 tog. Frustratingly (not sure thats a word!) our room often hovers between 19.8 and 20.2 so no idea which one to one! We've been sticking with the 1.0 as my thinking is I'd rather too cool than too hot but it's giving me more of a headache than it should!

melissa112 · 26/04/2019 09:00

*which one to use, not which one to one

Gronk27 · 26/04/2019 09:12

@melissa112 thanks, I have a baby K’Tan sling which i’m Just getting to grips with but they go up quite big in terms of baby size. When I manage to get A in it she loves it and I get so much done. Also shopping wise I usually put what i’m buying in the pram basket underneath and then back in there after once I’ve paid.

kee80 · 26/04/2019 09:43

@shiny888 hope your little one is ok now. You must have been so worried

@Gronk27 hope the antibiotics work for you. I had to start them yesterday due to an infection from my c-section

@melissa112 thank you. I went to docs yesterday, it is an infection and had quite an high temp so on paracetamol to keep it down and strong antibiotics
