Foxy, you forgot no appreciation from "employers"........

but job satisfaction in spades when it's going well or you receive compliments

see how a few hours away from the monster makes you mellow!

trendaverter · 12/07/2007 13:56

nedmum...why take it round?! Let her come and get it!!

Foxy how many days over are you? I know it means sweet FA right now...but I know how you feel xx

daisyandbabybootoo · 12/07/2007 13:56

cheers bumper when you come up to show off your DD to your Dad, we must meet up again. I would love to meet DD in person

bumperlicious · 12/07/2007 13:58

well done on the feeding jamantha! i know what you mean about 'good side' and 'bad side' !

have any of you tried the breast crawl thing? even if you just lay down and put them near the breast they will find the nipple and latch themselves on, it's amazing!

foxybrown · 12/07/2007 13:58

LOL Daisy - so true!

Just the 13 days over now ... am going to give you a run for your money I think! Will definately have her by Monday.

But once I crack on I might beat Derlor in the Mothers Race

annobal · 12/07/2007 13:59

Daisy, so glad you are feeling a bit better. Do make sure you ask for help - it's not worth 'coping' as it just makes things worse all around.

Have just posted my [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=1370&threadid=354940&stamp=070712123051 birth announcement]. Didn't necessarily go to plan (!!) but the end result was pretty amazing .

annobal · 12/07/2007 14:00

Foxy, DH took the computer just after I posted the last message to you. You are being so amazing about all of this. Talk about a slow burner! And they say labour is hard

annobal · 12/07/2007 14:01

DOH - try this one birth announcement

daisyandbabybootoo · 12/07/2007 14:02

My friend gave me a stern talking to and told me to ask for help.....

...she is a teacher and is 20 wks pg and has exam papers to mark.....what a star.

I will repay her in buckets after she has had her LO!

hi annobal...off to read your birth thread now!

annobal · 12/07/2007 14:05

And Foxy sorry for jumping the queue - you are DEFINITELY next

foxybrown · 12/07/2007 14:05

Good for her Daisy! You ARE Supermom, but its hard to keep it up 24/7.

One of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me was after DD was born she brought me a homemade cottage pie for our dinner and changed my bedsheets.

Lilkel is absolutely spot-on, just ONE nice thing a day for yourself. With no guilt.

foxybrown · 12/07/2007 14:06

I'll turn the light off the AN thread on my way out

bumperlicious · 12/07/2007 14:07

that would be great daisy! not sure how i'm going to make that mamouth journey though!
can we do weight comparison? (the babies not ours!) everyone keeps saying how tiny dd is. she is 7lb 14, up 8oz on birth weight at 3 weeks. hv didn't seem worried but i'm getting paranoid...

OP posts:
charlie999 · 12/07/2007 14:09

Sounds ok to me Bumper - my DD is 7lb 13oz at 5 and a half weeks!

charlie999 · 12/07/2007 14:11

meant to say was 6lb 8oz at birth (9th centile) so is doing well - and didn't lose any birth weight.

If HV isn't worried, neither should you! Sounds like she's doing fine

daisyandbabybootoo · 12/07/2007 14:15

bumper...I've not had dd weighed for three weeks now....

A tip from an old hand...throw the bloody growth charts away, they cause unneccesary worry and stress for new parents, and are not specific to BF babies who are generally off the centiles on the charts. If you look at the WHO charts for BF babies you will get a much better idea of where she should be.

As long as she is growing and has nice chubby thighs and face....try not to worry!

Oh, after our few days of no or just little bits of poo.......we had the mother and father of all explosive poos today....it was running out of the nappy and down her legs....lovely

bumperlicious · 12/07/2007 14:15

Just read your birth announcement annobal. scary stuff but glad it all went ok in the end.

foxy, you trouper, how's it going? Definitely not long now

OP posts:
bumperlicious · 12/07/2007 14:18

Thanks guys, that's reassuring.

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 12/07/2007 14:19

the guideline is that they should pass their birth weight by two weeks which she has done so has effectively gained 8ozs in one week which is more than fine.

it also depends how much they have lost after birth as well. My milk came in really quickly and we got off to a flying start with the feeding so babyboo didn't lose a massive amount. She was weighed at 3 weeks and had gained 1lb 4ozs

andiem · 12/07/2007 15:04

Hi ladies back from lunch
weight wise first 8 weeks should gain 200g a week minus the 2 weeks when they lose and regain their birt weight so from 2 weeks on should be gaining 200gs a week not sure what that is in ozs can only do metric sorry!
Daisy is right re centile charts based on ff babies so bf babies always on lower centiles. All HVs should be using bf charts for bf babies but have just got my red book and old charts still in crap as usual asked hv about it and she said oh are there new charts aagh
I am lecturer in child health and we train hvs at my school of nursing luckily I don't have to go near them as they drive me maaaaad!!!!!!
had nice lunch with friend lo asleep which is good as have to do school run now hopefully back later.........

weddingcake · 12/07/2007 15:35

Just dropping in to say hi and sympathy to those who are having a bad day.

We're having good days and bad days this end. Saw cranial osteopath yesterday which was absolutely fascinating and hopefully he'll be able to help with the bad wind. Just have to eat value beans on toast for a while to pay for it... worth it if we finally get some sleep though!

Have expressed today so am hoping to go out alone to meet a friend this evening - looking forward to it but also feels a bit weird even though I know DH is more than capable.

Biggest issue is what to wear - at least when you've got a newborn with you you've got an excuse for the spare tyre round your middle (and in my case hips/thighs/bum etc.)
Going out alone (with a size 8 friend) I'll just look plain fat!

Take Care girls and as you all told me ...NO GUILT ALLOWED!

bumperlicious · 12/07/2007 15:42

weddingcake - don't be silly - you've just had a baby! I bet you'll look fab! Hope you have a great time tonight. Has your LO taken a bottle yet?

I'm starting to feel a bit cabin feverish here. trying to think of things I can do with the little one. we've been to bumps and babies, and bf support group. it won't be so bad when I have made friends with other mothers and it won't matter what I do as I'll have company. but right now am feeling a bit bored. any tips?

OP posts:
daisyandbabybootoo · 12/07/2007 15:55

.....but she knows what she's talking about

We're blessed with people in the know on this thread....HVs, BF counsellors, lecturers in child health, it's great!!

Bumper, WHO growth standards for BF girls 0-6months

daisyandbabybootoo · 12/07/2007 15:58

LOL weddingcake......the value beans might counteract everything the CO does to help the wind

ikwym about the spare tyre...I can't get rid of the last 10 lbs and can't get any of my old clothes on. thankfully my uncerbump maternity clothes still fit OK and don't look like obvioous maternity stuff.

Have a fab time tonight, a night out will make you feel so so normal...but don't expect to be able to talk about anything other than your LO

daisyandbabybootoo · 12/07/2007 17:40

was it something i said...where is everybody????
