OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My Lo went all night without having a pooey nappy...tis a first for the Boo household, a nappy without poo in it

she also slept from 9 till 2:15 and then from 3 till 7:30....

but we are obviously having our 5-6 week growth spurt so is feeding voraciously when she is awake.

TA...babyboo had a growth spurt at about 19 days......fed for 6.5 hours and only had little naps of about 20 mins a time. It was horrible and I don't think I left the sofa during that time.....but she did sleep for 7 hours straight afterwards!

foxybrown · 10/07/2007 09:55

Thats great of Babyboo Daisy! 6 weeks is such a huge turning point. Bless!!

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 10:00

are we talking here or over there?

I'm gettting confused again, but then again it doesn't take much these days!

did you watch that programme on the beeb last night with the babies..Fight for Life? it was real edge of the seat blubbing stuff. Maybe not best when labour is imminent though?

derlor · 10/07/2007 10:06

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 10:08

You get better at it Derlor....I can even do capitals and punctuation and everything now

derlor · 10/07/2007 10:09

derlor · 10/07/2007 10:10

derlor · 10/07/2007 10:12

meant to say daisy meet up in glaswow sounds great

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 10/07/2007 10:17

Morning!

So...are jbm and annobal in labour then? How exciting! I've just checked and seansgirl is annobal's text buddy, so we should hear if something happens!

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 10/07/2007 10:20

daisy that show last night was hideous! If I'd have watched it a couple of years ago I'd never have had babies! The meconium thing was particularly frightening!

derlor · 10/07/2007 10:23

hi Holly, i've just invited Nedmum over to join us - seems to be going through a tough time (see our antinatal thread)
yeah could be 2 more babies today - how ecxiting!!!!

derlor · 10/07/2007 10:29

hello - where have you all gone?

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 10:33

I did that too Derlor....I remember how I felt when /DS was that age...it was one of the bleakest moments in my life, especially as he wasn't feeding well.

Hmmm...the meconium thing was frightening. now I understand why they are so twitchy about meconium in your waters. I had no idea it could get that serious. The c-section was frightening too. Babyboo needed to be resuscitated. I was feeling like I was gonna be very sick so was talking to the anaesthetist, but I was aware that she wasn't crying. when I read over my notes it said she was resuscitated for a minute.....I had no idea it was that long, but DH said he was starting to worry!

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 10/07/2007 10:38

I'm here, had a sticky orange nappy to change!

I had no idea how serious it was either daisy, I was kind of wondering why the mw was so insistant on me going to hospital! Poor babyboo! Having babies is so frightening!

derlor · 10/07/2007 10:39

right back to 2 hands.
I was a right mess when i had DS as well daisy - ended up with horrendous PND - nasty!
i'm off out to get my hair cut today so back later xx

Nedmum · 10/07/2007 10:40

Oh, there's loads of you here. All feeling a bit useless. Good.
To recap, six-week-old son, feel like I'm useless, all he does is cry, none of this sitting and cooing and being alert malarkey. Like, all the books say, for bathing or massage or what have you "pick a time when baby is awake and alert." Eh, if he's awake, he's yelling, or preparing to yell, or getting his breath back after yelling.
And he seems permanently hungry too. Was breastfeeding for four weeks, we both got thrush, kept reinfecting each other, so expressed but it disappeared (oh, the guilt) so now on formula. He wants to eat way more than the guidelines on the back.
To recap further, currently have a frog (gift from cat) under a washing up bowl on the floor. Thought it was dead, or nearly so. Now there are increasingly loud bangs coming from bowl. Is a frog strong enough to move a plastic bowl with a hardback book on top of it?

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 10:40

I had a pamper at the salon last week Derlor....it akes such a difference to your mental well being feeling nice and groomed.

Have fun!

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 10/07/2007 10:47

Nedmum, you need to get the frog outside! They die really quickly if their skin dries out as they can't breathe.

Welcome btw! Sorry you are having a hard time, we are all a bit crazy at the moment. I am still in my dressing gown and covered in baby sick and my children are still in their pjs!

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 10:48

Hi Nedmum...glad you found us.

I'm BF so don't know about the formula...but someone else will be able to help, although they do go through a growth spurt at about six weeks, so its probably that. Feed him as much as he wants and it'll probably settle down in a day or two.
Does he maybe have colic?

with the bath...just stick him in, asleep or yelling or whatever. My DD is five weeks and she has just started to thingk the bath isn't actually that bad an ordeal. she was kicking her legs the other day and looked like she was enjoying it

I'm sure it's the last straw for you, but your frog dilemma is really funny. I would be the same though as I'm a bit squeamish about things like that. Can you slide something under the basin and then lift the whole thing and put it outside?

Nedmum · 10/07/2007 10:55

Hi.
Husband has just suggested the putting something under the bowl and shifting it solution, but my fear is that it will escape and start leaping round the house. Also, don't want to go and get a neighbour, as had to do that not long ago for MASSIVE spider, so they'll think I'm a loon. And they keep going on about how evil our cat is for occasionally killing birds (in the olden days, before the arrival of Ned and the disappearance of my former capable self) I was a bird disposal expert, freeing many of them alive.
I think I'll just add another book and leave it. Thank God the baby can't move unaided. And the HV not visiting today.
Plus point - feeling far less glum about baby, who is quite happily farting and snoring on my lap

Nedmum · 10/07/2007 10:58

Oh feck, I think I just heard it croak (speak, not die, sadly). I might have to call the police...

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 11:01

glad you're feeling a bit better Nedmum. We're quite good at cheering each other up on this thread, so stick around...it can get a bit quiet sometimes, but there's generally someone about before too long.

Cogratulations on your baby by the way and welcome to mumsnet...you will be addicted before you know it!

Right I'm off to do some washing up before DD wakes up again.

See you all later.

hollyandalicewillbedogtanian · 10/07/2007 11:01

Aww nedmum, if I lived near you I'd come and sort it out for you! I am a spider, frog, bird, yucky dead or dieing things and bugs disposal expert! I am a bit of a weirdo hippy, spiders are my friends, loads of them in my house!

Nedmum · 10/07/2007 11:07

Ok, am plucking up the courage to leave the room and go and wash/dress myself and the little one, who has now woken up. And started screaming. Will leave frog in its plastic prison. If I return, and the bowl has moved, I will leave the house and not return til hubby home. In eight hours.
Thanks for the help, and I'll be back here soon. Unless I go out and inflict the screaming on the wider world

daisyandbabybootoo · 10/07/2007 11:17

LOL holly at your spiders, that's just because you are a domestic slut and can't be bothered to clean

says the woman who has the biggest spider in the world living in her kitchen by the water stop cock. If there was ever a water leak in this house, we'd be flooded, as I ain't going in there ever!

I was just trying to move my profile and I've bloody lost it...all my wittiness and photos lost!

I'm off to complain to tech!
