I'm with you all on the 4 week sleep regression! I'm FF my DS but he just refuses to be out down. Last night was okay because DP stayed up for a couple of hours with him while I slept, whereas tonight DP is up at 4am for work so I'm handling night feeds alone. Managed 10 minutes sleep so far from 10pm!

DD who is 2 is poorly again, so she's up coughing every 5 minutes. Tonight is going to b a looooooong night Sad

Notquiteagandt · 12/03/2019 02:32

Anyone wondering when leaps and growth spurts come around reccomend the wonderweeks app. It explains each one and time frames etc.

I have a 5wk old cluster feeding tonight. Shes not let me put her down since 7..!!

I said I wanted to a minimum of 6wks bf and we are so close. But tbh cant see me giving up soon.So much easier to just roll over and wack my boob out then have to go kitchen to make milk up. Whilst by myself.

But it does have its difficulties. Like in biggest supermarket que ever this afternoon she was crying. As she was wanting milk. But there was no way I could boob a baby and juggle a trolly and pay for shopping etc so had to just let her cry well scream until we got outside. (Felt awful was nearly crying myself!) I picked her up though to really useful comments from 2 old women that I was spoiling her 😡 why do people feel like this or need to vocalise it. Makes me so angry!!

AvoidingMarking · 12/03/2019 02:57

@Notquiteagandt as if you can spoil a 5 week old with a cuddle! People are ridiculous

lanalawr · 12/03/2019 03:12

Thank you everyone. Ds put on weight for yesterday's weigh in - hooray!! He's now just a few oz away from birthweight. @Notquiteagandt they've looked infidel

lanalawr · 12/03/2019 03:31

Sorry I think I dozed off and accidentally pressed post. Blush

@Notquiteagandt they've looked inside his mouth and said there's no tongue tie. I hate it when people comment like that. I had it a lot with dd when she became more vocal, especially because her happy noises sounded like she was crying really hard.

@bubblybrit we've got birthday twins! Hope you have some luck with the hv today.

@AmberRose17 I'm sorry you're struggling at the moment. Do you think it's a growth spurt? If you didn't want to call him with formula, do you think you could hand express enough to calm him and latch him on? Have you tried using breast shells to catch let down on the non feeding/pumping side? I've used that to calm ds a few times.

Notquiteagandt · 12/03/2019 05:26

@lanalawr amaizing..!! Well done both of you. Heres to the next few oz and your worrying going. Flowers

Lookingforadvice123 · 12/03/2019 05:34

Great news lanalawr!

LOL at "spoiling" a baby. I absolutely hate those comments.

DS2 cluster fed like made the last few evenings, up until last night when he was very sleepy all evening. I was worried he would wake and want to cluster in the middle of the night instead, but I think he actually finally gave us a 3 hour block of sleep, at 15 days old, Yey! His other blocks were all at least 2 hours which makes such a difference from the 1 hour blocks we were having before. We are now giving one bottle of formula in the night so DH can do a feed and I can sleep through it, but other than that bf seems to be going well so I think I'll definitely stick with it for longer than with DS1 which was 1 month exactly.

Hi, I’m looking for reassurance or advice here before I go completely mad !!!

I had my daughter the 02/01/19, I had a 3rd degree tear and needed a lot of stitches, I bleed for 3 weeks then stopped and at 6 weeks I started bleeding again, I thought it might have been my period coming back so I started on the pill but it’s now nearly 4 weeks later and I’m still bleeding, quite heavy sometimes too and sometimes there’s small clots 😩

I’m a first time Mam so not sure if this is normal, I’m due to go back on the pill on Friday, might see if doing so stops the bleeding before I go back to the GP...🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ anybody else experience anything like this ???

Notquiteagandt · 12/03/2019 07:15

@ElaineE88 I had my DD on the 1st feb and annoyingly I also got my period back on the weekend. I am breastfeeding so really hoped I wouldnt. I had a csection so barely bled after delivery. But I have noticed it is a lot more painful, heavier and crampy then usual.

I stopped bleeding in hospital then started again at about 3wks. For a few days. Then stopped until now. The dr said it is common once youre more mobile to start bleeding again. As I too was worried. Could you be over doing it? Cant hurt to speak to a dr?

bubblybrit · 12/03/2019 07:41

That’s great news that his weight is increasing. It’s such a worry @lanalawr

ElaineE88 · 12/03/2019 08:03

@notquiteagandt I thought I could be over doing it too as I went back to the gym but I was bleeding before I went back and I haven’t gone in a week and it hasn’t changed at all, it’s still as heavy !! It’s more frustrating for myself and my husband !!!!

Yakadee · 12/03/2019 08:46

Speaking of periods, I'm 6 weeks pp today and no sign of mine? I'm 100% not pregnant or anything and not bf?
I seem to think it had returned by this point with my first? Xx

lanalawr · 12/03/2019 09:42

@Yakadee mine came back 12 weeks pp last time (the day my smear was booked for 🙄). I was expressing small amounts until 6 weeks then dried up but I don't think I was expressing enough to stop my periods. It can take longer than 6 weeks but if you're worried then have a chat with your hv/midwife/gp.

Yakadee · 12/03/2019 09:54

Thanks @lanalawr. Just curious really rather than worried.

HV is coming tomorrow anyway so might ask her x

detachablehoof · 12/03/2019 12:33

This is my little girl's belly button and the mess it's leaving on her vest. I've been discharged from maternity care so can't contact midwife, should I speak to someone else? Or am I unnecessarily concerned? It doesn't smell and it doesn't seem to bother her so I don't think it's sore.

Yakadee · 12/03/2019 13:40

@detachablehoof - my daughter's is similar x

detachablehoof · 12/03/2019 14:17

@Yakadee good to know thanks. I just asked my mum what she thought and she said it looks normal to her. I'll just keep an eye on it!

Yakadee · 12/03/2019 14:32

I have the hv tomorrow so I'll mention it to her too x

Yakadee · 12/03/2019 17:24

Yay, just done some (light) exercise and I feel so much better for it! I'm unfit Haha but it's a start!

6 weeks pp today and feeling nearly back to normal (minus the mum tum) 💪

babyp160 · 13/03/2019 01:08

@detachablehoof after midwife your care is under your health visitor. They used to be midwives or are trained in so more than knowledgable on everything like that. Give them a call?

Can't help as babies was almost closed when had fallen off. We were airing it a lot though baby just in folded down nappy in the day.

Pinkypieohmy · 13/03/2019 11:47

Yakadee you are supermum!
I want to get back into some excercise but don’t know where to start.
I’m out walking short distances with the pram but that’s it.
Would you mind me asking what excercise you have done?
I was wondering when I could start cycling but then thought maybe swimming would be a better place to start?
My friend warned me we are at risk of a hernia after c section so this worried me but i don’t know how true this is Confused

Yakadee · 13/03/2019 12:56

@Pinkypieohmy - of course. It's really easy but figured I had to start somewhere. Looking forward to getting back to playing netball but nowhere near fit enough and it's a bit too full on / jumpy for right now.

It's just on YouTube. It's 'one mile walk' (warning - it's a bit cheesy). It's basically just aerobics but gets me off my butt for 15 mins etc.

Haven't heard the hernia thing before but I think we'd have to take it easy at first (I had a section).

Had the hv this morning for Emma's 6 week visit, she's 12lb5! She was 7lb13 when she was born! Xx

detachablehoof · 13/03/2019 14:36

Ugh, I have a friend who had a baby the same week as me and her baby sleeps 7 hours every night Shock. I asked her how she did it and she sent me through her routine/schedule. Think it's quite similar to the Gina Ford philosophy. I could never stick to it (or not feed a crying baby in the night!) but it's left me feeling like a hopelessly inadequate mum! My baby seems to be up all night and sleeping (in cat naps) a lot of the day. Any tips on getting her to realise that night time is for longer stretches of sleep, or should I just wait it out for a few more weeks?

detachablehoof · 13/03/2019 14:38

@Yakadee did your HV say anything about Emma's belly button?

Amazing weight gain! Crazy how fast they grow!

AvoidingMarking · 13/03/2019 15:37

@detachablehoof how old is baby? I'd be worried if they slept for that long!

You are definitely not a bad mum for not leaving your baby to cry!
