Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cameroonmama · 03/07/2007 12:14

Lups, sorry I know nothing about ff, hope it gets easier soon.

Scoot hope you are feeling better today, I sympathise with you and having to cope with a tantruminous toddler on your own.

Pebble, sorry about the flooding and having to deal with the council, we are still ceiling and carpet-less in the hall and are waiting for the insurance people to tell us when and who will be sorting it out, it could be a long wait, I suspect a conspiracy between councils and insurance assessors

Oh MrsJB,packing, how exciting Hope you have packed some raincoats! Bon voyage.

LG&T - I am so for you about Beau, I have never heard of it before and I'm sure a trip to the Paed will be much more reassuring than a GP can be. Fingers crossed. The car breaking down business must be catching as ours flashed at me yesterday so I took it straight to the nearest ford dealer who said it leave it with them for a couple of days, its serious, you would have broken down had you not come straight here, bla bla bla, so I asked for a car as we live in a small town 10 miles away and the dc go to school 3 miles away from home. But there wasn't one, no courtesy car, wtf? This is a major dealer, the car is under warranty, its raining outside, I have 3dc to ferry around, I've had a nanosecond of sleep in nearly 2 months and no dh to take it all out on. So I am ashamed to say I cried, totally blubbed. Guess what, they found me a car pretty damn quickly The garage have yet to call and say my car is ready though, which is ominous. So LG&T, I suggest you sob a little to the man at the garage, its not big and grown up and the feminists would have a field day, but it WORKS

What is just now with baby colds? J also has a terrible one and was snorting and snuffing all night.

ShowOfHands · 03/07/2007 12:43

Oh LG&T, poor you and poor snuffly Beau. Have been reading up and realise I have a friend with pectus excavatum, known him forever. His is a mild form too and it causes no problems. I know he suffered no extra respiratory issues and puberty didn't worsen it. I hope the paed can reassure you and if it's mild I hope his experience is the same as my friend's. He used to put liquid in the cavity and drink it with a straw at parties. Parties in Norfolk are dull.

So sorry to hear about all of the problems- floods, cars, colds, lack of sleep, hungry babies, tantrums etc. I hope everybody has a turn of fortune soon.

Sat up all night watching M as her temperature just got worse and worse. NHS Direct said even if it got to 40 they wouldn't worry which I didn't really agree with. Anyway she peaked at 39 and today is 10 times better. Still snuffly and has a bad cough but she's smiling, happy, no temp and sleeping LOTS!

Lupins I sympathise. M is a very, very hungry baby. Never goes more than 1.5hrs and that's a long time for her really. Different I know because she's breastfed but I don't think baby rice is recommended to help with hunger. AFAIK it doesn't have many calories in it and only serves to fill the stomach without providing enough calories for development and his gut is probably too immature to cope with any solids. I wonder if being so early means that A is just catching up. MIL always says that DH- very prem- was exceedingly hungry until he caught up to his actual age at an amazing 10 months. They said it should have taken two years really. I know none of this helps but I keep telling myself that M is just developing, it won't last and in 4 months I can start to wean her. Cripes, that's a long time. Don't know what to recommend. There's lots in the archives if you search for 'hungry baby'. Hang on in there with dh too, it will get better I promise. Anti-depressants take time to work and the change will be worth it. I do think of you often, let me know if I can help at all.

Tam posted a couple of weeks ago about the bending over the carseat trick. Every journey we do is punctuated by me clambering into the back seat and dangling a boob in M's face. We do not have tinted windows. Lots of tractor crashes I cause.

Straw hat will be coming to the meet-up with me btw!

Must go, hungry little baby is cawing...

largeginandtonic · 03/07/2007 12:48

Cam i need not try and blub, would manage it quite well without even thinking about it today. The bloody garage have not phoned back yet

I just spoke to one of DH's friends on MS, he is in China working. He is DH best mate and was best man at the wedding. He was listening to my pitiful wail and said he has the Pectus excavatum too!! He is lovely and perfectly fine, was offered surgery but didnt take it as it is quite horrific. He said he was concious of it as a teenager but doesnt give a monkeys now

And now i come on here and MRSJB knows someone too! Am feeling better about it. Will try to be calm

Lupin when i had the twins they were weaned according to when they were born not to when they should have been born. So i would say feed him baby rice at 4 months, so only another few weeks to wait

Tam also PMSL at your norks out in the car, SOH did the same thing a couple of weeks ago with Mathilda!!!

Am off to hoover and do some washing, oh the joy

largeginandtonic · 03/07/2007 12:54

Cross posts SOH.....nice to know your friend is ok and PMSL at drinking out of the cavity!

All true about the baby rice Lups, it wont fill him up with what he needs, thats why they say wait till the babies are 4 months before weaning. The twins were on 9oz feeds by the time they were weaned at 4 months. I have no idea how i used to walk around with 9oz in each boob, they would take that in a bottle though, so presume that i how much i made for each feed

Right hoovering.....washing.... >

scootermum · 03/07/2007 13:01

Hi all,

Have had two kids screamng non stop for the last 3 hours..Nothing will calm either of them!I feel a show tune coming on!
All together now..'I am a pirate king I am, Hurrah for the Pirate King..'(I Love Pirates of Penzance!)

Off to GP now then toddlers group..chat to you all later...

Love all of you ladies BTW..So nice to know that someone somewhere that I know is probably also listening to a baby or two crying..(though you guys are probably tending to your ones rather than MNing..but Ive run out of ideas today!)

AbbyLou · 03/07/2007 14:13

Sorry to hear about Beau LGT, hope his cold is better soon and you can glean a little more info from the pead about his condition. It's one I've never heard of tbh.
Sounds like R is about the only one without a cold - don't know why I just said that because she's bound to get one now....
Lupin A certainly sounds like a hungry boy! You must be exhausted. My dsis lo was prem and she was told she could still wean at 4 months. This was only last year, it helped him no end but is a very contentious issue so I'll say no more...
I'd forgotten how horrible it is taking los for their jabs. I've just come back from R's first ones - a needle in both legs at the same time! I did feel for her! Unfortunately her dummy flew out of her mouth as she screamed and one of the old bags threw it away!! She said they couldn't let me have it back because their floor is not sterile and a lot of mums would put it straight back in their baby's mouth in the waiting room! I was not happy to say the least, nosy old cow.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/07/2007 14:50

SCOOT.................... address please. cathalix2004 at hotmail dot com. [smie]

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/07/2007 14:51

even

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/07/2007 14:54

I thought the reccomendations for weaning were 6mth now? I'm wrong I'm sure, poor Maddie she must have been starvng!!

lg&t, I was just thinking about what I'd said about my friend's little boy. I'm not sure his respitory problems are related actually. I remember her menioning that he also has narrow airways, so this is more likely the reason for that. Doh.....

ShowOfHands · 03/07/2007 15:10

You're right, 6 months exclusive breastfeeding/formula feeding!

2 down, 4 to go...

Have you finished packing?

ShowOfHands · 03/07/2007 15:11

Oh and just been for our weigh in and Mathilda has gained 4 stone or thereabouts. Gannet.

InTheseShoes · 03/07/2007 16:24

ascends podium

Ahem...Ted and I would like to thank you for the award of May's Most Huge Baby. We've never won anything before and it's a real honour

Sorry to hear about the sick babies - SOH, glad M is better, LGT, nothing to add as absolutely no knowledge of the pectus thing, but sure that everyone's advice is good and that it hopefully won't be much to worry about.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/07/2007 16:50

Congratuations Ted..... going to be a star obviously Intheseshoes. winning his first award at birth.

SOH, I have nearly finished, last minute bits now. Won't be able to sleep tonight will be thinking about all the things I may have forgotten. Passports in, and I suppose thats the main thing. Jorja looks very cute on her passport pic taken at 3 days.
I forgot to get her a European Health Card though, doh..... france assurs me we don't need one for the UK hopefully we won't need it anyway.

Gingerbread baby now weighs, how much then SOH?

Pebblemum · 03/07/2007 16:58

MrsJB Great news on the wine if its ok with LG&T maybe you could leave it with her and I can arrange to pick it up at some point. How much do i owe you and how do you want the money ie paypal, cheque etc, you can email me with the details [email protected]

LG&T Poor beau, I hope that after speaking to the Paed that it helps put your mind at rest.

Sorry to hear some of the LO's are suffering with colds and other nasties. Alana has been quite snuffly today but so far, touch wood, there has been no other signs to indicate she is getting a cold. She feeding and sleeping well anyway so thats a good thing.

Im getting Alana weighed tomorrow, i didnt do it last week and hated not knowing how much she weighed so to save my own sanity i have to do it this week Luckily the clinic is held at ds2's pre-school so its only a 5min walk.
I think my HV is spying on me, everywhere i go she seems to be there, even in Asda on Sunday. Ive seen her twice today near my house and just now she pulled up outside, sat in her car for a few minutes then drove off. Maybe ive got a stalker lol

MKG · 03/07/2007 17:09

Morning all I had a rough night last night, but funny enough it wasn't Cruz's fault. I had a hard time getting comfortable, so everytime I moved in the bed Cruz would wake up, it was me keeping him up instead of the usual him keeping me up. I hate this co-sleeping thing, and can't wait to kick him out of the bed, but I'll take any sleep I can get at the moment.

Sorry to hear about the sick babies out there.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 03/07/2007 19:28

co-sleeping MKG? Is it the done thing in the states?
I think it's frowned upon a bit in the UK. However Jorja has barely spent a night out of our bed I have to add.

AbbyLou · 03/07/2007 19:34

Has anyone else's lo had any sort of reaction to their jabs? C never had one to any of his, even when bigger. However R had hers at 1.30 and from 4.30 to now she has been really unsettled and for the last hour screaming almost non-stop. She's fed ok, in fact the only way I could get her to stop screaming was to feed her. I decided in my wisdom to bath them both together for the first time whilst dh is out at work! R was actually an agel in the bath, it seemed to calm her down but when I got her out and left her at the side in her sleeping to wash C's hair she went berserk .I must admit I've given in and given her a tiny dose of Calpol. I know it is allowed post imms but I don't like to unless really necessary. I gave her it about 7 and she seems to be settling fairly well in bed. I've not had to go and out the dummy back yet but I think it may be imminent! Do you think this is a reaction or just a coincidence? She doesn't have a temperature by the way.

cameroonmama · 03/07/2007 19:40

How do you all do the co-sleeping thing? I am always very scared that I either smother J with the duvet or I roll over onto him. Also whenever I am near he starts to snuffle, stir and almost wake up. In fact I am planning to soon move him from our room to his db room, as soon as I buy a cot Oh god, and I wean early, around 4 months as my babies are always so huge. Am I being a neglectful mummy?

Congrats to Ted for his bouncing baby award - how big is he now?

Do you drive all the way back MrsJB? How long does it take?

dejags · 03/07/2007 20:07

Hi all,

I have finally managed to get back on the antenatal thread.

Carys is doing well. Recovering from the RSV and now starting to fatten up. She only weighed 8lbs at 7 weeks and will be weighed again next week when she's 10 weeks. I know she's getting bigger very quickly though as a few of her clothes are now fitting properly.

I am exhausted - the trauma of her being so ill has really taken it's toll and now I feel compelled to watch her like a hawk 24x7. It isn't made any easier being stuck indoors with three kids (we have another 3 weeks of quarantine to go ).

Anyway, it's not all doom and gloom. She's finally started giving smiles (she was nearly four weeks early and seems to be developing according to her due date age).

Anyway, I have read through the thread. I hope those of you with sick babies get through it soon and those of you who are struggling at night - hang in there it will get better

Love
dejagsxxx

aprilmeadow · 03/07/2007 20:26

As requested by Befnal here is the link to the now closed May Ante Natal Thread

LG&T, oh my goodness poor Beau. What a crappy week you are having.

Dejags good to hear from you. Gald that C is making a good recovery. Ella was born at about the same gestation as C and i would say that she has already caught up. The only difference i can see between her and my ds who was 40+6 is the weight.

Lups, no idea on the feeding front i am afraid. How are you doing? let me know if you fancy a coffee anytime.

MrsJB, hope you have a safe journey. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Ella has been in her own room for 4-5weeks now and its so nice not to have to tip toe around at night. Its a bit annoying to have to go downstairs (live in a town house) at 4am to feed her but at least the snuffles and grunting dont keep me awake all night

aprilmeadow · 03/07/2007 20:27

i meant glad not gald

juliewoolie · 03/07/2007 20:47

Hi all,

lovely afternoon out today with befsnork snd juicy. All our good intentions to go power walking out the window obviously we are blaming the showers but in fact I think the lure of yummy food won out.

Cam co-sleeping is a tricky one. Most people just chuck their babies in with them but there is an official line on how to do it properly. You need a bed side like the ones used when you put the bubs in a proper bed. The baby then sleeps next to you not inbetween you and partner. Also no duvet or pillows use a sheet instead. No alcohol is allowed. The theory is that your natural instinct would not allow you to roll onto baby, which is why no alcohol is allowed.

Dejags great to see you back.

Hello to ev1 else.

scootermum · 03/07/2007 21:02

O bugger, did email you MRS jb..but it cant have sent..will do it again now..hope havent missed you..thankyou for chasing me up..you are an angel coming over armed with lovely biscuits for me!

We do co sleeping too..well not on purpose but with two kids crying it just ends up that way..I dont sleep well though then as worried about DH squishing one..I wouldnt I dont think as I always sort of know where they are, but he sleeps like a log and wouldnt notice if he rolled on one..

Hey Dejags..so nice to hear from you.so glad Carys is doing so well! And well done you for getting through it too!

That was a good stats round up...38 babies..I wonder if when they are 18 will they have a celebratory internet meet up? To commemorate our lovely thread...

Any news on the car largegandt? What a pain..though I must say all the best cars have some teething problems..my first little car broke down on the way to my English A level, (handy-had to run half way to school and arrived soaking wet as it was raining and was not in a good mental place with re sitting down to the case study paper), but after I had it fixed, which cost about as much as the car cost in the first place it went like a rocket for about 6 years..everyone called it the Metro surprise because it was a surprise that it went at all!
Echo what the others said re Beau..sure the paeds will be reassuring..
Well Mae weighs 9.13 and a half the biffa..she slept from 9pm till 5.30am last night! However have paid dearly for it today as she has been unsettlable and has just thrown up for England.May be she has the thread cold?
Went to Dr who gave me some more antibiotics..if they dont work they will refer me back to the hosp so am hoping they will...felt a bit better actually today till this ever when I started to feel quite faint..then realised it was probably due to the fact that all Id eaten since 7am was a cereal bar and two spoonfuls of Lilys seaside pasta...Duh!Have scoffed down some fish and salad, (health) and some Haagen Dazs (about half a tub, not health!) to make up for it!

scootermum · 03/07/2007 21:18

Does anyone know when that programme about Cherie Blair is on?Have I missed it?
Was in bed for 9 last night such is my wild existance and am just about to go now..

cameroonmama · 03/07/2007 21:20

Think its tomorrow Scoot, off to bed too.. night night
