In honour of Sophie's impending birthday this week, I thought I would start a new thread....

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
numptysmummy · 09/07/2007 09:25

Hi all! Been flat out here with kids puppies an all. Had 4 kids and never made a bottle and now i'm feeding pups every 4 hrs!!!
Ella is walking! Thought it would never happen, the boys were 10mths and 11mths. Think i've missed loads of b'days so happy b'day to everyone. Can't believe Ella will be 1 in 5 days. Where did my baby go?

sohappyicouldcry · 09/07/2007 09:42

Well, back from a very wet holiday in France . Glad to hear weather hasn't been much better here though !!

Lots and lots of washing to do and of course cleaning ready for dd's birthday bash. Can't believe am up to 23 people coming so far . Really really hope the weather improves for it !

I had a lovely 30th thanks everyone. Spent it in La Rochelle, on the harbour, supping v&c's, then onto the beach (too cold for bikini) where dd tried to dig down to oz all the while throwing the sand into my face ! Then went on to little harbour village for lovely tea before dragging ourselves home.

Better dash, got to get on with everything before off to work tonight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to everyone who I missed while I was away, sorry. xx

sohappyicouldcry · 09/07/2007 09:43

Oh, forgot to say...... we now have 2 teeth (well, they are through but haven't pushed up into little pearlies just yet) !!! No walking as yet, but she is desperate so won't be long !

Better go.....

kbaby · 09/07/2007 10:41

Not much happening here today. Im on a late shift at work and DS is fast asleep bless him so its lovely and quiet.
May even go and do a bit of weeding.

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 09/07/2007 14:08

Happy Birthday KZ, and Charlotte Have a great day!

Decided on having a barbeque on Sunday for the birthday, and then another on her actual birthday the following Wednesday just for ourselves and the in-laws. So far we have a grand total of seven people coming! That only includes one baby... So nowhere near the 23 you're having, SoHappy!!

I'm not going to say Kayley's walking yet, but yesterday I was sitting on the floor, she was cruising on the couch, and she let go and dived for me, taking about three steps on the way, but no control over them, just a dive really. Hilarious! She wanted to do it again and again.
I put their swimsuits on yesterday and let them play in the garden with their water table while I hosed down the plants. Again, hilarious! They were absolutely soaked. I'll put a picture up soon.

Babalon, welcome back
Re the splinter, if you soak his hand in warm water for about 10 minutes, and then gently squeeze/tease it out with your fingertips, it should just slide out. Very difficult with a baby though. I have trouble doing it to my DH. Perhaps when he's asleep?

Numpty, congrats to Ella!! Kayley has already passed her deadline to be the same as DS, he walked at 11.5 months, so she's behind now! I think she's way ahead with her talking though, she seems to repeat sounds, and if you ask, where's mama, she'll point and go 'there' (so it sounds!). I really think they learn so much from older siblings.

I better go girls. I was so late in this morning (11.30!) after I had the dentist. But the boss isn't here, so I'll just do what I gotta do, and go. What a great job!

Bye for now!
Annie

babalon · 09/07/2007 20:07

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome back!

I got some magnesium sulphate paste from the chemist and put it under a plaster (which Logan thought was v funny) and the splinter must have come out because it's all dried up now.

Logan is still really spotty, but my sister took him to the drs today and she said that they don't look like chicken poxs except about 3 on his feet. It's really weird I thought maybe measles but the symptoms don't tally. all the symptoms of chick poxs put not fluid filled spots????? He really just likes being different

How's work going for you all who've gone back`? I really want a new job but it would mean shifts and I don't know how it would fit around Logan and my nephew? My sister and I share child care she has Logan on mon, tues and I have her little boy on wed and thurs, Logan goes to nursery on fri mornings and my mum has him in the afternoon. Child care is fab butr work is crap!

BBQS SOUND LIKE A GOOD IDEA FOR BABY BIRTHDAY PARTIES! What pressies are you thinking of getting your los?

Ceebee74 · 09/07/2007 21:11

Babalon - have gone REALLY over the top on pressies for Josh (we forgot stuff we had bought so have ended up with loads) - all little bits and pieces really like a push-along Thomas train.

Work - same as you, childcare is great (Josh is really thriving at nursery) but work is s*e (excuse my language). My company merged whilst I was on mat leave and it just isn't the same - my boss seems to have undergone a personality change whilst I was away, keeps telling me (and my colleagues) off for chatting - fgs, we are adults! Too much work, too little time (I am working 3 days a week but my workload hasn't reduced) - bet you are glad you asked

Have found a new job to apply for - it is 20 hours a week and 5 minutes drive away (I currently drive 20 minutes on a good day) - part-time jobs in my line are so rare that it seems too good an opportunity to miss. What do you ladies think? I guess I am nervous as I have only ever worked in public sector jobs and this is for a private company - feels like a leap into the unknown.

Hi Girls

Happy birthday Charlotte! (see, I knew I'd forget somebody ) hope you're having a lovely day Beadmum

Babalon - still haven't bought her a single present but the grandparents and other relatives have, so she'll have somethign to open. Was thinking of maybe a toddle truck but I'll have to get a shift on and order one! Good that Logan's splinter has shifted.

Sohappy - glad you had a good b'day

Annie - I still want your job, especially at the mo [sigh] Hope the mossies are behaving.

Emma said Daddaaay very clearly today, I still don't think she has a clue what it means but DP is convinced she does

Have good nights all & hope you're having a good b'day KZ xxx

FirstAtForty · 09/07/2007 21:23

x post Ceebee - we must have the same job

kbaby · 09/07/2007 22:03

Ceebee- what is it that you do? The new job sounds easier for you in regards to the travelling and if you?re not enjoying where you are then I would say go for it.

I forgot to tell you all last week but DS had his eye appointment regarding his squint. They confirmed that he doesn?t have one and just looks like he has because of his flat nose bridge. I was quite relieved, I mustve been worrying about it more than I thought.

He has started having mini tantrums now and if he cant have something he does this really annoying screech/cry until he gets it. Roll on the terrible twos.

A quick question for you all. How much milk are your lo having. Do they still need afternoon milk now?

Meant to be sunny tomorrow so I hope everyone gets to enjoy it.

Ceebee74 · 09/07/2007 22:15

Kbaby - glad that everything is ok with your DS. I am sure us mums worry subconciously about things - don't even realise we are doing it.

I work in HR - and this is only the third part-time job I can remember seeing advertised. I am going to submit my CV and see what happens (Twinkle - are you around? How is your job application going?) - I can always decide if I get offered it.

OP posts:
Ceebee74 · 09/07/2007 22:18

Sorry - posted that before I meant to!

Josh only has 2 bottles a day now - one first thing in the morning and one last thing at night (both about 7 oz - occasionally he will drain all 9oz but that is rare). He dropped his mid-morning and mid-afternoon milk a couple of months ago - I give him a snack now instead.

First - I bet your DP is so chuffed that that is Emma's first word - meant or not

OP posts:
babalon · 09/07/2007 23:11

oh my god mini tantrums are us!!! If I don't walk him around and try to sit him down WELL the whole wholed has ended! We just lie him down and let him get over it.Good practice for ignoring the terrible 1's,2's, 3's 4's..........7's...10's...13's need I go on!

Twinklemegan · 10/07/2007 00:22

Hi CB (and everyone else ). Yes I'm around, I'm just a little because I've lost track of everyone's birthdays. Happy Birthday to everyone and their DCs and I promise to look up the list tomorrow.

No new on the job front yet. I rang up their Personnel department last week to give them my home phone number as I was on leave. The lady said it can take up to 4 weeks to short list . She assured me I'd get a letter one way or the other so I'm not assuming the worst as yet. I'll be really disappointed if I don't get an interview, especially after making a fuss about it lol. But if I don't I think it'll be because they're after a real techy in which case the job wouldn't be my cup of tea in any case. We shall see...

Kbaby - hope you didn't get upset at that other thread. I wasn't getting at you, I was just interested in people's views of what exactly disposable income is. There were some pretty harsh responses to your question. Hope you make the right decision for you.

Twinklemegan · 10/07/2007 00:24

Oh and CB good luck with your application. (I was reading the thread backwards lol). I think public sector is a pile of cr*p these days (speaking from personal experience) and I don't think it's really any more secure than the private sector. You go girl!

Hi Girls,

New name in anticipation of the new HP book!!!

KZ! What's flat chat????? [doh]

Hope all the job applications are going well! CeeBee yours sounds good, especially if you're not happy where you are.

First, you are welcome to my job for the next few weeks! Everyone's taking off on conferences/holidays, and it's left to me to look after ALL the mozzies. I spect a few of them might not survive...

Bye for now

Annie

Beadmum · 10/07/2007 13:24

Do you mean 'flat out'? I've never heard the expression 'flat chat'. Must be an Aussie/Hungarian/Russian thing...

Happy Birthdays to those I missed.... Sefton, Charlotte, KZ (and if I missed anyone, I'm sorry). Hope everyone had a wonderful time.....

Sounds like job dissatisfaction all round.... I'm working on my cv at the mo too.... Good luck CB - finger's crossed for you.

Re. what to buy LOs. I say nothing!!!! We're going to have to buy a new flat to house all Ry's new toys. And does he give a flying monkey's bum about any of them? No!!! He's more interested in trying to get into the dangerous cleaning products cupboard or breaking fingers in doors....!

Glad your DS's eye's ok, Kbaby.

Cripes Annie, I can see the mozzies quaking in their little DM boots as we speak! Least you can MN to your heart's content Lovely pix on your profile page!

Sorry about DH probs Sleep and Jom.... {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

Emma's dance thing sounded lovely HC. Would love to get Ryan into a ballet tutu but don't think DP would be too keen.....!

Well done on Ella's walking Numpty!

Glad you had a good 30th SoHappy ( you young whipper snapper you!)

Glad Logan didn't have the pox either, Babylon. Hope he's ok now.

Anyway, we had a fantastic first birthday picnic for our lickle man I was so excited all day planning it and it exceeded all my expectations. Ryan got totally spoiled, there were eight or so other kids/babies who all loved the party packs I made them and it was all very chilled, eating gluten-free carrot cake and boozing.... Ryan got a bit tired and emotional towards the end but otherwise it was perfect... sigh!!! I want to plan more parties now!

Hugs to everyone. Impy xxxx

Thanks KZ! Would have been lovely to have gone to Delhi but I know I couldn't have left Ry. He was freaked out enough that his pops disappeared but if I'd done a runner too it would have sent him over the edge! I've got the gluten intolerance, the jury's still out on whether Ryan has.... (never sure if he gets nasty nappies from teething or an intolerance...) LOL at Roshi throwing her bumbo! Impy x

Ceebee74 · 10/07/2007 20:58

Impy - what fantastic videos - love the nursery one. Ryan looked like he loves being the centre of attention - and who can blame him eh? And can't you tell you live in Spain eh - outdoors picnic and all the kids at nursery in vests - here at the moment, no chance of anything outdoors and I send Josh to nursery in long sleeves and trousers. Am v - would LOVE some sun!

Well, so much for my usual Tuesday night routine - Josh is not at all tired tonight and is roaming around downstairs in his grobag - which is making it bloody hard for me to paint my nails etc which I usually do on a Tuesday before work - and I had to share some of my pasta/pesto with him aswell
