Oh Pinions, I hope it gets better soon.

Just had MIL on phone asking inane baby questions. Have to be nice as she's coming on Sunday so that DH and I can celebrate our wedding anniversary. I know she's just trying to be nice and get things right but she's just asked me "If he cries am I allowed to pick him up?" FFS we've stayed at their house 3 times since he was born and I don't think she's ever seen me ignore him crying! Does she think I expect her to? Or maybe that a stern talking to will calm him at 9 weeks old!

mammyjo · 20/06/2007 13:50

Pinions, look after yourself. Is there anyone in RL who could help you out and maybe give you a little break?

Lesley, at least your MIL will ask! Mine just does whatever she likes whether I am happy about it or not My mum has asked me things like that a couple of times, I think she just wants to do things exactly the same as I do them so as not to disrupt F's routine IYKWIM. She does it for the right reasons!!

nuttygirl · 20/06/2007 13:57

Pinions - thinking of you, and don't feel like you can't come on here and rant.

Lesley - My MIL hands Erin back the second she makes a murmur , it does my head in. And she goes on and on saying "oh does she need fed, maybe she's a bit hot, oh there's just no settling her today, I don't think anything's going to help"...argh.

LesleyR · 20/06/2007 14:23

I know MIL intentions are good and it is that she wants to do things how I want them done. She frustrates me in that she asks about things that she knows the answer to i.e. "Of course you can pick him up if he cries". I'm lucky she's willing to help out. Apologies for moaning uneccessarily.

The cot has been delivered so I'm venturing out to town. Need to get DH a card for our anniversary. Time was I would have made him one, but don't have the inclination at the mo.

Have a good afternoon.

mammyjo · 20/06/2007 14:30

Dont apologise! I wasnt criticising you, I know how frustrating MIL's can be. Mine drives me totally insane most of the time!
Happy card buying!

oooggs · 20/06/2007 14:45

pinions - don't leave me to moan about preschoolers on my own

nuttygirl · 20/06/2007 14:47

Lesley - I was sympathising with you...hope you don't feel I was criticising.

Have just emptied washer and found I've bloody died my nappy bag ...forgot I'd put a new t-shirt in and the colour has run.

WaspElly · 20/06/2007 16:23

Can you hear it?

Silence. Just blardy marvellous.

That is however after major meltdowns whilst going to get T weighed (She's still following the 25th 'centile') Didn't help that DS got bitten by another child whilst feeling a bit wobbly having gone out sans nap. T'other child has an 18 week old but must have been VERY prem brother - so understandable behaviour, as it was a bit of a tussle for the driving seat of a car - I thought it was just a shoving match until (someone else) discovered the bite marks {broke skin!} Smiles restored with aid of 2 rather fluffy jelly teddies from my pocket and a digger from the toy library to take home. Poor miscreant whisked off home. Thank goodness DS has stopped biting, T is an amiable sort & I can share my time with them both. to each and every one that's struggling - I have my bad days too.

Can you tell that the Child development liason person who I happened to chat to gave me a reall boost about doing things right? Go see yours I can thoroughly recommend it - advice and general "you're doing really well - they're only x years old" type comments.

Right. MN caught up with; feed Littlest One then awaken exhausted toddler (I know it's late for a nap - but I haven't the heart to wake him after less than an hour)

octo · 20/06/2007 17:00

hello all
have ernie faaffing in his bouncer chair
two feral kids outside - but footie in 15 mins so an hours peace then straight to bed!

I haven't had chance to read much - took forever to find thread!!!

Nutty - have put nappies in post first class today

A friend gave me 20 terries last night - small ones - so am thinking will use stuffables when ernie out grows his size ones.

... can you hear ernie screaming in Brighton?.... better go!

nuttygirl · 20/06/2007 17:16

Hi Octo - thanks for that!

Erin has a mark on her leg...looks a bit like a graze/scratch. I can't decide if we've fastened a wrap too tight and it's rubbed of if a nippa has come loose and scratched her. I put some sudocrem on it and she's in a disposable at the mo...thought it might give it a chance to heal. She's been so unsettled this afternoon...shoved her in moses basket earlier and sat and cried. I eventually got her to take a feed and she fell asleep after that but I'm knackered.

nuttygirl · 20/06/2007 17:17

What's a stuffable....and do I have any????

I have no idea what I've got...

Sexonknackeredlegs · 20/06/2007 17:24

Hi loves. Have been reading the posts whilst running in and out, but have forgotten most of it which is hopeless, so apologies.

Lesley, can totally empathise with you re the mil and the stupid questions and comments. My mil seems to have no common sense whatsover!

CD and Ellie, hope you are having a fab time!!

Pinions, sending over more vodka hun.

Had an ok night last night considering K only took 2 ounces before bed. She woke up at 4.00, had 3 ounces and back to sleep again immediately. Up again at 7.00. Still not as ravenous as usual. B also had her jabs, and she was so much better than I thought she would be bless her.

Hope everyone is ok.

Lots of love xx

Katy44 · 20/06/2007 18:37

nutty are you sure she didn't just scratch her leg? T has a huge scratch on his face, poor battered child

OP posts:
nuttygirl · 20/06/2007 18:39

I don't think she has...it covers quite a large area, more than the scratch marks she gets on her face.

Katy44 · 20/06/2007 18:42

or an insect bite
sounds nasty, poor thing

octo · 20/06/2007 19:10

Nutty - poor erin - maybe was a nippa. A stuffable is a nappy that has a pocket built into it to add absorbency - the weenotions I have sent you have pockets to stuff in boosters but you also have 2 nature babies stuffables - you need to fold a terry or prefold into a pad and stuff it inside - really easy to use once stuffed - another good one which I've used is fuzzi bunz - think Maveta has just got one. Stuffables are really dh friendly!!!

Pinions - hope things are better this evening.

Dippy and Ellie - hope you are having a fab time - must be a bit chaotic in the dippy house this week.

I am busy trying to pack for holiday - mostly done clothes - now just random stuff to do like beach tents and wellies - but really can't do it til tomorrow night or friday - need to just chuck them in the boot!

Bugger - ernie just woken again

I have my pjs on already and am going to have an early night.

octo · 20/06/2007 19:11

nutty - btw the weenotions need wraps but the nature babies don't!

Katy44 · 20/06/2007 19:52

Still got a misreable/screamy baby though.

nuttygirl · 20/06/2007 19:58

I'm fed up...I've dumped Erin in the moses basket cos I've had enough. She won't get her wind up, won't take her bottle...DHs walked out cos we've had a barney and I don't know where he is

zazas · 20/06/2007 19:58

evening ladies! - no I am here as well just reading as I walk past! Quick post as baby needs boob - seems to be my main occupation! DP has bathed her so I have a few minutes to gulp food etc. Bugger she is wailing and I have 2 others outside somewhere..... and it is their bedtime too!

Have managed a glass of wine though

Katy44 · 20/06/2007 19:58
