Blimey. Tons of posts. You lot can chat!

CD, you looked amazing in the dress - really chic.

All ok here. Both B ad K slept until 8.00 this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot believe it. Jumped in the shower, came out to the bedroom, and B was stood there with K! Had to look twice as I thought she was just carrying one of her dolls!

EM, Pesha, CD I can empathise with you re difficult dd's. B was fine yesterday as obviously dh was around and could get things/do things for her instantly. This morning I was on my own, feeding Katie, and she said if you don't get me toast now, I won't be your friend. FFS! She is also doing a lot of lying - saying I have pinched her etc. I find it so wearing. I don't think it has helped that she had both grandparents pandering to her every wish all weekend. Hey ho. She is at school now until 5.30 so I can have some peace again from her mouthiness! K is fast asleep - again. Do you find that your lo will sleep a lot one day, and not much the next? K was awful yesterday, but last night slept for 12 hours, had a bottle at 8.00, asleep from 9.00 - 10.30, another bottle at 11.00, and sleeping since 11.30!

Madness.

Sorry, v long post and not many personals. Hope you are all ok and having good days.

Back later.xx

Meant to ask (not a baby related question), does anyone have a nice recipe for a risotto? Had roasted pepper risotto at the restaurant on Saturday and it was absolutely delicious. I have never made a risotto but really fancy it now! Any ideas gratefully received! Thanks guys!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 18/06/2007 12:33

Maveta, we also leave K until she is actually crying rather than making squawks etc. Dh got up once a few weeks ago after hearing her, and got her out, changed her nappy, and she was still out of it. He came back to bed!

Nutty/Mammyjo, know what you mean about men and their lack of participation in household help. I emptied our bathroom bin, and put it at the bottom of the stairs, in the hope that the next time dh went upstairs, he would take it up there. He walked past it twice!

nuttygirl · 18/06/2007 12:36

Mammyjo, I do veg risotto. I fry onion, leek, carrot, celery in butter (also sweet potato & swede if I happen to have any) then add the arborio rice (same as risotto rice really) then add the stock bit by bit (although I tend to get fed up after 5 mins and shove the rest of the stock in

You can also add chicken by frying that first.

Emmymummy · 18/06/2007 12:38

Mammyjo - my fave risotto is with butternut squash, sage & parmesan. Cook the risotto as usual (i.e. with chopped onion, celery, white wine, stock, olive oil....). Roast some cubed squash until it's lovely and caramelised then stir into the cooked risotto rice. Add tonnes of grated parmesan and some chopped fresh sage. Oh and a knob of butter. yum!

Also like prawn / pea / lemon risotto too. Oh and mushroom risotto. Do you get the impression I like risotto?

Katy44 · 18/06/2007 12:40

EllieK · 18/06/2007 12:40

katy that wasn't a rant, it was too short!

a proper rant should take at least

this long

OP posts:
EllieK · 18/06/2007 12:42

i'm guessing that means he woke up?

bloody irritating isn't it

OP posts:
Katy44 · 18/06/2007 12:43

i cant type fast enough with one hand for a rant
yes, he woke up and wants that elusive thing all babies want when they're fed and changed and just keep cryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyying

Emmymummy · 18/06/2007 12:45

Katy - I put S in her bouncy chair and take her into the bathroom with me when I have a shower. She seems to keep quiet when the shower is going so it works....worth a try?

Eddas · 18/06/2007 12:45

far too much talking going on, nothing to do ladies

Come to my house I have loads, but i'm sitting here, oooops

nuttygirl · 18/06/2007 12:47

Loads to do here too...but MN & Facebook are more interesting and don't require as much energy

EllieK · 18/06/2007 12:47

oi Eddas, you seen this? cos you're on it

OP posts:
Emmymummy · 18/06/2007 12:47

Soory Eddas ma'am . Am having lunch with one hand & typing with the other. I am multi-tasking. Is that ok?

mammyjo · 18/06/2007 12:50

Thanks for the recipes. Wasnt expecting such a quick response!!
Will try some of those this week. Am going to ask a dull question now. Do I put the rice in raw after frying off the onions and fry it for a minute before starting to add the stock? Also, do you use proper fresh stock or cheat with a stock cube. Think I would be inclined to go for the easy option but just wondered. I enjoy cooking and am looking for some new things to try as I feel like I am eating the same stuff week in and week out lately.

nuttygirl · 18/06/2007 12:51

I add the rice and fry for a couple of minutes (stir lots or it sticks/burns!) then start adding stock (I use stock cubes - usually chicken ones)

Eddas · 18/06/2007 12:57

Ellie, yep EAH sent an email to make sure I saw Bless her, known her for 15 years now

EM, well done for nulti tasking, i'm doing the same. Got dd pestering for 'treats' too, lol, blardy 'treats'!

Pesha/CD and evryone else with PITA other dc's sooooooooo glad I am not alone. DD is 3 and is constantly TALKING, she does the lying bit too. I am absolutely dreading the school holidays but in september she'll be at preschool EVERY morning, I cannot wait

Katy44 · 18/06/2007 13:06

Well managed to have a shower, think he was tired cos I left him in his basket and when I came out he was asleep. Only had to run out once dripping wet to put his dummy back in
Disposable nappy wearer's mummies - when do I have to get a bigger size? How far apart are the tapes when they're too small iysim? He's grown out of all his newborn clothes but the nappies still seem OK even tho he's probably reaching the weight limit thing. OTOH we've had quite a few leaks recently, more than usual, could that be because they're getting a bit small?

Eddas · 18/06/2007 13:10

Katy, IMO when they leak they're too small. You'll probably be better off buying the size where he's at the lower end of the weight range.

CaptainDippysHouseGuest · 18/06/2007 13:12

leaks are usually because nappy is too small, not necessarily in fit, but in absorbancy, a bigger size will give more absorbancy too

CaptainDippysHouseGuest · 18/06/2007 13:12

do you like the new name?

Sexonknackeredlegs · 18/06/2007 13:15

pmsl at the new name!!

Pesha · 18/06/2007 13:16

Oh dont get me started on dp. He does try sometimes and does abit but only when i get really stressy! And sometimes he'll put some washing on BUT only his own clothes, like a couple of work tops or his cricket stuff, normally just before Im about to put a load on so it has to wait, And normally just a half load that could have been done with other washing. However on sat he put his cricket stuff on with his navy blue work clothes so cricket 'whites' came out bluey grey Was PMSL Ahem, sorry, obviously I was very sympathetic and really felt for him having to play cricket in non white whites.

CaptainDippysHouseGuest · 18/06/2007 13:17

was thinking i could change it towards the end of the week, to
