I think i am going to have to buy another sling. I've got a Huggababy ring sling which Leo loved at first but now he likes to move his arms and legs around he doesn't like being restricted by the sling. Any suggestions for a 'normal' sling?

EllieK · 14/06/2007 21:06

aw cute babies oooggs

WCL have you tried putting him in the upright hold in the Huggababy?

OP posts:
WestCountryLass · 14/06/2007 21:09

Yeah, he likes facing outwards and moving his arms and legs a lot and the material sort of restrains him and then he gets all annoyed. If I hold him with one arm facing out he likes that as his arms and legs are free to flail about.

WestCountryLass · 14/06/2007 21:10

So I thought a bog standard kind of sling that you can use front facing would be good as I would get my arm back!

EllieK · 14/06/2007 21:12

ok, i use my huggababy as a kind of strap round Joe's middle, with his legs out the bottom and his arms out the top, so doing what your arm does

i just put him in the uprigh hold then pull his legs out the bottom and make it tighter

OP posts:
WestCountryLass · 14/06/2007 21:25

I have done that but I am still holding him as i'm not convinced the sling is if you know what I mean, also I wouldn't be able to stroll around the park with the other two with him like that as I would be worried he might drop out.

EllieK · 14/06/2007 21:33

i know what you mean, still not convinced myself!

maybe a simple baby bjorn thing would work?

Hi ladies

Just a flying visit as am competely stressed and am going to bed shortly.

Dh is away and it is SHIT.

The girls aren't alligned so the process of getting them both to bed took 2 hours, with poor B having to hang around whilst I fed K, who took an age with her bottle.

Got cross with B as she kept coming in to K's room. Feel sooooo bad, as she was just bored and lonely on her own, and also pretty tired.

How do you others do bedtime with the 2 kids?

xxxx

EllieK · 14/06/2007 21:36

lights keep flickering so gonna tun puter off now in case we lose power

Mothercare do one WCL which is simple and easy and not too expensive as ar as I remember. x

lazyemma · 14/06/2007 21:37

hallo everyone! B had her injections two days ago, poor thing. She screamed blue murder, but cheered up again pretty quickly and even cracked a smile for the health visitor.

She's being quite odd today though - will fall asleep quite happily on me, but the very second I lie her down, she instantly wakes up and bawls her eyes out. I hope she's not developing a cot aversion.

Re: slings - it's not a sling as such but I've got a "baby bjorn active" carrier for going out on walks and to the supermarket and stuff - B loves it. She's still facing me but can see out . When they get bigger you can change position so they're facing out front. I got it second hand off ebay - I think they're quite expensive new. Very sturdy though, she feels really secure in it.

EllieK · 14/06/2007 21:37

hi SOKL
if Joe needs a feed around Matthew's bedtime then I feed him while reading a story to Matthew, then Matthew goes to bed and I change Joe etc

WestCountryLass · 14/06/2007 21:39

SOSKL, DS1 goes to bed pretty easily, once he's brushed his teeth, I tuck him in and give him a kiss and that is it. With DD, have to hold her hand while she drops off so I sit on her bed with Leo feeding and once she is down I then settle Leo.

EllieK · 14/06/2007 21:39

ooh, hi Lazyemma

Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/06/2007 21:40

Thanks Ellie, think I am going to have to try and adopt that, as B wasn't in bed until 9.00, which is way too late for her. x

WestCountryLass · 14/06/2007 21:41

Thanks Ellie for sling advice, I think you might be right about Baby Bjorn

Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/06/2007 21:41

MN / make self dinner it's a tough decision.

Ok you win guys.

Sorry to hear you've been down CD - hopefully the entire brighton meet up telling you forcefully and in person to slow down might make it happen?? Sympathies here though. I'm having a short DH week here too he was away Sun/Mon and is off again Fri/Sat nights and will be dead / useless (should that be dead useless?) on Sunday.

Couldn't find anyone to look after Cameron during my "6 week" check up at the doctors today so had to miss it. Which am a bit about.
Am considering the possibility that having got back to my pre preg weight already (although NOT shape I hasten to add - and all unitentionally) this might be a contributing factor to Tamsin dropping from 25th to 9th 'centile over 2 weeks. Note to self: Must get T weighed next Weds - could someone remind me? Think that T could be fighting for the April featherweight award as she was 9lbs 9 at 8 weeks although increasing steadily. I refuse to worry about her weight gain I know she's gorwn asnd is now fitting into her 0-3 clothes babygros without seeming utterly swamped.
Really looking forward to seeing everyone in Brighton by the way.

Have fed T several times in Tesco whist in sling - I tend to fling the 'tail' of the sling over the top of the sling when feeding or if we're in direct sunshine. I'm sure people think she's just a handbag at times! I've progressed from feeding over the top of my clothes to feeding her from the bottom - means that I can wear my normal staple 'yachtie uniform' of polo shirt & jeans instead of finding another shirt/vest combo that works.

Right - the MN/ food bablance is starting to tip the other way, and with T down for the night I think a glass of wine might be in order too....

Love to all I've missed
