Sellotape.

2boysmacca · 13/06/2007 08:26

That's a real toughy Flame, I know I am a culprit of buying where there is free posage. I really don't know what to suggest.

Well Wimpole has been knocked ont he head because we ran out of sun cream this morning so I need to go into town and get some more. In addition, the lovely chicken breast I cooked last night to make tasty sandwiches was left out all night with a very hungry fly! Yuk! Needless to say i had to bin that this morning . Ds could really do with a haircut before the weekend when he will be making his premier appearance with a lot of dh's family . Once all the chores have been done I might take a walk over to the maze and let them run around there for half an hour.

2nd load of washing of the morning about to be hung out on the line. Where on earth does it all come from?

Had a lot of deliveries this morning, which made me realsie I have spent a lot this past few days. New shoes, fig leaves undies (plus some for dh for fathers day), an alarm clock for dh, an armband for my ipod and a golf thingy for fil from the kids

Right, better get the boys ready for their outing into town....

Flame · 13/06/2007 08:27

lmao

I've adjusted the prices slightly so they are more in line with the other stores.

OP posts:
Flame · 13/06/2007 08:28

DH got figleaves undies?

OP posts:
2boysmacca · 13/06/2007 08:29

they don't just do thongs you know, do a good range of CK's and D&G's

mustrunmore · 13/06/2007 08:32

Ah, let me tell you about fathers day...

MRM:'What shall we get for Daddy, that he'd really really like?'

DS1:'Germ spray for his hands'

Go into boots...

DS1:'Hello, I need germ spray for my daddy for his fathers day present. Have you got some?'

BOOTS MAN: 'Er, what?....'

We wrapped it this morning

2boysmacca · 13/06/2007 08:37

Ds had no choice. I was sick of hanging dh's boxers on the line with big holes in them and the alarm clock is on my side of the bed (that's where the power point is) and I'm sick of having to get up and turn it off. I gave ds the choice of which present he'd like to give him, and he did choose the card (a Thomas the Tank Engine card ) Ds2 wanted a different card so he's got 2!

Flame · 13/06/2007 08:38

OOh didn't know that!

pmsl @ the germ spray.

DH "Can I have a father's day present?"
Me "I had planned to get you something, yes"
DH "Can I have that last book in the trilogy?"

Cue me wandering off grinning because I didn't have to even think about what to get

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 13/06/2007 08:40

On principle, I'd have said 'no, because you asked'. But I'm mean. As last nights argument proves
He's getting 3 cards, because we bought one (from the charity shop for 30p about 4 months ago), then the boys each made one at group yesterday.

Flame · 13/06/2007 08:43

To be fair - if he'd asked for something computer related or a book that I didn't want to read too, I would've said no

OP posts:
mustrunmore · 13/06/2007 08:48

Well, I suppose I might get to share dh's pressie too

Phoenix · 13/06/2007 09:45

Morning all,

Nothing much to report i'm just putting this thread back to the top of thread i'm on.

My best friend (trace2 on mn) had her baby girl on Monday afternoon weighing 5lb 8oz. If you remember me saying they weren't sure if she would have any problems when she was born because there was a prob with her umbilical cord, well she does have a few problems (not sure what as i haven't spoke to trace yet) but nothing too bad thankfully although she's having tests still. I can't wait to see her

Chloe55 · 13/06/2007 10:50

Well, I'm finally packed and ready for off so killing some time.

PG - please send my best wishes to Trace, I hope everything is as well as it can be for her.

Phoenix · 13/06/2007 12:01

I thought i'd missed you, have a great time xx

Phoenix · 13/06/2007 12:02

Oh bugger just realised chloe posted that over an hour ago so has probabl gone now

Jas · 13/06/2007 12:07

Congrats to your friend Phoenix

No fathers day present here.

Flame - I like what you have done to the postage. It will help I think (Have to admit if yu weren't my friend, postage prices on small orders would have put me off before)
How do you know your customers have ordered elsewhere?

I won £50 on my premium bonds this month

Phoenix · 13/06/2007 16:32

Flame and CSWS - what size crocs have ur lo's got? And what size shoe are they?

Ds is a 4.5 at clarks (poss a 5 now) but i got his crocs from next and the smallest they do is 6-7 so i thought he'd possibly get more wear out of that size than the 4-5, wot do u think? Do i keep the 6-7 or get some 4-5 from somewhere else? They are too big but don't come off when he walks iykwim.

2boysmacca · 13/06/2007 16:44

Rem they are American sizes so they are bigger. I think a 6-7 is a UK 4-5. They are supposed to be larger than you would normally wear shoes too

Phoenix · 13/06/2007 16:45

Ah didn't know that, thanks

Flame · 13/06/2007 17:45

DS has the smallest ones (4-5 I think...) and they are big on him - he's about a 4.5 uk size. They fall off occasionally and have oodles of growing room.

Jas - you need to tell me these things - I'm too close to everything to see the good and bad points. Under £10 is now down to £1.25 which should cover one nappy for 1st class postage

I have put in the shipping section about recycling packaging now too. Do you think I should put it somewhere else on the site (it also appears at "checkout successful")? The turnaround times have reduced too, and I have much more instock. I am thinking about getting stickers made with the logo on and saying something about reusing the packaging so it is clear when it arrives too. The reusing is because I have so many plastic bags from where the deliveries arrive with me, it seems terrible throwing them out when I am selling a product that is meant to help the environment.

I need all the constructive criticism I can get (and will cry in private about you pickin on me )

Congratulations to your friend Phoenix and I hope the problems are minor.

OP posts:
2boysmacca · 13/06/2007 19:04

No, I think the fact you state it in shipping is sufficient. When I got my nappies for ds, they did the same and I can honestly say it really didn't bother me. Right, constructive criticism...

Personnaly, these are the things that matter to me whenI'm internet shopping

  1. Postage (you've covered that)
  2. Delivery - I like 24 hour despatch. Sometimes I know it's not practical but if something comes fast, I'll re-order again from that site. If I'm told it's out of stock when I order, that's fine but I hate waiting more than 3 days for something.
  3. Your homepage. I love that you have displayed all your nappies but ti does look like you've photographed them on your living room floor. I'd prefer to see professional photos. For me, I use my credit card for everything so I have a huge credit available to me, because of this I am really nervous about using sites I don't know. I'm really rubbish at things like this because I'm always too blunt, so please don't be offended. I think the homepage would make me think it's not a credible site, and I'd be nervous about using it. There, I said it.

Other than that, I think it's great. When I scroll down the site is more how I would expect and I would order. I think teh front section needs to keep your potential buyers because once inside the site it's really user friendly.

Are you still talking to me?

Flame · 13/06/2007 20:05

Lol yup, can work on all of that.

The dispatch thing is a problem - I only have a small proportion of the stock on premises, so I can only send out instantly that which I have - the rest is either delivered to me, and then the customer, or straight to the customer, either way it is a couple of days for dispatch. I can't fix that without a hell of a lot of funds which I don't have.

I'm not too sure what to put on the front page - it needs a pic as it just looks bland without it, but what to have is the issue.... In an ideal world I need to "win" a venture session - get them to take oodles of pics of 3 or 4 babies playing in nappies .

I wonder if there is any way I can stick in some code to get a scrolling "news" box like on babykind...

OP posts:
2boysmacca · 13/06/2007 20:24

Ok some more, this time from dh (who produces websites). He thinks your homepage is too big, you need to reduce the font so it is more concise and the links could be a lot clearer i.e what do you want people to do, where do you want them to go?

He suggested going to a tech college or such like and speak to the lecturer of the graphic design dept. Tell them you are starting out and need someone to design your website. Offer them a prize, say £50 if you implement their design. Obviously undergraduates need projects for final year work etc and this could be just their cup of tea, especially with a cash incentive. Worth a go?

ChasingSquirrels · 13/06/2007 21:23

am pmsl at the germ spray, too late to say have a good hols to chloe, and can't comment on nappies as use disposables - though would be happy to look at it and give my thoughts (as just a online shop user rather than anyone in the business etc).

have frozen milk in the freezer (obviously!) now, looks a very odd colour.

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/06/2007 22:14

DD doesn't have crocs Phoenix - me and MrCSWS do!! Congrats to your friend - hope the problems are very minor.

pmsl at germ spray. You are priceless when it comes to present shopping mrm!
What was last night's argument?

flame - I'm not too bothered about despatch times generally (within reason, but a week is perfectly acceptable for me), as long as I know what they are in advance.
It should be It's Bumfluff Bonanza time, not its (apostrophe when short for it is).
Agree with macca that home page is too long.

What you actually want re photos is to come this way and have a session with hub2dee, with Emrys, Leon, Pippa and Camille (if she's not already potty trained) modelling.
